  • The Aeropress is still the most popular immersion press brewer in the world, but is it time to hail a new king?
    I bought the Delter Press years ago and I watched another popular coffee UA-camr teach me how to use it. Only, he didn't really know how to use it and tried to use it like an Aeropress. But it isn't an Aeropress, its something better! So I reached out to the actual inventor and got a lesson from him instead.
    THE DELTER COFFEE PRESS is more precise without having to use precision equipment and far superior to handle, in my opinion. Why would I use the Aeropress again? Maybe to go in a competition but if I'm going out camping or hiking or even just wanting a beautifully balanced coffee brew made with ease, then I'm using the Delter Press.
    I got to sit down with the inventor of the Delta Press and not only did he tell us his process of creating a more efficient immersion method, but he also made my new coffee blend in development taste amazing with his recipe guide.
    One thing that really bugs me is the power that one person on UA-cam can have to destroy the appeal of a brewer like this without even understanding how to use it. At least now, I've been able to give Mark a platform to correctly show how this brewer should be used and why it is indeed not just "Another Aeropress"

    Honest opinion: Having owned both for years now (as many years as the Delter Press has been out, anyways) I have a couple issues with Delter that prevent it from being my daily driver: the o ring on the piston is thin and can get damaged easily, which causes leaks. Also, the necessity of using the cap to avoid burning yourself is an issue. Finally, the Aeropress just brews a nicer cup, not to mention can be used for a myriad of brew methods. It's not that the Delter isn't a capable brewer, it's that it has flaws, whereas the Aeropress has set an incredibly high bar. Just my opinion, but for my day to day brewing, I'm reaching for my Aeropress.

      Interesting. Thanks for sharing. I never use the cap but I don't put my palm over the hole and only use my finger to press down. I find my aeropress seal got more stuff and harder to press than the Delter so it's interesting to hear your experience. I do agree the aeropress is more versatile for brewing but I do love the Delter for filters.

    I still prefer the Aeropress. You can use anything from espresso to course grinds as well, and I can always add more water to the mug after pressing to mellow the coffee out, thus creating a larger brew.
    I dunno. I'm happy with how the Aero brews and don't see that changing anytime soon.

      Very true. I think also, the latest Aeropresses are great and much improved.

    I actually gave my Delter away to a friend because it produced a weaker brew than my Aeropress. Not to mention the cumbersome cleanup :D

    • @Rydecoffeecoach
      @Rydecoffeecoach  3 місяці тому

      Everyone on here comments on the clean-up but I honestly experience the opposite. I have more mess left over from the aeropress than the delter 🤷
      As for the weaker coffee, the delter is definitely more for filter and light roasted coffees whereas the aeropress works for espresso roasts too.

    Can I see the complete workflow for the delter press? Make it as a short or something
    I do love me some filter blend.

    Once you press the first pre-infusion of 50 ml for 30 sec how many additional seconds do I wait before pressing the second/final dose all the way through?

    • @Rydecoffeecoach
      @Rydecoffeecoach  10 місяців тому +1

      It's up to you and he wants people to play with new recipes but he recommends the whole time to extract being around the 2:30-3min mark. So, 30s for the pre, you could wait 30s then push the rest through in 1min intervals. 👌 I've been doing 50+100+50 and that has a beautiful taste. Let me know yours!
      Offscreen he actually mentioned he'd love to do what aeropress has and start some brewing comps so people can play with recipes.

    Ill buy first press-like plastic brewer that is actually bloody BIG. The main reason why i dont use aero and delta as much as dollar store v60 is bc they are smol. Ofc i can brew high dose and bypass, but if i want paper- filtered immersion - wowe, or filter a french (which sucks) or drink a smol dose. And ofc if u want some none bypass coffee for two or god forgive THREE people - u are in deep. So if u really want to beat ap a little - go do something at least 600ml.

      I dunno why aeropress don't make that. Not everyone is looking to buy the aeropress for travel 😂. I really like the aeropress but it doesn't make enough coffee for two people. I have the large size clever dripper for that

      Hi there mate - actually the Delter Press is a good pick for larger batches as you can just continue to add water and brew 400mL or more. You can dose up to 28 grams of coffee which should be good for nearly 500mL. In fact there will soon be an accessory that you can use to further increase coffee capacity (and water). No need for a larger chamber for this method of brewing since it is not immersion and relying on all grounds and water mixing at once.

    22gr of coffee and only 200ml of water? No bypass? Isn’t it too bold?

    • @Rydecoffeecoach
      @Rydecoffeecoach  11 місяців тому +2

      I think 22g is extreme case but you would just keep adding water. I think 15g is perfect for the full 200g water but I can see how you may want to increase the ratio (or decrease) if you were using a different roast.

    • @markfolker4642
      @markfolker4642 10 місяців тому +1

      Hi there mate - you can continue to add more water and plunge. For 22 grams of coffee I would be using somewhere around 350mL water.

      "easier to use" ??? have you tried brewing two+ cups of coffee with the Aero? I can brew two cups with the delta in less time than it takes to brew one cup in the Aero. even if you use pour over. But to each his own - I guess - cheers
