Portugal Euro 2016 | The Worst Champions Ever
Portugal Euro 2016 | The Worst Champions Ever
Today I do a video on Portugal's Euro 2016 campaign where they won the tournament, however over the years some critics have described them as being the worst team to ever to win a major tournament. I look back at their 2016 success and come up with my own opinion.

Definitely there canny lucky overall it's almost like it's an ideal political result them winning a lot haha
Thanks for watching. Surprisingly some people mentioned Italy being the worst team to win the Euros.
Enjoyed learning about this stadium.
Thanks for watching the video
Another great upload 👌👍✔️
Thanks for watching again
Great work again . Field Mill seems to be virtually unknown outside the area. I was travelling up to Barnsley to support Oxford one December many years ago. The match was postponed and many fans from various clubs headed for Mansfield as their game was still on . There were many accents and scarves of all colours in a pub near the ground . Of course , at 2:30 the was match called off ... and the pub continued to serve !
Thanks for watching the video. I think people in England would know about it but outside of England probably not.
What an Interesting Vlog, I've never been to Mansfield's ground, I didn't know the nickname was The Stags
Thanks for watching the video
good video mate, there isn’t much information about the knights around. there are another two defunct clubs from the a league, gold coast united and north queensland fury (video ideas) should make this into a series 👍🏼
Thanks for watching. Gold Coast United still exist in some capacity I think. North Queensland Fury I believe went defunct only recently.
Great Video! I can't say I had heard of the club before this video! Nice job!
Thanks for watching Archivist Athletica
I spent a lot of time in here in my teens getting copper wire lmao.
You would have made a bit of money then like.
Loved the old girl but we needed to move. Sir John had a vision for the club and knew we had to modernise, and while the Madejski isn't exactly loved in wider football circles it was the only viable site for the club. But Elm Park holds fond memories for me on the South Bank (which you refer to as the Tilehurst Terrace). Thanks for the video 😊
Thanks for watching the video. I still call it the Madejski and I cannot bring myself to call it the Select Car Loans stadium or whatever it is now.
They were basically no more than a village team financed by mr doc martens- max Griggs. When he pulled out the inevitable demise happened.
They are not the only team like that as well. I did a video about Gretna around two month ago and they were another small team propped up by a big spender and soon as he wasn't in the picture they went under.
Due to sharing the ground with the cricket club, we had to rearrange our home games at the start and end of the season.
That would have been a carry on.
A good video ruined by elevator music. Not needed, real life does not require backing music, and it masks your narative.
As long as you enjoyed the content of the video minus the music then that is what really matters.
I fell through the the roof
Never in this world
Love this channel the history of foot all is intertwined with social history after ww2 it's class to see none are forgotten
Thank You for watching the videos
I like this channel! The stuff you cover is interesting and often unusual. Just subscribed and very pleased to hear that you are a bluenose, like me👍🏼 Thanks for what you are doing and please keep doing it.
Thanks for watching and subscribing. I try to do videos on things nobody else does.
I like your vlogs about Historical league clubs, it doesn't matter to me what age the are, I find them interesting, this is Choppy in Whitehaven, Cumbria, England
Thanks for continuing to watch the videos.
Crewe not very often you hear of them. I don’t think they ever had won a league only some smaller cups, but they once had a manager that coached the team for many many years
They have never won a league title before in any division that is correct. They had Gradi as manager for a very long time. I think he is banned for life from football now.
@@historyoffootball87thanks for the information. I read more about him at Wikipedia and that was new info for me
A LOndoner visiting my grandparents in Chester as a kid I wne there on my own, walking about two miles. Fighting relegation I had never witnessed atmosphere like it and became a fan. Best game I watched was when we beat Port Vale in the Debenhams Cup Final. Current ground is sadly no comparison, though a giant stand behind the goal could transfrom it...Duke Of Westminster please consider. The Westminster Stand.
