Wow, hearing Michelle talk about feeling excluded for not playing games was weirdly humbling. She's become such a huge inspiration for me over the course of watching challenge accepted and MK Ultra, and I've found her intimidating in an abstract, "popular girl" kind of way. To know that someone like her still has weird little things she's intimidated and embarrassed by is comforting.
how can gaming be considered a "weird little thing" holy hurk?
@@oceanicmage Wesley's not calling gaming the "weird little thing". Grammatically, yes that's what they wrote, but their intent is referring to the behavior of being intimidated by gaming as the weird and little/minor thing. The barriers to access gaming seem so easy and common that it was unexpected to see this intimidate or embarrass someone who had given Wesley the impression of otherwise being an all-around competent and popular person.
Doors are another example of being neither weird nor little. Most people are familiar and comfortable with walking through them every day. But in colloquial English, if you meet a person who is hesitant to enter any door in their house, and they have to spend a second to mentally brace themselves before stepping through, you might say that walking through doors seems like a "weird little thing" to be intimidated by. (But then you find out their siblings have a habit of blindly crashing through, causing injuries on various occasions including a broken nose. And then it makes sense in their specific case, as a form of operant conditioning unique to their circumstances.)
Yeahh I totally agree
You know what Michelle is? She's an expert at being a beginner. She picks up new skills so quickly because she's already started from scratch at so many other things she just knows how to approach learning any new skill at all by now. It's kinda neat to see. But I wonder what activities she's actually stuck with over the years.

As a gamer, this video was not only hilarious but humbling. Video gaming does force a different set of skills than the average person realizes. Thank you got taking this challenge on. It was great!
Yes
This was really cool. The "informal experiments" I've done are more focused on how games introduce new players to various mechanics, so it was really cool to watch you go multiple steps further and focus on what it is like to become actually proficient at a game. I'd be really curious to see how/if your skills from Fortnite affect the way you play games moving forward. Great video, and thank you for mentioning my stuff! It is definitely something I would never have expected, but it is really cool to know that the video has reached and helped so many people!
I keep mentioning you in comments too, that series you did on the gaming "language" was one of my favorites on this whole platform! I've shown it to so many people
Lot's of love from Africa 💖 so proud of you Michelle😘
I also didn’t grow up with video games, and I absolutely resonate with the way she discussed her embarrassment with her lack of knowledge. I’ve always been so fascinated with the graphics, storytelling, music, and finesse of video games, and now as an adult who just started getting into video games only in the last few years, I really wish I had grown up with that experience to have the same knowledge, love and nostalgia for beloved video games that so many members of my generation have. But it’s never to late to start playing video games!
Razbuten your girlfriend trying to play video games and your deep dive into why they are so intimidating really made me laugh, made me feel less alone, and helped me understand my boyfriend more. wow, that’s dramatic. but my boyfriend can play COD battle royal and i can try with all my might to play too and only manage to scream and sweat and walk into the walls. Also say sorry a lot. The whole time basically.
Mitchell you are so damn brave. I know I don’t know you but I’ve watched SO MANY CHALLENGES and I’ve gotta say I’m so proud of you.
Sounds like a collab to me. ;)
This is the most underrated youtube Chanel ever. I mean, she's trained like a firefighter, a police officer, FBI, military, ballerina, model, Miss America, ice skating, and now video gaming? Oh and also being a voice actress, a nasa astronaut, a Disney princess, Black Widow, a Network TV Show host, a professionals skier, a clown... and that's not even all of them. Girl, you're amazing! Keep it up

As a life long gamer, musician, and IT guy - the feelings you expressed around the 13 minute mark of feeling out of place or not belonging, are what I feel for anything active / athletic. While I'm making more an effort to be active than I used to - it's definitely my happy place or area of expertise. I am as much of a beginner (or noob to borrow gaming vocabulary) as you are to gaming. But as long we try, that's what matters.
The key is for folks to be accepting of beginners, which I think your channel promotes constantly! :)
Watching someone who doesn't play games play a game for the first time is always a fun time.
"Are you making use of your map at all?"
"NO!!"
"Maybe that's why you're not good at navigating."
Lmao same! Playing a decent amount of (MMO)RPG games recently has definitely helped me with that though.

