    15:24 the term you’re looking for is “eccentric motion”. The reason it’s so hard, even with light weight, is you’re increasing the “time under tension” on the muscle. Your form looks great bro. Keep it up 👍🏻

    Today, I did a small workout on my arms muscles (without any protein products, supplements and etc). I started it because I had issues with weak hand/arm power in my work. Because of this vlog, I feel well motivated to do it every day. I lift 1kg small wage because I'm not an ego lifter. Thank you, Tank.

    Longtime fan of your other channel. I think I'm not in the demographic this new channel is aimed at, but I'm going to stay subscribed because this is very relateable, and I think I can adapt what I learn to fit my own goals 👊🤘 Thanks, Tank

    #1 - I felt that poop story. Totally get it. 😆
    #2 - The sexy forearm is definitely a thing. One of the hottest things is when a man rolls up his sleeves to just below the elbow. I don't know that we stare at them as much as guys stare at tatas, but it's definitely a "thing."
    #3 - Listening to the breathing is akin to listening to open mouth chewing for me, so I had to mute. Lol. Maybe some music? (Perhaps something in the public domain so you don't have copyright issues).
    #4 - I could never do straight up vegetarian, but I do love veggies. I made a sweet potato/carrot mash the other day that was really good. Just cook like a regular mashed potato, and added a bit of cinnamon at the end.
    Looking forward to the next one!

    Many people underestimate slow tempo reps, and slow tempo negatives with explosive positives. There is a reason so many programs now have a 4 digit number for rep tempo, because it completely changes the game for your workout. For example you may see programs that say 3 sets of 12 with 4-0-1-0 or 3-1-3-1. That's to set your tempo for the negative/eccentric, hold in the hole, the positive/concentric, and your hold at the end of the rep.

    I think you need a little bit of background music. You can fade it in a little more durning your sets so you don’t have to worry about filling the dead air. Overall though your form looks great

    In terms of video feedback, I wouldn't mind if you cut it up a bit, as I'm not following along with the workout in real time. But I totally get that some subscribers might, so I could see an advantage to not cutting it.
    Some background music might be cool. I have a weird thing with heavy breathing into a microphone.
    I like your explanations for why you choose a particular exercise or form. It feels like you're talking to us as if we were standing in your garage with you. It builds connection with your audience, rather than us feeling like we're just watching from the outside.
    Shout out to you and Claire for keeping a clean and neat house while having a little one!

    Great start and keep it up, Tank!

    Great video, I like this a lot. Feels like hanging out with a buddy and having a chat while he is working out and I'm doing housecleaning in the background 😄 I like also there's no cutting... Like you get from others workout videos with annoying background music. I like feeling that we are there through the whole workout from start to finish.
    Anyways.. great work out 💪🏻

    Hey Tank, glad you made this. It is great to "have a workout buddy." Since i work at home, I will high five you from here.
    Not like I am trying to tell you how to do anything, I will just share my experience with you and you can do as you will with it: a simple creatine supplement taken over a couple of months were mind blowing to my results. Then I tapered off and have been able to maintain my strength without needing to continue it. Now that summer is over I do not care as much about having a shirt off and the creatine sure made it nice to have a shirt off, even at 39 :)
    You are awesome Tank! subbed to this channel and look forward to more stuff from you.

    I think your emphasis on slow reps with good form is smart. Not only is it more efficient and safer, but wow, that shit will annihilate you in the best possible way. Total game changer.
    I also really liked the casual conversational tone of this video! Maybe it's weird, but I enjoy vlogs where people are just going about their normal business, even "boring" everyday stuff. The random asides of puppy-spotting and hating on a neighborhood car made me laugh.
    As for video critique...more dogs? 😂 I mean, royalty-free music if you want, I guess.
    And yeah. As a lady who checks out both gents and other ladies, the forearm comparison is...very accurate.

    I loved the video overall! It’s great to see just an average dude working out! I’d totally suggest incorporating some front delt exercises as those are a secondary muscle group you’re already working out hitting chest. There’s nothing better than a great chest and shoulder pump 💪

    Watching this while I have a broken hand and can't really work out at all (except for cardio, but I don't really need cardio). My hand has been in a cast for like 6 weeks and I've already lost 15 pounds. In my case, that's not a good thing. It's kind of amazing how fast your muscles atrophy. Like my forearm jiggles now.

      As a 40 year old who goes to the gym on a regular basis I look at it like this you say you need motivation I'm going to assume you're married have kids that should be a motivating factor right there to be healthy for your family. So work out for your longevity I would just say give yourself 3 days a week 30 minutes at a time Monday Wednesday Friday do 20 minutes of weights and maybe 15 minutes of cardio..

