    I agreed with a lot of the bright colors, yellows, and most purples, but she just threw out the whole blue color scheme and I thought a couple shades looked good. Same with a few of the other colors she took out. I thought the dark colors did look good and sophisticated like she said, but they also made you appear paler. Which I guess in South Korea is desirable. It would be cool to see you have this done again in Australia or the US to see if culture plays a part. I think another color pallet could suit you just as well.

      It’s warm versus cool tone. Like other comments point, it’s only for colors near your face, so blue jeans are still okay. There is no warm blue. You should watch other color analysis videos bc it’s not about looking paler, it’s about clear bright skin instead of dull (gray cast) skin (like when she’s in blue) or amplifying shadows (like what they were saying about the black color). Also, color appointments would take into account dark or red blemishes, but Tina’s skin is clear so that didn’t factor in. If the goal was just to look paler, dye your hair black and wear black 🥴 (edit to say there can be warm blues, but I stand by the “the goal is bright skin, not pale skin” point for these color analysis appointments. I’ve also tried looking for a color appointment here in the states but since I’m not near any fashion capitols, what’s available to me seems like older women working on limited or outdated color analysis l so I probably have to do an online appointment if I wanted this done well from in the states).

    • @hbarlaam
      @hbarlaam Рік тому +50

      @hvnterly8388 According to many different types of color analysis, there should be SOME blue(s) that suits her. I can't think of any seasonal analysis system that discounts EVERY blue for a particular person. Yes, blue might be considered cool in general, but there are blues that lean warm, or light, or deep, or muted, and so on. In any analysis system I am familiar with, everyone gets blues--it's just a matter of finding which blues work best on you.

    • @Ma5jay5dontxdoxthat
      @Ma5jay5dontxdoxthat Рік тому +33

      Actually someone else did this too, and that youtuber said she wanted to look pale. The person got "mad" (not really mad but best word) at her saying "You don't want to look pale. You want to look bright." Which is the big difference. Both mean lighter, but being pale in this context means looking sickly. Think like Wednesday Addams. Looking brighter brings out the natural highlights and makes you look more lively and stand out. Even people who are "pale" in skin tone don't necessarily look pale like Wednesday.

    I didn't expect that the deeper lip color would be recommended, and I feel like there were more colours in there that suited you. I've always been extremely into fashion, so this is super fascinating to watch. I've been curious about these types of sessions before, so it's really cool to observe one. I've been goth for my entire life (literally since I could form coherent thoughts about my clothes), so maybe I'm biased, but I thought black looked much more striking on you than the dark chocolate brown. That being said I could DEFINITELY see how the darker colors looked better than light! The lighter colors totally washed you out! I thought it was so interesting when she said there were certain lighter colors you could pull off if you did heavier makeup. That makes so much sense!
    All of this was extremely interesting and worth thinking about, but my motto in life is "if it makes you happy and you're not hurting yourself or others, do it." I definitely believe that extends into the worlds of makeup and fashion. Don't think too hard about whether a color might look good just based on looking at it. Always try something on. You might really love it anyway. If that's the case, wear it. If it makes you happy, you should always consider that first.

      I’m also goth and VERY picky with colour. My favourite colours are black purple and green, through I mostly wear black, only wear purple sometimes, and I hardly ever wear green (usually only as an accent with accessories.)
      I’ve been watching a lot of these videos and I find them so interesting. I’m nearly always able to pick out the “correct” options, I think due to my fascination with colour theory. It’s kind of funny to me how me, who hates most colours, has such an eye for them lol.
      I’m so curious to what it would be like to get a consultation for myself. I’m 99% sure that I have a neutral undertone, so I really don’t know what would be “my” season. (Though my guess would be winter.) I also don’t really strive to look “bright and healthy” and a lot of the times try to look kinda dead lol, so I wonder how that would influence everything.
      I think that’s a big part of what interests me in these theories in fashion and makeup, because there’s this widespread idea of the “right” or “correct” way to achieve certain things- that are desirable to the majority of people; but then you could use that exact same theory and apply it to create the opposite effect that is desirable to a nicher audience.
      Hopefully that made sense 😭 apologies for the long comment I’m just super interested by all this.