Thanks for watching the video and commenting
I was a regular at Blundell Park in the early '70s when Lawrie Mcmenemy was manager before he went on to manage Southampton. We used to go in the old Barret Stand which was an old wooden structure (always thought it to be a fire hazard)). Couple of memories.....of a glorious winter's day in February 1972 walked to the ground along the sea front.....come five to three the sea mist rolled over the main stand....several attempts to get the game vs Exeter City going but eventually had to be abandoned. We left the ground and walked 50 yards inland...still a glorious winter' afternoon.... The final game of that season in May 1972 was the replayed match vs Exeter City which Grimsby Town won 3-0 and Grimsby took the 4th Division title in front of over 22,000 fans. We were in the Pontoon stand that night.
Some good memories there like
Very nice video! Thank you! BTW- R.Oviedo is in the playoff final!!
Thank You for watching. Good luck in the final.
@@historyoffootball87 Thank you very much!!
❤❤
My adopted dad always took me to these games. It was the best atmosphere ever. Even the darlington under 5s spray lads football team had a go.
Thanks for watching the video.
You know my clubs record home crowd ,involved wolves in 60s when there was 41,000 at Bloomfield road ,we used to have a fairly big kop then we're north stand is now ,what brought up our decent capacity utmp .
I recently did a video on Bloomfield Road about a week ago.
@@historyoffootball87 yeah I saw it mate thanks .
Nice presentation mate .
Thanks for watching the video.
Good fans and very good away following for size of club ,I remember early 90 s they came over to blackpool fc ,Tuesday night match it's not super long way ,but in my experience bringing between 1,600 to 1,800 midweek night match is quality .
Do you think Germany is cooked at the Euros?
I think Germany look OK going into the tournament. They have a good team and are the host nation. Host nations usually do well at their own tournament.
@@historyoffootball87 well I mean Germany has lost friendlies in the past also are Kroos and Reus still playing in the euros?
@ArgentinaFan76 Kroos is in the squad, Reus isn't.
I watched Bristol city win the cup v st mirron
That would have been good to see.
I love the old black and white photos you found on this classic ground. I know it is still full of character and that Grimsby Town has a loyal fan base. Definitely one to visit on the groundhopping map!
Thanks for watching the video. There were not many photos of Blundell Park from the old days. They were the only two that I could find.
My father is a huge Juve fan.⚪️⚫️ I personally always loved the stadium 🏔🏟and I didn't like how they transformed it into a small compact square shaped stadium. ⬛⚽️😐🤌
I haven't seen too many people on here that liked the Delle Alpi.
❤❤
Donny had some great players that have played at Belle Vue. Peter Doherty and the great Alick Jeffries to name a few.
Thanks for watching the video
Great work about a stadium which is not so known but at least hosted premier league football
Thanks for watching Kulla1berg
Anderlecht de 76 à 78 était très fort. Supérieur au Bayern et à Liverpool. J'ai vu aussi le vrai Chelsea, celui de 1971 : remarquable équipe.
Merci d'avoir regardé la vidéo.
Thanks for this video - I also spent several afternoons at the Dell in the 1950s. have been a Saints supporter ever since. For what it's worth (not much) I also successfully completed my driving test outside the Dell in 1958!.
Thanks for watching the video and commenting. It is much appreciated.
Still got my seat from the last match 🥰 love the dell
Thanks for watching the video
Great work once again . I am sure you are sick of hearing it -- but the grounds were better years ago .And affordable .
Thank You for watching O'Pagoda Swirling.
Another Great Video dude!
Thanks for watching Archivist Athletica
Was always a big away day back in the day Blackpool isn't the same in 2024
Thanks for watching. It is a town in decline unfortunately like a lot of seaside towns.
Spent many a happy Saturday afternoon in the mid-late 'sixties standing on the duckboards running down the open side of the ground. Once a Cobbler always a Cobbler.
Thank you for watching the video
It looks very strange with stands on three sides and they will play in the championship next season
In the past they have tried to build a fourth stand and the owner of the stadium who is the previous owner of the club has blocked it or made it really hard to do anything. Their lease at the stadium ends in 2026.
I loved that place
