I'm surprised the iceberg doesn't mention how to crash Mario Kart DS: stand on the front steps of Luigi's mansion, then press A and B at the same time. Try it, your game will crash.
The thing is, that crash only happens on real NDS/3DS. I've tried the glitch out, in the Wii U Virtual Console Version and it didn't worked. Some people say, that the glitch doesn't work on Emulators.
Really? It's a famous talk you hear about in mario kart games and I've heard it been brought up back in my mario kart wii days many times. Its definitely one of the things on the iceberg that I dont question as some other entries were abit more questionable
It actually is possible to get to both the island on DK Jungle Parkway and the Island on Sherbet Land using a Piranha Prowler mushrooming into a Quacker. The DK Jungle Parkway Island actually has full collision and you can drive on it, but the one on Sherbet Land is out of bounds sadly
I remember a few years ago that me and my friend were trying for an hour or more to get onto the Sherbet Land island, and we were so sad when we finally got there and fell through it.
My best guess for what “FPS mode” is is that it’s the different frame rates between the Japanese/North American versions of the games vs the European versions. If I remember correctly, North America, Japan, etc runs the frame rate in the races at 29.97 FPS (30 FPS just to make it simple), which is known as NTSC. However, many countries in Europe sold a version of the game that ran at about 25 FPS in the races, which is called PAL. As a result, world records would have slightly different times because the NTSC version of the game that was 30 FPS made it so that you drove faster than in the 25 FPS PAL version of the game! In most world records there were comparative times in both the PAL and NTSC versions, and I believe that there was also a conversion equation to show what the equivalent time would be in PAL and NTSC. With the equivalent times being a thing on world record forums, some people preferred to play the slower 25 FPS PAL version because it was like playing the game in slight slow motion, which made it easier to drive well. SummoningSalt talks about this quite a bit in his MarioKart videos, and explains it well!
this is exactly what it is, the same goes for the japanese version of mario 64 it ran faster and smoother than the american vesrsion so speed runners play that version more
As a watered down explanation of the Grumble Volcano Ultra Shortcut, essentially, Mario Kart Wii has key checkpoints, all of which need to be driven through in order to count a lap. The reason the game doesn't count a lap if you simply drive backwards and then cross the finish line is because the game subtracts a lap from you if you cross into the region behind the finish line without going through the other key checkpoints. Once you get onto the rock in Grumble Volcano, you stay in the region of the starting line, (never leaving the region because that would subtract a lap,) and on a certain point around the rock, you cross the final checkpoint of the track, then cross the finish line, making the lap count. This is a watered down explanation of it. Some development oversights allowed these ultra shortcuts to be possible, but Grumble Volcano is probably the biggest one.
It might not be the biggest, but definitely more consistent than similar shortcuts. Back in MK64, you could do that on most courses. Only problem was you'd need pixel-perfect out-of-bounds falls, crazy collisions, or the mushrooms they give you in specific modes.
It was alright, nothing *too* weird or obscure apart from the Russian hostage crisis image Apart from all the game code leaks, Nintendo sure is good at covering their tracks.

Here are some explanations for ones she wasn't so sure on: 'DK Jungle Parkway Island,' (10:32) is referring to the little patch of land at 10:40, and there's a glitch that you can do that launches you to the island. There, you can drive around the little island but that's about all you can do. There's a good video demonstration video of this glitch by the youtuber 'AnaMKW.' If i'm correct, there's a way to do the glitch with only one person; but I couldn't find a video of it. The way that the Grumble Volcano ultra shortcut works (11:57) is that there are invisible checkpoints scattered all around the map, and by going out of bounds on the rock at the beginning, you're basically tricking the game into thinking that you are hitting all the important key checkpoints. Also, to fully make it to all the key checkpoints; you have to drive to a few specific points on the rock or else the lap will not count. The demonstration video you used is someone doing the original technique to go to the rock, but that way of getting to it is outdated and people have discovered much quicker ways of getting to the rock. The 'Sherbert land island' (12:26) is just like the DK Jungle parkway island, and you actually can in fact can make it to it! The only possible way of getting to it from my knowledge is by using hacks, but once you get to the little island; it is out of bounds and you just get picked up by lakitu before being returned to the actual course. There's a video demonstration of this being done by youtuber 'CosmicXD.'
This is one of the better iceberg videos out there and there's a lot of them to see. I didn't exactly expect to be so entertained by the Mario Kart iceberg, yet here we are. Cheers
Fun fact, in the UK, the bonus disc that came with Double Dash was Zelda Collector's Edition, which featured Zelda 1, 2, OoT and MM, all fully playable, and a 20 minute demo of wind waker

