Love it... deadicated bare plaster primer is so much better than thinning down cheap contract Matt............ Gina.. my top tip Wednesday, don't use a pipe or anything round to mix paint, it doesn't mix paint as it's aerodynamic so doesn't allow it Mix. Use a proper paint mixing stick or slim strip 1.5-2" wide of wood that actually moves the paint about ;)

A light sanding down of the walls should be done too, prior to painting, as there are always little imperfections regardless of how good your plasterer is.. Trowel marks, little bits of plaster on the surface. I always use white matt paint, 50/50 mix, works a treat..

@@hardworker8030 Use any brand of paint, but check first if the emulsion has instruction of the side saying it can be watered down. They will often tell you to add 10% water to the emulsion, but personally I go a lot further, maybe 30% and mix with a paddle attachment on a drill or anything you can attach to a drill to make something that would stir the paint well. I have seen some people use old spatulas with the handles removed at a pinch

@@Christopher_T_Paul Most decorators will tell you to use contract matt but the manufacturer will tell you it's not designed for that. Also when she was applying the paint you can see it's not soaking in to the plaster.

That fresh plaster paint is good stuff, I have given up making my own watered down emulsion once I found out such a special paint existed, plus as you say a few sound coats and you have a good quality finish or a good base coat for any light colour.
I use a kitchen ladle to spoon out my paint into the roller tray, less messy plus I now use the smaller rollers since some organic type painter women pointed out they make less mess in use and use less water when cleaning and are easier to clean. Can't argue with that.
Can't believe you are painting white while wearing your black clothes 🤣🤣🤣🤣.

Yes the black clothes got sacrificed years ago so they’re my painting gear now!
Like the roller top - thanks for sharing 😊

Thanks for the tip about ‘ready mixed’ mist coat paint as was getting concerned over mixing water and contract emulsion- seemed messy and a bit hit and miss👍

I always use mist coat, it isn't hard, but it can be messy. I always mist coat using watered down emulsion and has never done me wrong. By the time you mist coat a room, then have a little break the room will likely be ready to start a second coat.
It takes me typically 2 mist coats and 2 top coats over 2 days, just because of the drying times. I can comfortably paint 3 rooms in 2 days from bare plaster.
I really wouldn't try painting like in this video though, get an extendable pole, it is much easier and will save your back.

This paint can also be watered down for the first mist coat. I highly recommend it

You made every single step of that twice as hard as it should be because you haven't got the right gear. Pole for the roller, paint scuttle, rad roller for cutting in, steps or hop up.
