The other thing they do is deep breath to help decrease the adrenaline they are experiencing. I watch a lot of these video and have a great deal of respect for our traffic cops. So true. He was humble in the way that he handled himself. He was calm, respectful in the way that he gave non conflicting instructions. When it became common law to have body cams/dash cams & release them to the public for transparency- I think many, like myself, felt in some way that it would only be to catch the corrupt cops in action mostly during situations that one seriously "had to be there" to understand. And, yes, they have helped in those situations tremendously. What I don't think I ever expected, was the degree in which we can see all of these on YT- seeing the footage that should be seen just as importantly- ..THIS. Officers who do the job with the upmost professionalism, respect and courage. To see all these types of videos here, I have gained an even greater appreciation for the job. It used to be, you rarely saw these amazing people in action and only heard of their excellent performance on the job if they won a medal or were part of a big case, then published in the news. Getting to see the real scope of what these officers do day to day and the insane situations they engage in to protect the people. Respect!
I'm good with transparency to keep people accountable. I have a problem with the people who take the dash cam, body cam and whatever cam they have and post only the things they want people to see. Many times, it exposes only the actions of the cop that look wrong to paint a false picture. I'm not referring to bad cops. I'm referring to painting a false narrative that leads to further societal decay.
Cameras aren't common law, there are still lots of departments not using them or "forgetting them". They should be, but they aren't. It's more than likely "department policy" to wear them. At most they'd get a reprimand and or paid vacation for not wearing one. Still catch plenty of tyrannical small town cops enforcing their own little dictatorships and violating the oath they swore to the constitution.

@@philipcarr92You need to watch some videos of Arkansas State troopers in action. They end these kinds of pursuits very quickly and if the criminals fire at them they immediately take appropriate action. They aren’t required to ask permission.
How the troopers car hit the rear tire of the truck and bounced up and off of it and still remained functioning and drivable is a true testament to the durability of both vehicles.
I'd like to know whatever happened to those Grappler devices that tangle up the rear tires and sometimes the driveshaft. Cop cars should have guns mounted in the grill so police can shoot back while driving.

They passed one Motorcycle, luckily they were on the off-ramp coming down so I don't think the suspect saw them. But it would've been bad if they did and decided to hit them.

You said it brother. I’ve been arrested like 5 times in my 20s and doing some wild shit too… but every time I got caught it was “yes sir, sorry sir.” And I shut my mouth and was polite. It went a LONG way with arresting officers and judges. I always flipped that switch. People with nothing to lose and with no more “get out of jail free cards” are the ones who wild out, see red and wind up face down shot by cops complaining about how they “can’t breath” - pulling every last stunt they can to avoid prison. Then some just force the cops to kill em.

When he first asked for what the minimum speed at which he is allowed to do a PIT and was told by the supervisor that he had to stop him no matter what and he answered *_OK,..._* from that point on he realized that it was about his life, because at that point the suspect was still trying to shoot him. He constantly tried to calm himself down, taking deep breaths, because he knew that it meant damn serious business! I can't even imagine how you get through something like that without getting atleast 3 days off afterwards.
And he may have. I work in a similar environment. (Where these maniacs are going to spend hopefully the rest of their lives. When we have an incident generally officers do take a day or two off. Blowing off self-care like tough TV cops is idiotic. It leads to the highly publicised problem cops we have today.
This is a deadly force situation so any speed is sufficient. When I was twaching EVOC and PIT any speed over 40mph is a use of deadly force. Obviously speeds over 40 here is 100% justified. Also if they had PID at the rest area the officers couldve shot him when he tried to flee.

He was low-level panicked the whole time. You can hear how shaky his voice was at multiple points and how he nearly took himself out at 7:31. What he wasn't was hysterical, but he was very much showing slight panic. I can't blame him for fearing for his own mortality, but saying he wasn't panicked is discounting his actual care and fear for his own life.

This was the most outstanding chase I’ve watched. All police departments worked together to keep this horrible person on the interstate away from exiting into neighborhoods. Blocking the exit ramps was absolutely genius. All officers involved in this pursuit need a months paid vacation in paradise! The citizens in this location are extremely lucky to have such outstanding officers to keep them safe. I live in NW PA, so proud to have such outstanding officers as neighbors ♥️👮♂️♥️

