Pearl Jam was one of my husband's favorite bands. The songs remind me of so many different times of our life since we were basically kids. I got him concert tickets for gifts whenever I could, and many memories there. He died suddenly the week he turned 45. So many nights I just listen to Eddie's voice because it brings me back and makes me feel my husband's close. I also make our kids listen to all the music, telling them what was Dad's favorites.
so sorry...glad your kids can get a connection to their father through music. my father is a musician, my two oldest sons are as well...so the connection of music runs through my family . it is a great way for your kids to learn about their father...kudos to you for being an awesome wife and mom.....
My son died and it still hurts and always will Pearl Jam’s song “The End” comforts somehow
So sorry for your loss Cindy. ♥
Thank you for your kind words Michael. Grief definitely is nothing we can prepare for.
Music has that innate ability to tap into the essence of who we were, are, and it’s like the songs take on new meaning in time if we allow them to. I realize the constant bittersweet sadness and comfort mixed you must experience with the music, but it’s like someone “there” for you. To give you solace and strength on long nights and tough mornings. Pearl Jam, to me, is life affirming. The music has lifted me out of so much darkness and continues to. Your husband’s beauty will always live within your memories, your kids, and the heart of the music that can still carry you throughout life. I’m truly sorry for what you’ve endured and hope you can keep rediscovering that beauty through the music.
This is a perfect example of why music is so powerful, cherish it. I’m sorry for your loss. I’m glad you have music to keep you close with your memories.
Vedder is one of a kind, dude is a legend. Him & Cornell are in a league of their own.
His voice is so good . So distinct. ❤❤
I remember when Bruce wouldn’t give interview to anybody, and now he’s interviewing other Rock stars.
I guess if you live long enough you’ll see everything
I love these two, so cool
I met eddie surfing in 1993 and talked to him briefly as i too was surfing and what a great earthling this guy is. He interacted with my two border collies and shook my hand with that smile of his snd we went out separate ways. Not once did i think wow thee eddie vedder of Pearl Jam surfing with me it was so low key and down to earth. This is an awesome album that solidifies my belief that this guy is a natural lyrist and musician. Ill never forget that early fall day as long as i live.
"where did the earthlings come from? Is it a science question?"
his explanation of the title is amazing, but this quote is hilarious
My god, I could listen to these two talk all night and all day long. This is beautiful.
I love these two men so much. This video could have been 2 or 3 hours long and I’d still want more.
So right!
Infinite Gifted Talent Spilleth over these two Earthlings!
they are untouchable!
This discussion elevates the album for me. Love it.
Yes! Especially the last song for me.
You can see how much Eddie respects Bruce and the 90's not-grunge artists by the way he talks and looks at him... Eddie is the best. Gotta love this man!
It makes you feel special to know that you're alive when Springsteen & Vedder have shared, are sharing and will continue to share their beautiful art. I don't know them personally, but I love them both very much.
They’re liberal hacks with brutal voices
@@pgaquigz1125 your comment must really make you feel special
@@pgaquigz1125 anybody who isn’t a white supremacist is a “liberal hack.” Have fun listening to Kid Rock, right wing d-bag.
They share millions of dollars and the ability to make others think they don’t fly on private jets. Fake.
@@TheJimohio I guess I missed the part where either of them said “I’m not rich.”
The Boss and the BassBaritone! Amazing songwriters, great performers, passionate voices of our times.
Simply amazing.
Two of the artists of my lifetime.
Sad.. one is good and Springsteen is an overrated hack
@@VictorLugosi non e sopravalutato! 😲😲😕
My mom has such a crush on both these talented men, so the fact that they're good friends makes it so much better for her. I got her a Bruce Springsteen magazine for mother's day and I grew up with her Eddie Vedder CDs on in the car, so it's very sentimental for both of us~
Bruuuuuuuuuuuce!! I remember seeing Springsteen at Wrigley Field in Chicago. Eddie came out and surprised the crowd for a couple songs. The crowd went insane. LOVE Eddie! It was such a great concert. It started to pour down rain and Bruce and the E Street Band never stopped playing. Hands down one of the best concerts I've ever attended. Four of the top five concerts...out of all artists I've seen in my life...are Bruce. There's nothing like it, life changing if you're in the pit near the stage. It's magic. If you're wondering who is #5...it was Prince.
My biggest regrets for live music is not seeing Prince or Floyd. Hit to see The Boss a few times and couldn't agree more. Ed is definately following in his footsteps. Thanks the powers for these two song writers, and ENTERTAINERS! BRUCE and the Jungleland vocals is probably the most powerful thing I've ever heard live.