Great video! Brings back a lot of memories. Somebody has probably already commented, but at 19:38 in your video, the green thwomp in jail is a reference to Mario 64 - there is a level where you open the jail for it.
The DK Jungle Parkway Island is possible to get on, and the community named it Quacker Island. The Sherbet Land one is also possible but going on top of it counts as out of bounds.
Fun fact: the fake item box has one use in Mario kart Wii. It has the biggest hit box in the game, so people including myself use it to trap shortcuts in the game while online
I remember my friend saying you could only unlock rosalina through galaxy. Strange thing is, I unlocked her as my first unlock in the game, because I got a new wii, but I have never had any galaxy game, and Had no Idea how it happened. Thought I had hacked the game or something.
The DK Jungle Parkway island is probably talking about that. TWD98 has an old video of him getting there called Quacker Island since the quacker was used to get bumped there.
Fun fact the official story in MK64 is that Wario stole Koopa Troopas kart. Also the official canon is that Luigi got the D rank mansion as he’s seen living in it in Dark Moon.
Speaking of the MK K’NEX, i remember when I was younger, watching videos of people making tracks and recording the carts going around it. Idk if anyone else watched those but they were actually pretty cool. The items were interactive with the carts and everything looked pretty clean. Just a random memory this reminded me of :D.
fun fact: in mk64, the island on sherbet land is accessible, while the island on DK's jungle parkway is inaccessible (no hitbox). In the Wii version, it's the opposite, sherbet land has no hitbox, but DK's jungle parkway does, and it's possible to get there without hacking (look it up)

8:30 - When I was a kid I'd drive up to Peach's castle as Mario and then pop in Super Mario 64 and pretend that it was one game... N64 had so many gems ❤️
That is actually really sweet! :)
Marty is my favorite Mario character. Change my mind.
@Ivy Kolinsky I wonder why...
@Ivy Kolinsky I'm not, sorry if it came out that way lol
FPS mode is the difference between Japanese, American and European framerate in Super Mario Kart, which influenced a lot of world records times (in some cases there are more than 10 seconds between the european version)
i really love mario kart and nintendo in general so seeing one of my favorite creators doing nintendo and danganronpa content (and my favorite video layout being icebergs) i couldn’t be happier you’re doing this, mandy!
I’m glad i wasn’t the only one who knew about the mario kart acarde game, i actually remember playing it and it was really fun
Oh damn my bowling alley had some of those
Idk if this is weird but your voice sounds so friendly lol
Mario kart wii be like:
*ARE YOU TRYING TO OPPOSE ME MORTAL*
Ahem-
I really, really like these other non-Danganronpa videos. While I am subscribed for that content, I do believe this stuff really interesting!
I hope Mandy continues doing stuff such as this- as it’s obviously something she enjoys.
Fantastic video.
My orthodontist’s office still has the Mario Kart Channel on it still. I didn’t go on it since I was afraid I would crash the system or delete the application if I did.
4:32 mario and luigi's younger selves along with birdo showing sheer dominance
Don’t mind me, just saving my time stamp. Have a blessed day, though!

Just turn on video history and you won't have to do that
I’m sorry, Americans call melody motorway music park? That’s so much more boring
We didn't pick that name, the localization team did. There's also a possibility that it's called that in the Japanese version and they were being faithful.
Wait what! I didn’t know America’s name was different.
i mean hey either way thats a nice track
Music Park is the original Japanese name, but I agree that Melody Motorway sounds much better. Also fun fact: they didn't bother to edit the banners on the track, so they still say "Music Park" in regions where it's called Melody Motorway.
Well, you guys call the Neo Bowser City track the much more boring "Koopa City" so... :P
Actually, the canon ending to Luigi's Mansion is the Rank D house, as it's the same house you see at the beginning of Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon. Who knows though, maybe Luigi got greedy and decided he wanted two houses? :p
Well there are theories that Mario Kart is really late in the Mario timeline so who knows
Maybe they wanted to represent Luigi's house in the park, but Bowser Jr thought it looked like shit so he made the contruction dudes change it to a more 'sophisticated' house👌
Right after the hammer bro I got an ad saying “Arby’s Roast Beef Sandwhiches” and I thought it was real lol

