Jamie Foxx really needs a biopic of his life, especially recreations of all the stories he talks about in his interviews (Throwing all those house parties, first time meeting Jay Z / Kanye, etc)
I can't Imagine how much work goes into these, your writing, editing and storytelling skills are crazy. Also I think this is the best Dodford video yet, Absolute masterpiece.
As always, you made an amazing doc. But I just want to highlight how incredible it was the way you were able to take the nugget of his grandma saying classical music will "get you to the other side of the tracks" and use that as the center of your video and tie it in to him winning and earning the record for the academy awards. That was beautiful and got me a little teary eyed. Amazing work.
I imagine Jamie fox himself hasn't witnessed this documentary yet but if he did he would endorse it. The amount of content you put into a 20 minute documentary is incredible. I've seen a couple now and if this guy died tomorrow ( god forbid) it would be a piece fit for a funeral monologue. I am 38 years old but I didnt realise this man had so many feathers to his hat and have a new found respect for Jamie Fox as a role model and inspirational person. As for the creator. It doesn't get much better than this.
I got goosebumps in the "you're blowing it" segment and i was tearing up by the end. You're doing these legends justice with these documenteries. Never stop improving
Dude... wtf this is so unbelievably well put together i... what? this is some of the best production work I've ever seen and it's on youtube like... WHAT?! YOU'RE INCREDIBLE!!!
As per usual, beautifully done. Providing newly shot footage of key locations is another notch and step up in your craft. Not sure if no sponsor spot for specific reasons, but tonally, leaving this one as is, without any inserted segment really made it land both gentler, and harder.
A true film maker in works. When you win the oscar i'll be there to say "I watched him before he was big." Your times coming man, this one almost brought me to tears. Can't wait for January.
DUDE!! YOU MADE ME CRY!!! That was a beautiful way of ending that whole gathering of clips. Magnificent job. Keep at it please. This was amazing. It’s my first video of yours. Gotta check out the rest. Will you do a Jim Carrey one. I love that man.
Such a beautiful story so beautifully told by the man himself. It's hard sometimes to see the opportunity you have. It's hard sometimes to grasp why things happen the way they do. But it gets easier when we have the backing of a good parent, a good teacher, a good friend. Work hard and be patient. Take the initiative and show the gold that lies inside you. Starting from a place of privilege is not needed to succeed, so long as the drive is there in you, and Jamie is a wonderful example of that. And thank you again, Dodford, for making these docs that are some of the purest forms of storytelling on here. I can't wait for the next one. See you next year 😄
These videos are so criminally underviewed, and I'm so glad I get to enjoy them. The storytelling and quality of each and every video is unmatched. Sooner or later, there's going to be companies wanting to take this away from UA-cam onto their platform, and I really hope that the videos keep the same heart and soul that they have now. Thank you for teaching me so much about these incredible people.
That acceptance speech was something else! And the way you introduced what she means to him throughout and how he almost lost his way .. uff beautiful editing So yeah, I'm definitely in tears now. thanks
I have to say your video didn't appear on my suggestions. After all, this is not the type of content that I normally watch, first because I'm portuguese and most of the time i prefer content in portuguese and second because I don't care about actors and Hollywood, I mean, I don't remember the last time I saw a Oscar. I came to your content because I was learning about editing, and I have to say, your work is inspiring, beautiful, and a masterpiece. For me, you are a genius. Thank you for your amazing storytelling and editing techniques. You are the man. Keep the great work
“She still talks to me now” Goosebumps ❤ Incredible editing and storytelling, truly wonderful to let the people shine on their own and tell their own story
Dodford, amazing work and an amazing year behind you. I am looking to see your work on the big big picture someday. You are great inspiration and master of your craft!
you are on a whole other lever. imagine the research that comes with this and the fact that most if not all of the dialogue was from jamie's interviews is just amazing.
Beautiful video, you let the main character tell his story, the video has a wonderful flow to it, you're very good at this, I'm happy to have subscribed some time ago.
God level editing, you didn't even have to talk and everybody who watched this video was able to follow along with ease, you're an amazing content creator man. btw, the Kanye bit gave me hope that someday we'll see a Dodford video on him, with how interesting and shifting his life is, it has chances to be your magnum opus
I have never been more in awe of a UA-cam recommendation and never had one video so quickly send me to subscribe. This documentary is phenomenal. The amount of research, the framing and storytelling, your editing--this was amazing. I learned so much about Jamie, it connected the basics I already knew about him together with so much more context and nuance, and made me tear up at the end and head over to hug my own grandmother. What amazing work!
