I have been waiting for you to feature Prenton Park. It is a tidy ground and your pre-Taylor report photos bring back fond memories. Regarding the year that Tranmere was founded, now understood to be 1884, but in 1982 the club celebrated what it then believed was its centenary year. It produced a limited edition bone china centenary plate which I think must now have at least some novelty value. So far as I am aware it took many years for the club to realise that it was actually founded in 1884, two years later than was previously thought, and too late to mark its true centenary. Another great football archive video.
Thanks for uploading this as I requested it, I have supported Rovers from October 1974 (as my 2nd club) as I come from/live in Liverpool, L.F.C. were my first club. In 1990 Tranmere Rovers became my Only Club I was there in 1987 when we survived Relegation from The Football League. From 1988 to 1998 I missed three matches. I have so many Great Memories ... the two home League Cup Semi - Finals of 1993 and 2000 when we played Liverpool in 1979 League Cup game at P.P. drawing 0 - 0 and again in The F.A. Cup Quarter - Final ... L.F.C. were lucky to win 2 - 4 ... so many League Cup F.A Cup wins against Premier Clubs so many Play Off matches as well. Over The Years I have Learnt ONE THING ... Its League Points That Counts !!!.
You missed out on some of his football clubs ... John started in his local none league football club South Liverpool, then he went to Newport County, he went on to Oxford United, then he went to Liverpool, after playing for Real Sociedad he joined and served us very well ... at Tranmere Rovers
@@merseydave1 Thank you, Dave! I didn't know that... and a funny story... there was a local butcher and Real Sociedad supporter that as a present, gave him an ox steak for every goal scored...
Been to see Sunderland 4 times including the Clint Hill game. No away wins yet. Nice ground, decent parking and disappointing to see Tranmere doing so badly this season.
@historyoffootball87 I live half a mile away from Prenton Park. Did you know that during the European game between Rangers and Shelborne, that a Rangers fan climbed onto the roof of the Bebington kop and fell off.
@@historyoffootball87 Yes its fine ... local and regional government want to re-generate another part of The Wirral (Poulton) a new stadium is part of the project. With the sale of the land of Prenton Park, Tranmere Rovers would be able to contribute to the stadium and use it.
I prefer standing at games, but now they have introduced safe standing and all that, I like that idea. I recently went to St Helens on my Rugby League channel and we have safe standing/terraces.

Nice looking ground!
I think it is a very decent stadium.

It did say they got fined 25,000 Swiss Francs by UEFA over that.
used to work security for tranmere, not a bad stadium, fans are very passionate, see me in a few tranmere videos sitting behind the KOP goal
Looks a decent stadium to be fair
We may be moving soon to Poulton within The Wirral.
Is Prenton Park not up to standards anymore?

What are your on the Taylor report banning standing/terraces?
Not sure what you mean by that?
@@historyoffootball87 what are your thoughts I meant to say

Stood and sat in Borough Road (JK Stand). Standing was more fun even though the football was mostly terrible.
