I remember them giving a different excuse...that most of their sales were people stopping on their way to work so McD made the coffee hotter than normal so that it would be at the right temperature by the time they arrived at work.

The worst part about the McDonald's coffee one was that people view that poor woman as a Karen because of a huge smear campaign against her so the company wouldn't face as much pressure from the public to pay out
It's frustrating, especially when there were lawsuits before that lawsuit about the coffee.
One of the main reasons why I don’t drink coffee (or alcohol).
A smear campaign by a mainstream media outlet.
They even got Hollywood in on it. How many sitcoms at that time had episodes making light of it.
And the lie helped George Bush and co. push the awful idea of tort reform, an anti-consumer ideology.
In a sad twist of irony, the McDonald’s coffee lawsuit actually just became relevant to my own life. Last week a good friend of my parents spilled hot McDonald’s coffee on her lap when she tried to take a sip while sitting in her car. She’s still undergoing skin grafting in order to treat the second and third degree burns she obtained from it, and she’s working with her husband to get a good lawyer to sue McDonald’s for criminal negligence. I genuinely hope it works out for them because not only is she out of work until the burns are fully healed, but she also can’t do anything on her own and the couple is now dealing with exuberant medical bills as well as the money lost from her being unable to work.
Now before anyone says that she just wasn’t being careful and spilled it on accident while driving, she was completely stationary as the car was parked. When she went to pick up the cup only to learn the cup melted from the scalding hot coffee and practically disintegrated when she tried taking a sip.
This isn’t a joke post or anything, just me trying to show that even now McDonald’s coffee is still dangerous due to how hot it is (and apparently from how shoddy the cups are made in my opinion). It’s been 30 years since that 1992 suit, and nothings really changed.
Now see, I think this version of the case holds more water. In this instance there is a clear product failure that led to the burn, not an act of clumsiness with a hot cup of coffee in your lap like the original case (in my recollection she took the lid off and bumped the cup in the process and IMO doing so with a hot liquid in your lap is negligent on her part). Hopefully your friend took pictures and/or saved the cup for the court case, it's hard to fake a melted cup, though of course they will have to somehow or another prove that it wasn't falsified by heating the cup or adding an already boiling liquid from another source or something, courts rely on irrefutable evidence, after all, people try to fake and scam all the time so you have to remove all doubt.

The lady had nowhere to put the cup, put it in her lap - something I've known so many to do -and when it spilled, instead of just leaving her with a pink mark, it fused her genitals to her leg. Yes, spilling was on her but serving coffee at 200 degrees F (93 degrees C) is bloody ridiculous for something meant to be immediately consumed.

They made it hotter, which costs them more BTW because keeping water hotter costs more money, because they found people were getting it and driving to work and drinking it there and they wanted it still hot. If you are an adult you should be able to judge the temperature of a liquid and act accordingly. The government is not your fkn parents and you are not a baby, grow the mother fkn fck up.
Was there an update on this? Litigation really sounds plausible if the cup melted/warped under heat of the coffee.
Just imagine what would’ve happened if she actually drank it with it being that hot 😰 I hope everything works out with the case and she makes a quick and easy recovery
I'm so, so glad more people are shedding light on the McDonald's coffee story. I grew up hearing jokes about the case and the woman who was burned, and when I found out the true story I was appalled. I hope she was able to recover from her burns, as well as the pointless hate and mockery people sent her way. I can't imagine how that must have felt for her.
All I'm saying is, they must've made the coffee LITERAL lava for her to be hospitalized like that
@@IShy2 Hopefully this is sarcasm but part of her injuries were due to the fabric she was wearing. She was wearing sweat pants and it soaked up the coffee, holding it against her skin. She had zero protection outside of that flimsy lid. For anyone wondering why she didn't just use a cup holder, the car she was in, her grandson's iirc, didn't have cup holders. And the car was parked, not moving. Poor woman was only seeking enough money to pay her medical bills, not looking for a big pay out. If McDonald's hadn't been sued so many times about the same issue previously and taken any measures to limit the burn risk, she might not have gotten anything. I'm pretty sure McDs spent more in lawyer fees than they ended up paying her in the end

All I'm saying is two things can be true at once: McDonald's coffee shouldn't be that hot, and she's still incredibly stupid for trying to hold a cup of hot coffee between her thighs with yoga pants on. Guess what you do when you don't have cupholders? You don't get the fucking drink in the first place!