RE: Maka Wuhu
They patched it for online races only; you can still use the shortcut in single-player and local multiplayer modes.
no, you can do it online too
if the fake item box comes back they should make it so that if a red shell goes through it, it has a chance of turning into a green shell
that's a good idea
I believe the official pronunciation of Wiimmfi is "weem-fye".
The service can also be used with normal WFC games.
I never knew I needed a 40 minute video about Mario Kart, but wow, this was a really cool video!
You did a solid job, Mandy! As a crazy fan of this series it is always awesome to learn new things! I went to the back of my MK64 box to see if there’s a feather there. Must have been for non-NTSC boxes.
Edit: just saw your About page, happy for you! Live it up!
Hold up we just goin from _Cool F-Zero reference haha_ to *TERRORIST ATTACK IN MARIOKART GP* ???
MK7's Maka Wuhu Ultra was patched, but only online. You can still do it in Grand Prix mode and Time Trials.
TWD98 he is honestly iconic
This is Emma's son speaking, the lost beach in mario kart DS is in Mario kart Wii.
Thank you Emma’s son

Thank you Emma's son
Good for you that you're doing different content, Mandy! You should take breaks from Danganronpa content sometimes if you want, stay safe 💜
The name “town pk” makes he think the track might be based off of onett from earthbound since the pk might be referring to the pk moves
In the words of Mario, “Va Va Voom”
True
*va va voomie*
Nice Caddicarus reference.
That "purple shell" really is in the darkness. Theres not ONE youtube video on it
I can prove you wrong
Has anyone made an A Hat in Time iceberg yet? It's got some real potential considering all of the easter eggs and other creepy stuff in it
That would be quite cool
I'm not sure, but you could make it though!
I'm not sure, but you could make it though!
22:08 The real canonical house is rank d since he is in that house in dark moon. This was most likely just an easter egg.
Loved the video Mandy
she literally just posted it

i am now 14 years old and i rlly miss the good old days when i played mario kart double dash, super mario sunshine , mario kart Ds , mario kart wii and many more
Im 12 and i second that
Here are some explanations for ones she wasn't so sure on:
'DK Jungle Parkway Island,' (10:32) is referring to the little patch of land at 10:40, and there's a glitch that you can do that launches you to the island.
There's a video demonstration of this being done by youtuber 'CosmicXD.'
im a girl, it's *she, not he

This is one of the better iceberg videos out there and there's a lot of them to see. I didn't exactly expect to be so entertained by the Mario Kart iceberg, yet here we are. Cheers
The poison mushroom was in the first mario kart but only Peach and Toad bots could use them.
Fun fact, in the UK, the bonus disc that came with Double Dash was Zelda Collector's Edition, which featured Zelda 1, 2, OoT and MM, all fully playable, and a 20 minute demo of wind waker
23:11 reminds me of this arcade game I tried playing years ago. It was four players that needed to move a ball so that their character, some alien statue, needed to race on bikes

I remember borrowing my friend’s copy of super Mario to unlock rosalina because I thought she was so pretty 🥺🥺
Mandy should do more non Danganronpa content. Not that her Danganronpa content is bad. I just love hearing her voice explaining things
Yeah but she explains a lot of things in this video too
im a super mario kart player some years ago, and i didnt know those things about the mario kart series, good video mandy!
Keep doing what your doing it doesn't matter if it is danganronpa content or not
I'm on a roll with watching all of these nintendo iceberg videos
Speak of mario kart arcade, I think I saw a mario kart machine with the guys from Taiko no Tatsujin as playable characters.
I knew I'd done these before, but I was second-guessing myself.
@Chilln0 No way! Are you the guy that made the one iceberg? I loved your iceberg if you are that dude!
Fun fact: the fake item box has one use in Mario kart Wii. It has the biggest hit box in the game, so people including myself use it to trap shortcuts in the game while online
Finally, the iceberg I wanted.
I come to watch Nintendo iceberg videos when I'm bored.
That Double Dash bonus disc also contained tasty stat boosters for Fire Emblem Blazing Blade on GBA which could be used to make Eliwood not suck.
Yesss i watched them aswell and i was always excited about who would win the race
2:21 I almost completely forgot about this. I was starting to think it never even happened._.
for about 1 week, I was actually the record holder on Maka Wuhu before the patch. Lost it shortly thereafter unfortunately
Ouch
fun fact: in mk64, the island on sherbet land is accessible, while the island on DK's jungle parkway is inaccessible (no hitbox). In the Wii version, it's the opposite, sherbet land has no hitbox, but DK's jungle parkway does, and it's possible to get there without hacking (look it up)