    • @minervarose7664
      @minervarose7664 Рік тому +5

      This conversation is super interesting 😃 i am no expert, but from what i understand of colour theory (or rather, my take on it) it is not so much "oh, you mustn't wear these colours" or "you should only wear .... colours". Rather it is understanding the visual effect different colours will have on you.
      Seasonal colour theory indicates which colours look most HARMONIOUS against your skin. But of course, if looking hatmonious is not your goal, you should wear colours against your season 😉 for instance, if wearing a full black outfit makes you look goth, you most likely are not a Winter, Dark Autumn or Bright Spring. On those seasons, black will look very harmonious. However, if a Summer wears a full black outfit, she is more likely to "make a statement" with her look, so to speak.
      I am a Bright Spring. Black looks pretty harmonious on me. Bright colours also look less "bright" on me than a softer season. I work in a very professional environment where we can't really go crazy with our looks haha (business consulting firm!). But since i have quite bright colouring, i find i can easily get away wearing bright emerald greens, yellows, hot pinks etc as long as the style of the outfits themselves is "professional".
      I also routinely wear red lipstick to work and it looks very normal on me, not too "made up". On the other hand, if i wear a dark smoky eye or a deep maroon/ berry lip (dark rather than bright colours) i immediately look like am going to a Halloween party 😂😂
      Hope my comment made some sense 😬

    People saying certain colors look good on Tina don’t realize that they’re getting affected by a) the camera and lighting and b) makeup in other videos, which can make a big difference. That’s why color consultations happen in person, you can’t accurately gauge what suits someone irl through a camera! Think of all the pretty influencer makeup that looks thick and cakey irl-some colors photograph nicely on someone, but don’t looks as flattering in person, and vice versa.

    I'm so glad she mentioned you can get away with some spring colors; I was remembering your try-on hauls and how that color palette of pinks suited you! I think that while the dark colors look good, the more vivid ones right before the dark ones also suited you. E.g. burgundy looks good on you too, even though she believes the blackened red is best. If you look at "dark autumn" palettes, those colors are actually included. It's not just deep darks as she showed; there are lighter and vivid colors as well. But it's possible that's just the default Western dark autumn palette. I've seen Korean palettes sometimes resemble them and others (like this place) just have the darks.

    I love color theory in clothes and makeup. It really does make such a difference.
    There were actually several colors she didn't like for you that I thought looked spectacular on you, really brightening up your features. I think a lot of that could be my own personal preferences to though.
    Since you have it on video you can go back and really look at each one and what it does for your face and skin and hair. You may find more that you really like on you.
    Definitely she got you in the right season. So many great colors for you. That charcoal was fantastic on you.
    I am a bright winter. Over time I have found if I wear the wrong colors, every time I look in the mirror I don't really like what I see, don't feel that I look good, and that can affect my mood for the whole day.
    If I wear the right colors, even without makeup, I just look "right." Bright, happy, optimistic, and I feel like I have a better day. Colors can definitely affect our mood.
    The colors we surround ourselves with like walls and furniture should generally be in our color season if we can. If you take a picture of yourself against a good background color for yourself, it will look so much better than if the background is wrong for us. That can affect people's perception of us when they are looking at us in person, too. I painted my bedroom in a deep but bright red, and it makes me feel really happy when I see it, and when I look in a mirror there I feel like I look pretty good. That affects my mood in a positive way.
    The right scents help, too. I love that she helped you find the right one of those too.

      I’m incredibly picky with colours, and although I’m very appreciative of all colours, I hate most of them for me personally; be it wearing or decorating. I mostly wear and decorate with black, but my favourite colour is purple and I use it as an accent for a lot of things. Then I use green for even smaller accents.
      I am really curious to know if the colours that I love and surround myself with are my “personal” colours or not. I am not someone who strives to look “bright and healthy, etc.” which is usually the goal of finding colours that ‘suit’ you. My preferred aesthetics are much more dark. So im curious to if my preferences actually enhance me according to this theory or not.

