This is one of the Best Live Show ever
I am OBSESSED with his VOICE!!! The resonance in his belts are simply UNMATCHED!!! I don’t care what ANYONE says!
me too. I listen daily to Steve's voice. something magical in it. I saw this tour and also ROR in 86. Both nights burned in my memory forever.
The energy, the voice, the talented and beautiful STEVE PERRY. 💗
His vocal agility is unbelievable and unmatched. I've never seen anyone run around like that and jump around and still sing perfectly! Only Steve Perry, aka The Voice, aka The GOAT! ❤❤❤
#FTLOSP
Steve Perry runs laps, jumps around, and can sing like that...and the song is even played faster. Whew and Wow.
is it really was live?
@@unixoid33 It's a remaster version but I think his voice is the original from the concert
Mental - does he have 3 lungs? I cannot believe he legs it about and then just sings perfect held notes
Era joven
Wow!
HOW IS IT EVEN POSSIBLE TO SING LIKE THIS LIVE ON TOUR?! What an epic band
💖💖💖💖
Yes. He could sing!
Its called cocaine
Great soundman or soundwoman putting him on TOP of the music.
And running!
I wish we could rewind back to this day and I’d pay to see this great show
What's amazing is his voice control when running all around the stage like a maniac - incredibly impressive!
I was thinking exactly the same thing! I can't sing half this well standing perfectly still. 😆
@@CelticCat537 I can’t sing at all standing still 🤣
What a voice. What a band.
Saw this tour in '81 , My wife was 8 months pregnant - actually this is the last concert we went to for about 30 years .Got to go backstage and meet the band.
That’s awesome. Such a cool experience.
Oh, I envy. In a good sense of course! Golden Era of true music
damn what a fantastic thing to to when you're heavy with child. Live life to the fullest!
¡Jo qué suerte!
I saw them on this tour in St. Paul, Minnesota. To this day it's the best show I've ever seen!
I am 27, and over the years I have developed a liking for music from the 80s, and tbh, Steve Perry in my opinion is the best vocalist, damn the control.
Amazing vocalist no need to be dressed up or have a circus on stage just a pair of jeans and nike sneakers and an unbelievable voice. How he can run around and sound exactly like his recordings.....He will remain legendary.
The definition of rocking the shit out of a place!
THE GREATEST SINGER EVER.
Steve is hands down the greatest vocalist ever
I wasn’t even born yet but I wish I was there - The first time my dad played them on a road trip and I was hooked! Steve Perry’s voice gives you goosebumps!
Greatest rock vocalist in history, still unmatched, a true legend.
true! greatest vocalist and band... they was super youngs... imagine what they could do...:'(
Not to take anything away from Journey 'cus their vocals *are* outstanding but Freddie Mercury in 1981 wants a word
steve perry, freddie mercury, myles kennedy
@@timchristensen2522 true :P
@@armyofq4786 Ik everyone has their own opinions but Myles Kennedy not in their level vocally. I’m sure you really like him but no
we miss you Steve! if you were part of journey they would be incredible even after 50 years...thank you
I just want a time machine to go see a bunch of concerts I never got experience 😢
Bear în mind it's the final piece of the concert. So after one and a half hour, more or less, he sounds like this. Fabulous.
One of the best vocals ever
SIMPLY LOVE IT. Our era was by far the best of all times. Real music, real people and great contributions to society, no matter how weird, odd, different you were. Everyone was great.
Today SUCKS in every sense. Conceit, Arrogance, Social Media Fake Idols and Mediocrity in the escapades.
💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯!!!!
Everything you said is the ABSOLUTE TRUTH!! 😻💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼
Steve Perry’s voice/vocals is something no one could ever replicate, copy, emulate, match, practice, sound a like; it’s something you’re born with. A God given gift he was born with of absolutely genuine, pure, powerful, golden, crisp, smooth, spectacular beauty of a voice that we are all glad he brought to and shared with the world. Greatest vocalist the world has ever heard. Thank you Steve Perry and God Bless.
This guy Literally sound just as good as the studio version, without any fucking effort...HOW!!!???😍
Honestly, if you listen to a lot more of his live performances, you will see he actually sounds better live than the studio version. The man is blessed with so much talent.
@@flowergirl2090 he was blessed with so much talent
@@ejtamayo5317 Most of it is still there; but he is 71 years old now.
