- Want to grade dirt with your compact or sub compact tractor? Combining a box blade with the use of your front end loader can really do the trick! Today I helped grade a section of my neighbors back yard using my Kubota B2601 and my Land Pride box blade.

Well done with the box blade work, project turned out well!
Thank you!
If you get a hydraulic top-and-tilt kit for that tractor, you will be amazed at how much easier it makes using that box blade. It's a night-and-day difference. The hydraulic top-link also makes connecting implements easier.
That would be nice!
Make sure that the cylinders that you get have a double pilot operated check valve on them though. The top and tilt kit that I got from the dealer didn’t include them and my cylinders leak down while using them and I have to adjust them constantly while working with the three point with ground engaging attachments. I wish more videos and forum posts on the topic had that information and I could have worked that into my financing deal. Now I have to take off my cylinders and bring them to a hydraulic shop to have them add the valves on, all out of pocket. I didn’t receive the standard three point top and side link either so that’s down time for my machine while it’s being worked on.
Great job, Ed. I'm glad to see the box blade and rippers did the job. I have a very similar job coming up (well, I've been trying to get to it for two years now). I plan to use a box blade. Thanks for trying it before me!
Thank you! It’s like having an entirely new attachment. I can’t believe I never tried dropping rippers in the past. Good luck!
Well done! I think the box blade with scrapers is an under-appreciated implement.
Underappreciated by me until yesterday! 😄👍
Good job!!
Thank you!
Your neighbors yard is lovely ❤
They do a nice job!
Looks Good 👍
Thanks 👍
Nice work Ed.
Thank you! Cheers!
Good Evening Sir, that is an OUTSTANDING Tractor Therapeutic Session That You Had Helping Your Friends and you gain an A/C unit 👍😇👌 Be Well Sir Cheers 🍻
You got that right!
Little Kubota did a great job. Perfect tractor for this project!
You got that right!
Boy I wish we had rock free dirt like that around here, ours is just so rocky!
We are lucky that way. But we often have to deal with miserable sticky clay.
like a boss ed great job
Thanks 👍
Slow and steady with these machines. I graded my entire back yard after some construction with my little 2610, about an acre worth. It took me a solid week to complete, but in the end it saved me $12-15 grand and the site Forman was amazed my little machine was capable of doing it all.
They can do a lot! Like you said it just takes longer.
Great job! FWIW, I like to do my final grading with a box blade while moving in reverse. That way my tires ride on the part I have just leveled.
Very fancy 😄👍
Nice job Ed. You know I love me some box blade! Also, I agree with everything @jays1517 had to say in his comment about top links! Great job, as always, my friend. 👍👍
Thanks Chris. Yeah that top link sounds like the ticket!
I don't know how much editing you had to do on this video, but I'll give credit where credit is due, YOU DID box blade like a boss!!! I've got a 7' box blade behind my 73HP machine, and honestly, I'm just not very good with it. I don't like it a lot either. I think it's good for moving large amounts of material, but I'd much prefer a land plane for most things. Maybe I just need more practice with the box blade though. Anyway, you did a nice job on that piece of land, kudos to you!
Thank you. It went really well. I kind of surprised myself, ha ha. Not even much editing. 😄👍
I have a sub compact tractor with a 4 foot boxblade. It is amazing how much work I can get done with it.
Right?! I just kept thinking about how many shovels and wheelbarrows that would’ve been.
Just got a BB for my BX, not a lot to do with it; so got a lighter one but I think it will be sufficient and helpful.
Enjoy! It’s a handy attachment. If nothing else it’s great to leave on the back for ballast.
I have the same tractor and have done the same work you just did and have used the box blade but on some of the jobs I used my rototiller then box blade. Just a thought for you if you do this again.
Thank you! I was actually thinking about the Rototiller. The ripper teeth did a great job for me though.
Did you find that in 4 wheel, it tore up the grass when turning etc? My 2601 (bought because of you and GP lol) has turf tires on it and if I'm making tight turns on the grass it kinda tears it up a bit...
Great Job by the way
Cheers!
Thank you! Yes, 4x4 tears up
The ground so you have to be careful or put it in 2WD when turning tight. That’s just the nature (or physics) of true 4 wheel drive. My f150 and Jeep do the same thing 😄
Hope you’re enjoying the B2601 as much I as do!
