@Kelly Angel Burn Brando was first, he was king. Al Pacino Is right up there. robert de niro also amazing. However Brando remains King and its so sad that we will never have him again.
those shining eyes that beautiful smile his gentle walk the charismatic body language and expressions and this unique voice I love you Al, the Godfather of Acting
Hey Moonwalker did u find the cow coz it didn't make it?!!! Al was born wiv it . The chemistry frm being an only child and parents that propelled him no doubt. But the theatre was his home from home and the medicine and family that helped him work thru I'm sure. The water he cud swim in. You kno the definition of drama? Frm a Londoner
Al pacino is one of the good guys in Hollywood. The fact he didnt win an oscar in the 70s for all his outstanding work is seriously a very perplexing thing. The 2 godfathers, serpico , dog day afternoon justice for all. Just unreal.
I don't put any stock in the Oscars choices whatsoever, I think they've awarded some straight up bad performances in the past. But even I'm baffled by how he didn't get an oscar for GF2 in particular. DDA also, though at least then I can understand wanting to award Nicholson. The 70s is easily my favourite decade in American cinema, so there really were a wealth of choices.
I believe there is a lot of RICH BOYS POLITICS that goes beyond what we see and hear, and like everything else when choosing who gets the Oscar, may not always be fair
We all know by now that's a truly great. Great actors don't get recognized with most of their work with the appropriate amount of awards. I always go back to the example of John Wayne. One of greatest actors to have ever lived, and in his lifetime, he only got 1 award. It just goes to show that all that stuff is popularity, show it doesn't go to true talent.
How can you not love that man. The beauty about him is that he is just the way you see him he is. A friendly, lovely, down to earth gentlemen that I had the pleasure to meet! God bless
i have an uncle just like al... people that saw suffering and pain become so humble and loving or phsycopats lol... well the pshycopat comes out but only for the protection of the good in this case lol
Al Pacino WAS the Godfather. HE made that movie not Brando. He should have received an Oscar for Scarface, Serpico and off course The Godfather without a shadow of a doubt, hands down. Love that beautiful man.❤🧡💛💜💙
"Talking about me... me... whatever that is.." says Al Pacino in his speech. Oh, God! What an actor, what a man, what a great, great spirit! Already a legend! Love you from the bottom of my heart, Al Pacino!
I have a story about this wonderful person. He was my idol since I was very young. I was in NYC in 1999 for a business function and I heard that Al Pacino was performing on Broadway. I decided to stay an extra night and buy tickets to the the play. It was an amazing experience to see him perform LIVE. One of my favorite aspects of his talent is when he gets very angry and shouts his lines. Let me tell you, he did it several times in this play and I was in awe. Anyway, at the end of the play, I walked out of the theatre and there were plenty of people waiting outside. I realized that even if I decided to join the crowd, I would be nowhere near him as it must have been 10 feet wide either side. There was a car waiting on the street and I , assuming it was his car, approached the driver and asked if there was any way to meet Al as I wanted him to sign the Playbill. The driver told me to walk to the next intersection and if the traffic light turned red, he'd stop the car and Al will sign the Playbill. I didn't have much confidence in what he was saying but I decided to go ahead with his suggestion and walk to the next intersection. Sure enough, the car arrived at the intersection with a red traffic light, I approached the car and the window dropped and Al smiled and signed the Playbill. What a humble and kind human being. I'll never forget that 5 seconds I spent standing next to Al Pacino.
What an actor! What a man! What a human being! Everyone speaking at this ceremony just shared the same thought: he is a humble and honest person. This is by far one of the AFI's best choices ever made.
It’s so weird to me that he’s already into his 80s. I’m young myself, but Pacino wasn’t that old in the 70s, which don’t seem too long ago at all really. Life is short I guess
Nothing more admirable than a humble person, despite their own greatness. My favorite actor. Thank you sir for sharing your talent with us all through your work.
so agree with you, he is such an icon, a star a legend even though he doesnt let that stardom affect him, he is very humble and full of gratitude! that's what I love about him the most, and what to say about his acting work? he a gem, extremely versatile and a true legend.
Amazing , .......Pacino doesn't know how great he is . A shy man, full of insecurities , meek, mild, humble , grateful . Al please know how great you truly are , you leave all the so called "great" actors for dead , and that includes Brando who was very good , but YOU were, and are, ..... even better than him . You are simply the best .
