    I just sold my XSR900 and I will probably buy this beauty. Makers did not want to release this type of bikes because they have more profits with the bigger ones. A 350/400 cc bike makes a lot of sense, they are light, they are entertaining, have enough power to take you to the end of the world and they are economical.

      It is a brilliant bike for cost looks and the ride is honestly immense, I would like it even more with the cb500 engine, let me know if you you buy it and it's not the xsr900 to many good bike now👍👍👍

      Needs some Renthal "enduro bend" handle bars, some Michelin Anakee Wild motorcycle tyres, a set of folding mirrors and simple crash bars and then you'd have the latest "super cool" scrambler" and all for under four and a half grand!!

    Great bike but it's a Honda so no surprise there. Just goes to show you don't need to spend 25 grand on a new GS to have fun. These 350/400/500 bikes are so good these days and they are the future., my 451 Eliminator SE is just in this sweet spot.

    Great review, thanks for this no nonsense approach 👍. Honda have been a little late to the party with this bike. I remember seeing the H'ness 350 about five years ago and was disappointed it (or it's dervitives) weren't planned for the UK. I have a Classic 350 and love it. Small capacity bikes are making so much sense these days and are becoming more relevant than ever. I wish Honda every success with the GB350 and hope it sells well for them. Overall, it's great to have even more choice in this sector.
    The margins are small, but if this little bike means people are getting into their Honda dealers with the extra profit being delivered by way of sales of servicing, parts, accessories and clothing, this has to be a great thing overall too. We have lost far too many motorcycle dealers lately and the industry needs a boost no matter how.
    It's such a shame that the route to motorcycling for youngsters is so expensive and difficult. I honestly belive that bikes like these should be able to be ridden on a CBT licence at the age of 17. Also, a CBT should should be valid for longer than two years if you can prove you're riding regularly.

      Couldn't agree more, I'm old now but we didn't have cbt not saying it's a bad thing but I could ride a upto 250cc there was no limit, this bike will be brilliant for younger rider's but will they like the older retro look, sales will tell, I tend to think it will be the over 50s that buy it👍👍👍

      I am not sure a 350 would do well here. I started on a Yamaha V Star 650. Loved that bike, but learned that I did not like cruiser style bikes. But I do not remember the HP that Yamaha had, but it got me started and now do love my W800, but I would not want highway riding with that all the time. So a 350 would I guess be in the 25 HP range and limit a 20 mile stretch on a high way at 70 mph. I did do it on the Yamaha 25 years ago in New Jersey, but not sure with today's distractions, I would want to be on a 350. But around town, hell yes!😊

    The thing with the revometer (or lack thereof) is: aren't you supposed to keep the revs down on these sorts of bikes when they're new, to run them in? How do you do that when you don't know what the rev count is?

    • @birchwoodbiker
      @birchwoodbiker  7 днів тому

      You can tell when you ride them, it takes a lot to destroy a new engine, it's just not my bike and in the end someone will buy the demo, the green ecco light would help, but you can buy aftermarket revometres, I was watching a guy who done it on the CL500, the bike in honesty doesn't need it👍👍👍

    The switch gear looks far cheaper than that on the RE 350 bikes, the power is virtually the same but the build quality isn’t as good. Your Himalayan 411 had 24 bhp so it had more power not less. I don’t think this bike will be as hard to beat as your title suggests. I had a Meteor 350 Fireball which for my choice looks better than the Honda and sounds just as good.
    There’s a lot of choice out there now in the smaller capacity bike market from these lower powered bikes to the likes of the Triumph 400’s the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 or the Kawasaki 500 range (actually 451 cc). Even Harley Davidson have partnered with Indian manufacturer Hero to produce the XR440.
    I have a Kawasaki Eliminator 500se and it’s a great bike, lighter than the Honda with 46bhp so a bit more exciting.

    • @birchwoodbiker
      @birchwoodbiker  6 днів тому

      Well build quality many people are saying this the same with the exhaust been sub level, I can tell you for fact the GB is a better bike than the Himmy even though I really liked the bike, the difference with the GB to all of the Enfield range is weight, the GB350 is 178kg, and you feel that in performance, I do think the Honda switchgear isn't cheaper a lot of there bikes are using eco friendly components, which I agree may look different, where it will win overall is it will keep higher residuals, it's also cheaper than any of the Enfield's, I feel like I'm slating them but I'm not, for me it's great the options of choice and affordability, for me just like the Himmy if I bought it I wouldn't keep it, if it had the cb500 engine then yes, do appreciate your opinion, you have owned the bike⭐⭐⭐👍

    • @sergentcolon1
      @sergentcolon1 6 днів тому +1

      @ thanks for the reply, I previously owned a Himmy 411 and a 500efi Bullet so I’m very familiar with the Enfield’s . Their build quality has improved with each new model and the 350 bikes are built to a much better fit and finish than the older models. When I was looking to replace the Meteor I test rode the Guerrilla 450 and Triumph 400 (both great bikes) before settling on the Eliminator, it was more expensive but works out the same monthly payments on pcp. I think RE deserve credit for revolutionising the small bike market, I doubt we’d have the number of bikes available at this price point without them blazing the trail of value for money machines. I also have a Honda Dax 125 and that is a really fun little bike but new they cost the same as this GB350, the difference being they’re made in Thailand not India and are possibly a little higher build quality. I also had a CRF250l you mentioned on the dirt road and they are good bikes but very expensive now for Chinese bikes like the Voge 300 being very similar for far less money. I think a lot of the older manufacturers are going to have to drop prices to compete with far cheaper products from China and India especially as their build quality continues to improve.

      @ Yes 100% Honda doesn't have a choice 5 years ago no one would touch a Chinese Bike, it's great for us, I'll have to see if I can get a ride on the 350 RE you sound as bad as me I have to many bikes, the sad thing is it's the accountants ruling the build line now 👍👍👍

      If the suspension , bar risers & head light was updated on the Hunter it could compete with the Honda GB350s, which will cruise at 70mph and top at 80mph but that wasn’t a Euro5+ bike so we’ll see when they’re run in over 2000 miles.

    Shame about the mindnummingly boring paint jobs offered on the UK bikes, compared to the great colours in other countries. Other than that, it looks like a cracking bike....will give the Enfield J series engines a run for their money.

      There is definitely loads of fighting talk from the RE to the Honda now, I must get a ride on the 350 RE, but like I said in all my comments we will be the winners, the prices are coming down, and I do think the bikes are now looking better than ever👍👍👍

      Big Rodders in Ireland here. The dull uninspiring paint jobs on the UK model is a deal breaker for me. I’ll hold off in the hope that 2026 brings in paint options available in India, even though our bikes are made in Japan.

    I like it, but Honda have designed all the charm out of it, too much dull plastic. Royal Enfield kept all the old charm with their classic & bullet 350's, l'd feel like l was getting more bike for my £ with the RE. Also, the paint choices are all as dull as dish water, 1970's Honda CB schemes would have looked better.

      I haven't really looked at the Bullet, I'll have a look ans see, The problem is in 2025 bikes are built by accountants, the old CB350 I bet was heavier and all arround in todays money had more spent on it, the plastics and the exhaust I keep hearing they are naf but they have just changed with all the ecco friendly Hard one, all I can say I think the Honda will hold it's money much better than the Enfield, and the true old British weather will tell us the build quality, I will get a look at the bullet up close and try do a comparison in my view👍👍👍
