FINDING THE TRUTH
I love how the Spider-Man reference also seems to be a reference to the Raimi movies based off how the webs look
Since the Stone ocean manga runs during 2000~2003 it's highly possible that it's Araki's inspiration
Since Stone Ocean takes place during the 2010s, does that mean that he may be (retroactively) the Spider-Man from Spider-Man 4 (the film that was supposed to come out in 2011)?
@@angelbasiliorodriguezbusto2065 Spiderman 4 not being cancelled in the Jojo universe is a headcanon i'm willing to accept
what, you can only see the fingers? is there another appearance?
@@Hootimus really??
Things that all Joestars in the anime share:
-A star on the back
-Honor and respect
-Ability in battle
-Love for Baoh
TIL Joseph has honor
@@carnivorze1052 Joseph has honor he gave wamu a comfortable and respectable death even though he killed cesar
@@K1ngG1no it is respect. Hé respectes his ennemies
He has no honor, absolutelly no shame of running away, lying or using bad tricks
@@carnivorze1052 if he "respected" his enemies then he wouldn't have used underhand tricks/bad tricks
@@myusernameistrash8408 If he was an idiot he wouldn't have used underhanded tricks/genius tricks. War is deception.
Poor Waldo, a wanted war criminal and now a pedestrian in JoJo.
Wait, waldo is war criminal?!
And he doesn't pay taxes :'/
Someone needs to point out that Sex Pistols are the toon bullets from Who Framed Roger Rabbit
@@lucineidecarvalhodeoliveir5566 I hope so
And then became a scp
To this day I still love anasui screaming about Mickey Mouse
THIS SHIT AINT DISNEY
Chrishum
“If there’s no copyright lawyers, THIS SHIT AIN’T DISNEY”
Sadly it's unlikely that scene gonna adapted into anime for obvious reasons
@@huytungnguyen119 we might get warner bros characters or even original netflix characters though
@@Chrishum Anime version: “IF THERE IS NO BUGS BUNNY, THIS SHIT AINT WANER BROS!”
I love how the bully made fun of Josuke's pompodour despite having one
It’s probably how the pompadour was done instead
Josuke's pompadour was outdated that's why the bully made fun of him. In canon Josuke's style was from 11 years prior
I really hope the part 6 anime can still keep the references. Bohemian rhapsody just wouldn't be the same.
Some people suggested that if the anime cannot retain the references due to licensing/copyright shenanigans, they could reference Araki's other works or maybe Warner Bros characters instead. I love that idea, but we will have to wait and see.
Bohemian rhapsody more like copyright makwr
I hope so, I want to see Mazinger Z, Tetsujin 28, and Astroboy flying in the sky together.
8:40
"Holy shit Weather, it's big chungus!"
moral of the story: araki likes fist of the north star
6:19 Cell debuted in February of 1992, his second form in May 1992, while Echoes Act 1 debuted in October
5:30 I like how its black hair on black background so you don’t know what astro boy’s hair looks like
I have a feeling that Baoh will take Spider-Man’s place in the anime.
*perhaps*
Or Batman if they're gonna do what the rumours say and swap out Disney owned characters for Warner ones
@@drxshock6957 This shit really ain't gonna be Disney 😔
Plot twist: all the characters are going to be replaced by Baoh.
@@drxshock6957 so far that seems to be what they've done. Instead of Ermes listing Mickey Mouse's birthday, she lists Bugs Bunny's birthday. They most likely will replace Spider-Man with some DC character.
It's also interesting to note that Spider-Man is coloured in the same style as the version in the Tobey Maguire version with the silver webbing which would line up with the rough time frame of the film's release and the release of the manga itself
& Araki has talked with Sam Raimi in an interview together at the start of Steel Ball Run's serialization (2004)
The Intro never gets old
I can't wait for Bohemian Rhapsody in the anime, looking forward to seeing how they handle that arc.
Maybe they will add a lot of Warner Bros references since they are involved with the anime adaptations of Jojo.
They'll probably lean more on the public domain characters and only show bauge glimpses of the more popular and difficult to include ones like Spidey and Mickey
@@koruoshouji9960 "This shit ain't Looney Tunes if there's no Bugs!"
inb4 mickey is replaced with big chungus
Big chungus got killed by 2 balls made out of Batman's face whilst Jolyne Cujoh is shitting on the floor
(And also Pucci is confused too)
Interesting stuff, especially the huge Enki Bilal influence on the series. There is one reference you forgot to mention, but it's also something that a lot of people tend to overpass when reading/watching Jojo. In chapter 1 and episode 1 of Stardust Crusaders, there's an officer with a unibrow and broad-ish face. It's pretty obvious that that's a cameo/reference to Ryotsu from Kochikame, aka one of the longest running Jump manga.
