Got mine today. The case feels like a crushed tin can however the movement is mint, basically paid through the nose just to get the movement so a mod is on the way
Thanks for a simple review without dumbing it down. Much appreciated. They were discontinued in early 2023. It looks like Amazon bought them all and are selling them at around $250. I happily picked one up for $247 just to get my hands on that action. Once I get it, I'll swap out the band for either a deep coffee brown leather band with a little bit of sheen on it or take it in the other direction with either a matt black metal bracelet or two-town black/silver stainless bracelet. Or what the heck...maybe all three.
@@Realidealgear I think the finishing on the watch is incredible! My grail watch is a GS, but this will hold me over nicely until I can save up the money for one! Great review!
Just picked this up on Amazon for $169. I had $80 in points and got 5% back. Couldn't pass it up. The only negative I have on this watch is the mineral crystal.
I love this watch except for the infinity symbol on the seconds hand. To me, all I see is what looks like scissors. I see this watch and think it was made for a hair stylist or a barber. If I was a barber, this would be MY watch.
Agreed, the strap is extraordinarily stiff. I doesn't loosen up but not to the point of being flexible...it just takes on the shape of your wrist. Might be the best ultra high-beat watch for the money.
Tim. Have you taken a gander at the caseback? Specifically, how to remove it? I have this model, grey dialface, and the battery has gone flat. No prob, I thought, I'll just replace it. Well, nope. I'm not sure what system they used (screw down or press) but it only has two thin slots, and I've been unable to remove it. Contemplating sending it in, but given batteries only last 3yrs or so in these I'm not wanting to become dependent on $50 service calls. Check out the caseback, use a magnifying glass, and tell me what you think. Not been able to find any info on the web as yet.
I have....with the caseback facing you and the 12 o'clock pointed up...there is a tab at the 1 o'clock position. Use a caseback removal tool or "knife" to pry up the caseback. Easy battery change. Replacement of the caseback requires that you put the notch for the stem over the stem. For my watch, the printing on the caseback had the Bulova symbol at the 12 o'clock position thus aligning the notch over the stem (9 o'clock) while looking at the caseback. Putting the watch face down on a book, I put all my weight onto the caseback to snap it back into place. Let me know how it went!
@@Realidealgear no luck. There are two tapered slots in this area, leading up to a sort of tab. The slots are too shallow for my caseback knives to get a bite into, and there is zero space under the tab. I even tried "sharpening" one of my knives a bit. It's almost like the back is pressed into the case too far, idk. Anyway, appreciate your advice in this and the follow-up. 👍
Was about to buy one in store in person but upon testing, the date change didn't work at all. So far from what I've read it's a plastic gear and no watchmakers want to deal with it.
While this is an attractive watch, and I would totally wear this with slacks, shirt and jacket at the office, I'd never use it as a DRESS watch. Spoke wheel ornament plus spiral structure plus metal indices plus lume indices is WAAAY too much to turn this into an elegant watch. Subtract at least two of those four features, please, to motivate me to wear this with a black suit.
Beautiful watch. Bulova, for all it's years on Earth is still underrated in some respects.
Yes...I'm not a fan of the more recent designs. Too industrial, oversized, etc. Their older watches are classics, great design pieces.
Nice review great 👍 video I set my Precisionist to Atomic clock ⏰ what about you?
I can't help myself from buying the really good Bulovas and Balls. I always buy Bulovas when gifting a watch.
@@swiss86watches Me, too and I find it is about 2 - 3 seconds fast over the past year.
Have several of these incredible watches, memorizing second hand.
Silky movement!

The movement is SOOO smooth. Keep me up to date on the mod, curious.
I own this watch. Love it. It is phenomenal. Nice video. Thank you
Thanks for watching!

Thank you for the compliment. I like the ideas you have for the straps. Let me know how it goes. Take care!
I've got the butterscotch Jet Star. I with mine had the counterbalance like yours on the second hand.
The Jet Star is a Beautiful watch.
Just ordered this, I saw it for the first time a few days ago and had to grab one!
Its awesome, the best Bulova Precisionist watch.

Funny you mentioned that, I see that as well. Absolutely love the movement!
i love the watch -- hate the strap super stiff, even to the point of painful.

nice Lamy Safari too !
You noticed! I've gotten myself into a fountain pen rabbit hole.

That's unfortunate and good to know. Thanks for sharing.
I only knew the springdrive for sweeping seconds. Hope they puy a saphire though
It's a nice sweeping movement.
Just buy a rolex

Hey, what steel is the case made of?
Stainless...I believe 316.