What a beautiful conversation. Adore Eddie Vedder. He's a truly beautiful soul, not to mention extremely gifted! Just two great poets/songwriters having a down to earth heart to heart. Grateful to be a fly on the wall for this one. Thank you!
OmG !! This was just an incredible interview ! The stories about Tom ,Petty , the horses ! , getting a record with his fathers voice ! Each story was amazing ! And I love hearing the 2 greatest songwriters of all time discuss writing songs !
This isn’t Paul McCartney and John Lennon.
2 legends!! And Eddie is a big inspirator for many songwriters.
He is a big thinker like many creative people.
He sounds pretty stupid in this interview,
@@juliosanchez95 Your reply sounds Very stupid.
Ed and Bruce....2 greats with a lot of mutual respect for each other.
Sometimes beautiful moments happen in our boring lives 😉...this is one of those moments. Thank you both 💖
Man, incredible album Eddie. Keep writing and recording and sharing your insights, we’ll be here listening and we’re lucky to have you ✊😎
Can’t thank the cosmos for giving us vedder in our time… love you my brother my teacher…. Thanks for the album at this time needed it badly… helps me, strengthens me when I hear new work from Vedder
Cringeworthy comment
I'm happy to see the interview uploaded to Ed's page. Excellent interview but about 1/2 hr too short. A lot of fun listening to these two talk 🎶🎶💙🎶🎶
Eddie's warmth & humanity simply powerfully grow up with time. Amazing thing. His mature musical generosity matches up with his enormous talent. Can't find a better man. Nor vocalist. Wondrous Eddie Vedder🌹"Iinvincible when we love". Amazing stuff!!! ❣️💔
I am such a fan of Eddie Vedders .. He writes such great music

Bruce is such a great interviewer. So at ease. Like having an everyday conversation over the kitchen table.
Thanks for your compliment
What a wonderful, insightful, moving conversation between two close friends. Thank you for allowing us all the be part of it.
💜 Thank you fellow Earthlings for this great conversation and so much insight in a great album and so much more! Your father is very proud of you Eddie.
I appreciate the depth of their conversation, the stories behind the songs and the appreciation for the process. I have so much respect for both artists and love their music. Their songs have been part of my journey.
Two legends sharing an incredible moment with the rest of us. It brings tears to my eyes. What an incredible story of Eddie’s. ❤️ I appreciate them both so much. Their talent is off the charts.
This was so authentic thank you boys - Bruce you bring so much warmth to your questions man you have a 2nd career as a journalist :) thanks for framing Ed’s new album in the light it deserves. Beautiful interview! Cheers.
Wow! Eddie Vedder & Bruce Springsteen two of the World's greatest music talents together in one room! 🔥🤩🤟🏼🎸👏🏽🎙🎼 💯🐐❤🕺😁
Thank You for this album especially for "Invincible"💖wishing You lots of love ❣️
What a lovely conversation! So beautiful about Ed putting his father's recording on the On My Way. So beautiful.
Thank you for putting it out here, too!
This is a beautiful and touching interview by these two legends. The stories and inspiration behind Eddie's record are truly great, and the Story about him when He got down to Venice absolutely floored me. This is what makes great artists and human experience alike. Thank you. Both are so down to earth. Bless you, both.
Just an incredible powerful conversation interview call it what you want you could just feel how comfortable they were talking to each other telling stories just amazing I could watch this for hours great great stuff
AMAZING!!!!!! LOVE THESE TWO!!!! 💖
That was awesome!! So much love & respect between those 2 legends.
Love the album, great interview by two living legends, loved the part about Eddie's father ❤️
Two men talking about life , music and emotions. Both just happen to be amazing musicians.
aahhh - I dont think the Boss likes anyone else chiming in on his songs.