From a retired officer’s point of view, we understand that some people freeze and don’t know what to do when they see us behind them. It’s irritating, but it’s the nature of some people. When you’re traveling at 120 or more, they don’t see or hear you until you’re right behind them sometimes, and they panic. You’d think seeing a vehicle, fleeing ahead of us, go around them at the same speeds would be enough for people to understand what is going on and what they need to do, but sometimes they just don’t. Going around someone, on the right, is an anomaly for us. That’s for the safety of the civilians. Some of the dumbest driving I’ve ever seen was when I was running hot down the interstate. I’ve seen people drive at high speeds into the median. I’ve seen people speed up and drive 120 also, which made me wonder why, but I didn’t have time for them because the original call I was responding to took priority. I’ve seen people crash. I’ve seen people just stop right in the middle of the road. I love people, but some of them are either stupid, ignorant, or just panic and don’t respond reasonably. It’s rarely done on purpose, and if you looked them all up and ticketed the driver, it wouldn’t change a thing. I did have a trooper ticket the one that drove 120 in front of me, however. She was still in my way. I was driving 140 before she slowed me down. I didn’t drive quite that fast often.
This is the sort of chase where you have someone with you and you shoot back at them...fuck the "but they fleeing" excuse. They shoot at you, shoot back at them
I think deadly force should have been authorized even before that. Anytime anyone flees from the police it's such a high rate of speed and so recklessly that they endanger the lives of everyone else on the road.
They don’t do it for safety. I mean let’s be honest the risk of hitting someone innocent is pretty high. You’re not going to be accurate shooting out of a moving vehicle. It’s also a liability issue.

Talk about one hell of a ride. I will give the first Trooper in the Leed credit he was doing everything he could. But I could tell he was definitely the leery of getting too close after they started shooting. I love the Troopers response on the first real attempt. My older brother was a Michigan state trooper. I remember he was one the arrest officers, back in the early 90's where a man committed 2 murders in Ohio then drove in to Michigan killed the first person he saw, so he can face trial in Michigan spending his life in prison, that way he wont get tried in Ohio because they have the death penalty.
He asked for mercy and for them to be careful, unreal. Officers showed a lot of restraint to not just end it all with a few shots. I dont agree with how long this actually took. Had plenty of opportunities to pit him early, especially when he tried to make other drivers panic and swerve in front of police.
As long as the jobs done safely they controlled the situation as much as they could they couldn’t just stop him he was being shot at they waited for the opportunity and they stopped him and got the suspect in cuffs ALIVE and in what it seemed to be stable condition great job troops
Did you watch the video? He shot at the cop at least three times. PIT maneuver requires you to actually make contact with his truck. There was two people in the truck. The passenger could have shot him during the PIT.
I thought all those exits the police were blocking and he drove fairly close to them if they had spike stops out they would have got him long before the lengthy chase

Pay attention to the P.I.T avoidance move that the pickup kept doing. Every time the trooper tried to pit he would swerve toward the pit. In turn shifting the weight of the vehicle towards the pit.
Cop is poorly trained. U don't drive up close to a vehicle shooting at you unless you have A PLAN. Either shoot at him or hang behind and wait for another opening. Cop is very lucky.

I’m from Michigan and I have to drive I 75 both north and south to winter in Florida every year, much respect for the OSP. God bless them, I can tell you the drivers in Ohio respect the laws much more so than other states. And that is due to the OSP always visible 👍🏻
I don’t commend cops often, but the main officer in this situation deserves the highest honor possible, and should be the model for how all police should act. He was in a high risk life and death situation and not once did he yell, raise his voice, yell profanity at the suspect, and actually treated him with some degree of respect. He was calm and courteous and kept the situation from getting out of hand. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a video of a cop in that situation that didn’t act all move an inch and I’ll blow you away Gung-ho like. I really think he kept a bad situation from getting much worse. He should be a shining example for every cop in America how to conduct themselves. Seems like he’s one off the good ones. That’s saying a lot with some of the police we have I’m our country. Good job sir! I hope you set an example.

I just retired from public safety as a Firefighter Paramedic and every cop I have ever worked with has been respectful and fair treating everyone as equally as possible . The yelling sometimes is necessary and cussing well news flash it’s not just cops who cuss or yell. I have had to take care of many patients who were suspects in crimes ( they did the crime just suspected at the time) and had to cuss or yell at them. Some people are ignorant kinda like yourself and/or don’t listen ,don’t care and think they can do whatever they or however they want. LEOs have an extremely hard job, when shit like this goes down they are making split second decisions much like myself or my colleagues do/did because that split second decision may mean life or death for either person in an officers case. So,unless you do/did work as LEO I highly suggest you watch and/or read a different newspaper. 99% of LEO are coming to work praying their shift is peaceful and without incident much like someone in my field does. If you think all cops are the same holy hell you are out of touch and haven’t a clue to the realities of a cop.
I saw the NC highway patrol doing driving training. They shut down a section of interstate that went into a cloverleaf. They would come into the cloverleaf at 100mph and those cars stuck the entire turn that’s when I knew there’s no way in hell you’re ever getting away. Let alone the radios and air assets. But the ballsiest thing was each car had an instructor in it and would tell the driver gas, gas, little brake, gas and they acted like it was nothing just a normal day. I’d been scared shitless they was gonna wreck at that speed

