If you haven't checked out the video she recommended it's fascinating. He has his wife play games and watches where she gets tripped up by gaming language many of us internalized as children.
For real that Rasputin video about video game logic is SO good. I think he ended up following it up with 2 or 3 more as well. It's probably one of my favorite videos on this platform because as someone who has gamed my whole life I had never given a second thought to the language I learned from it
As a life long gamer, musician, and IT guy - the feelings you expressed around the 13 minute mark of feeling out of place or not belonging, are what I feel for anything active / athletic. While I'm making more an effort to be active than I used to - it's definitely my happy place or area of expertise. I am as much of a beginner (or noob to borrow gaming vocabulary) as you are to gaming. But as long we try, that's what matters. The key is for folks to be accepting of beginners, which I think your channel promotes constantly! :)
As a musician, and A cellist I'm my town and school orchestra. I'd love for you to become a professional musician in a month! I always play with 100/100 the sensitivity is always too slow and I need to do flick shots people find it hard but I dont tbh its pretty easy you just have to be careful lol
No one should underestimate how impressive that was. As a complete rookie in your first tournament against professional gamers, that was mad impressive
Not really they are looking for professional experience I don’t see how this is any better than saying your a gamer and you did ice skating for a month
This might have been my favorite challenge accepted. Something about how gaming is so looked down upon in the mainstream makes this challenge so much more empowering. I related to you so much about the growing to with zero video games and feeling like I’m just dead weight with friends. I’m so proud of you Michelle and everyone in this video made my day. Actually my whole week. 💙
Actually profession gamers usually make about 3x the amount of money of those jobs. If ur successful, then ur not wasting 25% of your life paying for college fees etc. Itll all about, skill.
Seeing someone play Mario for the first time felt so nostalgic. Playing Mario for the first time as a kid and basically memorizing all of the movements every time. It turns into an instinct, you know where the flowers and mushrooms are😭

MUHAMMED KH My issue is I have terrible reflexes and hand/eye coordination, so I really such at games where you have to make quick decisions. 😂 I would probably lose to even beginner players. But I’m totally okay with that! I love playing games like Zelda, Sims, or Minecraft where I can just do my own thing at my own pace. Love indie games, too! I do like a couple multiplayers, but most of them aren’t competitive. They’re like the Luigi’s Mansion games where you’re all on the same team trying to suck up ghosts or something, haha.

That's the most impressive part, tbh. I've been playing twitch games my entire life, starting in the early 1980s. Hand-eye coordination and dexterity is built into me from a lifetime of games. I've seen non-gamers pick up games and get destroyed by stuff I can do in my sleep. It takes time to hone these skills and she does it in six weeks. That is INSANE. I've been impressed by her challenges before, but this time she's stepping into my territory. Somewhere I know how much dedication it takes. This is a genuine feat. I am so impressed!
The camera focusing on which fingers she was using to press wasd was crazy. It would never occur to me not to put middle finger on W, but she approached it from the keyboard typing perspective, because of course you would if no one told you or showed you the other way.
Wow, that was some impressive progress! As someone who was never great at Fortnite despite growing up with games, I'm amazed at how far you got in just a few weeks. All of these videos are so inspirational!
You should try competitive swimming. It’s pretty hard and very complicated. I also don’t see a lot of content about swimming so it would be fairly unique!
Yeah did it for 4 years. Only remember winning a race by a big lead ONCE. And that was in one of six event types: breaststroke. The 2-3 hour practices definitely sucked, but I'm thankful for them as now I experience little-to-none food allergies. Definitely a great low-impact sport that works out all muscles at once!
@@alltimefalloutatthechemica2106 I had pretty bad Asthma, Eczema, and a ton of allergies growing up. Not only environment stuff like grass, pollen, and dust, but also primarily foods containing dairy, gluten, and nuts/shellfish to a lesser extent. It was a pain. I'd say 4 years of being in swim team 8-10 hours a week between middle school to sophomore year of high school reduced all of those symptoms by 65-80%. It still spikes some seasons, but now I can eat most foods and not have to carry around an inhaler as long as I keep up good self-care.

I keep noticing that when you get something wrong you beat yourself up about it. Just looking at it from a psychological perspective, this discourages you because your brain would rather not try then to to fail. You have a fairly supportive community, and surround yourself with good people. I think you may find it helpful to give yourself some room to fail. Losing is fine, losing is learning! But when you get really angry at yourself it can make you want to stop. Persistence over perfection. I am a huge fan 😊 thank you

