    Just haapen on your channel by chance looking at a new car for my wife. By far the most comprehensive reviewer of new cars I've seen. The fact you took time to drive previous iteration back to back and cover improvements is excellent. Well done.

    They're such good looking vehicles, I too was hoping they'd have offered it with the Civic powertrain, seems a bit underpowered. Love the new blue colour.

    • @Carcode

      They are very stylish especially in the blue! As I say for town driving as well as A&B roads it’s perfect, but for those who do a lot of motorway driving more power / a bigger engine would be better 👍🏻. Thanks for watching 😊

    Very smart. I'd have one. Dont be fooled by the Honda quoted 0-60 time of over 10 seconds. CarWow clocked a 0-60 time of 8.7 seconds. Plenty quick enough for a small SUV like this. Japanese manufacturers are always conservative with 0-60 times.

    Have now clocked 30,000 kms in our first year with the car and averaged 24.4kms per litre in mixed city, backroads and motorway driving. Air con is always on. Car is used for school run, shopping, holidays and weekends. Under normal driving conditions the car is quiet and smooth, hardly needing to dip into hard acceleration or kick down, mostly driven in Eco mode. Suspension is well controlled and steering predictable. With a family of 4 and the boot loaded with luggage for the weekend, we don’t feel the need for more power on Thailand’s open or mountain roads. Magic seats are excellent for permitting heavy or difficult loads to be carried within the wheelbase.

    Fantastic work Sam and a huge congratulations on getting your first press car 🎉🎉🫶🏻☺️
    I can imagine how made up you are about that, it’s a huge milestone and long overdue in my opinion! Your reviews are always so well produced and informative, you put so much work into Carcode it’s fantastic to see manufacturers are finally giving you recognition. And big shout out to Honda for being the first to loan you a car 😊
    Haha I did notice in the thumbnail you’d matched your outfit with the HRV 😂 when you next do a wizard update I’ll remember to do a fit check and expect some yellow shorts/trousers and a black shirt/hoodie 🤣🤣🤣
    Love the drone work in the intro shots too - plus the HRV itself is way better with all the revisions.
    I do like a green car so will be interesting to see what the standard paint looks like, although that blue would definitely be my second choice. Be nice if Honda brought back a yellow special edition on one of their cars too - I remember my dad looking closely at an Eddie Jordan Civic in the 90s and the yellow looked great on it. I know the HRV isn’t exactly a performance special but with the black trim round the wheel arches I think it would look great 👍🏻

    • @Carcode
      @Carcode  3 місяці тому +2

      Yes! It was very exciting to get my hands on my first loan car 🚙 🎉
      More matching outfits to come! The drone shots were thanks to my Dad, it’s very cool to add another element to the videos and something a longer time with the car allowed 😄
      I’m sure the green will look nicer in person than on the online configurator, I will just have to wait until one comes into the dealership. Yellow is always a good shout! 🤞🏻They add yellow as an option on the upcoming Prelude Hybrid.
      Thank you for your continued support and encouragement Richard 😊

    Why oh why does everyone who reviews the Hondas insist on saying they have a CVT it doesn’t have a gearbox, engine drives a generator to the battery and the electric motor to the wheels, and the engine engages a clutch to the wheels at higher speeds, and this information is out there.

    • @Carcode
      @Carcode  3 місяці тому +3

      The hybrid system does use a form of CVT transmission, as you say to engage the electric motors or engine 👍🏻

    • @RickyG84
      @RickyG84 3 місяці тому

      The H:EV system does have a gearbox, even a full EV has a gearbox, albeit a reduction one.
      My understanding is that the H:EV engages a clutch in its gearbox as a form of direct drive from the engine at high speeds, or where the power of both the motor and engine are required. Being a clutch its operation to the end user feels extremely CVT esque and for all intents and purposes a clutch by its own nature is variable so can be considered a form of continuously variable transmission.
      Honda don’t market it directly as a CVT transmission but a a rose by any other name…. I think that’s where a lot of this confusion comes from.

    Had a test drive quite recently, a small incline and transmission kept going so loud I first thought it was broken 😂 the dealership manager said I’d get used to, not a chance. Bet it’s a good car as long as you plan on doing most of your driving traffic jams and city as fuel consumption real good, I am 1.75 meters tall, couldn’t stick my elbow out, yeah I like to drive this way in summer, felt like I was trapped inside. That ride was best proof you must drive it before you buy. I love the way it looks though!

  • @AndrewKNI
    @AndrewKNI 3 місяці тому +2

    A great review Sam. The small improvements seem to make a big difference. The HRV certainly seemed quiet cruising between 40-60mph (and I don't normally accelerate hard) so it would be good enough for me. A very smart looking offering. I assume that the Jazz has the same engine set up? The only issue is the price but then they are all expensive these days. 😏

    • @Carcode
      @Carcode  3 місяці тому +1

      Thanks Andrew, definitely all of the small tweaks add up! It is a very similar set up to the Jazz, with a little more power. Yes, it’s more on the premium price end, but yes it everything is expensive now 😅

    Thank you for this review. I'm looking for my next car and I've been looking at a range of cars. One thing I've noticed is that Honda have a higher spec therefore a higher price. If you take a VW T-Roc for instance and add heated seats, auto dim headlights ect to bring it up to the Honda spec , there's not a big difference in price..

    • @Carcode
      @Carcode  Місяць тому +1

      That’s correct, Honda includes all the features on each trim rather than needing to add lots of options and packs that you see from other brands! If you like to have lots of equipment on your car the Honda can work out cheaper and of course it is a hybrid so you should save a bit of fuel compared to a T-Roc, especially if you do a lot of town driving.
      Thanks for watching!

  • @ubernoob103
    @ubernoob103 2 місяці тому +5

    Nobody seems to have mentioned this, but I’m going to have to add some constructive criticism. The Honda E:HEV system doesn’t have a “transmission” at all - multiple times you go on about a “CVT”, going as far as to describe the cone/belt at some point, but this is factually incorrect. Google how the ehev system works - its basically a direct drive e-motor powering the wheels, with the engine serving mostly as a power unit for a generator. That generator feeds power to the battery, which then powers the direct drive motor. Only when the car deems it most efficient will there be a direct mechanical connection between the wheels and the engine (via a clutch). Great video otherwise.

    Hello, first of all great review! Many thanks. Only your review showed the sunroof moonroof thing. I still call it a “thing” because I cannot find any information about this. I asked a local dealership about this and they told me: the front has a sunroof, it opens. The back is only a moonroof, not opening. Is that accurate?

    • @Carcode

      Thank you, I appreciate your comment 😊 The front section has a manually retractable sunblind, revealing a fixed sunroof, the rear has 2 panels which hide the rear fixed sunroof.

    Great review as always. I really like the car - and the magic seats are back! I'm pretty sure the pre-facelift didn't have them.
    They're a bit too pricey and the boot is too small for the class of vehicle. I'm not sure i could cope with the mooing CVT. It's a shame because i love how it looks and should be really well engineered.

      Thanks Chris! The Magic Seats were on the pre-facelift too, a great feature. It does look great and you get used to its ‘Mooing’ 🐄 especially around town where it hardly makes noise. It’s a more niche vehicle for those wanting something that stands out and provides great fuel economy, just not perfect for lots of motorway trips and you are correct it’s not the cheapest car, but it is unique!