Michelle status in 10 years : "Been there, done that".
You got that right
That small bit about feeling left out and feeling like wasting people's time being carried hit me. But know a lot of us in the gaming community genuinely love when others stubble onto what we love! Like I love gaming but I love seeing someone else I generally enjoy being with spend time with me gaming. Like there hasn't really been a joy in my life as a gamer quite like getting my girlfriend to fall in love with minecraft or animal crossing. Like we have something to do together that we both love! You're not wasting anyone's time learning, you're just going through the growing pains of learning another langue of sort! Truly a pleasure for you to be offically apart of the gaming community!
You don’t understand. Michelle went from “how do I move?” To getting 3rd place in a tournament. Absolutely incredible! Keep up the work!
Thanks for the likes guys! I appreciate it \^0^/
That's the most impressive part, tbh. I've been playing twitch games my entire life, starting in the early 1980s. Hand-eye coordination and dexterity is built into me from a lifetime of games. I've seen non-gamers pick up games and get destroyed by stuff I can do in my sleep.
It takes time to hone these skills and she does it in six weeks.
That is INSANE. I've been impressed by her challenges before, but this time she's stepping into my territory. Somewhere I know how much dedication it takes. This is a genuine feat. I am so impressed!

Honestly gaming is such a big mental game as well. If you’re having a bad day or don’t have a good mindset you’re not likely to do as well as you normally might. I love how real you were with us Michelle, we’re so proud of you!!

teacher: what do you wanna be when you grow up
me: michelle khare
Me too
Teacher: Oh... so everything.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be either a video game designer or an astronaut.
This is remarkably enlightening to me as somebody who grew up around videogames. I didn't think I would be learning anything new through this, but you have completely opened my mind to the idea of the philosophy and language of gaming, that some people don't have this built up muscle memory and how that can be an incredibly embarrassing thing that stems from experiences with friends and I don't think anybody wants to feel like they may be a downer and make others fun diminish. Seeing how you confront the differences in skill and what sort of difficulties you had to mentally spar with. Thank you, Michelle. I truly appreciate you bringing this awareness to the mental aspect of improving, and love that you have the insight to compare these troubles to the struggles you have had in other challenges. It's inspirational.
I didn’t really understand why gaming was so difficult to get into at first
I never thought really about how instinctual it all really is - already knowing how to move, how to jump, how to be dodging, where your health is, how to approach enemies (usually), hotbar organization, game sense, how to watch corners, how to push up, peaking, even strategies like jiggle peaking, things as simple as how to scope, etc.
It’s all just instinctual which key binds to try when you play something. You just know when to scope vs hip fire in different games, in games where guns aren’t present how to approach an enemy / specific approaching strategies are just something you get used to. Think about how instinctively people try to jump on an enemy or attack an enemy in a specific way just off of thought.
Watching the video it definitely did surprise me just how much of a skill / knowledge difference there was between gamers and non gamers almost purely off of just experience. The idea of somebody not knowing to press space to jump in a game is something foreign to me, but to people who rarely ever play games they wouldn’t know yet that it’s a typical keybind.
Fortnite as your first game is a BOLD move and I respect it 😂
Fortnite requires little skill. It was made for 6 year olds, and you can literally look at the code. All your bullets are randomized and is just luck.

If you haven't checked out the video she recommended it's fascinating. He has his wife play games and watches where she gets tripped up by gaming language many of us internalized as children.
For real that Rasputin video about video game logic is SO good. I think he ended up following it up with 2 or 3 more as well. It's probably one of my favorite videos on this platform because as someone who has gamed my whole life I had never given a second thought to the language I learned from it

