      @@weezkidtube Yes I have 8 watches and try to rotate them but this piece makes it really tough to do that!! I find myself wearing most days because you can change it up with the other straps in like 10 seconds! So long story short defo a daily wear! 😜

      @@weezkidtube I agree with Armi. I wear this watch every day, and I neglect all my others. I do find myself staring at it often, admiring how the light reflects off the perfectly polished markers. Been collecting ,selling ,swapping watches all my life Bruce. I bought an old school tag heuer formula one chronograph ca1212-1, it's a quartz , it's got a jingly bracelet, a pressed clasp, a plastic bezel , a basic fold over clasp. Everything that's supposed to be bad about older designs. But when it's on the wrist it feels amazing and looks amazing,
    And is comfortable to wear also. The design is completely unique to tag heuer , unlike the VC , and weirdly, I feel special wearing it, even though I've got much better made watches in my collection.
    So the morale of my story is, I ain't got a flipping clue after 55 years on this planet, what makes a great watch, apart from one, that you will really love and enjoy !!!

    Many say that it is ridiculous spending so much on a watch. As you mentioned, your phone can tell you the time more accurately. Hey Bruce, this is supposed to be a fairly new and in house movement. For $ 20.000 this still doesn't hack? They definitely have a design flaw here. This would never be found on a Rolex. The date font looks rather cheap and unimaginative. Otherwise the watch looks good, but it doesn't really seem to fit to you as a person. You are really a super casual guy. Thanks for the review! @@Andrew.W75 Then what's the sense of being cosc certified or being finely regulated if you can never set the time correctly. Even if the watch runs at +/- 2 seconds a day, it really doesn't matter, because the watch can never be set exactly. This means that the watch will be running at worst case 30 seconds fast or 30 seconds slow, compared to real time, depending on how or when you set the time. As far as I am concerned, there is no reason that the watch is not hackable at this price point. For an $80 Seiko, I can understand that. 😉

    Bruce, I'm looking for one watch as an everyday wearer. Would you recommend a Rolex Submariner Date (126610) from a AD for half the price or would you save and get the Vacheron Overseas 4500V with the blue dial? I know that they're not on the same level (horologically or finishing) but they are the two watches I'm interested in at the moment. Is the Vacheron double the watch of a Submariner? I like that both watches have quick adjustment which is a must have feature as an everyday watch? Thoughts?

    Hi Bruce! I have few questions aboud bad things. I'd love to read your opinion. I had Overseas for almost a year, since feb 2019 to dec 2019. I sold it becouse it became too popular... ;) Seriously, I liked it better, when it was overlooked.
    1. How do you find poor lume aplication on indexes? I see that yours has similiar quality in this area. I've spoken with many owners, most of them confirmed. We (watchfam) like to say Rolex doesn't put enough attention to this, but VC seems to be much worse. I remember someones comment under Watchfinder's video, it was something like "VC's that-will-do quality". It is good way to describe the problem...
    2. Scratches on bracelet, do you have a lot? Brushing is so shallow... Like on Black Bays. You can even polish it with cloth... Mine had many scratches, and parts where it was polished from touching my cloathes. It looked very bad.
    3. Leather strap is so poorly manufactured. It even doesn't fit lugs the same way rubber and steel do. It's too thick on the top and sit 1mm above the case. To make things worse - I wore mine 4-5 times maybe and stiches started to loosen. I know that leather is just additional strap, but sill, on this level it should be top quality.
    4. Time keeping accuracy. Mine was -5s one day, and +11s another. And there was no rule to this. I tried to keep watch on certail positions during the night, but didn't find any pattern. So annoying.
    5. Date window is soooooo generic, frame is also not very well executed.
    You compared it to Czapek Antarctique lately, and said that it is just half step beyond VC in quality. I think you are not objective here. I did have some time with Czapek and to my eyes it is that half step above. Dial has no issues with lume, bracelet seems to be brushed with greater attention. There was no single thing to point out as bad finishing.
    PS. Funny thing - two years ago even blue dial variants were available everywhere, and traded way below retail. I bought mine at Wempe and had 15% discount. Blue dial is incredible, like looking at deep ocean, but the best Overseas was... brown one! I wish I had an oportunity to spend some thime with it before I bought blue.