I drive this section often at this time of night with my family. Thank you Ohio State Troopers for keeping us safe!
When it became common law to have body cams/dash cams & release them to the public for transparency- I think many, like myself, felt in some way that it would only be to catch the corrupt cops in action mostly during situations that one seriously "had to be there" to understand. And, yes, they have helped in those situations tremendously. What I don't think I ever expected, was the degree in which we can see all of these on YT- seeing the footage that should be seen just as importantly- ..THIS. Officers who do the job with the upmost professionalism, respect and courage. To see all these types of videos here, I have gained an even greater appreciation for the job.
It used to be, you rarely saw these amazing people in action and only heard of their excellent performance on the job if they won a medal or were part of a big case, then published in the news. Getting to see the real scope of what these officers do day to day and the insane situations they engage in to protect the people. Respect!

I'm good with transparency to keep people accountable. I have a problem with the people who take the dash cam, body cam and whatever cam they have and post only the things they want people to see. Many times, it exposes only the actions of the cop that look wrong to paint a false picture. I'm not referring to bad cops. I'm referring to painting a false narrative that leads to further societal decay.

Cameras aren't common law, there are still lots of departments not using them or "forgetting them". They should be, but they aren't. It's more than likely "department policy" to wear them. At most they'd get a reprimand and or paid vacation for not wearing one.
Still catch plenty of tyrannical small town cops enforcing their own little dictatorships and violating the oath they swore to the constitution.

How the troopers car hit the rear tire of the truck and bounced up and off of it and still remained functioning and drivable is a true testament to the durability of both vehicles.

I'd like to know whatever happened to those Grappler devices that tangle up the rear tires and sometimes the driveshaft. Cop cars should have guns mounted in the grill so police can shoot back while driving.

My Dad was an Ohio State Patrolman for 25 years. God rest his soul….all the stuff he saw in a lifetime, I cant image.. I have so much Respect for these officers. He said the worst was coming upon car accidents with children deceased. That was hard to take. Bless all good Cops.

They passed one Motorcycle, luckily they were on the off-ramp coming down so I don't think the suspect saw them. But it would've been bad if they did and decided to hit them.

You said it brother. I’ve been arrested like 5 times in my 20s and doing some wild shit too… but every time I got caught it was “yes sir, sorry sir.” And I shut my mouth and was polite. It went a LONG way with arresting officers and judges. I always flipped that switch.
People with nothing to lose and with no more “get out of jail free cards” are the ones who wild out, see red and wind up face down shot by cops complaining about how they “can’t breath” - pulling every last stunt they can to avoid prison. Then some just force the cops to kill em.

When he first asked for what the minimum speed at which he is allowed to do a PIT and was told by the supervisor that he had to stop him no matter what

He constantly tried to calm himself down, taking deep breaths, because he knew that it meant damn serious business!
I can't even imagine how you get through something like that without getting atleast 3 days off afterwards.

This is a deadly force situation so any speed is sufficient. When I was twaching EVOC and PIT any speed over 40mph is a use of deadly force. Obviously speeds over 40 here is 100% justified. Also if they had PID at the rest area the officers couldve shot him when he tried to flee.

He was low-level panicked the whole time. You can hear how shaky his voice was at multiple points and how he nearly took himself out at 7:31. What he wasn't was hysterical, but he was very much showing slight panic. This was the most outstanding chase I’ve watched. All police departments worked together to keep this horrible person on the interstate away from exiting into neighborhoods. Blocking the exit ramps was absolutely genius. All officers involved in this pursuit need a months paid vacation in paradise!
The citizens in this location are extremely lucky to have such outstanding officers to keep them safe. I live in NW PA, so proud to have such outstanding officers as neighbors ♥️👮♂️♥️