I honestly have to thank JoJo for introducing me to Fist of the North Star
so Mickey Mouse and Waldo are cannon In JoJo... amazing
Another reference: in Part 4, the car that the folded wad of Koichi was an AE86 Trueno. Most likely an Initial D reference as by the end of Part 4's run, Shuichi Shigeno had just started releasing Initial D
Kinnikuman was/is one of my all time favorite series and being reminded of Kinnikuman throwing a [road roller] at Meat being an inspiration for the famous final attack of DIO brings me an endless amount of joy.
I knew or suspected a lot of things but the Moomins was a surprise.
I remember when Rubber Soul was pretending to be Kakyoin and the other guy tried to steal his wallet, Rubber Soul attcked him using a move similar to the Tower Bridge, the titular move from Robin Mask in the Kinnikuman anime/manga.
Glad to see Araki enjoys Enki Bilal comics, he is one of the greatest cartoonists in France.
Very excited to see One Piece related things some time. Episode 1000 today was incredible, as well as the most recent chapter. I'm sure you'll have some interesting thoughts on the story.
Keep up the great work. Love the content.
Me: Where's Waldo?
DIO: With the birds
Fist of the North Star has multiple JoJo characters in it's cast.
Jotaro/Kenshiro, Polnareff/Rei, Speedwagon/Shin, & Reimi/Lin
Jotaro is based off of some Clint Eastwood characters.
How did you in good conscience say Jotaro was inspired by Kenshiro when Jonathan exists
There seems to be a good amount of Kinnikuman references in Jojo, seeing as its one of the biggest inspiration for a lot of shonen and was why manga like Yu Yu Hakusho shifted to a Tournment Arc. Theres also a good amount of characters in Jojo that take inspiration from it and may also be why part 3 has a more multinational cast and settings. A few characters that could possibly have inspiration from Kinnikuman characters would be Joseph who shares many characteristics to the main character Kinniku and Polnareff who could draw inspiration from the character Terryman as they share a similar kind of introduction and development in the main cast.
Caesar's death is veerrrrrry similar to Shuu's from FotNS
Could you do a video covering works inspired by Jojo, such as Scryed, Persona and the later chapters of Yuyu Hakusho? The latter's arc, dealing with psychic powers and territory just echoes a stand!
Hunter x Hunter is also heavily inspired (Some characters of the Chimera Ants arc and the current War of Succession arc are the best examples). By the way, HxH was why I decided to give JoJo a chance, after hearing good stuff about JoJo from HxH fans (because the fanbase makes JoJo looks like, well, something that it is definitely not)
Street Fighter Characters like Guile inspired by Stroheim
@@Samstar369 Rosa from Street Fighter is totally based on Lisa Lisa
@@Samstar369 yeah I heard about that. Same with bennimarus ( KOF) hairdo being inspired by Polneriff.
Now, this is what i call reverse jojo reference
Thank you for compiling such a comprehensive visual references!! Really appreciated and highly useful! Btw 5:26 refers to Atom‘s hair and we can’t see it as his black blends into the black background. I’ve known it already so I took that as a charming point :))))
This is the reason why I believe that Jojo in and of itself, the biggest crossover and fanfiction of all time.
6:19 the way echoes acts 1 and 2's tail are designed compared to imperfect cell and semi perfect cells tail honestly can't feel like a coincidence
Hamon Beat uploading 5vids in 1 month?
The JoJo Gods must've blessed us.
I also heard there is a moment in Kinniku-Man where someone stops their heart, just like Jotaro?
It's official, everything is a Jojo reference
Pokemon and jojo combined
It's more like Jojo is a singularity point in which all references go to and that references everything that comes after
@@Fidorr I mean Pokemon did reference Jojo when Meowth did all those poses so..... 🤣
@SmashBros2009 i know its kinda cool
@@SmashBros2009 stands = pokemon
lol the fact cell and echoes were at the same time, such a coincidence
5:00 makes sense because waldo sounds like warudo
Its kind of wild to think about how JoJo its just like 2 years younger than Dragon Ball and older than berserk, for some reason its something that blow my mind.
I believe there was also a Mickey Mouse toy during the fight against Storts Maxx in Stone Ocean.
One day I realized that Chilli pepper did indeed look a lot like Freeza
it's so dope to recognize something u know while watching the series
Araki is such a cool guy. He can just reference musicians and Mickey Mouse with no fear
It's funny that American manga fans seem to have noticed Ginga Nagareboshi Gin "just recently". It has had it's strong fan base for surprisingly long while not being a mainstream hit (in Nordic countries it's actually bigger than JoJo though).
Wouldn't be surprised if Bucciarati/Buccellati was also inspired from Iyami (with Will A Zeppeli)
I expected the manga, anime, and Disney references, but those BD references hit me outta left field
Araki is truly a man of culture
I read through some of the comments and no one had said this, in the cheap trick arc from part 4, Rohan mentioned about not wanting anyone to look at your back is similar to the manga series Golgo 13
King Crimson's character design seems to be heavily based on the armor-less Eva01 from Evangelion
I honestly don't see it except for the eyes maybe.