    Hey Tank, thank you for allowing us to be part of yet another journey!
    So, I have a question: if your diet is good, what is the point in supplements, pre-workout etc?
    Also, did you do any warmup prior to this workout? Or is it not needed for the type of exercise you're doing?
    I have never knowingly checked out a guy and thought "phwoar, check out the forearms on that!" 🤣

  • @nick6334
    @nick6334 10 днів тому +1

    Try slowing down the "up" or concentric part of your contractions just a tad. 2-3 second concentric and a 5-6 second eccentric or "down" part. It's also beneficial to have a 1-2 second pause at the bottom of the rep while keeping tension in the muscle as a set intensifier to enhance the stretch. You could also add 2-3 sets of dumbbell fly press to get an even further stretch and push that range of motion ultimately increasing the time under tension.
    As a tip for form I'd say you're doing pretty well but if you try retracting your scapulas/shoulder blades to slightly lift your thoracic spine from the bench and engage your core before pressing, this will help to open up the chest further and enhance the overall contraction.
    You probably didn't see but I commented on your video on your other channel introducing the new content. If ever you're in the south east of England I'd be more than happy to give you free 1 to 1 coaching. I'd also be honoured to do remote coaching with you from time to time.
    I'm not exactly Hany Rambod but I have 15 years experience coaching strongman, powerlifters and bodybuilders including an extensive background in sports nutrition.
    Best of luck Tank!

      As somebody who goes to the gym on a regular basis when people say they need motivation to go my thing is if you want to go you should just start going and set small goals for yourself if that's just to lose like 10 lb just remember how important it is to be physically fit and healthy give yourself like 30 minutes a day just to work out and start from there.. we all have busy lives we all have jobs we all have families so making time for yourself is always important

    First of all, thanks for the motivation. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to train recently due to physical complaints.
    I personally do a mixture of weight training and calisthenics.
    However, I have noticed that you take quite short breaks between repetitions. It should actually be at least 3 minutes between sets.
    And yes, the greater the range of motion, the better for muscle building ;)

    I like the idea of just counting macros as percentage splits. I see so many people get hung up on "one gram of protein per pound of body weight per day," and that is way overkill for almost anybody. You're pooping most of that out (assuming you're not constipated). Pretty much every study has shown you can cut that amount almost in half and be fine for gains. Which also allows you to have more fun with your diet.

    • @AnzaShadow
      @AnzaShadow 9 днів тому +1

      I'm pretty sure most people get the protein thing wrong. I've read it's actually a gram of protein per a kg of body weight which is almost half the amount if it was lbs instead. I've only heard yanks say it's lbs which is an overkill like you said.

    • @suddenswarm5944
      @suddenswarm5944 9 днів тому

      @@AnzaShadow commonly quoted research points to 1.6-2.2 grams per kilo of "Lean" body mass for experienced lifters. most people don't know about the lean part, so would overeat by something like 15%

    Good video. I really like the relaxed way of training. i am allmoust 50 and think your doing good. focus on yourself and remember it is your workout. Only you can tell how your body respond. I been working out for longtime and am really tierd of all that fell they need to tell ppl how to do things. you make the rules of weights, reps, set, and time. Keep up the great work. I will follow your journey. If you do not like the tingeling in the skin of your pre workout try getting one without Beta-Alanin in the blend. thx for all your work from Sweden
    By the way. If you like to get a good burn for the forarms. Try grip the 20kg bar and do Barbell row for 8-10rep, Overhead press 8-10rep, Romanian Deadlift 8-10rep and Barbell Curl 8-10rep. All without putting down the Barbell. Do some set without more then 60sec rest betwen set. good luck with your workout

    I've known 2 vegetarians who have been ordered by their doctors to knock it off. They had to add meat back into their diet. Just a few meals a week, but it was NECESSARY. There's stuff in meat that the body needs that supplements can't replace.

    That was a solid day 1. I used to use Jim’s supplements all the time and found them to be pretty easy in the stomach (I use whey isolate cuz lactose can bother me). I also used to follow his workouts some years back. Currently getting back into the swing of working out and watching/logging my food - we had our first kid (daughter) last year so zero time for working out lol. I’m back to following Ryan Humiston’s workouts. Good stuff.
    Far as the video, maybe cut it down a bit and perhaps every once in a while do a full “follow along workout” vid. Mic on the hat was key. Other than that - crushing it!

    Have you ever thought going Keto or similar low carb? Does that have an adverse effect on your hyperthyroid issue? I love what low carb had done for me, especially since I tested for Type 2 Diabetes. So, I am down to 40 grams of carbs per day for 90 days (35 days in). But once I am done with this period, I am still going to try and keep it under 100. I just find that I feel better, eat less, and in a better mood. Obviously, everyone is different and diets need to match. Keep it up!

    Watching this at 4am while doing a 20km bike ride. I can see me watching these videos while on my bike. A little music would be great.
    And as a female - yes forearms are sexy. Sleeves rolled up showing of toned forearms and strong hands, that are well kept is really sexy. Why? No clue! Maybe because it tends to be overlooked on training. So if that part is toned, the rest of the package is also nice🤔.
    Also of course it's hot a 2 pm. Another reason to work our in the morning. I work out at the ass crack of dawn. Because 1. I am an uber morning person, annoying yes I know. And 2. When I get off work the gym is slammed and I am wasted. So it works out for me that way.