From a retired officer’s point of view, we understand that some people freeze and don’t know what to do when they see us behind them. It’s irritating, but it’s the nature of some people. When you’re traveling at 120 or more, they don’t see or hear you until you’re right behind them sometimes, and they panic. You’d think seeing a vehicle, fleeing ahead of us, go around them at the same speeds would be enough for people to understand what is going on and what they need to do, but sometimes they just don’t. Going around someone, on the right, is an anomaly for us. That’s for the safety of the civilians. Some of the dumbest driving I’ve ever seen was when I was running hot down the interstate. I’ve seen people drive at high speeds into the median. I’ve seen people speed up and drive 120 also, which made me wonder why, but I didn’t have time for them because the original call I was responding to took priority. I’ve seen people crash. I’ve seen people just stop right in the middle of the road. I love people, but some of them are either stupid, ignorant, or just panic and don’t respond reasonably. It’s rarely done on purpose, and if you looked them all up and ticketed the driver, it wouldn’t change a thing. I did have a trooper

I think deadly force should have been authorized even before that. Anytime anyone flees from the police it's such a high rate of speed and so recklessly that they endanger the lives of everyone else on the road.
They don’t do it for safety. I mean let’s be honest the risk of hitting someone innocent is pretty high. You’re not going to be accurate shooting out of a moving vehicle. It’s also a liability issue.

My older brother was a Michigan state trooper. I remember he was one the arrest officers, back in the early 90's where a man committed 2 murders in Ohio then drove in to Michigan killed the first person he saw, so he can face trial in Michigan spending his life in prison, that way he wont get tried in Ohio because they have the death penalty.

He asked for mercy and for them to be careful, unreal. Officers showed a lot of restraint to not just end it all with a few shots. I dont agree with how long this actually took. Had plenty of opportunities to pit him early, especially when he tried to make other drivers panic and swerve in front of police.
As long as the jobs done safely they controlled the situation as much as they could they couldn’t just stop him he was being shot at they waited for the opportunity and they stopped him and got the suspect in cuffs ALIVE and in what it seemed to be stable condition great job troops
Did you watch the video? He shot at the cop at least three times. PIT maneuver requires you to actually make contact with his truck. There was two people in the truck. The passenger could have shot him during the PIT.
I thought all those exits the police were blocking and he drove fairly close to them if they had spike stops out they would have got him long before the lengthy chase

I’m from Michigan and I have to drive I 75 both north and south to winter in Florida every year, much respect for the OSP. God bless them, I can tell you the drivers in Ohio respect the laws much more so than other states. And that is due to the OSP always visible 👍🏻

I don’t commend cops often, but the main officer in this situation deserves the highest honor possible, and should be the model for how all police should act. He was in a high risk life and death situation and not once did he yell, raise his voice, yell profanity at the suspect, and actually treated him with some degree of respect. He was calm and courteous and kept the situation from getting out of hand. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a video of a cop in that situation that didn’t act all move an inch and I’ll blow you away Gung-ho like. I really think he kept a bad situation from getting much worse. He should be a shining example for every cop in America how to conduct themselves. Seems like he’s one off the good ones. That’s saying a lot with some of the police we have I’m our country. Good job sir! I hope you set an example.

This is the most ignorant comment I think I have ever read on UA-cam! I just retired from public safety as a Firefighter Paramedic and every cop I have ever worked with has been respectful and fair treating everyone as equally as possible . The yelling sometimes is necessary and cussing well news flash it’s not just cops who cuss or yell. I have had to take care of many patients who were suspects in crimes ( they did the crime just suspected at the time) and had to cuss or yell at them. Some people are ignorant kinda like yourself and/or don’t listen ,don’t care and think they can do whatever they or however they want. LEOs have an extremely hard job, when shit like this goes down they are making split second decisions much like myself or my colleagues do/did because that split second decision may mean life or death for either person in an officers case. So,unless you do/did work as LEO I highly suggest you watch and/or read a different newspaper. 99% of LEO are coming to work praying their shift is peaceful and without incident much like someone in my field does. If you think all cops are the same holy hell you are out of touch and haven’t a clue to the realities of a cop.

I saw the NC highway patrol doing driving training. They shut down a section of interstate that went into a cloverleaf. They would come into the cloverleaf at 100mph and those cars stuck the entire turn that’s when I knew there’s no way in hell you’re ever getting away. Let alone the radios and air assets. But the ballsiest thing was each car had an instructor in it and would tell the driver gas, gas, little brake, gas and they acted like it was nothing just a normal day. I’d been scared shitless they was gonna wreck at that speed

NCSHP has a closed course driver training facility off E. Tryon Rd in Raleigh where they learn to drive long before they get to the Interstate Highway training.

When I realized that officer who spun out was trying to catch up........the speed he must have been traveling made my haert skip a beat or two. Tells his buddies, "yeah, I'm fine, I'm coming, I"ll catch up" oh my goodness and so calm about it! I'm sitting trying to carch my breath and calm my heart down and he's just chill. That's a real trooper!
Its just amazing how calm he was the whole time