    This is an interesting process. I would take it with a grain of salt though. The Korean concept of beauty is different from others around the world. They seem to like the porcelain look. I personally like the tanned look. I’ve seen Tina look gorgeous in white and yellow and they seemed to think it wasn’t her colors. Also they chose these dark colors on her. If you want to look like Morticia Adams then go ahead, use black everyday!

      @ambergerhelper7852 Рік тому +41

      Yeah- they’re really rough to foreigners. Her telling her how dark her skin was, taking entire blocks of colors, telling her she looked like a zombie? 😬

    • @caraperegrine6936
      @caraperegrine6936 Рік тому +12

      yeah beauty standard is different. probably in your country, people hate pale skin and praises tanned skin. i would love to appear brighter tho. maybe it’s just me but caucasians look pretty ugly (sorry if im too blunt) with pale skin but asians look very clean and pretty with pale skin. caucasians somehow look so pretty with tanned skin idk how that works lol.

    • @coffeetae
      @coffeetae Рік тому +9

      Yeah, I thought the plain white contrasted her skin more and made her look tan/glowy. Beige kinda looked washed out imo 😅

    • @coffeetae
      @coffeetae Рік тому +15

      @@caraperegrine6936I would disagree. I’m not caucasian, but I’ve definitely seen some that look great with paler skin (especially if they have super blonde hair or darker toned hair) and some that look too washed out or orange with tans. They still have undertones to consider.

    Thank you for this helpful video Tina. Before I watched this video, I wasn’t sure why I always wore rose gold and muted browns, reds and greens. And avoided pastels and neons. I just knew instinctually that for some reason those were the colors that worked for my skin, eye, and hair tone. Now I know that autumn deeps work well for your light-olive skin, I can apply that knowledge to myself! I happen to have very similar color tones to you.

    Omg Tina. I think we have the same skin tone. I think whatever she was saying was entirely correct. I always thought I look best in deep autumn colours she recommended for you. My skin looks brighter at the same time my features pop. The same with muted pastels which are okay on you. When wearing these colours, intuitively I go heavy on the contouring and eye makeup. After watching this video I guess whatever I thought or was doing intuitively wasn’t wrong. Also I cannot wear bright vibrant colours!!! They bring out all my dark spots and my skin just looks dull. This video has proven that I was right. I don’t need to go and check anymore ig 😂

    May be helpful if you want to wear blues, but I've read that autumns can wear "harbour blues" - and if you look it up, some of images seem to be warm-toned blues, so I'm sure there has to be a shade if not multiple that suit your season

    I totally agree with her except I think the bronze is a metal that looked really pretty on you too. I do think when you especially have yellow skin tones and olive skin tones, those are the harder ones to figure out colors, in my opinion. Also really super pale like my daughter, she struggled with colors too, not so much now but when she was first starting out and I was very surprised at what Reds looked gorgeous on her, I would never have thought a red would look good with such a pale skin but it really can. We had this done here in the US but it wasn’t like this at all, it was a little different but we did find out what color foundations and what colors look good on us and then they explained the color wheel and which colors would go together well on us but I do highly recommend getting this done if you cannot pinpoint your shades. I know when you’re first starting out with make up just trying to figure out your shade and then if you’re neutral or yellow ect it can be very confusing. My daughter was modeling when she was younger and this is something they recommend for young models and we found it quite fun actually.

    I don’t doubt that she’s a professional but professionals can make mistakes too just like anyone can. That being said, I honestly think she has a sort of confirmation bias from the start and just stuck Tina in with the warm dark/black colors. There were so many lighter and brighter colors that looked great on her but the color analyst just disregarded them/stated they were unflattering instead of asking Tina how she felt she looks like with those colors. Imo, Tina didn’t look as lively with those dark colors as she does with the brighter ones.
