- In this video, I will show you my technique and recipe for brewing an Aeropress XL inverted.
The basic recipe is:
40g coffee, ground fine.
500g of water heated to 97C.
Pour 250g of water, stir 20 times.
Add remaining 250g.
Wait 1 minute.
Invert and press, aiming for 30 seconds pressing time.
Enjoy!
Thanks for watching, let me know if you have any questions.
Received my Aeropress today and just tried it out with your recipe with pre ground decaffeinated coffee, don't have a grinder yet.
This was better than I expected, tried the second cup with cream and that was even better. Thank you for your videos.
That looks awesome, thank you so much for this video! Now I feel a lot more confident and how to use that Aeropress! 🎉☕
Thanks for watching! Glad it was helpful.
Just found your channel recently and I must say, I really enjoy your videos! So keep 'em coming! ;) And now for some unsolicited advice for future videos/recipes 😂: I'd love to hear more about grind size and water temperature ☕
Thank you! Appreciate the advice too. Those are important details I neglected to mention 😵

Thank you so much!! Lots of content coming, appreciate the subscription!
Great video!!
Thank you!!
I’m just getting started with the aeropress xl so videos like this with recipes and tips are extremely helpful!
Inverted is the only way, imho. With the smaller model, as it ages, you start to see leakage past the piston. I hope this lasts longer. Thanks for the video.
Great and informative video! Safety is the key.
Personally I choose to grab life by horns, and brew upside down 🤘
Haha me too!!
I started inverting the Aeropress a few days after I bought it, because when tried it their way, the coffee would leak out before I even started pressing it. It just made more sense. Then, I looked on UA-cam and found out that it was a "thing" or a method and that there was some controversy about it.
I agree, it does make more sense inverted. There's always someone who will disagree but I think it's most important to find the way it works for you!
With their new pressure cap i personally dont think there is aneed to invert anymore. In fact ive had success pressing a small amount out and adding more brew water.
I don’t have much experience with the pressure caps. Makes sense though. Thanks for the input!
I've been doing inverted for years, I avoid the gas buildup issue by simply not putting the cap on until right before flipping
That’s smart lol. I’ll mention that in a future video. Thanks for joining the conversation!
that aeropress seen some better days 😂
The damn thing is like brand new. They only started selling it recently.
It really isn't very old. It looks worn very quickly though which is kind of disappointing. However this one is used in a coffee shop so it gets more use than one at home.
have you tried using the stainless steel filter? I was thinking of getting it since i dont want to keep getting paper filters but I hear the flavour profile is different idk
I don’t have one for the XL but I do for the regular Aeropress: it definitely changes the flavor and texture. Not necessarily in a bad way but I do prefer the taste with a paper filter more.
@@pletsmakecoffeeLast time I checked, they don't even have a metal filter for the XL.
So they just released an official metal filter for the XL and mine just got here. I will report on results.@@highnrising
