- In this video, I head off to a favourite pine wood to test out a new hot tent and cook up some breakfast. The Black Orca ‘Smokey Hut’ tent from OneTigris is a super lightweight Silnylon pyramid tent what can be used with a wood burning tent heater for winter camping or hot tenting.
OneTigris kindly sent me this tent to try out and being so impressed by it, I really wanted to share it with you. This isn’t a review, but more a first impressions video and an opportunity to try it out with my old .50cal ammo can tent heater. Whilst the wood stove is lit and the tent nice and cosy, I escape the rain and wind outside and cook up some eggs and sausage for breakfast - oh, and some seriously hot hot sauce than nearly blew my head off!

Hey Simon I'd LOVE to see a light stove build in your future. I've made a few that work great, one is out of a 1 gallon tin can and beer bottles for the chimney! I've seen a cool stove made from those tiny beer kegs;) cheers from USA

I too own a Polish Laavu and indeed pretty heavy compared to this gem. Wanna have one for sure. You can just tuck it away in the backpack with ease.

Howdy. Thanks for checking the temps with the thermometer. That is a great idea. I purchased a tent stove during the summer. I'm making a tarp tent with a home made stove jack and will test it this winter. As always you make great videos.

I live in Barcelona and have been recently hiking up in the mountains about a couple of hours north (welcome any time!) and I've been wanting to do some winter camping up there. Now i know i can get a lightweight tent that i can put a wood burner in (I'm definitely in for the competition too!), I'm thrilled, as there's a fair bit of hiking up there and I didn't want to be taking really heavy gear. Bought myself a Zebra billy can and mini alcohol stove and went and sat under my tarp shelter in the rain with a warm brew. Even bought myself one of those foldable cups from Wildo that you have, though mine is desert tan so I've not completely copied you ha.

Count me "in." I built my own .50 cal ammo can stove last month and have been looking at either the Smokey Hut or Iron Wall by OneTigris/Black Orca. Those look like great shelters that work great for winter camping. Great video. Breakfast looked great.

At first I thought the hole for the pipe was included in the tent design, but you made it of course... strange cutting a hole in a brand new tent :-)

I'm in ! I,m an avid canoeist and back parker ! I have 5 son's and we do a family canoe trip
every 2 year! The last trip was the Huricana river in Quebec Canada! Was supposed to be a 2 week trip and ended up 3! I'm retired and now days I do alot of single tripping in the southern tier of NY state! I'll stop doing this the day the lay me in the ground! love your videos! I'm in, and thanks for the opportunity! Hot tenting is really the only way to go for nearly half the year in Quebec. Slept under the stars at -22C once, but not that young and dumb anymore... Quinzhees are better.

Use to have a Lavvo but it got stolen some years ago and I never bothered to by a new one. It was also to heavy carry around by my self on longer trips. Now watching your video I suddenly realize how much I miss this type of tent. It would be absolutely perfect for me and my two dogs. All year around.

Great video 👍. The more I research, the more I'm leaning towards the One Tigris for myself. One alteration I'm thinking of in setting up mine.