Because he is not a human being☹
Long live Steve Perry
I saw him live he did sound great not that common in rock when go to concert think it will sound just as good. I remember guns and roses were awful live. Iron Maiden was really good live I was in my teens in the mid 80's Journey was more late 70's early 80's. You never think at the time this might be the last time you ever see them perform.
Now this, is a "Fully--Charged" Rock Song!! Steve Perry/Journey was "Undeniably Awesome!" 😉❤️🎙🎶🎸🎵🥁🎶🎹🎵🎸🎶💖👏🏻👏🏻
The REAL Journey. I worked security on this tour. We did around 130 show’s starting in Japan. All over the world. It was one of the greatest years of my life. My best friend in the army, his Dad was a big shot in the security company, so he hired me. Wow. We had a lot of fun. My ears are still ringing lol
He is a legend and he has no equal!!
Greatest voice ever recorded. PERIOD.
You should listen to mr. Dickenson yes I do mean Bruce
Maiden Still tours today and Bruce still sounds just as awesome as he did in the 70s and in my opinion still holds the record for the most Primal scream in Rock and Roll History ever
To run around that much on stage and still have perfect pitch and range is why he is th Voice!
The way Steve got the audience involved
Is just awesome!!!!
It's so crazy, the people in the audience never realized they were witnessing HISTORY ❤️
Have you ever heard of a guy called Elvis?
@@johnnyquist8362 lol pretty sure they have. the commenter was simply saying that the people in the artist were witnessing history in the making. they didn’t say that they were better than Elvis LOL more than one person can make history, no?
@@haleyes98 But they are better than Elvis.
I’m an 80’s girl and have always loved Steve Perry and Journey but good grief I have just realized how phenomenal they truly are!
I love that head tilt he does when he hits extra high notes
and the arm goes up!
Man he could SING !!! Love his voice !!!
It's called
"Reality " of Real Talent
Steve Perry is an amazing singer, beautiful voice, heart of gold. The world needs more Steve Perry.
He's amazing singer, his voice is so fine and clear. You can feel the energy with this song, so epic
He has the best hair 🙌🏼👌🏼
Best LIVE vocal performance of all time!
I don’t think there will ever be a voice like Steve’s ….
I was lucky to see them live in the 80's. Steve was perfect.
Starting with the ESCAPE tour, Steve Perry no longer was 'tethered' to a microphone with a cable. The wireless mic permitted Steve to run around stage and throw his energy to the audience. The audience gave back that energy x1,000 to the band. Little things like this are how bands become megastars.
Oh wow I ddnt know that, that's awesome 👌🏼
Best singer ever, great band, great songs
This music it's so very really good! I'm hearing this song in Brazil. Steve Perry, i love you. You're so amazing...❤
This guy is crazy... What charisma... Flow of pure passion and enthusiasm.
Damn! I watch Arnel's performance of this and I was like, damn! But when I came to watch this, Oh man, its a difference level.
You know you're a good singer when people are dying to hear you sing a high pitched note almost more than they want to hear a beautiful guitar solo.
Now that's Journey 🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤
I love Steve Perry! Best vocalist ever. Irreplaceable. His voice is perfect, like liquid gold.
Kim Martin I love Steve Perry too! He's one of my favorite male singers ever! He's what makes Journey such an iconic band. That voice is hauntingly beautiful.
I agree 💯
Yes great but can you say Freddie Mercury
Greatest ever.
What blows my mind is he's not only singing like this but RUNNING AROUND THE FREAKING STAGE AT THE SAME TIME! :-O
Almost forty years have gone by and this is still one of the most inspiring performances ever. The whole band, especially Steve, was on their game and truly made something special that night. Glad it was captured on film. Stuff like this reminds me why the internet is such a great thing.
Friday night rock concerts were the bomb back the !
2024 and I’m still listening and loving it 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
It sucks when your head starts to swell up, but Steve Perry's voice Is the best voice I've ever heard. He can't sing more though, it sucks getting old some singers keep it like Zeppelin, and others loose it.
Whilst Steve P is unmatched in this, kudos to Steve Smith and Ross V for the absolute powerhouse rhythm driving this thing along.
After belting out song after song and running all over the stage for over an hour, Steve still manages to hold that last high note for a friggin 10 seconds. 👏👏👏
1:36 beautiful power voice
The energy and the chaos of him on that stage and the vocal is still tremendous 👏 👏
THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME!!!!
