Hello, Norwegian guy here. I want to clarify some things about Pop Tarts. I've never heard about Pop Tarts being banned over here, as it's never been officially sold over here. American foods aren't sold here regularly, rather it's imported over because of interest for american candy. There exist small candy shops that specializes in imported popular candy, and American candy is by far the most common. I've bough Pop Tarts in a Norwegian grocery store for 10$ a pack. Import fees are outrageos here, and they only get one batch once in a while. The Norwegian state want to avoid import goods competing with locally produced goods in price. Instead of making food cheap, get rid of the competitors.
@@SatanenPerkele 1. M&M's are also sold in Norway, but they're most common in tax free's. M's are also available, but I think they're a bit more common. 2. Frosties are one of the most common cereal here too. 3. Ritz are also common. 4. Gatorate is being sold here, although I've rarely seen any.

I'm really happy with this one. I love the creative bits like Strider going crazy looking for a dangerous additive in M&Ms, that was too good. Great upload, nice editing and animation 😁
I have never heard about quite a few of these. It is insane if how many of these foods have evidence to being dangerous. I love your videos Josh. Keep up the good work
Fruit Loops aren't completely banned in Austria, they are actually sold at normal supermarkets, but I assume they are produced somewhere in Europe and thus contain different ingredients. Pop Tarts and Ritz are also sold in Austria but you can only find them for high prices in speciality shops that sell imported food and drink items and they get stickers to point out and warn you of certain ingredients. And I know I've seen Gatorade too but I can't remember anymore if it was at a supermarket or at one of those foreign speciality shops.
Oh God, do NOT get me started on pop tarts! They were basically one of the only foods I used to eat, and when I had a “food boom” ( which means I began eating so many other foods), I permanently banned pop tarts from my diet.
Strider has the coolest friends. A pony, a boo, his wife, and logic. Ngl ever since they updated kraft it has been amazing so they got rid of the dye and improved it which deserves mad props.
I’m reminded of when my mom had a really bad sinus infection and our doctor said she could use Gatorade to get some sugar and electrolytes back….if she diluted it with water first. He said straight gatorade is actually not as good as just drinking water for replacing fluids. That paired with their shady way of handling research studies on it’s effectiveness is just the cherry on top. 😅
I’m also someone who has run for a significantly long time for my high school and I will just say this. If you ever want to buy anything from Gatorade to drink for any practice/competitive event, the best thing you can buy is one of their water bottles. And then you can fill it up with water and take a drink whenever you need to. I can guarantee you that it will be far more refreshing as opposed to one of their actual sports drinks.
Corn syrup is an interesting ingredient. On its own as a sweetener it may not be much different from sugar, but the real trouble is that it's made from corn. Corn farming is heavily subsidized in the States, so much so that the main way farmers make a profit is to produce an exorbitant surplus of corn crop. Only so much of it can be sold fresh or canned for consumption so the rest goes into biofuels and of course, the production of corn syrup. And again, the surplus is so much that even after fresh crops and ethanol production the country has enough corn for syrup that food companies can buy it up as a cheap and abundant sweetener for foods. Cheap and abundant enough that foods that have no need to be sweet (i.e. American breads) get packed with corn syrups for the sake of "taste".
I remember when I was a kid, I always used to get a box of Lucky Charms every Christmas (they don't make them over here so you have to buy them imported which means they're like twice as expensive as any other cereal). They have UK compliant nutritional information stuck on top of the regular American nutrition facts, and at the bottom was a disclaimer saying "may have an adverse effect on attention and hyperactivity in children" (I liked to read stuff on the box). I always wondered what that was about, and I'm guessing now that they probably contain Yellow 5...
I love watching your videos! You're such a kind and respectful person and it's a nice change of pace from alot of the stuff online these days. Keep on keeping on 😊😊
As someone who used to live in the European Union, the banning of American Milk is not only because of the bovine growth hormone, it's also to protect our own dairy farmers, not to mention that a lot of us consider giving Bovine Growth Hormones to cows to increase milk production to be animal cruelty.
Overall, a very interesting video. It’s always hard trying to find a balance between enjoying the things you eat and trying to keep yourself alive, and I like that it’s trying to give as accurate studies as possible, thanks dude!
12:45 The PhantomStrider Family (including Josh Strider, NinJean and Boo) + PhoenixStarYT Also, I enjoy drinking Gatorades, but not much as a sports drink, but as a regular drink.
Someone had to give them some milk when needed, right? So I thought "why not? Gives me an excuse to hang out with these guys again, haha" I like to drink sports drinks myself as well. Not very often, because it's incredibly unhealthy, but every once in a while it makes for a tasty drink
Admittedly I used to eat a lot of these foods, until my family switched to a low sugar diet and now all of those things make me gag from the amount of sugar that's in them.
ADHD is not a behavioral disorder, it’s a neurological disorder. Saying it’s a behavioral thing is why I and so many others were yelled at and told repeatedly that we need to “control it” or that we’ll “have to grow out of it if you want to be taken seriously” as we were growing up dealing with it and the stigma from family members and teachers.
Hadn't realised that wording sorry and took it straight from a science article. Sorry about that. You are indeed correct. Like ASD or OCD, it is very much neurological. I faced similar issues growing up too as at the time, Autism spectrum was not nearly as well understood