@@marcusaurelius652 For some of us, gaming was like a freedom, a different world of sorts. If you had it tough IRL, you'd be more at ease when playing games, forgetting all that stress for a moment. I've never seen anyone express so perfectly how lost I feel when it comes to videogames. Gamers oftentimes see themselves as "geeks" and "outsiders", but *I* always felt like the outsider when hanging out with them.
It may seem that gamers are alienating towards other people because of the gaming language that we grew up learning but if you put your mind to it you can get into gaming yourself. it will be hard at first kinda like any new skill in life. One thing i need to point out is if you have a group of gamer friends never will they try to shame you for your lack of skill. The opposite will happen we usually try to help our nongamer buddies the best way we can.
Michelle choosing one POI to practice (which isn't a bad strategy) only to have it literally blown up by an event is the height of comedy, I feel for her XD
Gowri Krishnadas I mean that depends on the tournament. This tournament was for charity, nothing crazy at all. Video gaming is just now catching universal respect and its amazing to be apart of such a great community. So thank you!
all the masterpieces of gaming came out like 10 years ago, games today are now just industry copy and paste machines. also is it just me or do all girl gamers play the same games, random esports games like valorant/overwatch/cod/csgo (rarer). They don't seem to play any games besides that, there are some games that they just don't touch at all.
its called camping not hide 😆 you should enjoy playing battlefield were you got shot at by everything from land ,air or sea and make your way throw the war 😂
This is remarkably enlightening to me as somebody who grew up around videogames. I didn't think I would be learning anything new through this, but you have completely opened my mind to the idea of the philosophy and language of gaming, that some people don't have this built up muscle memory and how that can be an incredibly embarrassing thing that stems from experiences with friends and I don't think anybody wants to feel like they may be a downer and make others fun diminish. Seeing how you confront the differences in skill and what sort of difficulties you had to mentally spar with. Thank you, Michelle. I truly appreciate you bringing this awareness to the mental aspect of improving, and love that you have the insight to compare these troubles to the struggles you have had in other challenges. It's inspirational.
As someone who has played video games there whole life, it was very interesting to see Michelle learn all these things. For people who play video games most the things like A to jump is just natural! Very good video :)
Watching her play at the beginning it was giving me flashbacks at teaching my little sister how to play video games, and each was really painful to watch but it was nice to know they are learning
I’ve watched a lot of these videos and I must say, even if you don’t “pass” specific tests or goals, you definitely give it your all. At this point you’re a Renaissance woman, a Jack of all trades, and it’s awesome to see.
"I Trained Like A Professional Horse Rider" Honesty, I think it would of the most expensive professions because of the equipment, training, time, land, and horses. Not to mention how much it cost to take care of the land, equipment, and horse.
13:00 I understand and feel the pain that Michelle is going thru , it makes you feel like you always need help, and that you can’t do anything. This also makes you feel like ur taking fun away from the other players.
I relate so much to the embarrassment of not having any gaming skills. This has inspired me to just give it a try and ignore discouraging players. Thank you 🥺✨
Hey Michelle - I know this is years later, but when you are talking about your childhood and video games and your experience, I was the exact same way before any "training". I literally would just not play any games aside from ones of chance because I was embarrassed and unfortunately, the people I tried to learn with would make fun of me. Finally, I ended up dating a gamer and someone who is incredibly patient and kind, and now I play games as much as he does (though still very different styles of games) and we really enjoy playing them together! If anyone else is in this boat, and wants a game to improve with, "It Takes Two" was honestly THE BEST. It taught me SO much, as well as gave me the ability to continually fail in the same area and re-try, vs. having to restart from the beginning. Loving this video, and hope you enjoy playing some games now! It's such a fun and creative outlet!
When you've never gamed as a kid it's so hard to have fun at it when you're in a group. You described the frustration perfectly! This was another great video to watch.
the important matter of this video is u never gave up, its hard to understand video games if you never played them alone, i was just like you when i had my first game boy from never growing up to the video games era and i knew nothing about video games at that time. I can relate to what you went through and now i am a video games coach for people who want to learn video games or help with hand coordination. I’m glad that you never gave up when you were so frustrated, this was really entertaining to watch❤
As a game developer I can tell you did an outstanding job training for this game. The skills required are insane and you managed to hold against people with much more years of experience. I know gaming is sometimes this foreing place for a lot of people but everyone's welcomed here. You don't have to be skilled or be competitive, the only goal is to have fun ;)
Hey Michelle! I, too, grew up without video games/watching a lot of tv/movies. My parents did not want me “wasting time” on video games because they weren’t considered viable options for a lucrative career. AND, growing up, video games were typically considered for boys/guys. To this day, I don’t play video games and feel fairly shamed for not really knowing shit about them. Good on you for stepping WAY out of your comfort zone and changing peoples’ perspectives on the gaming world. 🙌🏻
TL:DR Thanks for being yourself, overcoming anxiety, realizing you, Michelle, can really do anything you put your honest effort and will to it and overall really being relatable on a deep level to my own struggles with aspects or activities in life. I don't feel as alone as i did an hour ago ! This is literally the second video i watch from you, just watched the Chess one and i really respected the fact you didn't quit after the competition, clearly did insane time between those 8+ months and did not leave on the Plateau period. By this second video i can tell you are an amazing content creator, the way you build your tale on a 30 mins video and your sheer will to do your best every time is inspiring, i even got emotional in some parts of both videos because i really and deeply relate to the emotions of doubting every moment of a journey and realizing the only thing is keeping me from surpassing my fearful and bad views of my capabilities is just having fun and believing on myself, every craft or activity has had this feeling on me in key aspects of them and seeing you do it just as i experienced is warming and for some reason i don't feel as alone as i did before them, thanks !
I can already see her as a grandma Her Grandson: Granny, can you tell me a story? Michelle: Well, of course, sweetheart. *Tells every challenge accepted she ever did* Her Grandson: Woah