Very few vocalists in history could do it as effortlessly as this man. Some singers could only dream to hit some of the notes that he did and he did it as easy as breathing.
what a gig that was... took my wife there to see them in houston, as we were visiting our in laws at the time when we heard journey was in town in houston. we decided to check them out and see if they were good, and we were BLOWN away by this concert!! the memoirs...
I can't find it anywhere on the net but they snuck in a show in San Antonio on this tour with AC/DC opening. Odd show. Two great rock bands but definitely two different kinds of rock! AC/DC camee back only four months later as headliner with New England and someone else, can't remember. I paid $8.50 a ticket for these shows! Great times!
Ryan1980 yup..I was there as well..it was at The Summit
You lucky sons of guns😩👍🏿
Liar, General Grievous didn't have a wife!
@@weijohn24 ?
Undisputed greatest singer to have ever been recorded. Even over Pavarotti, his only competitor.
Steve Perry is awesome singer, has the voice that
can't be imitated. It so clear and full of feeling! Lyrics
of an angel!
Verissimo
Steve was good but what happened to him? Haven’t heard of him since 1986. Journey’s current singer Arnel Pineda sounds as good or better than Steve
@@imwithchomskyThat’s just fuckin’ ridiculous)
In my opinion, this concert was the one where the whole band played their best show ever and Perry was at his best ever all around.
George I saw this tour in Hampton, VA one of the best concerts EVER
Yesss i wish i was there :((((
I agree. This was Journey's pinnacle. This album and tour, the high point of their career.
I don't know about that. I saw them on this tour, for the Escape album, in May of '82 and what you see here I saw there. Pure energy and a whole lot of fun.
No doubt George. I saw this tour back to back nights. Friday night at Poplar Creek Amphitheatre in suburbs of Chicago and Saturday night at Alpine Valley, Wisconsin. UNBELIEVABLE weekend, so much fun. I wanna go back 😞😟😤😢😭
Steve is so amazing 😍❤️
Yessss
2:39-2:49 my absolute favorite part of this song, when he totally floats those gorgeous notes 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕 he is epic
The God voice!
I just constantly play that part on repeat...so amazing!
Belissima música
and I thought I was the only one 😂
Man. I just have no words. I Heard this son for the first time more than 40 years ago. Really. I still can't describe today Steve Perry, Neal Schon and the rest of the band magic, talent or however you want to call it.. I'll be a fan ti'l I die.
My parents have the DVD of every live performance of this tour and would always play it in the living room for my brothers and I to watch. I’m 18 now and this still gives me chills, that’s how good Journey is and will always be
OMG I'd love to have that DVD of the entire tour.
You have great parents. My son is 26 & was raised on all this amazing music. I am blown away at all the young people that have never even heard of Journey or so many other amazing bands. I was determined my kid knew good music. I blame the parents for not exposing their kids to real music. So glad to hear your parents did it right.
wait wait WAIT! you have to upload all that so that we can see it, share it with the worldddd
it's a matter of preserving their history
.
I proudly own this DVD! I was there and I promise you it was spectacular ❤
A really great live performance in today’s terms unseen. Love ❤️ Journey.
Steve Perry AAMMMAAZING!!! Noone can take the place of that incredible GOD given voice!
LOVE the era, the fashion, the hair, the vocals, the musicians, perfect concert, Steve perry needs a emmy for that voice and range !!!!
He should get one for how fast he had to sing it lol.
They all had hot bodies. OMG the jeans. LOL. How do they even move with the tight jeans. :p
An Emmy? That’s for shows, plays etc. a Grammy is for music.
@@TheBroccoliFiles flattest butts Ive ever seen! especialy Neals.
@@MareShoopa Grammy and an Emmy than. One for the singing/vocals and one for the performance.
This song is just beautiful! 😊
Love how Steve owned the crowd he just point they knew exactly what to do he was amazing performer singer why he's the Voice Steve Perry
One of the best performances of all time
Incredible performance by the whole band but Steve Perry just seemed to be on a different level... Best singer💘❤️ 🌹🎤🎙️ 🎶🎵
Wish so much I could travel time and enjoy freedom while enjoying this Houston show. This century sucks shit.
Steve Perry. The greatest ever. Alone on the peak of Everest. The absolute greatest.
Steve in great shape here. Running ' singing and putting on hell of a show. Top 5 front men of all time.
