I absolutely love this project and you did such a stunning job with it. I’ve seen some other cell shading videos and they didn’t plan it out as well with the various degrees of shading for each color and I think this is a really awesome tutorial video. It does seem like quite a complicated painting technique but definitely one that pays off in the end. I may try to learn this and I think I would actually use blender to try to create the cell shading reference to then work from. Great job I hope to see more videos like this.
Thanks so much. I’m glad you enjoyed it. Cel Shade isn’t difficult but some people miss the premise of the foundations. I’m actually planning on doing another cel shade project where I go in more detail to help. This technique just takes practice. Thanks again for the kind words and comment.
Love the way that came out. I agree it seems like a lot of work but the end result makes it seem soooooo worth it. Can’t wait to try this technique. Thanks as always
I just watched this video this morning. Also hey thank you for this video along with the previous one!!! This is just what I needed for my next project 😎
Excellent tutorial, well explained!! Is there an app that helps create o generate the color reference for the cel shade? For example in a 2d drawing or picture.
Hello, I love what you do. Your explanations, your calm, your tips and tricks are great. You branch out by staying in everything related to printing and painting figurines. Honestly number one people to follow. Too bad we're not neighbors... ;-) ;-) Good luck.
Turned out great…way too advanced for me at this point, I’m just getting started…but maybe someday. I was able to find this model and may make an effort to paint it for a friend who’s a huge Mario fan.
hi. thanks. i would like to 3d print my 3d models and have a question. In terms of print quality and accuracy, is it always better to choose the lowest number of microns for 3D printing? Actually, I don't have a 3D printer yet and I want to use service providers. Is it better to choose 100 micron accuracy for 3D printing? or ...? thanks alot.
As always, that looks AWESOME! Can I ask, though... for the Koopa; wouldn't it have been easier to paint him completely white first, them do the yellow and then the green? But... dude.. you are way too talented!
I like to put a matt lacquer over everything just to give it a little bit of protection. Would rather scratch and have to reapply the lacquer than the paint.
PLEASE: can you normalize your audio, when you edit your videos, or just talking the same distance from your microphone?! Every one of your videos has some parts nearly to zero, and a few words later up to 100%. It's quite boring constantly increasing and lowering the audio level.......

Thanks Rob! Yeah it’s one of those things you gotta put the work in. But I find it relaxing and like to do it.

I’ll get to this point one day. Great work
Just takes time and practice! Painting is a skill not talent. I’m sure you can get there.
I just finished the video where you prepare the mario and this video pops immediately XD
😁 awesome hope you liked them. It was a fun project
for yellow prime in pink, awesome content by the way
That’s it I’m gonna print this and have a crack at it.
This cartoon painting style is super cool! Also your mustache is dope my guy!

Amazing vídeo
Thanks!
Dang this is dope.

Hiya dude I was just wondering what brand brushes do you use?
As always, that looks AWESOME! Can I ask, though... for the Koopa; wouldn't it have been easier to paint him completely white first, them do the yellow and then the green? But... dude.. you are way too talented!
I was going to ask the same thing.
Impresionante 👍🥇
I would rather say using Lacquer like Tamiya TS or Mr. Color Lacquer would be great to paint with.

WOW, this looks amazing, such a unique approach - this would look so cool with a toon link model!
Thanks so much!! It was a fun project.
Could you please leave a list of the colors used. I wrote down then paints you had in the beginning of the video . I did not see the ash grey.
Where can I buy the Mario model
are you related to Dickie Allen from InfantAnnihalator? xD
I've never seen a handsome eggman from Sonic Movie
Good job! Looks like crap until it’s done, must be pretty hard to figure out how it will look. Neat technique, not sure i’d be able to do it
Yeah. That’s the crazy thing with cel shade it never looks good until the last step.
How do you avoid brush marks. I hate brush marks!!!
Why do you look like a mr. steal of quadcopter racing?
your watch battery is dead... couldnt make out how much time it took for the whole thing..
Vallejo is pronounced VAH- YEH- HOH, with a harder H, not valet- hoe XD
