Work will resume 1 week later after completion of the corrected risk assessment (which was fine in the first place but if you can’t find fault why are you in a job?) Work finishes 3 weeks after intended start date. Traffic lights come down a few days later. Broadband company move in to dig up road for cabling 2 weeks later.

@@drubradley8821 If you look carefully where some of the wood gets a little bit stuck you will see them open the jaws and when the jaws open the chain goes tight and forces the wood out. You'll really have to watch closely but I think you'll see what I'm referring to. more than that is very difficult to explain short of using visual aids or writing out an engineering description 10 pages long.
The jaws on that are over the top powerful! I've never seen anyone use an excavator with this attachment before. I've see quite a few things but this is very impressive! And yes, you have one heck of a good operator running that piece of equipment! Great Job!
Other machines make scrap of the stump. This is the first I've seen that removes nearly all the wood while removing virtually none of the surrounding soil. Even if other machines could do that, I'd like to see them operate by a roadside without disturbing the pavement. Good machine, amazing operator! Hats off to you whoever operated that wonderful equipment.
Don't suggest, the good operators can do it. I saw a video where excavators are made and to show how good and nimble the machines were they had egg games, where the operators picked eggs from one location to another with the excavators without breaking the eggs

Good operator, good to watch, here in the UK I’m a plant operator and this job would have been a nightmare to do. Firstly they would have temporary traffic lights set up probably for a day in advance and foreman watching over you and a person in charge overall to manage both of you, hundreds of traffic cones all around the job at least five or six permits to sign before the operator started work, a safe method of work to be in place various risk assessments to be carried out then a briefing about how to do the job then reminders from management about how to do the job more safely and the correct way to do it, and then people wonder why a simple task like this could cost over £40,000 at the expense of local council and tax payers but hey this is the BS we have in the uk where here we have an experienced operator taking perhaps an hour from start to finish. This is why the UK are now considered the joke of Europe

The tree never stood a chance against that gentle giant of a machine. The tree stood his ground well and tried to go the distance. But the never tiring motor of the machine was more persistent than its opponent anticipated. Even showed good sportsmanship by cleaning up after itself. Excellent fight.

I've used an excavator many times to dig out stumps, and to do so, you usually have to dig around the stump completely, enough to be able to lever out the stump, (with an excavator like a 270 or bigger, sure, you can pluck this size out, but for smaller ones, nope). And plucking them out would tend to disrupt the asphalt next to it. great tool!

Nice neat job with minimal soil disturbance and zero damage to pavement. The chains inside the bucket are a nice touch preventing wood from being jammed in the bucket - something I've experienced many a time with a standard 4 in 1 backhoe bucket.
Serious mess to rake or cleanup and the carbide faced cutters need replacement often in rocky soil. Then there's the time to replace the super expensive carbide.
The Flat lands or Polder in the Netherlands.. besides the name, it took me one look in the surroundings and realized in which Country it is. And, I have never seen this method of getting tree stumps out, I've seen only a rotor blade that dug out a hole treestump and all just obliterating as the blade went from one side to the other and gone was it.. This is done very neatly I must say 👌

In about 10 years, when the 90% of the tree that is left underground decomposes, you're going to have one hell of a Sink hole. But hey, by then you'll be long gone...
You can't turn something into nothing or vice versa. When the roots rot away, they don't vanish into thin air and leave a sinkhole. When they grow, they don't materialise out of nothing and push the ground up 5 metres. Stump shears > Grinder

I'd take a video of the sinkholes in my back yard but it's not worth the effort to someone who can't be bothered to even google the *three types of sinkholes.*

While this probably is not news to you, you appear to have forgotten to take that into the equation; while some material made its way up from the soil into the part of the tree that's above ground, a lot of carbon made its way from the atmosphere into the tree roots. I'm not familiar with termites, they're not endemic here. And you're right, I can't be bothered to look up sinkholes. There's sinkholes caused by mining, by water erosion and you kind of spoiled the third type already, although I'm still sceptical about this happening in the location of the video since trees come and go and sinkholes that we do get over here are always the result of leaking sewer, water, or district heating pipes.

A stump grinder doesn't have such a big blast radius though.
Having to dig below root level around the circumference of the stump is a disadvantage.
That's hand down the best stump removal machine that I have seen. The other machine tend to leave a heck of a mess.
Alot of credit goes to the operator , a machine does the work but the person is in control .

Tree stumps can also be removed with a milling machine. It does make more noise though.

@@earld1403Not only do trees take water and nutrients from the soil, they also take carbon out of the air. While this probably is not news to you, you appear to have forgotten to take that into the equation; while some material made its way up from the soil into the part of the tree that's above ground, a lot of carbon made its way from the atmosphere into the tree roots.
I'm not familiar with termites, they're not endemic here. And you're right, I can't be bothered to look up sinkholes. There's sinkholes caused by mining, by water erosion and you kind of spoiled the third type already, although I'm still sceptical about this happening in the location of the video since trees come and go and sinkholes that we do get over here are always the result of leaking sewer, water, or district heating pipes.