To this day people STILL make jokes about it, no one mentions the fact that she was 79 years old and that she suffered from complications from it for the rest of her life. Thank you for always being respectful and for always doing such thorough research
or the fact that the coffee INSTANTLY burned her. And not on the leg or arm, in between the legs, to the point where fused skin needed surgery.
Lawsuit also originally just started out as a demand that McDonalds pay her medical bills. Another case of McDonalds' crack legal team messing stuff up. See them losing the Big Mac trademark in Europe for more.

The worst part to me is that the amount she got was based on how much they make in coffee sales in like, a day or two, if I'm remembering correctly. So that was nothing to them. And I'm fairly certain she actually got much less

The issue with Super Size Me is that, ever since the movie was released, there have been multiple attempts (several by major universities) to replicate Spurlock's "results" and every single attempt has failed.
He might have been uniquely susceptible to fast food. That's why all medical studies need a large sample to kick out outliers.
According to some sources that's because the man behind it stopped taking his normal medications and exercise routine...Which you know would mess you up regardless of what you're eating.
Not to say mcdonalds is healthy but the guy behind it had a goal/message/image he wanted to sell and knew how best to milk it for money.
Ah yeah I had read those results too 🤔 I believe there was an irish university that tested some students on it and found the same thing. Obviously some weight was gained 😄 But nothing like the cholesterol and kidney results Super Size me got.
They were bound to fail, given that Spurlock ate way more calories that he claimed in that fraudulent "documentary". They tried to replicate his meals in the documentary Fat Head and no combination of available items that he described eating (e.g. burger + fries + drink) could be found that totaled as few calories as he claimed to have eaten. It wasn't even close.
I would agree however the epidemic of 3 foot wide derrieres possessed by many of the purveyors of McDonald's and fast foods would kind of speak otherwise. I mean I've been to other countries that have McDonald's there too but here in America the standard diet of literal garbage doesn't seem to do our health any good. Our country has the highest rate of sickness and sells the most drugs to its population than any other country in the world that should tell you something. Plus the fact that you can get a really crappy meal for a couple of bucks but if you want a salad it's gonna cost you $10. This is another factor why the population will eat garbage because it's priced cheaper
Thank you for talking about the truth behind Stella's story. I still see people believing the version that McDonalds twisted around to make her look like the bad guy. Yes, coffee should be hot, but it shouldn't literally fuse your skin together.
Shoot, you're right. What kind of negligent moron keeps allowing people to boil water *far hotter* than that coffee on a stove!? Adults treating hot liquids with respect, impossible!
I know Stella didn't do it intentionally, but her actions were ultimately negligent. It's easy to tell how hot a drink is through the cup, she should've let it cool before trying to put creamer into it and definitely shouldn't have done it in her lap like that.
@@nunyabusiness896 The car she was in didn't have cup holders. McDs was found to be 80% liable, mainly because of the amount of complaints and lawsuits from burns over the years from the coffee and how they took no efforts to fix the situation. They knew their product was hotter and more dangerous than average coffee but ultimately chose to keep it at that temp to reduce the frequency they would need to clean the coffee containers, and extra layer of ick on the case.
But yes, Stella was a bit to blame and she wasn't seeking a huge pay out, literally just enough to cover her hospital bills.
I used to work at McDs as a teen in the early 2000s and those coffee cup lids still were flimsy POSs. They'd rip easily and I'd make extra sure the lid was on firmly if the customer didn't want cream or sugar. Most customers would also double check too. I'd see customers put it on firmly then come back for a new lid a minute later because it ripped when they took it off to add creamer or sugar

Yes, we boil water much hotter than that on our stoves everyday, but we don't expect to put that boiling pan straight to our lips and be able to drink it. When I buy a coffee, call me entitled but I *do* expect to be able to put that coffee to my lips and be able to drink it without scalding the taste from my mouth, just like I expect to buy McDonald's fries and be able to stick my hand in and eat them right off the bat as well.
@@gokuxsephiroth4505 I don't drink coffee nor do I ever drink in the car, and certainly not a hot drink. Drink your damn sht at home before you leave or at the hotel or restaurant or whatever. Skill issue
When I was a shift supervisor at McD's back in the 80's. One of my checklist duties was to calibrate the machines, juice, soda, and coffee. I found the juice machine was set too low and adjusted it, I also found the coffee maker set at it's highest setting, (210), and I reset it down to 155-160. I was written up! I retaliated by getting in touch with the health dept. and had the store fined, (I was made to reverse the temps, which would allow the juice machines to be to warm and form bacteria, and the coffee way too hot), I was suspended for 2 weeks, until the new owners took over. It was just plain stupid on McD's part. In retrospect, coffee sales did go up, because it no longer tasted of scalded camel spit, and juice waste went down.
Here's my personal bizarre 'Scandal'. In college one of my close friends used to work at a busy McD, so I heard a lot of weird stories. One time there came a man that wanted to talk with the manager. He claimed he ate an EggMcMuffin at their restaurant a day before and apparently it made him constipated. However the most bizarre part was that he didn't threaten them with a law suit, but instead that he'll going to slander them in a local talk show.
The gave him a fruit pie so he'd get lost. Also apparently some places nickname fruit pies as 'F*ck-off Pies' since they give them to people who complain because they're easiest to write off.
Mad guy? Give ‘em pie!