You would never know how old she is bc she is so sweet and she is so up to date on technology , she also tells great stories about her old students.
Your videos inspire me to continue living. For the longest time I used to think of life as pointless, and something I was just sitting on, waiting for it to end. Watching you do all these things makes me feel like there's so many things in this world that I want to experience before I die, even if i always assumed I couldn't do those things. Thank you for existing. You're my hero.
So... I only knew you from POG Champs (a year or two ago?) and just saw half of your "I trained Like a Chess Grandmaster" video yesterday. I liked it, saw this one this morning (was supposed to be closing my tabs), clicked, saw 30 seconds and thought "I have to see what else is in her 'Challenge Accepted' playlist." I then go to your UA-cam channel and find out that ALL OF YOUR CHANNEL is Challenge Accepted... I immediately hit subscribe and rang the notification bell. Pretty sure I'm going to be loving your content for years to come! 😁 Incidentally, Ms. Khare, I think (from a male perspective) you might have the best female youtube channel I've ever seen. This is... Simply amazing. 👍
I just found your channel and I’m loving every minute of it. All my friends kept referring to me as the male you. I’ve been a carpenter. An electrician. Security guard/ body guard. Warehouse and factory worker. I’ve worked retail. I currently work in R&D and I’m about to start nursing school. I kinda see why friends said that
i've been playing video games for 6 years nows and this video still took me for a ride. First it was stanz who was helping you get better, the list could go on a bit longer but more importantly your teammate played a tournament with chandler riggs or carl from the walking dead. I knew chandler riggs played video games but I honestly didn't know he was good at them. I also know this video came out two years ago from the time I am posting this comment but i'm just seeing this now so it's new to me
I didn’t really understand why gaming was so difficult to get into at first I never thought really about how instinctual it all really is - already knowing how to move, how to jump, how to be dodging, where your health is, how to approach enemies (usually), hotbar organization, game sense, how to watch corners, how to push up, peaking, even strategies like jiggle peaking, things as simple as how to scope, etc. It’s all just instinctual which key binds to try when you play something. You just know when to scope vs hip fire in different games, in games where guns aren’t present how to approach an enemy / specific approaching strategies are just something you get used to. Think about how instinctively people try to jump on an enemy or attack an enemy in a specific way just off of thought. Watching the video it definitely did surprise me just how much of a skill / knowledge difference there was between gamers and non gamers almost purely off of just experience. The idea of somebody not knowing to press space to jump in a game is something foreign to me, but to people who rarely ever play games they wouldn’t know yet that it’s a typical keybind.
For me, you can't just start training, you play overtime, you train your entire life, you rage, you learn, you get past things, and one of the best things that can happen, is coming back to a game you couldn't finish, and steamrolling through it.
Follow me on TWITCH!! Going live this morning at 10AM PT to chat about the video and play Among Us!! :) twitch.tv/MichelleKhare

It's such a fun and creative outlet!

i've been playing video games for 6 years nows and this video still took me for a ride. First it was stanz who was helping you get better, the list could go on a bit longer but more importantly your teammate played a tournament with chandler riggs or carl from the walking dead. I knew chandler riggs played video games but I honestly didn't know he was good at them.
I also know this video came out two years ago from the time I am posting this comment but i'm just seeing this now so it's new to me
I didn’t really understand why gaming was so difficult to get into at first
I never thought really about how instinctual it all really is - already knowing how to move, how to jump, how to be dodging, where your health is, how to approach enemies (usually), hotbar organization, game sense, how to watch corners, how to push up, peaking, even strategies like jiggle peaking, things as simple as how to scope, etc.
The idea of somebody not knowing to press space to jump in a game is something foreign to me, but to people who rarely ever play games they wouldn’t know yet that it’s a typical keybind.

nayeon you can probably do anything just start and you will reach!!
@Zantiago
I meant that in the sense that Barbie can practically do every job since she’s had almost every profession
For me, you can't just start training, you play overtime, you train your entire life, you rage, you learn, you get past things, and one of the best things that can happen, is coming back to a game you couldn't finish, and steamrolling through it.