Honestly, gatorade (and other sports drinks) are only really useful for rather advanced cases of dehydration Not that you wouldn't be able to recover with just water and some food alone, but having all of these things in drinkable form and easy access can help if you are away from your home or if you simply do not have the time to wait for digestion to do its thing properly
I like sports drinks, though I prefer Body Armor over Gatorade. It’s like that, but focused more on tropical fruit flavors. Though, usually I just stick to water after my nightly jogs.
It’s funny how in at least Canada our fruit loops look quite different from in the US. Ours has no artificial flavours or colouring and have very diluted looking fruit loops with no blue ones!

As an American and while I don't want to make light of the worry it feels a lot of things can cause cancer. So it's definitely something people should do they're own research on and not blindly listen to if someone says x thing may cause cancer
The smokiness on BBQ foods can also cause cancer. Yeah, I tend to agree. I think people forget that cancer IS a naturally occurring type of disease. Virtually anything can cause your cells to mutate, so therefore, almost anything carries at least a small cancer risk. It's more about how big of a risk... For example, Smoking (not meat) comes with a OVERWELMING risk of cancer. Eating cherries does not.
I came to the channel for SpongeBob content years ago and now I’m watching science lessons with sources. Keep making whatever type of content you want because you always entertain and educate.
I never would have expected foods that I would normally eat to be banned outside of the US. #10: Really; ADHD? That's a stupid reason to ban a certain food. ADHD isn't a disease, it's just something some people are born with.
It's not banned because they think it causes ADHD. It's banned because it causes adverse effects on people with ADHD... and people withoit ADHD... so really it has nothing to do with ADHD. ADHD was just a buzzword in the 2000s and 90s so they threw it around a lot for no reason.
Pretty hyperactive myself and yes I do eat pop-tarts sometimes, but apparently, I've been hyperactive since I was born. Personally, I'm guessing the majority of the kids who showed signs were either just ADHD or something similar and just being themselves, or just hyperactive from the sugar.

one thing that's my pet peeve is that I wish artificial sweeteners had bigger labels because due to GI issues I have to avoid them as do many others as I've found on clinical websites.
As a PhD chemist, I appreciate how detailed you go into the literature to support the info in your videos!
Sometimes I wish Matpat from food theory did a video together with him because to me that would be a hope and dream to me
I'm really happy with this one. I love the creative bits like Strider going crazy looking for a dangerous additive in M&Ms, that was too good. Great upload, nice editing and animation 😁
I have never heard about quite a few of these. It is insane if how many of these foods have evidence to being dangerous. I love your videos Josh. Keep up the good work
On the Gatorade thing, I think The Waterboy summed it up best "Water quenches your thirst!"
Merry Christmas Strider! You're the most wholesome UA-camr I can think of!
Absolutely love it when Strider uploads! Always love his videos!!
Loved how Iou Informative this was and i've been loving the pivot this channel's been taking. Keep up the good work!
Love this channel and many of the positive and informative messages it brings 😁
Thank you! Glad you enjoy the content! Merry Xmas!
@@phantomstrider Merry Christmas and happy holidays to you and your family as well bro!
I love your videos and personality.
Keep up the good work!
I feel like a "10 Foods From Elsewhere Banned In The US" might be in order then too?
Love the shout out to Weird History! I’ll definitely follow 😊
American breads) get packed with corn syrups for the sake of "taste".
never thought of this topic, but super interesting! :)
Strider: uploads one of his videos.
Me: Best Christmas present ever!
The editing and cute little "hi" and "hello" from the little drawings made me drop a sub. Well done! ^^
Merry Christmas Strider
You know it’s a good day when strider uploads 🙃
oh hell yeah it is😁

I love watching your videos! You're such a kind and respectful person and it's a nice change of pace from alot of the stuff online these days. Keep on keeping on 😊😊
As someone who used to live in the European Union, the banning of American Milk is not only because of the bovine growth hormone, it's also to protect our own dairy farmers, not to mention that a lot of us consider giving Bovine Growth Hormones to cows to increase milk production to be animal cruelty.
The animal cruelty thing is something I can support. We feed our kids milk from farms that don’t use RBGH.
Overall, a very interesting video.
It’s always hard trying to find a balance between enjoying the things you eat and trying to keep yourself alive, and I like that it’s trying to give as accurate studies as possible, thanks dude!

