I have the 2023 version and it has been an Amazing car. Just cant understand why so many complaints about acceleration and merging on to the Highway. Never had a problem with that and If you need that extra boost then put it in sport mode and you’re good. But hearing people say that it’s a dangerous hazard is Laughable and they are just Exaggerating and expecting a super Car or something.
This engine is one of the better engine honda has should last a solid 200000 to 300000 miles if you want to keep the car for along time . Highly reliable for longevity and safety
I got a 24 Sport the day after Christmas. I like it I agree it could have a tad more power, BUT you don’t buy a vehicle like this for speed. It’s practical, Honda reliability and I think fun to drive. I’m in my 40s and just need something to get me from A to B and has AWD and can haul my bicycle.
My only other problem with this vehicle is that it makes a loud sound coming from the center of the inside cabin that happens when idling at a light or when putting the vehicle in reverse but stops when in neutral and when in park. Does any other Honda HRV Sport owner notice that?
I just leased the 2024 HRV after three years with the 2021 HRV (both base models)...what a difference!!! I'm not looking to be speed racer, so the lower horse power isn't a big deal. Trust me...driving in Vegas already seems like a contact sport. I don't need to be racing to the next red light. The 2024 is a little larger than my 2021, and it really adds something to the car. It feels more substantial and is, for some reason, a lot more fun to drive. SO happy with this car!
Just got one and upgraded from 22 civic - it’s the same acceleration as a civic sport 2022 due to same horsepower and engine. These people comparing have never test driven this car. Y’all have no idea what you’re talking about it accelerates perfectly fine, it’s not a damn race car. It’s a mini tank that is safe and reliable which is what most people look for in a car- go get the type R if you’re complaining about acceleration and HP lol - and older Honda may have been more power but the new 4 cylinders are so good and efficient they use less power compared to older Hondas. 😂
Thanks for your input, however its not exactly true. Your 22 civic was over 200 pound lighter than the HRV. It was also about 2 seconds faster 0-60. The acceleration is sluggish comparing to other vehicles in its class but you are right about Honda's reliability. It is also one of the roomiest in its class. If its fast enough for you, thats great! Thansk for watching!
After 20 years with a Honda Element, it was time for a new ride! Wow, 2024 technology compared with 2004 is truly a mind-bending experience. I am not looking to make a statement. I just want something practical that is easy on the wallet. I would love it if Honda would start making the Element again. Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase.
I was just talking with someone about the Element and the popularity of the "square look" nowadays. I think Honda was ahead of time with Element, but I remember that we could not sell them new if our life depended on it. As soon as they were discontonued the demand skurocketed and so did prices so people could sell them few years old for more than they purchased it new.
@@MattTheCarguy Honda didn't market the Element correctly. They were targeting young people on the move. Many small businesses were using them as delivery vehicles since it was so easy to remove the rear seats. I believe it's just a matter of time before it's back in production. The Ford Bronco was out of production for 25 years before being reintroduced. I hope Honda doesn't take that long.
@@louisvanzandt you are correct, they definitely targeted the surfer dudes and dudettes lol. And we did sell a ton to flower shops, coffee roasters etc. Hopefully if the new one comes out it wont be electric.
Hi, can you help me with this:- While connecting a Phone through a USB port for Android Auto it says unsupported I tried a different cable, and it still says the same. what solution will be for this and which USB cable should I use for my Honda HRV Lx?
As far as the cable I would try the OEM to see if it would change anything. Also make sure that your Android system and Android auto are updated. I believe it must be Android 8.0 or higher to be supported.
Knowing what you're getting before you buy anything is good in curbing expectations so thanks for the review. It does have a slow acceleration compared to other cars. Knowing that, I still got this as my daily driver getting me from point A to point B and it does it comfortably. I'm not expecting a fun ride with this one, I still have my MB GLC 300 for that. I just wouldn't use the MB as a daily driver because it uses premium gas and I travel over 70 km per day. Plus the fuel efficiency on the MB is worse than this one so I decided to bite the bullet. That said, overall the bullet tastes good, no complaints here. To sum up my opinion of it, it's excellent as a no frills daily driver but I wouldn't consider this as a keeper that's why I decided just to lease it. Really appreciate your review. No regrets here because of your review.
I Have A Black 2019 Honda HRV LX AWD, 24K + Miles, Same Vehicle, I Think They Should All Come Standard With @Honda Fog Lights, Sunroof, Navigation.. For The “PRICE” It Is TOO PLAIN.. It’s Great Compact Truck, Needs To Compete Better With Other “BASE” Model Trucks. “SportMode” On The LX Doesn’t Have A Pick Up Go. Great Video..!
Very disappointing, when I test drove it I liked almost everything about it except the engine and CVT😢 If Honda puts the 1.5 turbo and a REAL TRANNY they will have a winner. In my opinion it was very under powered and the CVT drone was like nails on a blackboard. Make those 2 changes and you (Honda) will have a winner.
I upgraded from a 2018 Honda HRV EX to a 2024 RAV4 Hybrid. The HRV is dangerously slow - I live in Colorado, and I get less than the marketed 141 hp driving this car even in the city, which makes merging onto the freeway dangerous even with flooring the accelerator. At elevation, and even in the mountains, I get even less hp. With the AWD features, this is completely unacceptable. The underpowered engine also makes the car less efficient in terms of gas mileage. I would strongly recommend most buyers to NOT buy this car, unless they live at sea-level and use this car simply for daily commutes. I really don't see how increasing this car by 17 hp helps since the car is heavier and can not compare to similar cars by other companies which have more hp (Subaru Crosstrek and Toyota Corolla Cross).
Good point. I agree that it could use more hp, but not everyone lives in the mountains. I remember driving my Infiniti QX4 through the mountains and it felt like it was stalling that's how slow it was, Semi trucks were passing me by and I was freaking out. And since you brought up the competition Subaru Crosstrek with it base engine has only 152 hp and you would have to upgrade to either Sport, Limited and Wilderness to get 182.hp. Toyota Corolla Cross has about 10hp more than the HR-V, Base Kona and Seltos 147hp, Buick Envista, Chevy Trax, 137hp, Nissan Kicks 122hp. S unless you go with top line trims which would push the price to around 30K or upgrade to the next segment, compact SUV ( Rav4, Cr-V, Forester etc.) you wont get much better performance.
I agree! it's better than the new Trax and Envista and just about the same as the new base Kona, but definitely could use the extra power. And transmission.
for the price, not worth it. styling is boring. ride not so good. performance? meh...mpg? meh.. and cvt feels like crap. if they had a turbo option with a manual transmission, it will be a different story.
I finally bought this one today. Honda has a long-standing reputation in the industry.

Is it suitable for small family with 2 kids with car seat? I did checked Mazda cx30 space in rear is very tight
Well it is considered sub compact SUV so space will be limited but it is definitely larger than CX-30
It is surprisingly roomy. I test drove one today and put a rear facing child seat in behind my seat and I had enough room at 5’11
Buy it! Space is sufficient

Definitely the 1.5T would be a better option. Sometimes I wonder how they come up with their decisions on engine and transmissions. Most likely $$$
Totally Agree, 1.5T Would Be Better..!
1.5s are blowing head gaskets on the regular. This engine is a 2L with port injection. Everyone doing cvt on entry level
Turbo charges on a SUV is not a good idea lol
If You need more performance, just put the Shifter in S mode , then back to D when you are up to the cruiising speed you desire.
