I always save my bacon fat in a jar and use it for frying. Eggs, potatoes, onions... highly recommend. I appreciate these videos for being short and sweet!
@Kitchensanctuary Anything cooked in bacon fat is good! Try green beans. Parboil them, then put them in a pan with bacon grease. Even brown them a little. Extremely good! Sometimes I add almonds. Very yummy!
Really easy to make but very tasty. Nice coupled with your way to cook baked potatoes. Love your channel and cooked several of your recipes. Not found one I haven't loved let alone only liked. Keep up the great channel. Much appreciated. 👍☺ I also added a spoonful of chipolte paste.
Looks very good, and very simple. I'm going to make these with a smoked brisket and some coleslaw for a tailgating at an NDSU Bison football game this weekend! Can't wait to try them!
@Kitchensanctuary Oh you need to! Grilling, smoking, bbq, games, all kinds of crazy fun stuff! We have people that build decks on wheels and bring them! Fake palm trees (only in North Dakota!) potted shrubs & flowers around the portable decks! At the beginning of the season when it's still warm enuf we even have people that bring blow up swimming pools and fill them the night before! You have not lived until you have tailgated with the herd of the North Dakota State University Bison! 🦬 Feel the thunder!!
I’ve done a couple of your recipes, and this one is just as delicious. I made a batch earlier today for dinner but to have a small bowl, just for quality assurance purposes. I can see this becoming a firm favourite in my house!! Thank you.😊
Wow, I’ve just found your website! Absolutely brilliant. I’ve loved and enjoyed your recipes here on UA-cam for years and only just ventured onto your website. Such a good site.
Made this tonight Nicky, with half measures and it still made three generous portions. I only added a small measure of chili powder to spice it up a touch, it was very tasty. Thanks. 👍
Made this last night, had you tube on while I was making it so could follow you exactly. This dish was delicious and went down very well with my family, all want it again 😋.
Wow, they look really hearty. Will have a go at the weekend. Must admit though, the first thing I thought of when I saw the video title was that really funny sequence in the film, Blazing Saddles, where the cowboys all eat too many beans!. Enough said 😅
Looks great, I might try it but using different beans. I used to love those Heinz baked beans, but when I moved to the USA, I couldn't find them here for many years. When I did find them I found they were really sweet and I didn't enjoy them anymore.
I'm a huge baked bean fan, butter never buy Heinz. The price is now ridiculous and every supermarket has beans at a fraction of the cost, and far tastier sauce. U.K. based, by the way.
Absolutely love your recipes. Can we have more for the slow cooker please. Also I can’t use heavy based pans on my hob so not sure how to get around it x
That recipe is SOOOOOOOO close to one I saw from these American guys on TikTok just within the last few days ... just saying ... either way ... they both look delicious ...
Thank you, I'm glad you like it. Just so you know, we filmed this on 7th September, photographed it on 13th August and wrote and tested it prior to that. Each of our recipes go through a process of testing, photographing, filming and editing. We don't knock up a video in a few days by copying someone else.
Yes you can, make the dish, cool quickly, separate into portions and freeze in airtight containers. Defrost overnight in the refrigerator and reheat in a pan over a medium heat, stirring occasionally until piping hot throughout. You may need to loosen it up a with a little splash of water when reheating.
You make great videos and present so well and I do enjoy them, but sadly too much salt in this one for me. Easily reduced by using plain cannellini beans plus tomato paste, leave out the dijon in favour of a good pinch of dry mustard or white pepper, and replace the bbq sauce with a teaspoon of chipotle paste. Sorry for barging in!
Sounds good, but after being diagnosed with high blood pressure, I'm reading the sodium content of EVERYTHING, and canned baked beans (anything canned) are THE worst. Would be nice if you did this recipe with dried beans.
Low sodium baked beans only have 55mg sodium per 1/2 cup. This is nearly 90% less sodium than traditional baked beans. Dried beans, peas, and lentils - like black beans and garbanzo beans (chickpeas), canned beans labeled “no salt added” or “low sodium” - rinse them off to remove some of the sodium. The video is fine. It's up to you to make your changes for your needs.
Any kind of bean you want...black, white, pinto, kidney etc. just soak them overnight and cook till soft....plenty of videos showing how to make beans. Start with 2 cups dry beans, should be good for this recipe

Organic bacon fat is fine. The other stuff is full of nitrites & chemicals from the curing process & the pigs sad life.
With winter on the way, this looks heavenly Nicky😋. Thank you!

I made this. It's great. And you could have it on it's own or with rice, or pasta or potatoes in any way. Very versatile.
Thank you
Yes, I’d have it with rice too - or poured over a buttered baked potato. Yum!
I am definitely going to give this one a try. Very warming on a cold winter's day.
Hope you enjoy it!

Nice idea
some awesome ingredients there Nicky :)
I chopped up 5 green chillies and added 😋
I bet after affect will be same as with cowboys in a scene from the 1974 film Blazing Saddles 😆😆

Hi Nikky I love your videos ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
Aww thank you so much
We also call this BAKED BEANS in the US-- We bake it for about an hour or so and let it all come together. This is very commonly served at BBQs.
Yes Chris Loved BBQ beans but he likes to cook them over open fire, these would work great on the BBQ too.
Use the beef stock to get the last of the beans out and clean the tins.
Good tip 👍
Stylish Cooking...... cowboy beans
Thank you 😊
"reserve" bacon? No such thing 😂🥓😋
LOL
🤠👍🏼 🐴 yee haw!
Could you make this with dried kidney beans instead of Heinz beans
😋
If I use fresh mince is it possible to freeze this dish , should I decide to batch cook ? Cheers

@@Kitchensanctuary fantastic, thankyou
Amazing
Skip the barbeque sauce, then add chilli powder, cumin, some dark chocolate and, voila, a delicious chili con carne.
Bacon makes everything taste better well most things anyway.
Best served between 2 slices of thick sliced uncut bread with butter, say margarine and your dead to me😂😂😂😂😂
@@steveharbinson3944 ya because of a hart attack lol , but I would rather die happy over healthy.
That's exactly what my husband Chris says 🥓 😋 😂
@@Tankeryanker339 just had the chicken with mushrooms in a creamy sauce, plenty of cream, my sort of cardio🤪🤪🤪🤪😋😋💙💙💙💙💙
This looks amazing especially with some grated strong cheddar can it be portioned off and frozen?
All that ingredients would have made a very delicious chili con carne mmmm:-)
Add sweetcorn?
Sure why not
It looks wonderful, but your accent is not Texan😂 but the beans for sure cowboy beans👍😋😋😋👌🥂
Her accent is lovely though.
@misterhat5823 Lancashire, I believe. Melanie Sykes, Boddingtons advert. On UA-cam. One of the best accents in the Uk.
Don’t misunderstand me I do like her accent And her beans🤣😋
Not enough bacon! 😂
LOL
lawsy
5 cans of beans makes it expensive for a bean dish - can we have a dried bean recipe please?
Expensive? Seriously?
@@paul756uk2 for a bean dish, yes! The whole point of beans is they're a cheap staple sidedish - why spend £8 when dried beans cost pennies?
@@paul756uk2If you're using a top brand name like Heinz, then yes, ridiculously expensive.
I use supermarket own labels, not a more expensive well known brand.
And a dash of hot sauce to spice it up a bit!
@@paul756uk2Yes Bud, those Heinz beans are about £2 a pop in the UK!!