Also, I enjoy drinking Gatorades, but not much as a sports drink, but as a regular drink.
Someone had to give them some milk when needed, right? So I thought "why not? Gives me an excuse to hang out with these guys again, haha"
I like to drink sports drinks myself as well. Not very often, because it's incredibly unhealthy, but every once in a while it makes for a tasty drink
Glad to hear Nin’s OK!
So many banned food products…
Hi! I’m Maria single with one kid and I’m seeking
Yeah
@@phantomstrider Dude why didn't you talk about how m&ms copied a Swedish company. You basically screwed up the ending of the video.
@@pikachuhutch234 Nin's chat on #1 basically actually gives you all the information on the subject. It was an attempt to give you variety and new nutritional information rather than vomiting the same listicle facts to you like every other top list. Guess it still went over some people's heads a bit.
@@phantomstrider oh ok
@@phantomstrider So that’s why you didn’t want to mention why m&ms copied a Swedish Candy.
Merry Christmas! Thanks for the info 😊
At 1:00 I used to eat Fruit Loops when I was little as a child, but not anymore. I outgrew my childhood eating habits. But now I only eat Weet-Bix and Sultana Bran nowadays. And because I've outgrown my childhood eating habits, I have matured into a healthier and happier, yet a sadder and wiser human being. Kind of like what I am today.😔💔💙🖤❤️🔥🌧️⛈️🌩️😢
One of the most wholesome UA-camrs of all time; You’re a legend.
Fun fact: Gatorade has a lower number of electrolytes than they boast. Coconut water actually has more electrolytes than Gatorade.
If the random banana on the computer desk doesn't get much attention, explicit science will
I think the most awkward part of this is that I had Frosted Flakes for lunch (I slept in and skipped breakfast), and recently had some Ritz crackers for snack several minutes before running into this video.
Welp… I’m screwed (sarcasm)
God I love videos like this so informational, fun and serious. I always look forward to videos like this he's like a fun teacher who everyone loves. keep going man
Wow, i was born in the USA and i didn't knew about this! Thank you PhantomStrider

Honestly, gatorade (and other sports drinks) are only really useful for rather advanced cases of dehydration
Not that you wouldn't be able to recover with just water and some food alone, but having all of these things in drinkable form and easy access can help if you are away from your home or if you simply do not have the time to wait for digestion to do its thing properly
"Nothing makes me more excited than thinking I might have taught you something useful" poor Nin xD
I like sports drinks, though I prefer Body Armor over Gatorade. It’s like that, but focused more on tropical fruit flavors. Though, usually I just stick to water after my nightly jogs.
omg this video was both hilarious and educational, love your vids
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it! :)
Oh yeah, recently Pop Tarts got imported to my country, I bought one, they were pretty expensive, but holy shit, are they sweet. Like, insanely sweet.
21:55 The honey exchanges is so adorably wholesome.
Hey Josh and Nin happy christmas and holidays! -Nia Louise 💕
gotta give credit to yellow 5 and yellow 6, they're making sure yellow 7 doesn't have to step in
It’s funny how in at least Canada our fruit loops look quite different from in the US. Ours has no artificial flavours or colouring and have very diluted looking fruit loops with no blue ones!
In all my life, Ritz has been sold here in Norway, I've never heard it has been banned here. We only have regular Ritz, not any other type.
It's been a while since you made a food related video, Strider.
It's only been 2 weeks😅
Hello, spanish person here, and we've had Frosties since... Forever. They're not banned in Spain and I don't think they've ever been.
MnMs used to be pretty uncommon years ago but they can be found easily in stores, however, we already had them but from other brands, like the locally based Lacasitos, or the I think British Smarties.
well, i'm glad i caught this vid early, phantomstrider is someone i like listening to, and his vids are one of my favs to go to when i have nothing else going on
Tartrazine, or Yellow 5 isn’t banned in the UK, foods containing it just need a warning that it “may cause hyperactivity in children”.

now i know what brands are banned overseas
I love your videos! They're always entertaining. Though every time I hear yellow 5 and 6 say hello, all I hear is pikmin. Which is a compliment, I love pikmin.
As an American and while I don't want to make light of the worry it feels a lot of things can cause cancer. So it's definitely something people should do they're own research on and not blindly listen to if someone says x thing may cause cancer
Agreed
ADHD was just a buzzword in the 2000s and 90s so they threw it around a lot for no reason.
love the amoubt of research put into your videos! you also just have a lovely personality and you always brighten my mood
Man, I wish I had easy access to a doctor or dietician lmao

Also some fat free snacks are actually worse then regular brands because they add extra sugar in the fats place
Gotta love how this dude went from Cartoon Watch Mojo, to Watch Mojo, but way better.
Pretty hyperactive myself and yes I do eat pop-tarts sometimes, but apparently, I've been hyperactive since I was born. Personally, I'm guessing the majority of the kids who showed signs were either just ADHD or something similar and just being themselves, or just hyperactive from the sugar.
glad to see you and yours took the time to make a comprehensive peer reviewed studies for this list