What a story. I can imagine a biopic being made on Jamie Foxx titled crossing the tracks or both sides of the tracks. Amazing documentary as always with top notch editing
Heyo Dodford crew! I wanna say, the thumbnail change is a bit better! The last thumbnail had a bit too much going on, for me it was part of the reason for delaying clicking the video! Love what you guys do! You guys make great productions~! :D
@11:30 i'm not sure if you did the captions but injury reserve is a single phrase love the videos as always, have a happy hoidays edit: man, what an ending, great way to end a great year on.
Great timing after Ferriss reposted his legendary 2015 pod-o-year with Jamie Foxx.... he's primed them for you. Brilliant and getting even better Daniel.
I really enjoyed that there was seamless history told without your comments. Dont get me wrong, its not that you are bad at it, but in story like this, it is crucial in my opinion to let the meterial say everything for itself without any breaks. No ads helped too.
this was really amazing. Every video of yours is a theatre experience, wow. This is the reason I eagerly wait for dodford's video, giving a new direction to the youtube world
The water works with your doc always catches me by surprise and always at the very end when I least expected. Gah! Love this one as well. Even before he became famous, Jamie was charismatic, well-liked, and full of energy. It's no wonder he rocketed up so fast - he already believed in himself, so it was easy for the world to believe in him. But he couldn't have believed in himself without his grandma who gave him that gift. Wonderful.
Wow, this was incredible. The way you centered the perspective of this documentary around Estelle’s prophetic instillation of transcendent values into Jamie, so he could go back and forth between the train track, was so moving it’s brought me to tears this Christmas Eve morning. Jamie Foxx is an extraordinary human being, and you highlighted the incredible force that was Estelle behind him, so beautifully. This story will stay with me, and I am thankful.
Outside of the talents of Jamie aka Eric, I must say the editing, crafting, and curating of this doc is amazing. Well done, you got a new subscriber in me.
Masterpiece of a documentary
I second that. That last part got me 😢
Without question, one of the most multi-talented people to ever have lived.
and Jamie Foxx is pretty good too
He's practically our generation's Sammy Davis Jr. He's an incredible dude!
the audio mix on this is phenomenal
All credit to Dan Pugsley, the goat!
Jamie Foxx really needs a biopic of his life, especially recreations of all the stories he talks about in his interviews (Throwing all those house parties, first time meeting Jay Z / Kanye, etc)
No please. A biopic would make it cheesy and try to add fiction. A documentary like Carlin's recent one would be much better.
I can't Imagine how much work goes into these, your writing, editing and storytelling skills are crazy. Also I think this is the best Dodford video yet, Absolute masterpiece.
He’s a genius
I agree。The laser focus attention it takes.
Like bro, this is freaking documentary and it has been uploades 3 days ago. I was watching legend youtube old videos, then this popped up
Amen. The ability to edit and have the subject tell their story from pre-existing media is really admirable.
And this shit only gets 150k views after 2 weeks? I want to km$
I literally got tears at the end, what a great documentary.
Man I always knew Jamie was talented but I never realised how hard he worked. What an inspiration
Jamie Foxx slipped and almost hit the ground but he still manages to pick himself back up. Capable and hard working man that he is.
As always, you made an amazing doc. But I just want to highlight how incredible it was the way you were able to take the nugget of his grandma saying classical music will "get you to the other side of the tracks" and use that as the center of your video and tie it in to him winning and earning the record for the academy awards. Expert use of a motif if I ever did see one; one helluva video, top notch indeed. *chef’s-kiss* 🤌🏼

17:20 this whole section is incredible to think about, Jamie really got put on the right path by the right people
yes the right people... the right path 🦉
@@HarmlessComment ugh
Kanye could learn a thing or two from Jamie Foxx

Personally my favourite video yet, smashed it again Dodford ⭐️🙌🏼
Thank you 🙌
The fact dodford makes these movie quality mini documentaries for free on UA-cam is crazy.

Not gonna lie, almost teared up at the end.

Super well made, you let the images tell the story rather than interviews. I like your style
Gotta say though, your editing/editor is next level 👌👍🙏
he edits these himself. he used to make editing tutorials on tiktok.
Yeah nah yeah, he's good at it for sure 👌

Astonishing quality. If it had HBO logo at the begining I would believe it. Congrats on creativity and execution.

Wow. Just wow... What an incredible video. Great work Dodford.

Fantastic storytelling, and that nod to Inception at the end in relation to Jamie's mention of talking to his grandmother in his dreams, love it.