@@dantheman1534the boss lol
Pearl Jam has a place among legends because their songs speak to generations to come. Timeless. Eddie you're the man
Eddie has always been great with interviews unlike some of the others especially when they are younger who just hate talking about their albums and all that but the trick to really getting great interviews is getting legends to interview other bands then it becomes way more serious and you gain so much info on that album. It's just good to see other legends willing to talk with others and interview them but I think more of these should be done and with Bruce. He's great and I know why it's great is because they get each other and respect each other for their talents. When Pearl Jam first hit the scene it was my cousin's favorite band. He was playing baseball and took a dive for thirdbase and he broke his toe and hip. He was 14. They took him in to get scans and he ended up with a rare kind of bone cancer. His make a wish was to finish up his old truck him and his dad was working on for the last few years a classic truck and to see Pearl Jam. When Make a wish contacted Eddie and the others they sent him a copy of the unreleased next album which ended up being Vitology that was coming out that year in 94 the same year he found out and he was given 15 months which he almost made it to but Eddie paid his way to see them and kept up with him sending him all kinds of music stuff until he passed in 96 and I'll never forget that because he surely didn't have to do any of that. They spoke on the phone often and it really made his life special. 22 years later I ended up being dx with two primary cancers squamous cell carcinoma that spread to my bones (terminal) and endometrial cancer. I was 43 year's old and given 12 months in Dec 2017. I had less than 1% chance of remission and less than that for survival for 3 years and somehow I made it to remission even though most of my life is in bed which is very hard for me because I've always been a runner and loved outdoors like surfing, dancing, gymnastics etc but I think to myself I still get to hear new music every day which back then you didn't unless you went to the record store and listened or brave enough to download limewire coming up soon. It just makes you feel a certain way when you're faced with death and life becomes completely different, lyrics change their meaning even if you know that's not what the song is about it no longer matters because it's what's going on in your life right then and that music can literally help you survive the next day. Music is very powerful and I do feel the vibrations can help your mind zone out and help just like getting 6 hours of 3 of the strongest chemo medicines at one time. We are not making it out of life alive so no matter what's thrown at you add long as you can find an outlet to help you make it to the next day you're doing something amazing when fighting death.
youre absolutely right that musicians talking to other musicians brings out so much more depth in these interviews. love it
Great interview. Great guys. New music sounds good. Love Eddie. I'm still a huge Pearl Jam fan. Listen to TEN on a regular basis. Glad to see these men happy and healthy with beautiful families.
I love revisiting the bands of my youth and hearing them all speak so openly about a time that meant so much to me. It allows me to take one more walk down memory lane with them, for that, I thank you.
So helpful to understand you a bit more, than only to know your music. A great und helles Interview mit Bruce! What a moment for you two. Be blessed, my friend! Allemagna greets everyone here! Raphael
Loved it, thank you! And what an incredible voice...
Bruce looks so good i don't understand how he aged so beautifully. And wow I did not expect to cry during this. When he said the reverse, when we don't have love, how quickly shit can fall apart...that hits home as someone who is unloved without a community / support system. I appreciate him seeing both sides of this. Also wow, that's a wild story about meeting his dad's best friend recently and hearing his records. Wow. What are the odds
you are loved because I love you.
Two of the best ..
I love this man.
Amazing interview between two amazing, wonderful human beings. Thank you, Grateful for both of you.
26:01 “Normal is not in the cards for musicians...” No truer words have ever been spoken! Thank you, Bruce! 😂🤷🏼♂️✌️
Beautiful.
Thoroughly enjoyed that, gentlemen! Thanks! Have to stream, Earthling, as the little clips you played sounded wonderful!
There are few that can encompass, collaborate, and expand with humility. Ed encapsulates growth, art and life in one breathe. Tones of the past, mixtures of the present, so open and honest. I personally feel proud, and blessed to have followed him and pearl Jam since 1991. From TOTD to the different benefit concerts, to the evolution of PJ, to EV on his own, from harmonicas to ukes to soundtracks. Inspiring to say the least. He always seems to quantify and qualify .. love. I am a life long fan and forever better for Eds and PJs contribution to humanity. This interview is one of the best. Easy and real. Cheers fellow Earthlings.
I absolutely love this interview!! Eddie is one of my favorite human beings on this planet!! That was amazing!! I ❤️ Eddie Vedder!! Thank you for sharing this awesome video, I laugh I cried, 😊💓🤘✌️
awww, I always see you in videos about Eddie then we are two fans of him💗
Yep, notice Laura's comments all the time. When she hasn't commented I find myself thinking, 'where's Laura?' ✌️
Do you know Eddie?
@@jeff7764 no I don't know Eddie, I would love to meet him. I am a huge fan of Eddie and Pearl Jam since the beginning 1991. My favorite band on this crazy planet. 😊🩷🤟✌️
@@laurawatters914 I met him at a show in Philadelphia in 2005, we were tailgating in the parking lot and he was riding a pedal bike in kind of a disguise and stopped and asked us for a beer and not to make a big scene because he didn’t want mobs of fans rushing him. It was a pretty surreal moment in my life
Love listening to this conversation ❤
2 fabulous voices...
Eddie 🤤🥰🙏👑👑
Peace and Love. Thank you both.
This is so special thanks for shearing!
What an amazing discussion!
Two music legends. ❤
Love it! Cannot wait for my copy.