Such an honest, brilliant, great man! I don't have words to describe him. Such humility and modesty is SO rare to find in a man who is a symbol of Classy Hollywood not only in the West but all over the world. No wonder he brings such depth of emotion to his character! He is a class apart indeed! God bless you Al! Lots of love!
You can tell how much Al is LOVED - just by that standing ovation. Even over youtube you can feel that energy He deserves all that & more - just the way he pours his heart into every role making it come alive
Know this is an Actor. Al Pacino the best actor in Hollywood and the World. Love you Al Pacino saw everyone of your movies. No one in Hollywood holds a candle to you.
Sam Rothstein hearing more and more stories from directors about brando... i think he sucked. a diva... gets paid a million a week for 3 weeks shooting Apocalyse Now... he arrives late, overweight, and unprepared (didnt even bother to read Heart of Darkness)..... a million a week. fucking prick. there i said it.
sure, to you, he's the best of all.. to each its own. to be honest i dont know much of brandos work. just a handful, like Apocalypse Now. and of course The Godfather. and he was great in that. i only meant his approach, and how it is for a director and son on. on the other hand..i l admire klaus kinski as an actor, so... what the fuck. goodnight:-)
I can only name a handfull of other actors who come close to Al Pacino's talent. How he can remain so humble after the legendary career he's had is beyond me.
Al knows nothing but acting. He lived and lives for that. You can see him how much he loves acting when someone talks about his acting or he was awarded. His eyes lit up with smile in his face and still humble and feels shy always.
I was blessed beyond measure to see Al Pacino in two plays in New York about 30 years ago. One was a 2 man show, with Ben Gazarra, & the other was Salome. I've never seen anything that comes anywhere close to that kind of incredible talent in person (except when I saw Andrea Bocelli sing -- I think they're a tie! LOL). Pacino was MESMERIZING. This acceptance speech was so genuine & heartfelt & if it's even possible, it made me love Al all the more. Can't believe it's been ten years since this was made, but I'm glad I'm finally seeing it now. :) P.S. I was/am such a fan of Al Pacino that my dog was named Pacino and my cat Serpico. :)
Al is a brilliant and fantastic actor. His personality is unique. Most people don't also acknowledge that he was gifted as a very handsome man, in my humble opinion. Congratulations on a wonderful journey!😊😊
Yes, Al is a brilliant actor. I think he should've been awarded the AFI even earlier than 2007. I mean Tom Hanks got in before Al Pacino. Wtf?! To quote Al in And Justice for All, 'There's something very wrong here! '
Such humility, humbleness, diplomacy and eloquence. One really can't put their finger on what it is about this Master that reaches us. These qualities are so apparent... Yet, Mr Pacino still radiates mystery. This is such a rare combination. Ethereal, yet so present. Absolute LEGEND.
He is so humble. Good that he mentioned FF Coppola. He should mention him even if he didn't talk about his mom, because FF Coppola is the reason that lead him to that stage.
Coppola saw him on off Broadway and in Panic in Needle Park. This inspired him to cast Al. Al delivered, despite resistance from Paramount. Rest is history.
Al Pacino has always pored himself into each roll he's played. I know I'm being entertained when I forget I'm in the theater. This is the caliper of actor that does exactly that.
Al pacino climbed up the ladder of life with great success became a number one amazing actor but still climbed down the ladder and still humble as hell and real
I wish time could stand still. As I see this AL is in his 80’s. He’s the 1 actor I did not be a extra on a film with. To bad we have to age. Love this man’s dedication to his craft.. His first film was “needle in the park” highly recommend it. I think he was maybe 18…
An acceptance speech doesn't get much more genuine than that. A great man and a truly iconic actor.
I could not write a better comment, so I just gave yours a thumbs up. Thanks.

i agree with you, I think how he doesn't have an oscar for serpico, Scarface or dog day ?? godfather 2? how??
True. Al in Dog Day Afternoon missed out on the Oscar to Jack Nicholson for One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.
I don't put any stock in the Oscars choices whatsoever, I think they've awarded some straight up bad performances in the past.

Super humble. The greatest of his generation.
This touches my heart I forgot how much I love Al Pacino as an actor I don't know him personally but he seems like the real thing
He is! One & only.
I join you on saying the same: he's authentic, inside out.
Al is such a humble guy, he's the best ever in my opinion because I've never seen him in his characters, he becomes them completely.
De Niro is better.
M Azzopardi excellent !well said
You brought up an important issue: when an artist is embedded in his character. Al is a master on that. He's humble, genuine, authentic. I love Al.

NOPE. De niro is better.
Disagree. Marlon Brando is the best. De Niro is second and the third one is Al
Phurong I agree, only guy who can top De Niro is Brando.
But Al has more fangirls and hence so many likes on these sort of comments.
Denzel Washington the best