Hey Michelle - I know this is years later, but when you are talking about your childhood and video games and your experience, I was the exact same way before any "training". I literally would just not play any games aside from ones of chance because I was embarrassed and unfortunately, the people I tried to learn with would make fun of me. Finally, I ended up dating a gamer and someone who is incredibly patient and kind, and now I play games as much as he does (though still very different styles of games) and we really enjoy playing them together! If anyone else is in this boat, and wants a game to improve with, "It Takes Two" was honestly THE BEST. I keep noticing that when you get something wrong you beat yourself up about it. Just looking at it from a psychological perspective, this discourages you because your brain would rather not try then to to fail. You have a fairly supportive community, and surround yourself with good people. I think you may find it helpful to give yourself some room to fail. Losing is fine, losing is learning! That was epic! You're totally right about gaming being like having to train in a new body. Even when you know exactly what you need to do, it can be insanely difficult when you don't have the muscle-memory and trained reflexes that take years to develop. They can't be forced, either. It's like being expected to draw or write perfectly with your non-dominant hand. I've been gaming since I can remember and I'm 27 now, so my arms/hands have grown used to constant pressure and I guess I learned how to naturally position my body in a way that's comfortable without straining. It wasn't until I was in my 20s when my parents decided to try some of the games I was playing that they complained about sore fingers, hands, and wrists after just one play session. It surprised me because both of my parents have working hands, especially my dad's that can take so much pressure and tension that'd probably cause my tendons or bones to snap. I'm just a scrawny twig. Maybe being an active climber as a kid probably helped build endurance in my arms/hands, but my level of fitness is currently minimal with studies being a priority. All this time since college, I noticed my muscles and body slowly deteriorate due to inactivity with shame, thinking that my bony hands could only do what anyone else could do, but perhaps they have an insane level of stamina I took for granted. I've taken on some extreme challenges like they were expectations when I probably should have recognized them for being unhealthy. Thank you for helping me realize that. While I am healthy in general and get my sleep unlike a lot of people I know, I'm not where I want to be fitness-wise, and I'm not trying to change my image. I just want to gain my muscle weight back and feel stronger because when you have strength, movement feels a little more effortless and even fun. I never want to get to the point where having to get up to fetch anything would feel like a chore unless I'm sick and it can't be helped. You're an inspiration for doing all these very-different challenges, and it's very motivating. You're afraid to step out of your comfort zone, but bravely do so anyways in controlled/responsible ways; no caution to the wind. It feels like you're doing this for the answers and adventure, not just for views. You know how rare it is for someone to be mature enough to do what you do? When you showed that you got a taste of the dark/toxic side of gaming, I felt that. Nearly made me tear up and want to hug you because it's a very relatable thing. Been on both sides myself, as the little kid who couldn't keep up as well as the skilled player being 'held back,' so hearing you talk about that brought back memories, both good and bad. I'm so glad you had good, supportive viewers at the time who totally get it. There are a lot of toxic, insensitive gamers out there who love seeing other people fail because of their own insecurities, and despite knowing that, it can still inflict emotional damage sometimes. If you still play games, I hope you have more fun than negative experiences, 'cause you're amazing at adapting to new challenges! I've never played Fortnite, but from what I could see as an experienced gamer, you had excellent people guiding you and you made it work! Very well done! I really enjoyed this video. Good luck on whatever you're going through now! ^-^
Me with NES Mario/Duckhunt “Mom can you help me with this level?”
Who is Zelda
Michelle: Isn't that the elf guy?
Its ok we all thought Link was named Zelda at some point
True
not if you played the game..
Jake Flores True
Jake Flores I mean Not true
@@ChaoticCatto the first one, though?
You did a great job Michelle, this video is really entertaining and informative😃😃
I’m a gamer myself and have been playing since I was a kid. I love playing games with my family and friends is so much fun😃😃
the gamer inside of me gets happy seeing some1 whose never gamed get happy when they game
“Oh I like this...... so I can just hide?! 😄”
Literally me playing any anxiety-filled game
its called camping not hide 😆 you should enjoy playing battlefield were you got shot at by everything from land ,air or sea and make your way throw the war 😂
You should try competitive swimming. It’s pretty hard and very complicated. I also don’t see a lot of content about swimming so it would be fairly unique!
IMACTIVE CHANNEL dude
IMACTIVE CHANNEL untrue. An analysis of Katie Ledecky’s body and physiological capacities actually show she’s pretty average.
Yeah did it for 4 years. Only remember winning a race by a big lead ONCE. And that was in one of six event types: breaststroke. The 2-3 hour practices definitely sucked, but I'm thankful for them as now I experience little-to-none food allergies. Definitely a great low-impact sport that works out all muscles at once!
Joshua Cheng how did that affect allergies?
@@alltimefalloutatthechemica2106 I had pretty bad Asthma, Eczema, and a ton of allergies growing up. Not only environment stuff like grass, pollen, and dust, but also primarily foods containing dairy, gluten, and nuts/shellfish to a lesser extent. It was a pain. I'd say 4 years of being in swim team 8-10 hours a week between middle school to sophomore year of high school reduced all of those symptoms by 65-80%. It still spikes some seasons, but now I can eat most foods and not have to carry around an inhaler as long as I keep up good self-care.
I miss this season , the story line of that season was the best
This makes me feel so Nostalgic after remembering all of the many hours and years I spent playing this game with friends
Michelle’s resume must be outstanding. She’ll have all the great stories to tell her children and grandchildren when she’s old. ❤️
Michelle Khare in 2050: I trained as myself and became the queen of Earth
I trained as the president and became president.
the agency as your landing spot is hilarious😭
TL:DR
Thanks for being yourself, overcoming anxiety, realizing you, Michelle, can really do anything you put your honest effort and will to it and overall really being relatable on a deep level to my own struggles with aspects or activities in life. I don't feel as alone as i did an hour ago !
This is literally the second video i watch from you, just watched the Chess one and i really respected the fact you didn't quit after the competition, clearly did insane time between those 8+ months and did not leave on the Plateau period. By this second video i can tell you are an amazing content creator, the way you build your tale on a 30 mins video and your sheer will to do your best every time is inspiring, i even got emotional in some parts of both videos because i really and deeply relate to the emotions of doubting every moment of a journey and realizing the only thing is keeping me from surpassing my fearful and bad views of my capabilities is just having fun and believing on myself, every craft or activity has had this feeling on me in key aspects of them and seeing you do it just as i experienced is warming and for some reason i don't feel as alone as i did before them, thanks !
Honestly, the coach is an amazing teacher and he really knows what he is talking about :D
i agree!
At the start of the video: "If you hit spacebar you will jump"
Well, this will be interesting.
Watching her play at the beginning it was giving me flashbacks at teaching my little sister how to play video games, and each was really painful to watch but it was nice to know they are learning
LOL
fr i cringed so hard
I loved this video that's why I subscribed and hit the notification bell to never miss an upload😁😁😁
the first shot she fired in a videogame was by luck a one hit kill. She's already a better gamer than me and I had a 12 year head start
"I can't kill"
"it's ok, we're pacifists in our first game"
LMAO
teacher: what do you wanna be when you grow up
?
me: Michelle Khare
teacher: oh... so everything.
Farheen so true lol
She's like a real life Barbie
michelle so what helps me some times is listening to music while playing it just helps me a lot
Loved how yall featured Zelda!! One of my favourite games of all time. One thing I noticed from playing so many different titles is how easy it is to get confused by the difference in controls. For example playing two titles on the Nintendo Wii which uses motion controls sometimes causes me to mistake one game for the other.
Michelle is the Indian Barbie. She's everything at the same time. I just admire her so much
She’s Indian?
@@angelxvcr3552 Yeah she is half indian her father is indian and mother is irish decent.
How about, "I I Trained Like A Professional Chess Player"? Would be very interesting. :)
I pass out after 3 hours of making simple blunders lmao
@Gowri Krishnadas oh i know that i'm just stating, I play on chess.com lol
@Gowri Krishnadas ok boomer OMEGALUL
Gowri Krishnadas I mean that depends on the tournament. This tournament was for charity, nothing crazy at all. There are a lot of online chess tournaments and if you train everyday with a coach you can definitely get a similar result as in this video. I dont know why you think that she would not get it done lol
@Gowri Krishnadas same thing with fortnite, yet she still tried it 😂
Having seen your chess video and now this one, just remember that everyone is a beginner at first. Have fun! Girl, Your timeline goals are impressive! Just remember, failing is a part of life. As long as you never give it all up, you will never be a failure...and that's why I love your videos. I love that you try again! That's super awesome and not very common! (btw..I've actually never played fortnight specifically, so you're not alone..good job!)
This was dope 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Guys let’s notice how strong Michelle is she has done so many things like girl ur a superhuman
Def no where near superhuman

