Thank you for the mention! Ye, the paintjob looks really fun! And it convinced me to try cel shading in the future as well - especially on anime characters. Thanks!
This Video took so many hours to make, I had to learn so many things about editing and the process of creating videos for UA-cam. I really tried my best on this one, so thank you for watching and if you would like to support me, any like or subscription would be greatly appreciated!
I don’t know if someone’s commented, but acrylic ink would be fantastic for this - I use Daler Rowney ink, and it’s so good for black lining I love what you’ve done to the mini, really nice work :)
@@MiniQuest64 Super kind words, honestly, that's appreciated :D If you check out Epic Duck Studios, that's where I got the tip from. Daler Rowney black acrylic ink, I just checked. It feels like cheating haha
Wonderful work, you mentioned the right brush or pen. I’m an artist but when it comes to painting with a brush, I’m not too great. Which pens would you recommend for this type of project?
Thank you very much for saying that! So if you're searching for a good brush, I would recommend size 1 Winsor & Newton Series 7, davinci nova synthetic/kolinksy (also size 1). If you're a beginner, I would favor synthetic brushes, they get the job done, and you won't be too mad if they break. For pens, I use a Faber-Castell set with "8 Pitt Artist Pens" , which is pigmented India ink. Hope that helps, thank you for the watch! =)
While I do think it would kinda help to show the light source, I prefer to take pictures with a mini primed black. I don't think it would muddy the Contrast though, it just feels like an unnecessary extra step to me with no real benefits!
Hey Gaara! Thank you for watching the video and leaving a comment!! Awesome! I put the link in the video description, the mini is from nom nom figures :)
Look now I don't want to start a UA-camr beef but... Did you really record a video on cel shading wearing a mutant ninja turtles top and then paint ... Link Super works 😁
Listen Sam, I have a whole box full of unpainted tmnt minis and when the time is right, I will make a video about them that will cowabunga so hard, you'll choke on your pizza! :D

Quick question, would a zenithal highlight over the black help for show the light source reference or would that muddy the contrast?
While I do think it would kinda help to show the light source, I prefer to take pictures with a mini primed black.
I don't think it would muddy the Contrast though, it just feels like an unnecessary extra step to me with no real benefits!
Thanks for your quick reply!
I really loved your video and it’s super helpful!

Personally I think i'd stop before the blacklining
Sounds reasonable!
Good work but, ... I will never ever try this.