I finally know the name of the song in your intro it is crazy my beat by coda
Chillie Pepper is packing in the thumbnail
i knew it, i knew JoJo part 3 is one big Hokuto No Ken reference..
just the oraoraora alone feels so inspired by the atatatatata omae wa mou shindeiru
this taught me how to pronounce "versailles"
Also in the Blue Lagoon arc in Part 8, there is a character called Nami (like in One Piece), she is a bystander Josuke thinks is under the influence Dolomite's stand, but she exclaims she just has some stuff leaking out of her eye.
I really hate how copyright and legal nonsense effects artists ability to create. But i really love these videos and your channel! Lol
kinnikuman is as bizarre/awesome as jojo! love it
God damn you, Araki. For making Fist of a North a Star a joke to all.
Great analysis video! Thanks for uploading!
My favourite bit was when he says “fist of the North Star”
I had no idea they mentioned kenshiro during the bohemian rhapsody arc guess I didn’t notice that dialogue
speaking of spiderman, spider climbs on a truck to move,
this scene is inspired by: "hey! stop moving! why are you still flooring it!?" from mista
Whenever Annasui says "If there's no Mickey, this shit ain't Disney" I could've sworn that was a line from Natural Born Killers by Mickey Knox. But I don't remember. It sounds very familiar
I really hope the FOTNS references will remain in the upcoming Stone Ocean anime!!
Fun fact. The hulk gets magic armor that is very reminiscent of the world
Great content. I look forward to meals when I get to watch one of your videos.
This was really awesome
i'd love to see you finish up this series with a summary of references to art and fashion
chads like hamon beat 👍
I came to the comment section to make sure everybody must suffer with me in the passing glance of chilli pepper looks like hes packing a mad big golden schmeat
The hamon beat is sick
I don't know if you've ever brought it up in your videos, but the Araki comment at 2:21 is interesting. Not only is it another example of the early idea of the connection between stands and ripple, but between ripple and spin. I'm curious if there are other "early references" to part 7's ideas in earlier parts or if there are more examples of the connection that between ripple and stands in earlier parts. I know you've actually made a few videos on this topic, but I don't recall seeing this Araki comment in those videos even though I think it was relevant.
11:33 So that's where Minecraft got their inspiration for the warden?!?!
When you realize that jojo references everything instead of everything being a jojo reference
10:45 the white dog is the one Kars saves from getting hit by a car in part 2
Araki tried to warn us about the roving gangs of One Piece fans. Don't let them catch you!
Great video as always see you in the next one.🤝
The Kamehameha scene seems to be a reference to when super perfect cell was about to clash with gohan
Therapist : Cute-aro isn't real, he can't hurt you
CuTe-aRo :
10:36 That also looks like a Kewpie doll with its head turned around.
I feel like the anubis one is a bit of a stretch since that's just how anubis is depicted in media
It’s so cool that Astro Boy, Luffy and Chopper appeared in Part 6
EVERYTHING IS A JOJO REFERENCE CHANGE MY MIND
Apparently Horus jet was also the inspiration for aerosmith design
The air taxi from the Nikopol trilogy?
We won't be needing to find Waldo anymore
My Hero: has some chapter art that matches up with spiderman comics
JoJo: hold my beer
Not only is everything a JoJo reference, Jojo references everything
The stand ability Za Warudo night have been inspired by Guldo's time stop
hokuto shinken is invincible
Jagi from fist of the north star
How about art references (statues, paintings, architecture) in Jojo. It could be an interesting video
9:59
I thought it was inspired by those weird wigs old American politicians wore in portraits
Vocal percussion on whole nother level isnt coming through my mind so my mind isnt protected
Means my mind is blow'd watchin dis
Glad that they rejected Araki's idea of drawing Mickey in Bohemian Rhapsody's arc.
Would've been a lot difficult for David Production to adapt said arc.
take a shot for everytime Fist Of The North Star is mentioned
Is that a Jagi from Fist of the North Star reference!!
What if JoJo references itself, is that not a manga reference?
When Jojo REFERENCE is a REFERENCE
Non and Small JoJo fans: is that a JoJo Reference
JoJo Fans: IS THAT A SPIDER MAN REFERENCE
I thought that jotaro using the name qotaro
Was a reference to susie qotaro
But I think the reference a manga makes more sense
how about a video referencing the things araki forgot in part 8?
I feel bad for rohan he had to sell his sailer moon figures.
I wonder how the bohemian Rhapsody episode will play out in the anime
Probably why it took so long to make... they were securing the rights
A cool connection between Echos and Cell is that they each have three forms, with the last form having no tail
