  • Complete how to tutorial on installing a door seal on a Samsung washing machine (front loader). If you're going to do a temporary fix which might be good enough for a permanent fix, then use polyurethane sealant, such as Selleys 310ml Grey Flexiseal Polyurethane Sealant. The silicone i use in the video will harden and not seal for very long, maybe 10 washing cycles before it leaks again. The Polyurethane Sealant could almost be a permanent fix if your lucky, so i would try that first if you want to save some money, otherwise replace the seal.
I got my seal from eBay (Seller information - appliancepartsaus)

Tried to do this for about an hour last night and quit before I kicked the door off and threw the whole thing in the tip. Started again with a fresh attitude this morning and nailed it! Thank you so much, this has been the most helpful youtube tutorial ever.
Handy hint for future people watching, if you're on the smaller/female/less strong side, a flathead screwdriver (used gently - don't want to tear the brand new seal!!) helps to get the spring coil over the lip of the outer seal.

Wow so grateful for this very detailed video. I didn’t find $2 under my machine BUT it is now brand new again. AND we actually repaired it to then donate it to the flood victims in Australia 2022. So, your gift has allowed a family to enjoy a not-leaky washing machine thank you so much :D

Great video. I’ve now ordered the seal. I replaced my old Simpson after 10 years because the seal started leaking. Had this new Samsung for two years and it starts leaking… call out costs half the washing machine price so thought I’d replace it myself and your clear great video has given me confidence. Hardest part is going to be getting the inner ring back on, but with 2 curious kids with smaller hands, we’ll get it done. Thank you for taking the time to compile this video.
Spoke too early, i took the rubber off at the front and removed the top, and though I've got the same looking bubble model as you show, the plastic drum extends in mine all the way to the front, so I ended up having to take the front panel off (two of the screws are behind the controller so that was tricky) but that give good access to the top screw of the inner loop. And here is where the problem started. I realised soon that the screw has been overtightened and that no amount of 90 degree thumb manipulation could get it loose... it's so tight that the thread just gave out (I had to use elbow screwdrivers) and now after a full day of trying I still haven't been able to get the screw off... it's hard as rock and although I have screw drivers that grip (I am using a flat one) it's still impossible to take off.

Thanks for this! After the initial distress of discovering a leaky machine, finding this tutorial, ordering a replacement part and having fixed it successfully with your help I wanted to add another grateful comment. You should realize the amount of money you've saved people all over the globe! When I asked my dad initially if he ever replaced such seal he looked dumbfounded because their Miele is still working fine after 40y(!). Can't expect that from modern electro and the current service based models, but you bought this machine a few more years hopefully!
On the process; I did spend 2h instead of 13' mostly fiddling with getting the inner ledge on (on that note, the lubricant might help with it sliding on, but also makes it easier to slide back off when you're trying to hook it over at the end and/or working to get the spring secured) but with some perseverance it did all work out. Don't get dissuaded.

Amazing video. I studied this whilst waiting for the part to come.
Worked at it today and I'm doing a test wash right now. That inner seal and wire was a pain!!! I think my problem was having the wire too tight when trying to fit it, slowing loosening it and ensuring the inner seal stayed in seemed to finally get it right. Thanks so much for putting this video together!

Thanks Outie555, pearler of an instructional vid, great presentation, cam angles, audio and editing. Love your work :). I couldn't however get the inside seal on using your method, it kept slipping off from another part when getting past half of it on. I checked all the comments to see if anyone else had that problem and had offered a solution, and ironically it was the one negative comment right at the bottom that led me to the solution. I am guessing that perhaps not all seals have the same flexibility (difference between Samsung and aftermarket supplier perhaps?). In any case I ended up figuring out how to remove the front panel (remove console cover first, and DO NOT REMOVE DOOR OR LATCH) and with that out the way it was much easier to get the seal on. I write this in the hope it helps others out if they can't get your method to work. Thanks again for saving me and many others many $$.

Whew, took me 3 hours :-) Thanks for the video, it did help, but it's quite a finicky job. My biggest problem was positioning the inner clamp wire... Until I realised that on my model you actually have to turn the screw clockwise to untighten. I also had to remove the front control panel. Anyway, 3 hours and 5 cuts later job done.