Brilliant. That's how rock should be.
NoTengoIlusiones definetly
@Richardo Frankie Facts
Those belts are so PURE! Jeez.
Ladies and Gentleman..."The Voice"!
I love when bands enjoy their performance as much as the audience. A sincere and stunning performance from Steve Perry, Neil Schon, Steve Smith, Jon Cain and Ross Vallory.
Everyone of them a show unto itself. Never a more talented band.
@@tammylewis8556 I agree
It's Jan 2020 ....and...
Steve is NOT FINISHED.. he just did a solo album in 2018 Traces! His voice is the SAME.. he's 70 now and STILL got it!
Ima, Steve Perry's voice is NOT the same on Traces versus the Escape tour. Are u kidding me, get your're ears checked. If it was he'd probably been out touring before Covid hit. He sounds ok, but could not get even close to the same range he is getting at now here on the Escape tour. 39 years ago 🤯
@@bradcrawford1998 His voice may not be the same but DAMN, he still sounds GOOD!!! And lets not forget that the Escape Tour was 38 yrs. ago! A person's voice does age along with the rest of the body.
@@heatherkealoha4137 Heather, you took my comment out of context. YES, YES, YES his voice still sounds good. I love some of the songs off Traces and I would pay $100's of dollars for a ticket to see SP in concert right now. My point was, the comment was that his voice still sounds the same as back during Escape is NOT TRUE ☹. I wish it did, but not so. I am 59 years old and saw Journey on EVERY tour they did. I know S Perrys voice and it's not the same. Journey was my first live concert I saw, Infinity tour 1979. I was HOOKED! Miss them a ton. I thought Steve Augeri was an awesome fill the gap, saw him 3 times, and Arnel 2-3 times, OMG, what a magical fit Arnel was. Neal Schonn is so underrated in music talent and the business side of music.
He's my favorite ♥
I saw him in 1981. Nobody will ever hit that range again..not even Steve.
Steve Perry was unreal live. ludicrously good vocals
Blessed voice
God gave us a gift.
Damn, Steve perry actually might be the greatest male vocalist of all time. And he did it so effortless .
The only other male singer that I can think of that sings high so effortlessly is Geoff Tate from Queensryche.
Jordan Kowalski he is amazing but let’s not forget about Freddie Mercury now...
Robert Plant is pretty fucking great.
For me top 3 are: Mercury, Perry and Plant
@@CptSlow89 StevenTyler is in his 70's and he can still hit the high notes.👏👏👏
UNBE-FUCKING-LIEVABLE!!! Out of this planet performance!!!
We will never have or experience this ever again so sad 😭
So grateful for the recording of this in all of its glory. Wow.
2021 and still unmatched. Man, those soaring notes are something else.
It never will be matched!!
These were the days before auto-tune, too. This man was a beast on vocals!
This is Journey at their best
He belt it out from Houston to Mars!
The fact that he is just running around the stage is great.
I keep going back to the videos of their perfomance in Houston every now and then.
I wish I was there to see these guys at their peak...
Undoubtedly one of their best perfomances and Steve had a set of pipes on him back then that are unmatched on many levels.
The BEST SINGER EVER!! Love you Steve ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Steve's hand raised...oh, and ready for take off!!!! That's epic❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I love hearing them sing❤❤❤
Back in the day they didnt play it slower than the original but FASTER. My respect.
Faster is always easier for the singer because he doesn't have to hold the notes as long.
@@tilesetter1953 - I was just wondering why that was. I actually prefer the slower version. I just assumed faster was harder because you had to get so many words in such a short period of time. I used to sing in a choir and holding the note longer was easier for me.. but then I am not in concert bouncing around. lol. Thanks for the explanation.
Cocaine is a hell of a drug.
I know this is how the song is supposed to be, PERFECT!
The performances I’ve seen so far from this show are in the same class as Queen at Live Aid. An elite rock singer at his best.
This is music, this is a real anda amazing voice and not what is there now.
I ENVY WITH PASSION EVERY SINGLE PERSON AT THAT CONCERT & ALL THE PPL THAT WENT TO THEIR CONCERTS IN THE 80S! you were treated like almost anyone has had & witnessed history in the making by watching Mr. Perry sing with Journey. what I wouldve given to be of proper age to go watch them. now we have to conform ourselves just with a sound-a-like.
