Oh my flippin' heck this is EXACTLY the way we make this dish in Sunny South Africa! Only difference is we like to use ethically harvested game (springbuck, Kudu, Gemsbok, Warthog etc) but boy is it nutritous and man does it taste good. Hats off to you two this made my mouth water. I saw this meal in so many movies, western movies of which I am really fan, true fan, because that movies are part of my childhood but also because that movies tell us about great courage, brave, determinatión and caracter of the people who build your giant country, giant from ocean to ocean and wild extensions, very hard in that times!. I remember watching "Pat Garrett & Billy The Kid" of Sam Peckinpah, With James Coburn, Kris Kistofersson, Jason Robard, Bob Dylan and others good actors in many scens eating this "estofados" o "Guisos" o "Sancochos" of beans as we call in our long far but brother country in América. I will cook it, I Promise it. My daughter Valentina will love it beacause she loves beans, she grew up in Spain where bean are so popular. Butter beans love this addition . Just made this it’s healthy & filling . Added smoked chili peppers , green pepper & dry rub . Molasses would have been good but I forgot it
I just love you two. I grew up watching you both and me and my husband watched you early in our marriage. You both are so wholesome, and genuine. We actually got to meet you both one time at the farm machinery show in Louisville. We were starstruck lol. Thank you for your recipes. We have tried several over the years. In Canada, I guess our cowboys were frenchies…. We, I use smoked and cured pork hocks, and bacon, no beef. It’s better. Know why? Pigs can’t run as fast as cows. Lol.
