No matter what type of trip you take, if you film it, I will watch. Your camera work is advanced, your voice calming, and your content is always educational. Thank you for creating, I'll be watching. Cheers!
You shouldn't have to explain your self Simon . We as family men appreciate how difficult it is to do the things you love ! I always smile when your notifications pop up . Absolutely great 👌 thank you !!
Hornworm your phone is great quality for filling bruv So if you ever want to go super light you know you can just use that :) Thanks for alllll the work you do for us Love ya mate
Simon, its awesome that you've been doing UA-cam this long and you never run out of ideas for fresh content. I'll have to try bikepacking one of these days. Cheers bud!
Another excellent video Simon. You mentioned that you’d only bought limited water. Maybe a 2 or 3 Ltr cycling Camelbak might be a low profile option for more significantly water capacity. Just a thought 🙂
I've never had lamb liver and I mean to look into it now. I've had beef and pork liver. Don't care for the pork. Really looked tasty to me! I'd also like to try the Knorr stock pots.
@@maryblaylock6545 my mum always did lambs liver, I think she preferred it, but I discovered years after leaving home I preferred beef liver. It’s all good, I love my bistro gravy too… yum. I miss my mums cooking, she was a great cook.
You're right about being good for your mental health, I only watched the video and I feel better already. Imagine how great I'd feel if I actually went out there and did it.
Thank you so much Simon for the outing. I live through you. If it werent for your videos id go stir crazy. I didnt even get to retire as a coast to coast truck driver. My health brought me down so i have not even attempted going camping. Its been 2 years since i got to kayak also, even longer to canoe. God bless you Simon and keep them coming youve got an old fan base that keeps on watching, and seeing your sub grow dramatically soon youll have 150k.
Super enjoyed this one. So tranquil and relaxing. I use nature as a mental health reset as well. Being stuck in the middle of a cold snap in Northern Canada means not getting out just now. Your content is the next best thing for me. Cheers Simon!
Haven't commented on your videos before. Just like to say that it was fantastic , you cought the atmosphere just right. You seem to be one of life's genuine good guys. Well done and thanks for the escape. Brian.
I really like these videos, makes me want to go camping like I use to when I was younger. I used to just find a good place by myself and go fishing, have a few beers, a good meal, great times.
I'm quite impressed at how well equipped you were considering the lack of carrying capacity. I guess you just gotta make sure not to take stuff you don't need.
I just love watching and listening to you on your outings, no matter what you do. When I get that notification I literally stop what I’m doing and go watch! Liver and onions is also one of my favs. I’m an old granny in Tennessee. Thank you!!
Primeval. That's the word that comes to mind for this one. Some of the shots of you cooking over the fire, the bird sounds, the morning sunlight through the trees. Could have been yesterday, or a million years ago.
👋👋👋 Simon , as always awesome! Doesn't matter Simon how you get us out there be it walk, wheels, boat, you help us to long for our journeys with you. Thank You for all you go through to take us there !!!! stay safe👋 see yeah next Journey 👋
I grew up with mom making beef liver and onions all the time. Now when I go and visit my dad he always has me make it, except now it's buffalo because he knows a guy that raises them. Take care
Good video liver onions and mushrooms are my favourite I don't know how I missed this video .excellent bike packing love it .I got used to seeing you in the water 💧
Love Liver and Onions! My grandmother made them for me many years ago and I still crave them occasionally. You should make a bike sidecar for Maggie, or put her in your bike trailer...LOL! Another great video.
So good to watch one of your videos again. I fell victim to not being notified, so I appreciate your message on that. Wishing you well from Washington State, US.
It's to bad you couldn't stay and enjoy the morning a little more, sometimes it seams we rush to much these days, always learn something new, keep going. TSN
I’d like to see more people preheat their frying pan BEFORE putting the oil in it. It is so better to do it that way. Professional chefs do it that way, the oil has less time to degrade and also, especially with cast iron and steel pans, it does a mini “season” as the oil hits the hot metal. Aside from that 🧐 great video!😁. Very partial to liver and onions myself, I like to use a few good slops of Stout in mine, with a little sugar to compensate the bitterness, I also caramelise my onions. Everybody has their own twist on a classic of British cuisine.😁 Very interested to see your carrying method on your bike, I’ve just got a hybrid bike that I want to start cycle camping on. I have some excellent NVA (East German army) backpacks that I us as haversacks (shoulder bags), but they also make really good panniers as well, there are two types, both are waterproof, but one sort also has a roll top waterproof liner to totally seal it against water ingress. They also look pretty cool with their strichtarn camo pattern!😁. What size is your Blackburn Outpost Frame Bag? As far as I can tell, you can’t fit the water carrier where you have yours, with the large size frame bag, which is a shame, as the water carrier looks pretty damned good for larger canteens or sleeping mats etc. Update: Just bought the Blackburn Outpost Frame bag in large size, think yours must be a smaller one, mine takes up all the space up, also bought the Blackburn extra big water carrier, going to fit it on my front fork, might get another though, to fit under the bottom frame like yours. Found some Ortlieb City Rollback panniers for £90 for a pair, 40 litre capacity, total. They’re quite a bit bigger than my NVA backpack ones, thinking to get them, then maybe hang my sleeping bag and sleeping mat off the handlebars instead of a handlebar bag, that should give me a similar capacity to my LK35, which is my usual backpack for overnighters. Happy days are a coming!😁
It’s amazing how much you can pack on that bike. While your liver and onions looked good, they are not my cup of tea. I grew up we had them at least once a month, with mashed potatoes, and canned spinach with onions, chopped hard boiled eggs, and vinegar. It was always the same every month for years and years. I won’t eat it now.
SO MANY good things to comment on: I have your folding fry pan on my 'to-buy' list. On your camp, your meal may have crowded the pan...but it seems to be the proper size for your expanded twig stove. Lamb's liver is my favorite liver, with milk-fed veal coming second. I cook liver thickly sliced, say even one-inch thick, and keep it medium-rare. As a child, my Mom and Dad liked well-done beef liver, dusted as you did and cooked with bacon and onion. We had that from time to time. Your off-road biking skills are 'something.' You demonstrate that it is good to KEEP active and to keep fit. It may be difficult to believe, but I was a winner of Girl in the Woods 100,000 viewers give-away: she sent a generous package of camp cookery things--enough to do whatever needed to be done for one in the woods. Of course, I am 'chuffed,' but the point is the package included a twig stove. I never have had one or used one before. So, I paid close attention to your video and learned something!
Thank you James!! Nice prize - you lucky fellow - twig stoves are great, they take a bit of getting used to and you need to keep feeding them, but the fuel is free and there’s a lot to be said for that! Happy cooking!
Nice video Simon 👍. Beautiful & peaceful lt forest, you found 👍👌.I'm one of those people how don't like , liver or kidney 🤮. Now stake strips & some grated cheese 😋😋.
super peaceful, thanks Simon. I have never seen anyone go camping and eat liver and onions, and I have never ever seen anyone eat liver and onions with gravy in a tortilla... you definitely think outside the box. Stay well
Cor blimey, you had me at the liver, bacon, onion and gravy. I luv mushrooms but hadn't thought about it in with liver. Have to try that. Yes my good ole Mum got me to enjoy my liver. Cheers
Hi Simon, if you want to spice up your liver, mushrooms & onions meals. Try frying the meat in red wine. It creates a delicious gravy. Thanks for the video 💜
Looks absolutely delicious Simon ! I love liver and onions . I never considered doing over a campfire, but I'm definitely going to try it. Keep up with the great videos .
Nice video. No big deal on weekly videos family must come first ❤. By the way love the liver. I like a few carrots cut up in it to add a little more sweetness
Just love a little grill and a little twig stove. Doesn’t matter to me what kind, as long as it’s fast, light and fits easy. I have way too many, shaking my head. The twig stoves keep a fire contained, small, which cleans up so much better. Thanks for letting us tag along. Texas