As a female gamer thank you for giving our community this recognition and respect. As a gamer... thank you for tackling this and showing the world that a lot of dedication and passion is actually put into gaming. Video gaming is just now catching universal respect and its amazing to be apart of such a great community. So thank you!
It's just gamer not girl gamer, boy gamer or anything just gamer
@@nexuscharenoi8127 Fr bruh all these females wanna be so segregated, it’s so dumb
@@nexuscharenoi8127 no they call it gamer girl because not much of females game. Plus she was showing respect
I just call myself Gamer Or by my tag name VanguardTitan5335. Do not ask my old tag name !
all the masterpieces of gaming came out like 10 years ago, games today are now just industry copy and paste machines.
also is it just me or do all girl gamers play the same games, random esports games like valorant/overwatch/cod/csgo (rarer). They don't seem to play any games besides that, there are some games that they just don't touch at all.
First time she plays super mario it's hillarious 😂😂😂
Girl is amazing doing all this stuff it’s so inspiring!
'The only reason I know what that word is - is because of the sims'
*Ah yes, the gamer.*
As a girl who devoted my life to games..this did make me tear up. It was really wonderful to see you two girls really work together in the Tournament. It makes me want to try even harder ❤ and thums up for all your effort.
me too sister 🥺
Devoted your life? Wow….
@@marcusaurelius652 Dude Ive seen your comments on more then just this video, your sad ass devotes your life to hate, clearly you don't like yourself
@@marcusaurelius652 You seriously creep me out. Do you dedicate your life to replying to insult random people on the internet? Get a life man.
@@marcusaurelius652 For some of us, gaming was like a freedom, a different world of sorts. If you had it tough IRL, you'd be more at ease when playing games, forgetting all that stress for a moment. I personally lived poorly and in deep stress, and played games just to make the day pass faster.
Now, when I'm having a bit better lifestyle here, gaming isn't prio no. 1 anymore. I mean, I do still play. But its not like 12 hours a day lol I'm instead trying to focus on actually making games instead, because I'm pretty fascinated in how it all works out :D
I've seen her less agitated with a face full of tear gas in a simulated active shooter scenario..
But the zelda tutorial, that's where the raging Michelle shows up lol.
(the more I think about it, she totally could punch a wall clean off in a rage fit in LOL)
Michelle when she gets a setup "This is cool!" Me when i get a setup "I AM SOOOO HAPYYYYYY THIS IS THE BEST SETUP EVER!!!!😂
