Screwfix does bare plaster paint, not runny like water but covers great, and if the clients want a flat Matt finish on the ceiling for example, you could just apply 3 coats of that
👏👏👏 great tutorial. After watching a ton of these videos, this is definitely the best shot, most straightforward, and complete one. Time to get on with painting an entire 400m² house, walls and ceilings 😫🤯🥵
Great tutorial, I could certainly use the small assistant for the low parts of the walls.
Clear, concise, well illustrated, cute kid. 100%!
Finaly, great explenation how to do, and not to use vinyl paint, meny dose not mention that. Thanks 💯💯👍
How many coats of mist coat? thanks
Excellent video, great tempo. No waffle.
It’s easier to pull the lights out of the ceiling and loosen the sockets off
You should cut in before rollering, much easier
would be alot quicker with extension pole 🤔
Do you mean primmer. You should said it right
Do you have to sand down the walls before you start painting the plastered wall?
I think I might have screwed mine up :D. I was using Leyland Contact Matt and I put about 4.5 liters of paint into the bucket with about half a litre of water, but then put a little bit more paint in (possibly about another litre). When applying it, it felt a little bit thick tbh. Through the instructions say '1 part water to 9 parts paint'. Do you think that this should be ok or do you think I will have any problems down the line? After applying the first coat, should I use a watered down second coat or should I just apply the second coat neat? Grateful for any help guys!
Many thanks!
Leyland Contract Matt has ruined my house: it left a chalky powdery finish on the wall and any paint you try to put on top, it just doesn't stick properly and can be easily pull out of the wall with the lightest of the masking tape (even the pink one). I wrote to Layland and they told me their product is not meant to be used for mist coat ... I wonder what it is for then!
Best video on painting after fresh plaster
Aren't you meant to only roll in 1 direction and due to paint dripping always paint up and down, not side to side? It seems you were doing donuts on the ceiling with the roller lol.
Marking tabe time waste
Hi I would like to know how many misit coat do I need apply before my choice of paint apply please reply thank you
Just one mist coat and then you can begin applying your paint of choice!
@@ryanseeley thank you so much
I always think its lazy not to pop out light fittings / loosen off sockets to get a good finish around them!
This was lovely; thank you for taking the time to make this video :)
Has been a very big help to me!
Extra labours
Mist paint ?
Speed
Did you key the surface of the new plaster before mist coat?
Very details in mixing and also on leveling from foundation to finished works. Thanks for the guidance !
Do you sand plaster before painting?
No, it's smooth enough to paint without sanding
Ow I watered down the 2nd application too 🙄
Great advice ,really informative thank you.
Nice work do you one steel and two flex trowels or two Steel trowels and one flexy trowel Cher’s
Thanks, yeah I use steel to put on both coats and first trowel, then use Flexi for 2nd trowel and cross 👍
Thanks
Any chance you could show us, up close, detailed, the trasition wall to ceiling (plastering) and wall to wall painting? Good info again. TYVM
A bloke who knows what he’s doing👌
Good job mate my motto is never pay a painter or a cleaner
That's a good motto! Might as well do the easy bits yourself
Use a painter poll makes life a lot easier
Vinyl paint is ok?
No
Really good and detailed explanation
What was the name of the final colour you used.?
just reading about painting a newly wet plastered wall, they are using lime in the plaster when doing the wall, i read that you need to use some acid to neutralise the lime before painting else the paint wont stick, what can you tell me about this??
It's gypsum plaster, no lime (unfortunately)
Any Thoughts on Spraying ??
I've never done it but I hear its much quicker. That said I do know if you get a team of professionals to spray it for you and later you need to touch it up it's very difficult to get the patch to be unnoticeable.
It's does seem to be the ways it's done now
it doesn't look as good, just because its quicker doesn't mean its better
Can we do silk paint after done mist coat
Brilliantly explained..Thankyou
Hi mate, would you recommend using cheaper matt emulsion for mist and primary coat (like Leyland) before finishing with a more expensive paint like Dulux?
For the mist and primary coat,l used Dulux Supermatt. It gives great coverage and it's ideal for new plaster.
Using contract matt is old school and not recommended anymore by any paint maker. I have learn this lesson the hard way.
Good
Bless its nice to see the kids helping..
Thanks for the info!
Legend
Thanks for the tutorial on painting new plasterd walls helped me loads 👍
I was told I could paint straight on to fresh plaster I'm glad I watched this
You can, it just isn't guaranteed to be a decent finish
@@ashleylarge2089 cheers can you tell me how long between coats on cieling and walls please I allways get told different times to wait . Thank you
Looks good, the colour you chose for the walls looks a lot like dried multi finish 🤣 you must be a plasterer lol
Thanks for the video 👍
Bit of a longshot but I have just had my walls freshly plastered and have waited a few weeks so they are dry. Was recommended by the plasterer to get the Jonmat Premium Contract Matt - Brilliant White paint. He said two coats of that and it would come up good. Didn't watch your video but the plasterer did say wouldn't need to mist coat with this stuff. Put the first coat on which was fine (or maybe not) and then the second coat yesterday. Was finding that when it dried it had quite alot of roller marks visible giving not a very uniform and consistent finish. Wasn't happy so went over with another coat today, taking more care to get a wet edge and not to dry roll. Pretty much the same result. Is my issue not mist coating the wall originally or is it down to maybe poor technique when rolling. I have read since that contract paints are mainly for the base coats and then would apply an emulsion to finish. Is it obvious what I am doing wrong?
Maybe your using a cheap roller, by a better roller head
great video bro!
