Thanks for the comment, when your not using it for a long period, turn off the fuel and run it till it runs out of fuel. it will just keep running great for you. or use a fuel additive.
Marvel mystery oil in the gas would have solved all this guys problems. Im running over a year old ethanol gas with MMO and it runs perfectly. No carb issues in my life since I started running Marvel in my gas.
I wondered if you could tell me what size the tubing frame is on that generator? There is a wheel kit that fits it, and I think it would fit my different model generator depending on the tubing size. It looks to be about 7/8" or 1" maybe???
I have the propane version of this generator. One day it wouldn't start, so I took apart the carb and cleaned everything, and it runs great now, and has for 5 years (with annual plug cleaning and regular filter cleaning/oil change). The odd thing is that summer or winter it won't start choked, but has to be wide open, to the point it only starts with the air cleaner off and left off for about 15 seconds. It puts out exactly 120v on the "Watts-Up" meter. I came here to see about replacing the coil and plug wire, since the plug cap is cracked and loose over the plug (but it still runs well except for a little miss every now and then). A coil/wire/new plug kit is only $20, and I have it ordered. I just don't know coil gap, and it's not in the manual. Any suggestions LEWCANFIXIT?
Steve, Great Question!, If you CAN find a spec you should use that. But in your case, you will use a standard business card. 1. remove old coil 2. install new coil with bolts loose 3. align the flywheel magnet to the coil, & place the card between the two. 4. push the coil down so it pinches the business card, and screw in the bolts for the coil. 5. pull out the card. 6. spin the flywheel slowly by hand and make sure there is no contact between the coil and flywheel. 7. Done This is the approach I use. Thanks again! Lewis
@@LEWCANFIXIT Thanks Lewis. When the part arrives, that'll be exactly what I do. It's a pretty good little generator, and has been reliable since I cleaned the carb about six months after I bought it years ago.
I have a Sportsman Gen4000 Generator and I am having a problem with the exhaust valve. It seems to not want to open and close. How would I correct this problem?
You could do that but you need to see what shaft is used between the engine and the generator. Its usally is a tapered shaft and that's special order because most on shelf engines have a 3/4" keyed shaft. You would also have alot of trial and error with the carb/governor configuration. I would not recommend it.
I have the exact same generator. It’s been sitting for 4 years. I put fresh gas in it. It fired up on the 3rd pull. But it won’t generate power. Any suggestions?
Have one thats practically new i keep the oil change new spark plug am checking the oil in one day it continues do get low an notice oil is blowing through the air filter an oil is all around the carburetor a practically new generator can someone tell what that can be
Just bought this exact generator. Saving this video for future repairs! Thank you

Greeting, LEWCANFIXIT. it's absolutely interesting video. thanks. :)
Thank you.
Thank you
What cleaning solution did you use in the ultrasonic cleaner?

The two metal pieces that go around the fly wheel to get it started I don't know how they go in it so that when I pull the strings it will start

YOU FORGOT TO PULL OUT THE EMULSION TUBE
Your Right! but thank goodness the ultrasonic cleaner still cleaned it without removal, because it still runs like a champ!
What's the valve clearance?
Have you ever think about replace it with the Honda engine? Can we do that?

Replace the automatic voltage regulator
What size spark plug does it use

Use ethanol-free gas.
How to change generator section:)))plz
No power when running