I always knew about the truth behind the McDonald's coffee story, but I had never heard about the actual temperatures. Both places I had been a barista at had our Bunn water machines also set to 180. I didn't realize how potentially dangerous that was until now. At Dutch Bros, our training told us to steam milk at maximum 150-155, but the americanos (espresso and hot water) was always 180. I hope that nobody has gotten hurt accidentally. They would HAVE to have known about this lawsuit. I wonder why it was so hot.
"Super Size Me" was a scandal in itself because he refused to release the doctor's findings and reports. Many people called BS on his experiment. Not that fast food is healthy, but his guy got a lot of notoriety from this and made bank with other "documentaries".

and even then he literally made sure the effects would be as bad as possible even if it was all legit, eating a meal almost double the calories of the normal meals they sell everyday and not properly exercising is of course going to make your health rapidly drop, sure if he got normal meals from mcdonalds instead it wouldn't have been very good either but there it would not have been as absurdly severe as it seemed to be but still would have served the point not to eat too much fast food
It gets better: He used his girlfriend's cooking to get better, and he used the doc to help her vegan catering business.

It was proven that the caloric intake he claimed was less than he was actually eating. Rigging the numbers to get his desired affect.
One scandal I recently found out was the Burger King pokeball scandal around 1999 where they had pokeball toys in their kids meals, but there were reports of young children suffocating to death on them which caused BK to air adverts requesting a recall in the toys which set them back millions.
I remember that one, yeah. Josh covered that in a previous episode, though I don't remember precisely which one.

It's true small kids could place a ball half over both nose and mouth and suffocate themselves!
so bk had a recall where you could bring the balls in for a free small fry... Though my parents just threw mine in the trash even though I was big enough that I wasn't at risk (kids that were were like babies)
It also caused a change in the mold used for the store bought figures made by tomy afterwards the pokeballs had holes in them so kids couldn't hurt themselves with those ether
The dumbest part of that scandal was that the kid in question was like three months old, so it was a clear case of child neglect. Of course, the parents wouldn't cop to that, opting instead to start a website called Pokemon Kills.

I remember watching Super Size Me in highschool and then having to do a project based around all the ingredients in certain foods and how they were unhealthy for you. It warped my mind so badly that I swore off Mcdonalds and fast food specifically for almost 2 years. I indulge here and there as an adult now (definitely less than I did as a kid), but seeing clips from the documentary just took me back.
I don't care that this comment is 2 months old, but you should know that Supersize Me is full of bad science. You want a better documentary on the subject? Watch Fat Head instead.

I hate it when people keep blaming the old lady for her coffee burns. There's absolutely NO reason to heat coffee so hot that it DESTROYS the cup its in. It's literally a violation on McDonald's part, especially when numerous people have complained. They should've shoveled out more money in that lawsuit.

I think the best part of Super Size Me was when they went into schools and called them out for their unhealthy lunches they provided. It's kind of hypocritical for schools to talk about all the healthy foods in health class, and then provide slop that is definitely not good for you.
Yeah... good thing I live in Australia, where the food you get from the school is food you order or buy at the canteen (or tuckshop, depending on which state you're in), be it a pie from the local bakery, a ham, cheese and tomato sandwich or a lasagna. Otherwise, you can take your own food to school.
I would say that is the reason why cafeterias shouldn’t exist, but then I thought about homeless children and now I’m pretty much in limbo
@@stephaniethebatter7975 You just reminded me of that one time when I was in like Year 8 or Year 9 (so 2001-2002), I bought 1 Mars Bar, and ended up having a run of *six* free bars (as it was 1-in-6 has a free bar winner), before my school's canteen managed to put a stop to my run of great luck.
That was 1 purchase got me a total of 7 bars before I got stopped.
The probability of that is 0.0001250286% or nearly 8000-to-1 (7x D6 rolls; 1x D6 for the first purchase to win on a 6, then 5x D6 to win on a 6, then 1x D6 to fail on a 1-5)