simon, a bloke with offal in the woods ! I nearly had a heart attack when you said 'better than o'boy!
No joking i cant believe there is anything better for Simon. In the states most i get is SwissMiss.
One of my favourite meals my
mum made when we were kids, liver, onions, sausages, bacon, garden peas mash and gravy, scrumdidliumtious.
Yum!!! 😋
I've never had lamb liver and I mean to look into it now. I've had beef and pork liver. Don't care for the pork. Really looked tasty to me!

I am the only one who eats liver and bacon in my family. I will have to try your one pan cook.

A great looking meal. My wife and I haven't had liver and onion for a long time. I've a mind to remedy that very soon.
Thank you Simon, appreciate your hard work. You're a genuine person, good father. Plus honest & forthright. Thank you again.
Glad to know about the notification anomalies - I used to think they were fairly foolproof but have discovered it isn't so!
You're right about being good for your mental health, I only watched the video and I feel better already. Imagine how great I'd feel if I actually went out there and did it.
You could carry a bladder pack when your on your bike also good for canoe trips every thing.👍🍻
Agreed! I carry a CamelBak Mil-Spec Crux Hydration Pack
I came to the comment section to say the same thing
I have a camelback, great way to carry extra water, I just hate having anything on my back when biking 👍

That’s the key mate - take the bare essentials and if items can have multiple uses, even better (but allow room for a couple of luxuries!) 😁

A little idea to save water is to turn your frypan upside down over the fire and burn off the remnants.
Another great vid.
Thanks Simon