Ok, yet another do it yourselfer who followed your video.
Boy is that a fun job, I must have slid the rubber onto the washing bowl a dozen times and it slid right off 11 times. I was really concerned when I went to stick the wire ring back, but amazingly it dropped right into place. Then there was the outside rubber ring with the springy wire. The rubber wasn't so bad because it could be handled much more easily than the inner seal but the springy ring, goodness is that hard on the fingers, mind you it only took about 4 attempts so I guess it was easier than the inside ring.
I did find that if you "carefully" shoved a bit of three by one between the back of the control panel and the tub you could give yourself a bit more room to get your fingers in when fitting the inside seal. I suspect that once you have the knack the inside seal is easy, on the 12th attempt it just seemed to roll straight on without much effort, pity that didn't happen on the first attempt.
My last repair was the rubber hose from the soap tank to the inner housing, broke the tank and I had to weld that back together with a hot knife and some hot melt glue.
Thanks for the video. My Samsung front loader lives, yet again, and, doesn't leak anymore.

  • @knudknollard3309

Great video. This gave me the confidence to order a new seal for £25 and do the silicone trick so the machine could still be used. I put masking tape either side of the missing bit and filled the gap with silicone. I then formed the tape to the right shape and left it to set. When I removed the tape next day, the seal was so good I felt like leaving it as a permanent repair. However, a couple of weeks later, the bodge started to leak again so I reviewed the video and set to work.
The only issues I had was the small hose clip fell off and disappeared under the drum - aghh! Luckily it ended up somewhere near the front of the machine and I was able to retrieve it with a magnet on a stick after I got the seal out. The other issue is the inner drum wire on my later UK machine was released by tightening the screw, not loosening it. This works against a spring that provides the tension to hold the seal in place. Had to remove the soap dispenser to figure that out, but that step isn't necessary if you know. My other tip is to use a quick clamp to hold the drum to the back of the machine, giving you TWO hands to refit the seal!
But my advice is just a bit of decoration on top of a very good cake. Well done, and thanks :)

A few things not made too clear...
The small triangular tab on the seal is there for a reason. It lines up with a mark on the drum to ensure it is in the correct position.
The wire on the inner seal area is loosened by screwing in ( clockwise) and not like a jubilee clip ( anti clockwise)

I found the inner clamp untightens clockwise. I got this wrong undoing it but with the help of my son who didn't know which way clockwise was we succeeded. Also, putting the inner clamp back on, we just put the seal on first then slipped the clamp over the top. After checking the funnel and hose I can't find any moisture or sign of leaks so I suppose I can rule out this particular part being an issue. I have a feeling my leak is coming from one of the hoses down in the bottom right corner at the front as the door seal is also in perfect condition. Hopefully you have a video showing the best way to go about checking and it replacing hoses down there. Turns out the water dispensing tray above the detergent draw was leaking. I replaced the door seal on my Samsung washing machine and man was it tough. I think The Secret is to use a lot of soapy water because it's really hard to get it on the inside rim.

Thanks matey for uploading this video, it helped me a lot. Btw I used silicone spray to apply the sealing easier. I guess your video was helpful for at least 80.000 other people as well!

Yep you made that look too easy. Waiting for someone to fit on the back drum. Easy to get off a pain in the ar5e to get back on.

I watched other videos after yours, and yours is probably the best and most comprehensive. However, some show pulling out several hoses from the door seal. Just different models? Thanks.

Many thanks for your excellent instructions. Still took me north of 2 hours... most of that time fitting the seal on the inside and fiddling with the inside wire. If you have any more detailed insider tips on getting the deal started on the inside, that would certainly help. All that said... thanks again... and if I needed a reason for never buying a front-loader again, I've found it.

I just did all that..except I took it all apart. Found that the shock absorbers were off or broken. ( not connected) so I hooked them all up. Put the new seal on and began putting the door back on. DIDN'T line up at all..i had to raise it at least 8 inches. Finally adjusted it enough for the door to close snug. I followed step by step on several videos and I'm 100 % sure the seal is installed correctly. Wrong, still leaking down the door right through the seal. What am I missing? I don't know what to do..i just bought this washer used and I seriously regret it. I know it's not the "other" 3-4 culprits it could be as I checked everything else. It's the seal. Brand new, help please
