I would love to see a Banjo Kazooie Diorama. I think the Gruntilda boss would be so cool having Banjo just dodge the green spell that she fires at you during the fight as the Jinjonator is rising from the ground
Honestly I think the end result looked much cool than if the resin pour had turned out as intended - Like you said, looks much more like whitewater rapids! That said, for any future resin pour projects you may have in mind where you actually do need that crystal clear finish, I've always heard others that work with resin say that one of the important really important things to get right is heat management. The reaction between resin and hardener gives off heat and the more resin you pour at once, the hotter the pour will get. This can even result in submerged plastic mini's melting. So the trick is to either get more specialized "deep pour" resins that are formulated to have slower exothermic heat buildup so you dont end up with it looking like your resin is mid boil or alternatively, you can use a more general resin, but instead of doing one big pour where you dish out the full amount all at once, you instead limit yourself to doing like 2cm of resin at a time, letting each interaction fully cure, before adding in the next layer. This way you never have enough actively hardening resin to reach that critical mass where it'll start boiling/cracking/melting plastic/etc. The downside of this approach is that it'll take you much longer to complete the resin portion of your project. And should you go for the several pours approach, I've heard that it's helpful to measure out how much resin and hardener you'll need for the entire project, then to add any coloring you might want to just the resin portion (making sure to account for the fact that i'll get lighter in color when you mix in hardener). That way you can ensure that each pour and subsequently, layer of resin, ends up with the same color as opposed to having to try and color match each individual pour which usual results in a more noticeable layers due each one being slightly different. Oh and if you go for the deep pour resin approach, still be careful to check out the specifications because even deep pour resins might still be limited to something like 2inch pours at a time. Anyways, hope that advice proves to be useful to you sometime down the road. Never done a resin pour myself, but have seen countless content creators share their woes and eventual triumphs using the stuff. Hopefully this might let you skip some of the trial and error phase (and save some money on failed resin pours in the process). Wishing you all the best and can't wait to see what you make next!
WOW! For someone not actually using epoxy resin, you seem to be quite informed! Awesome =) The info with the coloring is pure gold, didn't think about this possibility and will use it for sure!