    I know it's funny to say something this expensive as a great "value prop", but compared to its competitors (i.e. Royal Oak & Nautilus), I think the gen 3 overseas is such a good package.

  • @tuengsak
    @tuengsak 3 роки тому +2

    Royal Oak 15202, which costs 2.5 times, at the market price, of this Overseas, doesn't even have a second hand. Anyone who thinks high horology is about accuracy they need to adjust their watch game. Personally, Royal Oak bracelet is better for appearance, and, to a certain degree, finish; But it's different finishing techniques between the twos, so it can't be simply compared at face value. Royal Oak bracelet is not very comfortable to wear as everyday watch though, Overseas bracelet, on the other hand, is the most comfortable to wear out of the 3 holy trinity sport watches. I do own both Royal Oak and Overseas and have owned Nautilus( just sold last year for a crazy profit,) so I have no bias whatsoever between these 3 "Haut de Gamme" sport watches. BTW, Nautilus bracelet is the worst of all 3 no matter what the price it's sold for...

    • @BruceWilliams
      @BruceWilliams  3 роки тому +1

      Technically no. But everyone places different value in different things. I think when you are spending over 10k on a watch you aren't buying for relative value as the driving factor. A VC is not 4x the watch as a typcial GS. But I would rather spend more and buy the watch I enjoy more (and I do think is a step above GS, just not 4 steps) I'm also consistent with the lower prices. I would rather buy a speedy than a 1k watch that isn't 4 times less than an Omega in specs.

    Yeaaaaaaah Bruce! Crackin vid as alway!s. Your production, video and macro work is next level these days man. I wonder how VC would feel about the banging intro?, lol.
    I do love the VC Overseas, its beautiful!, movement is awesome! and so nicely decorated ... and BLUE is THE one to get. But in some ways it feels too by the numbers for me personally, i have seen them irl, but never tried it on or held for extended period ... so perhaps in the metal it goes next level?
    I love that you have a less conventional grail, but as a flipper do you really feel its a true grail?, i.e. is that it?, game over?.. I know there are no rules, but shouldnt a grail really be something you have to aspire to for a long and painful time, if ever achieving it. I suppose a grail is whatever you want it to be. I will be interested to see if this grail sticks, is it love or just very enjoyable lust for a serial flipper with increasingly expensive taste.
    All that aside, enjoy that honeymoon man! ... very stoked for you Bruce, well done.

    Congrats again! Your timing is amazing, so I had to comment. I got mine in August 2020 and have purchased 4 other amazing watches since then. Last night I happened to notice my overseas in the mirror and the way the white gold markers glistened within the blue dial was like the first time I saw it. The surrounding stainless steel is timeless and this is the watch that gets the most wrist time. Thank God I got mine bc, especially with the 5711 going out, this watch will be just as tough to get. I'm partial to the overseas, nautilus is outdated and overplayed. For anyone looking for this watch in the Southeast, I strongly suggest the Vacheron in the Miami Design District. Natalie could not have been more insightful or pleasant to deal with. 1st class service and an awesome staff!

    Hey Bruce, amazing piece. Curious what your wife thinks of the hobby/obsession and how you guys manage deciding on picking a watch for the collection. You have great taste, but the problem with that is price (Hulk, Overseas, etc), which most other family members would always bemoan and say it should be put into mortgages etc. Just wondering. Thanks!

