It's a stunning watch! What I just can't understand is, for this kind of money, VC can't color match the date window??? I have watches which I paid under $400, and the manufacturer color matched the date window! In fact, they make about six or eight different colored dials, and ALL of the date windows have a oolor matched date window! Who wants the date window to stand out from that gorgeous dial??? What gives???
Another great video! I’ve been looking around for a blue dialed (non diver) watch in a lower tier. I like the Tissot Gentleman and the Longines Spirit but I’m not finding a lot on offer from other brands, am I missing something?

You can always apply pressure on the crown and the movement will hack. Vacheron Constantin recommends setting the time this way to keep all the gears in sync.
It's actually better that it doesn't hack... is it convenient..Yes of course..but let's be honest you will see a lot of higher end manufacturers/movements who don't do hacking in there movements.. that is not for no reason ;-)
There’s a reason high horology movements don’t hack. They put a lot of attention to detail during every production phase and an extra gear to hack the movement causes more wear through time. It’s perfectly OK to manually hack the movement.
After owning the First Omega in Space for a while, I've realized hacking is not something that I really need. I find it easier to set the watch without hacking. If my watch is too far forward, I just adjust the time +12 hours or so the the correct minutes and I'm done. No need to hack the seconds, and stare at my phone clock to start it at the exact right moment
This is a stone cold stunner. But I have a few issues. 1. The bezel design, and finish, seems off. I just don't think that polished bezel will age well. 2. The oblong date window and font. It's like the Omega wart. I see what they tried to do aesthetically, but they should've done a 1800 window, with it matching the dial. The font and print are sloppy tbh. Sad too for such a beautiful dial. 3. It's too pretty. I feel like owning the VCO would own me. I'd be scared to wear it daily. 4. It should hack. It's still a stunner don't get me wrong, but it just doesn't fit MY style or use of a watch. I can see the draw in the dial and bracelet though.
Maybe it’s just me but I prefer the look of watches without a high level of AR coating. I kind of like the way the light reflects and think that a super clear crystal makes a watch look cheap.
The quick change feature is sweet but I can't see staying away from that bracelet. Looks amazing. I don't think I'd pony up for one (one explorer +one no date sub please ad) but I'd love to try it on....

Great watch, although I'd be curious how true it is that the first 3 years of production for the 4500v, a lacquered dial was used And produced in the same place as the FP Journe CB was, then they used a brighter sunburst like dial. It wasn't as deep...
I just take off mine and put into a safe watch roll then backpack before security check. After that I take it out then put on my wrist again. No problem at all.
Nice video, I hope to pick this up towards the tail end of 2021 or early 2022, just love this watch, not sure if I want the blue dial or the silver, that blue dial really does shine when the sun hits it but I have a hankering for a lighter dial. need to get my house move sorted and then it's off to the VC store in London for a chat. Congrats on getting your grail, enjoy wearing it.
I have the identical VC, almost exactly one year old. I bought it from a VC boutique in Southern California. It surprises me that our serial #'s are over 20,000 apart. Assuming they're numbered consecutively, that means they're making about 2000/month. It just surprises me that the production is so high. I'd certainly bet that the blue dial is on more of the Overseas watches than any other color. So more of "our watch" than I'd have thought. With that said, it's still gorgeous and I love mine. I use all three bands, although I too tend to use the bracelet the most. The reason for that is that the bracelet has the easy micro adjustment, and the two bands are a bit of a nuisance to resize. Swapping the deployant clasp from one band to the other is also a bit of a chore. I have a couple of other watches than I wear, but I certainly wear the Overseas the most. For me, it's definitely a keeper!
Beautiful piece, the dial color & detail is incredible as is the window on the back on the mechanism would take it over the Royal Oak anyday for the money.Thanx P.S. Tx.
Typically the hacking feature is a small hammer like piece that strikes against the side of the balance wheel and holds it in place to prevent the watch from running. A lot of high end watch brands (and Journe has explicitly stated that he) choose not to include a hacking feature because of the additional wear and tear when a 4hz rotating piece is suddenly stopped.
I agree and this could also cause inaccuracies in the future . And the truth is most people (Including me) dont set watches to the second . I set my watches +1 minute before I start winding the crown to start the movement.
Yeah, Bruce, I'm surprised it doesn't hack for that price. But I don't want to put clouds on your grail. If you knew it ahead of time, it doesn't matter.

Grail! I like the dual time to though 🤩✌🏻
The design is best thing including bezel, bracelet, bukle reminds me of 15th century European solider outfit/knights
Congrats on getting your grail, enjoy wearing it.
size looks perfect on your wrist in my opinion. congrats on the purchase!
Great video Bruce! That Overseas looks amazing on you!
Beautiful piece, the dial color & detail is incredible as is the window on the back
on the mechanism would take it over the Royal Oak anyday for the money.Thanx P.S. Tx.
Looks better in black
Typically the hacking feature is a small hammer like piece that strikes against the side of the balance wheel and holds it in place to prevent the watch from running. A lot of high end watch brands (and Journe has explicitly stated that he) choose not to include a hacking feature because of the additional wear and tear when a 4hz rotating piece is suddenly stopped.
I agree and this could also cause inaccuracies in the future . And the truth is most people (Including me) dont set watches to the second . I set my watches +1 minute before I start winding the crown to start the movement.
I fully agree with you
At 2:47 the perfect three watch collection!
my grail watch as well! it's just so perfect. wear it in good health!
Yeah, Bruce, I'm surprised it doesn't hack for that price. But I don't want to put clouds on your grail. If you knew it ahead of time, it doesn't matter.
What the skx!? It doesn’t hack! That would drive me crazy on a watch this level
Bracelet doesn't taper, butterfly clasp doesn't have easylink for daily swelling
A lot of my enjoyment for a piece is the knowledge that my watch is keeping time to the second. I may be late, but my watch isn’t allowed to be!
