Just wanted to add the KFC is the mad lad of fast food. When people in America voiced their concerns with how unhealthy fast food really was, restaurants took action by introducing healthier menu items or removing terrible options, like McDonald's removing the super size option. KFC was like "here's some fried chicken sandwiched between two glazed donuts. Screw you."

I’m pretty sure the exact opposite has happened over the last decade or so. Sure, they canceled the salad shaker but also eventually added like 5 or 6 full-on salad meals. I’m pretty sure the majority of fast-food restaurants have added a number of “healthy” menu items. The rise of fast-casual restaurants, like Chipotle or Panera, was heavily influenced by a societal shift towards healthier eating. Even KFC, who hilariously introduced a sandwich that substituted bread for donuts, added grilled chicken to their menu.

I can give you the lowdown on the McSalad Shakers: They were designed for you to shake before eating; so you can distribute the salad dressing as you're shaking. Before the McSalad Shakers, the salad came in a plastic container. Most people (including me) squeezed the salad dessing on the salad, close the lid and shake the salad to coat the salad with dressing.

I remember when McDonald's had been selling them for some customers to "eat healthy to follow the McDonald's diet" . As if it would sell a lot of them for many McDonald's customers to eat healthy.
      At any fast-food place.
Compared to what's exactly IN them.....of what McDonald's do always serve.
I should know. I USED to ❤ McDonald's. Especially their 🍟. You just can't beat their wonderful potatoes.
I've eaten many fast food fries from Five Guys, Wendy's, Whataburger, and Dairy Queen.
      Only Whataburger can rival them.
All others cannot even compete with them.
And as far as KFC is concerned, it's the skin that gives it flavor.
      Original or crispy.
      Those were the days.
Unfortunately it had backfired, because of all the plastic it McDonald's were also producing......and throwing them away in the trash.

It has been costing McDonald's money.

In reality, the top few dressing-soaked leaves adhered themselves to the lid and the rest of the salad was left dry. About 15 years ago when I worked there my manager showed me how to make them.
The crust is just the biscuit dough, shredded cheese is on hand, and so is steak, chicken, ham, and bacon.

It just wasn't a big novelty. Besides, almost nobody I knew went there and bought salad!

"Welcome to Mcdonalds! May I take your order?"
"Yeah, I'll just have a medium shake."
"Ok, great, what shake flavor would you like? Choclate, vanilla, or salad?"
    "Salad?"
    "Salad it is, then."
    "Wait what!? No--"
But the person at the front desk was already pouring the customer a fresh cup of salad.

Hi there, Wendy’s worker here!! I remember when the t-Rex burger started circulating on the internet. It wasn’t too long after that that three guys came in at the start of lunch and each one of them ordered their own monstrosity of a burger. That was 27 large patties that we took off the grill right then and there. I was the unfortunate one to make them lol, wrapping them up was a total nightmare, so much so that I actually had to have someone else come over and help me. I’m glad it didn’t stick around.

Sounds like a pain in the arse to make when an actual Wendy's worker describes it's making.

I remember ordering a Grand Slam (off menu) burger from Wendy's that was essentially the same thing. It strikes me as common sense that if you order something like that you had better tip the poor staff.

I have a cookbook full of “secret” recipes from various restaurants and one of them was Pizza Hut’s ‘Triple Decker Pizza’
Also, as someone who grew up in the 1990’s, I have to say that I actually remember these items

The "cheesearito" is a standard menu item.....and has been for a long time.
It's called a Quesarito, because it's a quesadilla turned used as the tortilla for a burrito.
I can order one right this second. 2am on Easter morning.
    It's $4.19, and 640 calories.
Beef, cheese, nacho cheese, sour cream, rice, chipotle sauce, and 2 tortillas.

    • @Tekshipie

Yup! Still delicious. It's a "secret" item though. They list it on their website, and have a button for it on the register, and yet they don't put it on their menu directly, really odd.

I used to work at a Burger King. And I remember making the cheese tots. It's one of the most unpopular items at Burger King. It takes a total of 3 minutes to cook one bag of them. And even tastes worst when they're old. So, the item only lasts for a total of 3 months. ( and according to me they are disgusting)

I actually used to love the salad shaker's! I used to eat them for lunch everyday when I was working. Surprisingly the lettuce and all the veggies were always fresh & crisp. The shaker cup insured that every ingredient in the salad was thoroughly coated with dressing. I liked them so much that I bought a reusable salad shaker cup, which I used for a long time.

I work at McDonalds, and I have to say that the weirdest menu item I have ever seen was the most recent one, the menu hacks list. With this order, you could get a combination of two or three menu items in one, like Mc Double which combined the Double burger with the Chicken Mc Nuggets. Within two months of the combinations being released, I only saw a few people order menu hacks, and only to buy and eat the combination foods separately with a lower price to pay. I can hardly blame them, a Mc Cheeseburger, Mc Chicken Sandwich and Fish Fillet are all good menu items apart, eat them all at once, and you might have to call your plumber.
    🍔 +🍗 +🐟 =🤢

My local McDonald's has a secret menu item called Code 42. It contains a bacon cheeseburger, filet o fish and a junior chicken. Not sure of the meaning of the name Code 42, sounds like a cross contaminated number code to me.