      She's amazing, and good with my watch hobby because all the important things in life are taken care of first and foremost. We live in moderation and don't carry debt outside of a reasonable townhome. I also only pay for watches and silly things from a portion of accumulated Ad revenue and not from my 'normal job' wages

    Beautiful piece and great to see you love it still, that’s what makes it worthwhile. I’ve noticed that when i buy a car it’s great for a week or so and then it becomes just “the car”. This however will never be just “the watch” 👍

    Hi Bruce, great review of a magnificent watch. I own the OS chronograph blue dial, best watch ever. Understated luxury and excellence. I like the fact it doesn't attract the attention of some other brands. I was lucky to walk into a boutique and simply buy it, no waiting - just good timing. Now there is a waiting list of several months for an OS model. I am in Australia (Melbourne) and the AD is fantastic. No waiting for the right client etc, they treat everyone with respect. Keep up the good work.

    Have you got any scratches on it yet Bruce?

      Yes, some hairlines on the polished bezel, one or two on the bracelet. Nothing bad

      Usually put it on rubber every 2 weeks or so. No wear outside of some hairlines in the polished bezel.

    This is also my grail. My boutique here in Canada has quoted me a 7 month -1 yr wait list with 10 thousand dollars down. I haven't pulled the trigger yet because I have a very lovely Omega Speedmaster Racing that I've been wearing daily and purchased last year but this Vacheron... wow just great. Thanks for the comprehensive review Bruce, I watched the whole thing and will most likely come back to watch it as my desire for this watch grows.

    This watch is personally almost perfect and thats why its my grail and striving to get one . It has a very good balance of industrial and elegance which fits the watch and the brands reputation and history . My personal 2 negatives maybe #1 the hacking (which i do not really care as i do not set to the second and heard hacking adds to wear and tear ), but it still would be nice to have . #2 is the half balance bridge . Shock resistance overkill is always a plus and full balance bridge can be seen used by the most robust watches.

    What's the true definition of a grail watch? The number one watch you want no matter the price? Or the number one watch you want that you can afford eventually with proper planning and saving? I've never understood exactly what grail meant. Thank you.

    • @BruceWilliams
      @BruceWilliams  3 роки тому

      I don't know that there is a common definition. I would call a grail a watch that you adore, your favorite design. One that is a significant purchase and not one made on a whim.

    Bruce, just got OS last week!) Was encouraged by your purchase and reviews. The watch is just incredible, I'm in love with it. Quality of the execution is just over the top. Way better than Rolex (currently have black GMT and Bluesy). My Bluesy, when side by side to VC, seems so unserious, so "toy" like). And lack of hacking second and smooth date change doesn't bother me at all. Nothing is perfect) Thanks for review!

    Hi Bruce, if you are such an "addict" when it comes to a good watch bracelet, I wonder why you did not yet check out the newest generation TAG Heuer Link. Another watch that is highly defined by its bracelet. Of course not as refined as your VC but an icon in its on right...

  • @conradcoolerfiend

    Many holy trinity watches don't hack, not as an intentional choice, but because the movement architectures are ancient. IMO, what is the point of creating such an accurate movement if you can't even hack it to take advantage of the accuracy. I'm certain whenever they get around to updating the movement, they will add hacking. That does cheese me off a little, that they won't invest in updating the movement when they are charging 30 grand. That is probably the biggest negative of these holy trinity non hacking sport watches IMO.

    • @BruceWilliams
      @BruceWilliams  3 роки тому +1

      This movement debuted in 2016. Its a very new caliber. The non hacking was an intentional choice. It doesn't affect accuracy in the slightest.

    • @conradcoolerfiend
      @conradcoolerfiend 3 роки тому

      @@BruceWilliams WOW I did not know that. IMO that makes it even worse. I understand it doesn’t affect the accuracy, but my point is, what’s the point of an accurate watch if you can’t sync up the seconds! But this is my only critisism of the watch. Everything else is fantastic

      @@conradcoolerfiend it's because you're rich af and probably have a phone to tell you the exact accurate time to the seconds 😂 if you're stupid rich you wouldn't nearly care that much about the time 😎
