I've said for years, way back before we had all our technology, things were made with such painstakingly methods and were so lovely to see. Now when we have ability to create beauty so easily it's all flash and glass and may be something to behold, but here we are trying to recreate the old. Thankfully we have ones like you who can bring back that look and feeling. These old looks are warm and comforting
I love how European your work is. Us Americans run to much with trends. Stunning and beautiful every time. Thank you for sharing your technique and talent. Truly inspirational. 💕
Dear JMM --- I just knew that little blue chubby would be that beguiling glam edged gal !! Taking the time to show us the entire process is giving us courage & practice in seeing the steps needed -- I wait for the end to see the $ shots -- I hold my breath & let it out slowly as the beauty flows by ...! ❤
I was afraid you couldn’t pull this one off. But after watching you for so long I should have known you’d bring it home…and that you did. Absolutely gorgeous!!
Oh! Wow Wow Wow! 🤩 At first i said Mammamia!😮 Then F A V O L O S O ! 😍 What a messy but cool techique. Just fabulous! Thanks so much! It's a real pleasure watching you create ! Grazie! 🙏
You, sir, are incredible!! 👏🏻 Every project you do blows my mind! You’re “The Paint Whisper”!! To be clear, I’m not simply speaking of this project…rather, everything you paint! I admire your work! Thank you for bringing us along on the journey, Jonathon!! I'm eager to see what you complete next!! 🫶🏻 I’ve got a concern. 🙋♀️ I’ve never used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint…or waxes. Actually, I’ve never used anything from her line. The only chalk paint I’ve ever tried is the Waverly brand you get from Walmart. I purchased some Annie Sloan Chalk Paint and clear wax to paint an old wooden makeup vanity of mine. I’m still not quite ready for the painting part though. Anyway, I was speaking to a lady the other day about the project I’m doing and told her what brand of paint and wax I’ll be using. She said that she quit using Annie Sloan clear wax because it’s reavlly hard to work with. Like it’s hard to buff and takes a lot of muscle to work it. She said she didn’t know if they’ve changed the formula since then though. It’s been several years since she’s used it. So, do you know if they’ve changed the formula for the clear wax in the past 5+ years? Is she right…that it’s hard to work with? I’d love to hear what you think. Thanks a million in advance!! 🤍 Oh! One more question. What did the high temperature get to while you were working on this piece? You mentioned that it was the hottest day ever there. Just curious. 3🤗
Johnathon, What I loved the most was the way you staged this wonderful piece. It suits it perfectly. I felt like I was looking at an 18th century stiff life painting. Bravo!!
Absolutely gorgeous redo! Several times had me holding my breath, sure you were going to ruin what you had just done. Amazing results! I just love it! And that top is pure genius!
Oh my goodness, what a beauty this turned out to be. I never doubt your vision, techniques or the final outcome, but I do have to admit there were a few scary moments there early on. Sily me - a doubter never again!
Thank you so so much I suppose creating beautiful and products is about vision and sometimes my vision can be a little bit sideways so it throws people off 🥴😊😊
Dude, I love you! You are amazing. You have given this old lady the impetus and tutorials to attempt the wonderful world of chalk painting. Your creativity is boundless.
Oh lovely you turned this piece into a work of art !!! - I was in a Greek Church today & looking around - I was wow JM would go crazy in here with all this antique furniture … 😂def looking at wood in a different way …. Love all your techniques & you make everything look so simple - I want to try …. Thank you for sharing all your expert knowledge……
This piece was lovely and now she is stunning!! I kept wanting to do some subtle something to the "rope" trim on the top....however, you are the expert. Thank you for a wonder video!!!
Absolutely stunning!!! The Pink and Brown together are just magic!!! And they way you created the stone look with the different colors and the layers of salt wash that you literally sprinkled over the top is genius and it turned out AMAZING!!!!! I just love your work!!!
Simply gorgeous! The final look of your furniture art is what I would want in my home. I see a lot of practicing in my future. Thank you so much for the time you put into these tutorials.
Thankyou Jonathon! I trolled through pages to find something on 'painting over waxed pieces, and here you are. I can now get to my next project without any worry. Still watched to the end, to watch you create another stunning piece.
Let me first just say, she’s AMAZING!! Also, I have learned so much from you, especially about color theory. I never thought of all the color mixing available at my fingertips and what using a color on the opposite side of the color spectrum would do to the paint. I would have thought it crazy to mix such colors 😂. I know better now! I really appreciate you taking the time to explain why you did something, and how you can get different results. Instead of just doing it and hoping we figured out why, or even keeping the “secret” to yourself. Thanks again! I’m really excited to find a piece I can just experiment and have fun with. And knowing I can actually use Annies Chalk Paint over her wax, will change the way I approach so many of my pieces. Thanks again Jonathon. I am so very grateful to you!
Jonathan, I can't tell you how much you have inspired me to redo some of my old shabby chic pieces to see if I can remake them beautiful like yours. No rhyme, no reason, just play with it and have fun. Thank you for sharing your time and talent with all of us.
You are amazing! What a beautiful piece of furniture. The layering is what gives it the old world look and I love those beautiful embellishments that add so much dimension. Great job!!!
OMG ! Jonathon ITS ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! Just WOW ! ❤️❤️❤️ As Always ❤️EVERYTHING you put Your paint Brush too Have an Awesome Day till next time be Safe and take care 🥰
Johnathan you rock!!! Love the techniques on this piece, can't wait to try them myself. You make it look so easy, you are a natural. Thanks for sharing. I'm in sunny Southern California 😎
Thank you so much and I’m so pleased you’re gonna take away some of the techniques from this tutorial and I suppose when it comes to being a natural it’s taken years and of course I learn by lots of mistakes just like everybody else xx
Wow! There ought to be moss growing on the stone top. I appreciate the artistry in every layer of paint wax gilding staging editing voice over--all of it. Now to just get my paint brush wet-- risk it for a biscuit as my 2nd favorite Jonathan would say (Jonathan is my own son's name too 😘)-- and practice with a brave, playful spirit.
Jonathan, love your work...will watch it again and again as I have with so many of your tutorials. Keep inspiring us, we need it in this messy world. Thank you for sharing your talent.
Beautiful! I was skeptical at first when you said pink, but I really liked how you toned it down. I’m not a pink fan, but this one was not “in your face” pink. Thanks for the tutorial!
This turned out absolutely gorgeous, I don’t think you could have made a more beautiful pink for it. I plan to do more washes. Thanks for all your tips❤️
Wow Jonathan this is just gorgeous. When I first saw it I thought how can you improve this its lovely already. By oh my goodness you took this to so many other levels. I love the colour it would fit in any room in my home no problem. You are so very talented and thanks for sharing with us all.
Jonathon, Everything you do is stunning! Lovely look on this piece and the WoodUBend is exactly what it needed, as well as the handles! You always know what goes well on a piece! Oh, and the color is just gorgeous!

The colors and subtle glam are so much a major part of the elegance!
I would have never thought of those color combinations! Just so classy and sophisticated! Love it!
