Ouch, this is fking great ! Eddie's old crunchy voice + Mike Watt's greasy bass sound and Grohl kicking hard on his kick and snare like he was doing with Nirvana
Well, this is from 95. Just a year after Kurt passed away, so i think Dave was still very much the same Nirvana drummer. Almost seemed like Eddie was trying to sing more like Kurt instead of use his usual singing voice.
@@makersmike2959 this was Eddie’s natural way of singing from 93-98, it was heard during their second album. dude screamed his ass off in the 90s post Ten era. Then the 2000’s hit and his singing changed again
His vs. to no code voice is amazingly haunting. And hard to imitate now, all the footage of 1995 he almost seems cynical/angry. He spits on the floor here...he does similar things in other videos. Before that they were the most polite, well behaved people. Its raw emotions. Not the wobbly 92/93 Eddie anymore. But the albums are amazing.
Talk about energy, here's the best example of 3 musicians going All The Rage Mode. It's incredible how a Pearl Jam song sounds so different when you add our favorite Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl, and Mike Watt's killer bass playing. Man that was absolutely kick ass.
it's like watching Nirvana. that was great! hate to say it, but I get every Pearl Jam record now as it sounds like Eddie was searching for this sound ever since this tour.
Damn besides Dave Abbruzzese, Dave Grohl would've been an excellent fit for Pearl Jam. I understand that the PJ doesn't want to be a fully drum driven band like Dave A did (as Dave Grohl would've) but damn, i kinda wish they took Dave Grohl for a short while and just pick up Jack Irons a couple of years later. Dave Grohl's energy matches PJ intensely, something Jack and Matt wouldn't be able to. But kudos to Jack Irons, his psychedelic antics somehow found a groove fitting to the band although losing the energy side...
Totally agree! Dave A. was so versatile and gave PJ a unique sound. They lost that variety totally with Matt Cameron. But Dave Grohl is more of a egocentric guy, he wanted to do his own stuff, be his band etc. Jack Irons was also great !
Pearl Jam fans talking about drummers are so insufferable lmao. Man is seriously pretending that world class drummers like jack irons and matt cameron aren’t energetic. Y’all are deluded
@@Casherr93 Yo! thanks man , thanks for the response. Makes total sense. Wow is new to hear that that particular song was written so long before the album came out. this is one of the best bands ever. they just needed a better songwriter and a better guitar player. Grohl and Watt though, could you ask for a better rhythm section?
This is terrible. I am a HUGE Pearl Jam fan too. Like…exclusively PJ and only PJ. This is an absurd amount of racket. If Eddie saw this now he would grab his notebook and storm out in disgust.
Crazy how dave plays a pearl jam song with his classic nirvana style
Yet it is a really unknown gem
Can we appreciate how good this live sounds !!!???
bass way too loud in the mix, so no😅
Still can't believe this is a hidden gem in 2022
Yes! Always loved this song....but this is extra grimy and heavy and filthy. It's perfect lol.
2023, almost 2024 right here lol 🤘 represent timeless music 💙
Thank god!
Eddie is one of the best leadsingers of rockandRoll history.
Awesome range for a bariton

Perfect description friend! Love Ed, but FUCK that youthful voice was just on a different level.

This voice! Power on drums. All I miss
Eddies voice... just amazing...
Mike watt brilliant bassist, one of my best
Jell yeah
This is brilliant . They should have put out an ep or Demo it something
Daniel Harris look up Mike Watt on Spotify
This whole show was released as Ring Spiel Tour ‘95. Recorded at the Metro in Chicago
It is
Old school Vedder vocals. Fucking miss those. Saw PJ in 96, about a year from this. Was equally amazing.

Great!!! Almost didn't recognize Eddie
I remember watching this 10 years ago! Maybe by a different YT Channel.
God how I loved this version. ❤
Super Legendary!!!
This version sounds Grunge af compared to Habit on No Code
Aguante el Sr Vedder !!!!
The perfect PJ song for Dave to pay drums on.
I miss the old eddie that spits on the floor .
Old Testament Eddie Vedder
Still does that constantly
Mike Watt's bass sound to other bassists is like a fat, juicy London broil to a dry, fastfood burger.
Could you Imagine if this ending was the ending on No Code. Happy Birthday Mike Watt!
Cedric is awesome! The peacefulness...
Motherfucking holy shit this is phenomenal!!! 🤘🤘🤘
Awesome
XOXO!! AMAZING!
Sounds like Watt is playing numerous wrong notes, but it's kinda like "fuck yeah, I'm off, so what!".
“To miss a note is irrelevant, to play without passion is inexcusable”
It sure does sound like he’s playing wrong notes.
Fuckin' brilliant!!!!

I lost all interest in Pearl Jam after they fired Dave A. Every Gen X drummer loved his playing and Pearl Jam has never been the same band.

Matt is a much more versatile drummer than Dave A. Just compare their bodies of work, it is pretty obvious who uses a wider sound palette.
I like Dave A. Pearl Jam the best
Pearl Jam fans talking about drummers are so insufferable lmao. Man is seriously pretending that world class drummers like jack irons and matt cameron aren’t energetic. Y’all are deluded
He sounded a lil bit like Kurt on this one.
This one's much better than the record!
I love you fucking geniuses ❤

Dat bass
THAT.
You don’t see too many Lead Bassists out there like how Watt does it.
1995 ? this song came out with the No code album two years later? anyone has any info on the history of this song?
Yup, eddie was working on no code songs since like 94, also there is a video here in yt of brain of j (from their album yield of 1998) live in 1995
