I forgot to take a picture of my baked beans, using your recipe. Cooked them for a picnic of 50 people, and they were all gone. Several people asked for the recipe. Thanks so much for your recipe. God Bless!
Made these tonight and they definitely did not disappoint. Could only find Bush Honey baked ( Canada) so cut the brown sugar in half and substituted ground beef for ground hot Italian but these turned out dynamite. Wife says they were the best smoked beans yet, and that’s saying something. Thanks for the excellent recipe!
Holy cow, I’ve just made these bean accordingly and MAN what a success. Everyone at the barbecue wanted the recipe. These pitbeans rule!!! Greetings from Sweden

Delicious. My changes, no peppers due to someone's allergies. I had a maple chipoltle sauce and another brands regular sauce. I also had pulled pork thawed from the freezer instead of the beef. There was not much left. YUM
I make something very similar, but i use hot sauage, green & red bell peppers, jalapeños in mine. They are really good on top of some nice chedderwurst or brats lol
Thomasons Barbque here in Henderson, KY sell thousands of pounds of their bq baked beans. I always get several pounds for any large meal I attend. It has pork, some mutton and it’s always delicious.

I like to cut open bratwurst and cook it like ground meat and put that in the beans with diced up bell peppers and jalapeño .. black pepper and a squirt of mustard..
Looks awesome. I've never tried the hamburger. I've always fried up a pound of bacon and and added it(crumbled up of course) and the grease to my beans. The rest of your recipe is very similar to my own recipe.. I'm going to give yours a try though 😃
Noooo, not ground beef! Gotta be well seasoned ground sausage, mild or hot. But it's your UA-cam channel. Very similiar to the way my mother used to make baked beans for family cookouts and gatherings. My dad always served baked beans like this for lunch when he invited a bunch of friends to the place for Saturday afternoon dove shoots. Just in time for Fall here in the south. Just subscribed! 👍👍
I have been cooking for over 50 years... even professionally. and YOU just now put my Baked Beans to shame. Thank you... Teachin' an old dog new tricks...
You can absolutely do this in a crockpot! The overall cook time will change. Would probably cook a lot quicker in a crockpot, but you can let them simmer for hours on low.
I've browned hamburger, dumped a can of Bush original bean in it, and eat it like that. Sometimes a squirt of ketchup and sometimes Parmesan cheese if I have it.
OK, the green pepper transforms them into genuine silent but deadly squeaker pooter beans, it just slips out nothing you can do. You are now a semi pro crop duster.😂😂😂
Of course this is a personal choice but I found alternating between green and red, yellow, orange bells important when deciding which seasons and sauces to use. Green is definitely a more powerful flavor and can overwhelm some seasons. 💫 “the more you know”
Didn't say old school is the best way. Showcasing an old school style recipe and how I like to make baked beans. Change the recipe and make it your own.
Well, yes, beans themselves can be given more flavor with all these other ingredients. (I’ve commented on the chili videos about how beans themselves aren’t required to give the chili flavor.)
I did this exact recipe and it was way too sweet. If I do this recipe again I will either do a lot less brown sugar or just cut it out all together. It was basically candied beans.
I know I’ll get death threats but I think we use too much sugar in beans and bbq sauce. Once it evaporates it’s even sweeter. You have so many great flavors working together in this recipe, you could leave off most of the brown sugar and still have award winning beans.
Add whatever you like to yours. We added in our Brown Sugar Honey Habanero Glaze which adds a little backend heat. This recipe had a good mix of savory, sweet, and a little heat.

Made this but with Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce, jalapeño instead of green bell pepper, & added +/- 3 shots of good bourbon. FANTASTIC!👍

Yes please! I'll take two bowls! ASAP!

Baked bean “ juice “ is the best part 🥹 I can’t throw it away
I drained the juice because the brown sugar liquifies and I did not want to have too much liquid in them.
Awesome job and recipe Heath! I’ll definitely give these a try! I’ll need to hit your website and score your glaze and your sauce!

Personally, brown sugar is a must for me in baked beans. Totally up to the person making it.
I agree with you. Cut the brown sugar and bbq sauce in half. The beans already have plenty of sugar in the can.
I agree. I cut way back on the sugar because of my diabetes. However that pan of baked beans looks 🤤
Got to have the brown sugar
Use sugar free sugar if your diabetic 😊
how would I do these on a Weber Kettle?
Definitetly indirect. Just run the kettle at 250.
Indirect, similar temp, stir often
These beans look awesome, but being a diabetic, the beans would send me into a diabetic coma!! LOL
Totally understand. Can always substitute sugar-free ingredients!
Only thing missing is a little molasses. I love molasses in my beans.
Might have to give that a try next time.
Muy RICO

Haha brown sugar is the key to some good baked beans, in my opinion. Can always use less or substitute.
Hey Heath add a can of Rotel after draining the juice and then it will take this recipe over the top.

It's more like a chili?
No, not a chili. No tomatoes, chili seasoning, Completely different taste.

Totally up to you. There's so many pellets out there to use. I like to use Royal Oak.