That Super Size Me doc is such bullshit. People have tried to replicate his results and they can't. The only way he got so unhealthy was he intentionally over-ate and intentionally tried not to be active. Other people who have done the same diet have actually lost weight and have lowered their cholesterol
The McDonald’s coffee incident wasn’t because a woman wanted money, but because she wanted McDonald’s to care about the fact that they were endangering their customers, and what do you do to get a company that only cares about money to do something? Yep, come for their cash
Thank you for how you handled the discussion of the "McDonald's Coffee" lawsuit. I don't know if you're aware, but attorneys actually use that case as a metric in voir dire to determine whether potential jurors are willing to set aside preconceived notions when provided new facts. It's a good indicator of whether someone can overcome their bias.
As to the issue of Subway chicken and soy beans, I would like to say that given the nearly 100% price increase that Subway has instituted since June 2022 (I'm entirely serious about that; I paid half as much for a 6" steak egg and cheese with *double meat* than what I pay now with just a single serving of meat - and the less expensive option was purchased in a hospital where my son was inpatient last June) - given that, I absolutely want my meat to be meat and not soy beans/filler. If I'm going to pay as much for one sandwich with one _very thin_ chicken breast on it as I do for an _entire pound_ of chicken at the grocer's, then it had best be actual chicken I'm getting. So I can understand the upset over that one a lot more than I can some of the other issues.
I remember hearing an interesting critique of Super Size Me. Basically, the body's metabolism and what it's used to eating plays a large role in weight and what foods the body is better at processing. The main criticism was the fact that the man in question was vegan, so his body wasn't even used to digesting meat, let alone the stuff at mcdonalds, so the health outcomes he got were a bit inflated from what they would be for the average person. I don't know for sure if all of that is true, I'm just going off of memory, but it's a very interesting perspective either way.
There were some interesting follow up studies in universities too finding the same diet to 30 or so students didn't create the same result either. They weren't feeling great after but not as bad as super size me 😆
In college I had a friend who was a vegetarian since childhood. One day a bunch of us who were learning German at the time decided to go to the Oktoberfest in nearby Cincinnati. For some reason, he insisted on trying a bratwurst hotdog. We all warned him that it wasn't a good idea for him, not being used to meat or saturated fat, but he insisted. Afterwards he got very sick and swore off meat again. We all had the same hotdogs and no one else got sick, so either he had extraordinarily bad luck and got a bad one, or it was indeed his stomach that just couldn't handle it. So if the guy who made that film was vegan, I can well imagine that McD's overwhelmed his system. Too bad he didn't have a non-vegan partner do the experiment with him as a control.

The horsemeat scandal was huge news here in the UK- all the major supermarkets here came under fire. However, it did make for some pretty hilarious horse puns in headlines and social media 🤣
As one cartoonist put it “War Horse: You’ve seen the film, now buy the burger”...
However, in the U.K., reporting on the scandal was focused more on frozen food companies such as Findus...

I can. Findus produces products like lasagne and they do crispy pancakes which are savoury pancakes filled with either ham and cheese or minced beef. During the scandal it came out that the lasagne that findus was making had horsemeat in it. I never ate the lasagne personally but my mum stopped buying any of their crispy pancakes for a while because I have a kidney transplant and they was a chance I might get sick from eating any of their beef products.
Speaking of Subway not being able to stay out of trouble: apparently investigations, lawsuits, etc. are popping up about their tuna not being tuna. 🙄
Another effect that Supersize Me had that i dont think i have heard anyone ever notice - yes mcdonalds almost instantly tossed out their supersize options. However most of the other big chains like burger king sonic wendys etc had their own version of supersize that also mysteriously vanished quietly into the void while everyone was screaming about mcdonalds. Everyone switched to small medium and large sizes. This was a huge issue for all of the fast food places and i found it very interesting to sit back and watch as those not in the hate spotlight just quietly changed everything so the mob wouldnt turn its gaze twords them...
I remember eating a subway sandwich with lettuce when my mom turned the news on, they was airing a story about bacteria in the subway lettcue sandwiches. My jaw dropped.