I am a Big, Huge Eddie Vedder fan!! I love his music, long time listener!!
Class acts and legends
Love this!!!
Incredible interview!! Album of the Year!! 🔥🔥🔥 Can't stop playing it❤
Absolutely agree with Bruce about the Tom Petty sound on Long Way. But it makes perfect sense with Eddies wisdom that sometimes we write what we need to hear. More so than any other artist recently, Tom Petty's loss is heard in music today. It was too soon for him and his music had flourished through generations of people providing a soundtrack to almost 40 years of music listeners. Undeniably distinctive voice that you know as soon as you hear it. His songwriting style was equally as distinctive as Eddie has proven with Long Way. Not my favorite on the album, thats Good and Evil (could've been on Vitalogy), but an amazing song on an amazing album.
Damn, where was my invitation Into that kitchen? Especially with two of my favorite musicians. A very intelligent conversation between friends.
two icons in one frame! thank you, its very uplifting
I love how much Eddie focuses on Love and Hope. Thank you.
Oh that was wonderful. Thank you. And I love the new album! Start to finish, it's a pleasure to listen to.
I love Bruce and Eddie pretty cool to see a conversation with two like minds and get the great insight into the album and can’t wait to listen to it all the way through very cool
Two of the best. Thanks for the video
Holy cow that was powerful to hear that story about his father and have happy ending to the story of the song Alive after all these years, God I’m choked up.
Two stand up guys. Thank you for sharing ✌🏼💛 thank you so very much. From me a 57 yo man from Tahlequah Oklahoma. 🍷cheers
If you ever feel like ending it all and giving up, listen to Pearl Jams song " Given to Fly " before you go. Dance and think about the gift of life and grace that was given to you. You still have not met all of the people that will love you in your life. It is a beautiful beloved spiritual song. Whether you are are a believer or not , it touches the soul . Great interview/ collaboration of two artists.
Love the fact he's wearing an 'Easy Street Records' T-shirt! -one of the best record stores on the planet!
Beatiful!!! Fantastic!! Thank you!
I've loved his voice for 30 years, including his speaking voice. Damn he's got a deep voice.... He makes me sick....stupidhandsomeawesomesinger.... I love you man (and Pearl Jam of course).
Love from Wales, many of my family, friends and me. Thanks man.

Eddie is a precious man, heart of gold
A useful idiot of big pharma.
I sat on a driftwood log with Eddie Vedder back around 93’. He was chilling at beach near SF all by himself with his surfboard taping the waves with an 8mm camera. I wondered up from behind him to see what was up… then recognized him and said “Holy shit…. Your Eddy Vedder. I was listening to your tape on the way here!”
He was mellow and took time to answer the questions flowing from my 12 year old brain. He even talked about recording their 2nd album with me. One of best moments of my life.
I met Bruce and he’s very down to earth and cool like that it’s a great feeling when you meet the person behind the music that inspires you and gives you hope and they are amazing to talk to and make you fee like you belong in that moment it’s everything and more especially the memory you get to carry forever that’s very cool brother I’m glad that happened for you
@@randallreid424 Well said. Glad to hear that Bruce was as cool as he seems. Cheers
Wow...you've met an icon. What a memorable moment that've must been. Keeps you grounded and at ease sometimes in live, I reckon.
That’s such a cool story man
Woah!! Crazy and so cool to see two of my favourite musicians together ❤
Amazing video... amazing album. Dos maestros. Love it! Thanks!!!!!!
That put a smile on my face ! Many Thanks

They did "Bobby Jean."

What a wonderful conversation !!
Thank you. That was cool to see and hear. I love to hear insights into how songs were written and created. ❤️☮️
He did,he took the long way, cant wait to find him at home, thanks for memorial man.
pure gem! thank you!
What a Great conversation by two Beautiful Souls!
Lots of love from Nepal.. Eddie and Bruce both of you
Wow I've never seen this interview before. A completely different side of Bruce. I love seeing Bruce in this more conversational style where he is the one asking the questions. Almost everything you see of Bruce on UA-cam is people asking him questions and he seems to have a persona or façade that he uses to give his answers. In this interview I felt like I got a little closer to the real Bruce Springsteen. He seemed so relaxed. Just a great conversation between two amazing musicians.
Sou Brasileiro. Eddie e Bruce são duas lendas da música e de vida... show!!!
Love waking to this view
two friends chatting and we get the chance to watch it. Amazing
So cool Ed, That story about your father gets me everytime. I heard a little more about it on another video about your new album.
Legends of my youth AND my grown up years. Thank you for rockin our world.
