Intense High Speed Sheriff Pursuit Ends With PIT Maneuver in Marion County, Florida

Micanopy, Florida - Deputy Shon McGuigan was monitoring traffic in the area of I-75 and County Road 234 in Micanopy when he observed a gold Chevy Suburban plow through the stop sign coming off the interstate turning right onto County Road 234. The vehicle struck a curb and drove into the oncoming lane of traffic on County Road 234, and then began fleeing from Deputy McGuigan when he activated his lights and siren. The route of the pursuit began in the parking lot of Café Risque, turned onto County Road 234, where the suspect threw a Terrapin Cryosphere alcoholic beverage out the window. The suspect turned southbound on 441, first driving southbound in the northbound lanes before transitioning back to the correct side of the road.
He reached speeds of 100 miles per hour in a construction zone all while giving Deputy McGuigan the middle finger. Deputy McGuigan first tried to PIT Richardson’s vehicle several times when the suspect’s speeds were lower and did finally execute a PIT maneuver, causing Richardson to spin out in the median, but Richardson was able drive away, heading back northbound on 441, intentionally ramming Deputy McGuigan’s vehicle at least twice. Deputy Dasher deployed stop sticks unsuccessfully, and other law enforcement joined the pursuit, including FHP, Deputy Bryan Jones and Deputy Jasper Stephenson. The pursuit continued onto Cholokka Boulevard in Micanopy and finally back southbound on 441. Deputy Stephenson was finally able to initiate another PIT maneuver which was successful.
Deputy McGuigan made contact with the vehicle, and Richardson again, tried to drive away, but FHP and deputies Jones and Stephenson all pinned the vehicle in and apprehended Mr. Richardson without incident. Further investigation revealed that Richardson was a suspect in an identical incident in Marion County earlier in the day involving the Marion County Sheriff’s Office and FHP. Also, Mr. Richardson is on probation in Citrus County for DUI and Fleeing and Eluding Law Enforcement. His license had previously been revoked. He is charged with Fleeing and Eluding Law Enforcement, Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, Driving While License Suspended/Revoked, Reckless Driving and Citrus County has also advised they will be filing a violation of probation charges.

The drug police of Helsinki was running the biggest drug rings in the country. In Russia chase like this happens every day somewhere in the federated states. And even though guns are illegal there, there is as much gun violence as in the USA. Plus USA is one of the larges counties (well federations) in the world. So statistically it's not that often as you think.

@@benrosenberg3489 Pretty entertained for the most part. The traffic control crew is the only ones responsible for the cones. But large trucks and 18 wheelers knock the cones over quite frequently. So it’s a usual part of the job anyway.

Ya, I prefer all the footage played instead of just the action myself. PA always did that in the early years. Think it got to be a numbers game when donations started coming in and shorter vids sold better. Don't begrudge him it. He was demonitized for a long time and not taking donations but still pumping out vids. Early on when he used to comment he seemed a pretty good guy to me.

One thing that I realized about the purpose of arresting someone with a suspended license is that those people have obviously been involved in accidents in the past, which resulted in revoking of the license and probably even a cancellation of insurance, so they are a very dangerous driver if they keep causing these problems, and it's up to the police to do their hardest at stopping these reckless drivers to prevent them from hitting anyone, because the risk of car accidents is high, and it should be combatted with the strongest efforts.
He stopped getting cocky and flipping the officer off pretty quick after that first PIT attempt. I don't think he was expecting that. 😂

I live in this area, and I'm just thankful that none of the construction crews were injured during this pursuit, like their job isn't already difficult enough without worrying about getting hit by felons like this....
Here in Denmark, going over the speed limit near construction crews means, you will get the hammer. Also we have a new traffic law called, insanity drivers. As a state roads worker, I remember seeing a chase once. It amazed me how many times a car can flip and roll. The speeding ticket ended up with a lot more charges.

BlueRibbon I don't believe it had anything to do with ego. I think he was letting the other officers know that this guy is doing this defiantly and has no intention of stopping. Therefore, alerting them of a long and possibly aggressive pursuit (towards officers) as opposed to someone simply trying to flee the scene.
