Hey, I'm the guy that made the Iceberg. Good vidya. Just a few things 1: Serious Sammy and Mental Mate are siblings of Sam according to their bios in the Sam 2 multiplayer thing, not alternate versions of Sam. 2: Save the Earth was a seemingly lost Croteam game made and released before they worked on Serious Sam. 3: I got quite a few things wrong, so take some of the things with a grain of salt. Hell, someone replied to my original post with explanations for stuff I got wrong and things like that.
20:34 there is a weird screenshot that surfaced years ago of a Serious Sam Alpha build showcasing an early Sacred Yards. It's a particularly strange image because it surfaced before the Alpha was even known to still exist. Then, when we finally GOT the alpha, the level is nowhere to be found. The screenshot is also fairly modern, a high resolution. This is also before Serious Sam Origins. So yeah, really weird image. At one point I was planning on going down this rabbit hole but I never got around to it.
In hindsight, the Origins team got more than just the alpha build. I'm guessing an early Sacred Yards was among the assets they were given. The screen's upload date on serioussite isn't far from the Origins reveal trailer.
7:19 It's a glitch in Serious Sam HD if you go past the heat stroke area, the sand dunes had no collision past that and you'd sink through and end up in the box that shows the intro cutscene in space. Not any theory, just an out of bounds glitch.
1:58 , not sure if you got an answer yet ( I’m late xd) But TSE had Dunes ost playing in background for a portion of the intro sequence. The book part.
I'm Solais, apparently after I left Croteam people had a conspiracy about my very sudden departure, as in, before I disappeared, I posted a footage from then unreleased SS4 on the Croteam discord, while it was set to slow mode. People thought I was fired because of me leaking SS4 stuff and the discord was set to slow mode to combat this because "only the admin of the discord can do that"; apparently they were unaware of the fact that I was the co-funder of the official Croteam discord server and had admin powers so I set the slow mode myself to make sure my farewell message won't get lost, lel. In general, this iceberg picture was likely created by someone from the old Serious Sam forums and current discord servers, with many of them referencing stuff that's only really known to people part of these communities and even then in an informal way, so it's difficult to track down what many of them really mean just with a google search.
@@seriouslyquestionable Except it does. About the crossbow in SS4, in the Siberian Mayhem trailer, a standalone DLC for SS4 the crossbow is shown and its used by Sam. Release date is 25 january so we need to wait to confirm this, but its worth noting I guess
A little fun fact about the DRM Arachnoid: he can be put in the game legitimately via a mod now. He's also available in the BFE Enhanced custom campaign as a secret in The Dark Bride, where he is killable but he has 3,000 HP! Also, Serious Sam eventually got a playable AK, the AK74MX, in Siberian Mayhem.
I always see people reference the one video for the DRM Scorpion, but there was another, less popular one (I can't seem to find it anymore), where the player goes further and encounters *another* DRM Scorpion, and just before they die you can spot a third one in the distance. It wasn't just one scorpion; You were meant to be swarmed by them. There's more Serious Sam 2 beta footage in SeriousZone's File Archive. Of particular note is a *very* compressed 32-minute hand-cam video showing someone playing the demo at E3 2005 while interviewing one of the devs. Being familiar with the SS3 editor, I have no idea what they mean by TTE Thumbnails. TTE could also refer to "The Third Encounter"... But there's nothing on that there either to my knowledge.
Here are some of my things for the iceberg: 1. Dunes appears in The Second Encounter in "Land of the Damned." It has also made its way into others games. Serious Sam's Bogus Detour - Dunes was here Serious Sam Tormental - Forest 2. 4:07 The T.E.O.R. was in SS3's game files, it finally made an appearance in Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem as the AK-74MX 3. 7:04 The Serious Sam 4 level, "A Breakfast in France" uses the pre-alpha game's layout as the final version 4. 20:10 That part was freaky. But with new AIs such as ChatGPT and AI song covers, I don't know 5. This bit at 8:50 gets more convoluted in Siberian Mayhem 6. 10:48 That's how I imagine my AU titled "Serious Sam: Reimagined." This AU also includes "Legend of the Beast DLC" and "Bright Island (Classics Revolution) 7. 13:53 The Octanians would likely not survive warm temperatures 8. 15:52 Same as T.E.O.R. 9. 19:21 I hope Timelock Studios (the crew behind Siberian Mayhem) manages to make their own SSHD: The Next Encounter 10. 19:37 Siberian Mayhem did a better refinery level 11. 21:20 I was lied to.... 12. 20:19 Croteam would likely do SS2 Reboot after Talos Principle 2 13. 2:40 In The Flesh was mentioned in Siberian Mayhem's Christmas challenges 14. 4:55 I had a feeling that the Khnum (BFE variant) would fit well in Doom 3 as the Baron of Hell 15. 15:43 My head-cannon of Mental's true form is that it's more of an "idea" rather than just an individual (similar to AVGN's theory on Giygas from Earthbound)
I am convinced that SS3 takes place in an alternate timeline of SS4, simply because of the characters in both games. For example: Jones is already dead in SS4 and yet we see another Jones in the intro scene. Rodreges and Hellfire both have different personalities in 3 & 4 and somehow both die easily. In SS4 they were almost equal to Sam in holding up against waves and waves of enemies alone. Professor Neil who appeared in SS4 and talked with Sam multiple times. In SS3 from the dialogues between Quinn and Sam it felt like the two (Neil & Sam) never met. The devs completely contradict both titles to each other to a point I cannot see SS3 as a sequel to SS4 unless it is in a different timeline. And since future Sam mentions "timelines", I think the possibility is more higher.
For the part where the TSE it might not be canon is understandable, because technically TSE would be the last Serious Sam, chronologically speaking that is why doesn't affect any of the previous Serious Sam games if you remove it, in theory Serious Sam 2 would the continuation, but that's pretty debatable, we are still waiting an official continuation for Serious Sam
