I have been in Malta for 18 yrs and I am leaving end of July, things such as the rubbish/transport become normal and accepted after a while. What Bali is correct in saying is that you leave because there is a pull factor elsewhere and not because of any significant problems in Malta. Work has always been easy to find, the people are great and apartments are easy to find although getting expensive. I have been really lucky, I rent a one bedroom town house in Naxxar for 400 euros and 60 euros toward water/electricity (always end up with a refund every three months) I have an agreement with my landlord to maintain the property. Cost of living is getting out of control, even though this is worldwide the retailers have really capitalised on the situation, it is actually cheaper to buy British brands compared to local and Italian goods. The only reason I am leaving is because I have small Island syndrome, I have seen all of Malta and Gozo and after a while it all seems the same, also your heart always belongs at home and this is what is finally pulling me back to the UK. Malta thank you for all your love and what you have provided and I will leave with a heavy heart x.

It is very interesting for me, being Maltese, to hear the different opinions about Malta. Why people love it so much and they choose to leave their home country for a better life. When you live life mostly in the same country you tend to stop seeing the good side. So these videos make me appreciate more my country.

I lived in the USA and never stopped seeing the good side (I was there for 2 years) though I would not like to go back there now! Coming from England, I find Maltese and Gozitan attitudes can be a tad insular and a sense of humour to be lacking; but the lifestyle is generally relaxed and it is far easier to do everyday things here - shopping, travelling around, chatting to people around the village or in town, relaxing in a cafe or restaurant, etc - and these things are often a lot more pleasant here as well. Over-development is the biggest visible threat on both Malta and Gozo, imo, and ruination of what is basically a rural community with beautiful old architecture is marching forward without brakes from the government, etc. Crazy! You would never see such foolishness on a Greek island such as Crete.

Malta sells a fake lifestyle and many other things. Maltese people should be ashamed of creating a slavery country. Highly immigration happens in many other countries, the operational job positions are the same as Malta but people can at least save money and have a minimum comfortable life. Again: Malta is a slavery country.

We had plans on staying in Malta for many many years but, unfortunatley, have decided to leave (once my final semester at uni is finished) as it's WAY too expensive here for us and Malta doesn't offer us the same opportunities as the UK. Even with my partner working full-time and myself working part-time, we are still struggling so much every month. However, we have loved living on the island and are very sad to leave! :(

Hi, I was born in Malta and have a Maltese background. Came to Australia when I was two. Now in my fifties. I wish I could tell Bali not to bother coming to Australia. We have the highest rentals, housing market, cost of living, cost of electricity in the world. Australia is going through so many changes that is going to divide us. It’s also a country where it’s hard to make friends. People are so down because it’s so hard to make ends meet. I’ve been back to Malta three times. The weather is gorgeous. It’s a great place because their second language is english which makes it easy for tourists. Unfortunately Malta is becoming overpopulated as is everywhere around the world. And too many over construction, again like everywhere in the world. I wish Bali the best. More of these videos, Alex. Love them.

I've been in Malta for a few months now. I've also noticed groceries are about 30% more expensive compared to home (Netherlands). And I go to Lidl in both places, so it's easily noticeable between similar products. Housing isn't a lot cheaper either, with rentals as well as home purchases. Although I would never even consider buying here due to the overpopulation. I'll be moving on after 4,5 months, but it'll be easier for me as a remote worker. Malta is nice, but mostly for a couple months up to maybe a few years. On the upside, weather here is definitely amazing and it's easy to meet people. There's also plenty of touristy things to do, but there's only so much to see and nothing that's majorly impressive. Interesting video and thanks for your content Alex!

Obviously ,I don't think he wants to return to Hungary 🇭🇺 🤪 ... I left my Malta 🇲🇹 ♥ for the UK 🇬🇧 ♥ and my BIGGEST mistake was leaving the latter for Australia 🇦🇺 😔. Notwithstanding, the average wage of Analytical Chemist in Australia is $65K (as at 1/2/23) and obviously more if one works in the Mining Industry. I advise BALI to stay up to date with the Australian Immigration NEWS as they're going to be a lot of imminent changes to fix the mess the system been in for these last 10yrs. Afterall, "Life is like a Vegemite Test" 😊. I wish young BALI all the best for the future .Bless him 🙏 .

The wages in professional fields are quite high in Australia but the cost of living is now super crazy. All the major cities also have a housing crisis and locals like me who have lived here struggle to get a spare room to rent. You have to really hustle and be very patient and persistent to get a room to sublet / share or your own apartment. A room to rent in Brisbane is $AUD250-400 per week and much higher in Sydney. Best of luck to Bali for his adventure to Australia.

Cost of living unfortunately is a problem in many places, it’s very tough for young people starting out. I live in Toronto and I’m encouraging my children to leave. To buy a one bedroom apartment here you need a household income of $160k a year, it’s very tough now.

@@AlexinMalta Yes salaries are much higher but you need to earn $AUD150,000+ to pay rent / bills and save anything. This is a high salary but anything under $100K in larger cities and you will struggle financially. I am Australian and have lived in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. Adelaide and Darwin would be my recommendation to get a job and live to get ahead, have a good life and save $

@@AlexinMalta Salaries in Australia are much higher because everything is much more expensive compared to most EU countries. It would be impossible to live here with the average EU salary. A 65,000 EUR salary in Malta would be enough for a family to live decently and also get a mortgage. That's around AU$100,000 and you would likely need some form of government support here if you have family and rent. You can forget about mortgages with that amount.

People tend to mention the cost of food and renting in Malta which yes is pretty expensive. But as we all know, there are other costs that are equally important such as, clothes, shoes, gadgets, dining out, perhaps a car and of course holidays. When you factor all of this combined, then you can honestly say if Malta is still worth living here or not . Because let's face it, if you are a single person earning €1000 per month net, you can forget about living a comfortable lifestyle. I could go on and on, but it would take me ages to finish. Hope you had a great time at Notte Bianca Alexa 😅. Of all the places to have met with you 😅😅😅. Any hooo, life is a journey I say, and as we grow older and experience the world, our priorities change also. Good luck to all who decide to venture out and experience what this World has to offer.

Listening to young gentlemen and how he idolized his dream about living in Australia...
I am thinking that he is not going to find there what he believes he is going to find.
Australia as well doesn't offer easily and often well paid jobs, yet the costs of living are exorbitant.
Anyhow, everyone has to try their own luck, but my advise is: do your research before you decide to make the leap.
More often then not, move endsup being like jumping from the frying pen into the fire. I am talking about financial success. Experience wise, moving countries is great learning experience!!!!