@@barnacleboi2595 True but there's always bacteria that's not safe for human consumption and more importantly should be checked for such bacteria in food. Thats kinda why we have food regulations so that excuse falls flat.
subway also got in legal trouble for selling foot longs that weren't a foot long and they tried to fire back " oh its just a advertising name" but people were a little upset that a footlong wasn't a foot long and they got sued
Hi Strider! Soy filled chicken, other than being deadly to some of those that are allergic, can affect hormones as well. As an endometriosis sufferer, I try to avoid excess soy so that my body doesn't produce more estrogen and endometrial tissue outside the uterus. Very painful situation that I wouldn't wish upon the worst of my enemies.
Soy also effects Thyroid levels, especially in someone like me. I was born without a Thyroid Gland and certain foods such as soy and most processed foods interferes with the absorption and function of my medication(Synthroid) which acts as a Thyroid Gland.

I think the actual issue at the heart of the whole "filler in meat" thing is that certain fillers are also potentially allergens for some people, which means these companies basically had undeclared allergens in their food. Soybean allergies aren't uncommon, so even though they're safe and healthy for the general population, they're still dangerous for some people to consume.
People just want what they pay for, it's the deception that people don't like. Moreso IMO than allergies.
Soy is destabilizing natural hormones, as a phytoestrogen it’s causing many of the issues we see today, turning boys to girls etc

Aye, that does sound like a more proper complaint, yeah. Like, that'd be pretty crucial to list off in their disclaimers on the menu. I'm not sure if soybean allergies can kill, but it sure is nasty to get a reaction from something you weren't warned about.

in regards to "super size me", it has gained recent controversy due to the guy who made the documentary not disclosing that he was/is a raging alchoholic... so its safe to assume most of the negative health issues found after 30 days of Mcdonalds was actually caused by consuming so much alcohol. that isn't to say that eating nothing but Mcdonalds is healthy or anything, its still not good for you. the documentary at least made people conscious about their food choices which isn't a bad thing
Yeah exactly. Morgan Spurlock has gained controversy over the years from people outside McDonald’s due to the fact that he was a raging alcoholic, with undisclosed medicinal ailments he purposely hid from the documentary including his own bad liver (which he blamed on McDonald’s) and that no one in the last 20 years has ever been able to replicate his results indicating he was misleading about the amount of food he was actually eating. back in 2019 i ordered a cake at tim horton ( typical in canada) and then the first thing after i cut the cake in half there was a PLASTIC FORK inside !! my parents wanted me to sue or at least take a video of it but i didnt know any of that ( i was young ofc) and now i wonder how much money i wouldve got.....
ps: after i found the fork i went over to show it to the workers and they had the most SHOCKED faceive seen ( no wonder they were asking how i didnt sue )

The McDonald's Coffee Scandal was actually turned around so that something like her case. (Meaning the restitution she won being almost half a million dollars and McDonald's lost millions in revenue)
So that now its harder to get any sort of restitution and justice because of this case being seen like a big joke or even a bad thing.
My parents even got some restitution from this sort of thing. Because when I was young maybe 1995-1999. I got badly burned by McDonald's coffee as a little kid. We didn't make millions but we did receive 1000$. And free McDonald's Coupons for life. Which back than was good for the time.

I saw the photos of the coffee spill incident, and they were horrifying! That poor woman received third-degree burns, and I'm glad they actually reduced the temperature of their hot beverages.

The big issue with subway chicken or any other substitution of ingredients is the implications to those with allergies. If you do not disclose the consumer can not maintain control of choice. With sometimes drastic consequences.

One of the many reasons I refuse to eat in the car. One little bump and suddenly you're covered in what you're eating. If that's coffee hot enough to cause 3rd degree burns, that's a bad day.

Apparently Morgan Spurlock faked the results for Supersize Me. He drank a lot,hence the pickled liver and ate more than he showed. Multiple attempts to recreate it didn't produce the same effect and in at least one case,someone LOST weight.

It’s probably more so just a by-product of the fact that so many entitled people exist and yell nowadays that people see headlines like that and defaultly assume “Oh great, another Karen”. People just kinda scoff at this now. Not saying it’s right, but it may be why.

I like my coffee hot. If I wanted a cold coffee I would buy a iced coffee. I don't see warnings on cigarette lighters saying "Caution flame is hot". Why do people need a warning saying "caution hot coffee may be hot"?
@@Al-Cohol999 Because it was so hot it was causing 3rd degree burns, that is NOT normal for spilling coffee on yourself. McD's were told repeatedly that the coffee was at unsafe temperatures and they didn't do anything.
My dad had a similar moment to the McDonald’s Hot Coffee incident but it was at a Dunkin Donuts. My mom asked for an extra large coffee and my dad was driving. When the lady handed it to my dad in the drive thru window the cup was too tall to fit through the window so the lid got knocked off and hot coffee fell in my dad’s lap. He screamed and all the lady did was shut the window and didn’t even offer him ice until we asked for some. All she said after that was “have a good day” in the most monotone voice as if she didn’t witness a customer get burned by hot coffee. My dad didn’t need any medical attention so we didn’t sue.

