absolutely .. i dont know if this is true .. but i saw somewhere, mentioned , that his dad was in the audience and that was the first time he had done that, ..so i can inderstand why,, he prob would show him, how good he is ... and i think it is his BEST performance ever ... not even gonna mention the rest of the band, bc this is just TOP NOTCH all over

Dire Straits on fire! I think Mark Knopfler is one of the best guitar players ever. I agree what you say about the drummer Terry Williams. What an energy he has! I suggest you listen to "Telegraph road" from the same album.

They're absolutely brilliant. But Mark sings " make his guitar cry or sing". How true he truly does make it cry or sing and it's just so beautiful it does bring tears of joy listening and watching it.

The drummer's dad was in the audience to see his son for the first time and wanted to put on a show. His dad said before the show he wanted to see what his son really did to buy that fancy house and car and making sure its legal
This drummer is fantastic
When the lyrics stopped you expect the story of an evening with the Sultans to end but it continues to tell us of the rest of their story and ambition with just the music.
This was probably the video that had the closet reaction to how I feel when I hear the song.

Dear woman don't apologize for not knowing something please. There's no way you could know everything. You make me proud that a young person likes the music I grew up with and love to much. You melt this old man's cold heart with your smile plus the way you really get into the music. When your really into a song you glow so brightly. And this is a true pleasure to watch. My hope and dream is that other young folks follow in your foot steps so that great music such as this never is allowed to die and be lost forever. This is merely my opinion. And folk's please be nice and gentle with this sweet lady. She deserves the utmost respect. She is also very sensitive this is one way she can truly experience the music because it touches deep down in her soul. I'm very proud of her. When she is into a good song. Her smile is infectious. It's like a ray of sunshine for everyone to see. I really do hope more and more young people can follow her example. Stay safe everybody.

It's always best to hear the original studio version first to give you a point of reference.
Dire Straits live is another level. The dynamics are so powerful and sometimes that gets lost in the album recordings.

I doubt there has ever been a more perfect guitar solo ever.. your reaction certainly reflected that.. Mark absolutely nailed it... all finger picking.. From 1983... still & maybe my most favorite live performances ever. You have to see it to believe it I thin.. I certainly love the live version 100x more than the studio version.

OMG!! So much to say to you Joy-Jean....I did not see your first "reaction". In the 1960's (I'm 76), when there was only AM stations playing Rock, the songs were never more than 2 to 2 1/2 minutes long. Then in January 1967 an album by "The Doors" was released. It contained the song "Light My Fire". The song was 7 minutes 6 seconds long. Unfortunately, no AM stations wanted to play such a long song (due to commercials). So a mini version was released at 2 minutes 52 seconds long to satisfy radio stations. Very rarely did any stations play the long version. So I think this practice has continued to this day. The short version of Sultans was released in 1978. You would have had no way of knowing about this live performance from 1983. Now, I truly LOVED your genuine, emotional reaction to this all time classic!!!! I do have a strong suggestion though. STOP cutting off the video. It was very annoying!!! Stop using the tiny little mini video screen picture. Increase the size (actually, the 1/2 you and 1/2 Video screen was the best I've seen on any Reaction sites). Again, thanks for sharing your reaction, it was fabulous!!!

You owe no one an apology, if anyone is owed an apology it's you. For us of a certain age we know about this because we lived it but no one should expect a young lady such as yourself to know anything about a band who disbanded before you were born and if they do that's their issue and definitely not yours. I am lucky enough to have seen Dire Straights live and like a lot of older bands they are built for the stage not the studio with the crowd feeding off their energy and they feed off the crowd to lift music to a different level so the fact that you got that type of emotion nearly 35 years after this concert goes to show how good the music and how amazingly open you are to allow yourself to be free. Remember this is your channel and no one should make you feel upset on it xxx. Keep strong and lots of love from Scotland x.

When people get upset over small things like the wrong video, don't take that personally. They're just having a bad day and it's spilling over onto you. Don't give it another thought. Also, I really like how you've edited your video to avoid violating copyright. It keeps us abreast of where you are in the video without showing us enough of the video to matter.

Alchemy live, you can find it CD or this fancy new steaming thing. I'd advise to get the DVD & watch the show. Always was sorry I never got to see them live.