Another scandal as an honorable, or dishonorable mention in this case, is when a Burger King employee stood on bins full of lettuce. Then someone took a photo of it and posted it to 4chan. It went viral and the employee was fired and blew up on the news. Despite the major health code violation of that stunt, at least we got one of my favorite lines from Epic Rap Battles of History: Ronald McDonald vs. the Burger King. Seriously, I keep cracking up when I hear the line "You're a bin full of lettuce: facing da feet!"

You'd have to know a bit of American history to get what was going on. In the early to mid 1900's, there was a group called the Klu Klux Klan, or the KKK. The short version is they were racist idiots who sought to rid America of anyone who wasn't white. When Krispy Kreme called their membership club thing the Krispy Kreme Klub then abbreviated it to KKK, a lot of **erhem** extremely unfortunate connections and assumptions were made.
I'm surprised that the Wendy's lawsuit wasn't on the list. Someone tried to sue Wendy's for finding a supposed human finger in their chili. Luckily, the person got caught and Wendy's didn't really suffer throughout the entire thing.

You forgot the Fast food strip search that happened at a lot of fast food establishments. The movie "Compliance" was based on one of the incidents.
Other than the ones you mentioned, off the top of my head I remember the pink slime scandal and something about the lettuce from Chipotle. There was no lettuce in our Chipotle for ages.

Worse than the Subway chicken scandal was the Subway bread scandal. They used an additive in their breads called, "azodicarbonamide". They claimed it was a common bread ingredient but it seems it's also used in "yoga mats". I stopped eating at Subway many years ago after realizing that their highly touted flatbread felt like foam rubber in the mouth and had no bread taste at all.

The SUBWAY Jarred scandal was epically disastrous for SUBWAY. (Mostly because of their response to Jarred gaining all the weight back)
Ikea had a scandal here in the Netherlands for straight up having horse meatballs instead of the beef it advertised! Not just small traces either, like full on meat. Not the weirdest thing since we eat horse meat over here but it was not what was advertised! 😂

Not to mention, with the coffee thing, it was so hot that it had warped the cups so even if you were careful you'd spill it. They only sued for so much because they knew it would be knocked down and her bills were so high. That poor woman went through so much to be labeled as a frivolous idiot when she just wanted her medical bills covered and McDonalds could have easily paid them and not suffered any sort of measurable loss yet they not only didnt want to pay but went out of their way to try to make her look bad.
Honestly hearing that a 79 year old lady that was legitimately injured being passed off as a Karen makes me wonder how many people use the term in the correct context.
I only ate McDonald's for a year, i worked there and only ate my employee meal most days. I lost 150 pounds, and my diabetes improved. But i was also walking 5 miles to work 6 days a week and 5 miles home. It's all in the context. Basically, i ate less and exercised more.

I think the biggest issues with Subway not disclosing that their chicken contains soy is both the fact that some people may be allergic to soy and unknowingly consume it and also just false advertisement. Personally, I too like soy and wouldn't mind it but if it's advertised as 100% chicken, I expect that or else they just lose credibility imo.
I really hate the supersize me documentary because it really should be a no shit moment thinking eating nothing but fast food is unhealthy. No one should think fast food is healthy. My health teacher in middle school actually played us a Straight to DVD documentary made to criticize and fact-check ‘Super Size Me’ (entitled ‘Fat Head’ if you’re curious) as well as ‘Supersize Me’ itself. ‘Fat Head’ had a very sarcastic tone but brought up a lot of good counterpoints to the things in ‘Supersize Me’

In the mid-90s Jack in the Box was nearly wiped out due to an e. coli outbreak.. Some of the cases were actually at our local one and I remember never seeing a single car or customer there after that.

A scandal that you missed was Jack-In-the-Box burgers and food poisoning (several people died from either botulism or salmonella.) There were other restaurants involved in this scandal as well.

I remember in Australia, McDonald’s were have this quarter pounder deal, and lot of people were complaining that some of the burgers they got had bite marks in them. My step father at the time got one . No clue what was going on.
