Yes Bulova, more of this. These are good looking watches. You actually appropriately used sapphire. And the Precisionist movement is a great quartz movement that needs to continue to be developed and you're using it in an actually reasonably sized and classically styled watch. Precisionist line needs more of this. Not sure if I'll end up getting one of these but they are enticing and I hope these do well enough that Bulova considers doing more Precisionist watches like these.
I finally saw one at Macy's and the bracelet isn't all the heavy compared to many Tissot, Mido, and Hamilton watches. I like the fact Bulova finally made a Precisonist watch with a smaller case size. I really want to buy a JetStar watch with that pretty red dial but not sure if there is enough removable end links for someone with a 6 inch wrist.
Just got mine and was no problem sizing. It has enough to adjust to your wrist. Also got a nice mahogany color band to swap the bracelet on hot days.@@Klingonmastr
That sweeping second hand. That dial. And the accuracy. And the price! Honestly for us guys who cannot afford luxury watches like Rolex or even Tudor for that matter, this is an absolute must for anyone who loves watches. Bracelet is quite nice and I love the red dial. Looking for deals right now!
Just got mine last week! Bulova knocked it out of the park with this one! I ordered the limited edition with red/blue accents. Just a gorgeous watch all around. The sweeping seconds hands is truly mesmerizing - and yes I know it’s been said many times in this comments section - but the seconds hand is truly mesmerizing! 😊
Very impressive model release. As a staunch fan of Bulova, it's refreshing to see a seemingly return to what made them such fine time pieces in the first place.
Love the Jet Star, I have the limited edition and it is beautifully built and finished, the choice of bracelet and strap is great. I am getting very tempted by the yellow/brown gold model now!
I ordered the brown leather brown face jetstar bulova out of my work catalog gift, for years of service and was impressed with the look and appeal of this watch it truely is a fantastic it piece
I never thought I would buy a Bulova, they have made models in the last years which are quite unappealing and either too noisy, too big or too uninteresting for my taste. I only would have considered one of their military / field watches. But some weeks ago I stumbled upon the Bulova Oceanographer with the black dial and red accents and while the cheap non-hacking Miyota 8215 was a bit of a let-down, I just love the vintage aesthetics and the quite unique indices on that watch. I just ordered the Bulova Jet Star with the red / burgundy dial today (sorry, I live in Europe, so I ordered it here...) out of the same reasons I bought the oceanographer. I think it looks gorgeous and it has just the perfect amount of vintage looks. The case design and overall looks reminded me of the Citizen Series8, which I quite liked did not get because they look a bit too industrial for me and I did not like the crown guard on those. So this Bulova hits a sweet spot again. I am thinking about getting the gold tone, too...
I saw and tried on the gold dial - this watch is incredibly attractive in person, the best looking watch in the case. I was really surprised at how good it looks and sits on the wrist.
Bulova not marketing and selling this movement to other manufacturers is keeping the lion in the cage. Think of any popular automatic and you have a host watch for this movement that would sell like hotcakes. A true quartz crisis. Having said this, I’ll buy what Bulova have on offer (as long as it fits my skinny wrist). In fact, I bought the red and the gold Jet Stars. Thanks for the video!
One of the best releases of the year at any price. Mine is much more accurate than Bulova's stated values. It's a very Japanese thing to do - claim one thing, but actually be significantly better.
Just ordered the gold tone Jetstar. Already own the Lunar Pilot and the Devil Diver (orange dial). Am more than happy to add another Bulova to my small, but growing, collection.
I own an older Bulova with the Precisionist movement and the sweep of the seconds hand is mesmerizing. It's a shame that the vast majority of models with this movement have been ugly as sin (like, Invicta level ugly). This new Jet Star range is certainly a step in the right direction.
As a very much admitted quartz hater I absolutely love this watch. Aside from the smoother sweep on the high frequency quartz movement the thing just looks good and is so distinctive from everything else out there.
Nice review Teddy Bulova have blown it out of the park with this 70s retro watch for sure I'm normally a mechanical watch collector & in my collection i own a couple of vintage Bulova & confess two Lunar pilot's one being the 45mm black dial version & the 43mm snoopy blue panda version supberb watches cheers from the UK.
I am not typically a big fan of gold watches as silver typically works best with my skin tone but i gotta say that this watch looks great in gold especially with that leather strap, love the retro feel and the dome effect. Good job to Bulova for making insanely good high frequency Quartz movement for such a good price too, I am becoming more of a fan of them with each of these great movements.
Same. Everything I have is in gray, blue or black so I have nothing to wear this with. I wish I dressed accordingly, as the gold version is by far my favorite. Very classic.
No problem to praise Bulova watches. When they were independent or under the roof at Citizen, I do normally not buy watches in a short time period, but i must hit the brake for not buying 30 Bulova’s in a year. So, now it’s time to close my tablet and only look at the silhouette of my Bulova. Love it, love it!
I saw this watch in another video & immediately bought the silver one. Absolutely love the dial & the blue/red leather strap. Plus you also get free sunglasses. 😎
Whoever is making the design choices at Bulova is absolutely killing it right now. I found the Devil Diver a couple of years back and thought it was a fluke in their lineup. Then I saw the Lunar Pilot. I have both now. And I plan on adding the Jet Star and the Oceanographer GMT. I love a good comeback story!
Recently purchased a Bulova Precisionist 96B158 with that same movement and it's a nice watch. It's Charcol Gray/Black with a polished case and a black leather strap. It was a barely used with a new battery for 130.00.
I own the Bulova Lunor Pilot. I wear that watch almost daily. I respect the quartz movement due to it’s accuracy. But to see the same frequency and a sweeping second hand here, I think it’s probably the best quartz watch out there. Some quartz haters have to consider the art that the sweeping second hand offers. But like anything, time will tell since this is a legitimate new watch.
I tried the gold one on yesterday and it looks great on the wrist even with my small wrists. It has a real nice vibe to it. I might just have to get one.
Looks like Bulova UK also gets a black dial with gold accents on a steel bracelet. Bulova Australia offers that plus a beautiful silver sunburst dial on a black leather strap.
I am a Bulova fan. They occasionally offer watches with the wow factor. They are like the Pontiac of old of watches; they can be innovative, sporty and luxurious but don't always get the credit they deserve. I wish that Citizen and Bulova would introduce a hybrid eco-drive powered precisionist movement. It seems so obvious.
I picked up the gold/brown one the day I heard about it about a month ago. I love it. But I do wish they made a matching gold bracelet in the same style the other models have. The band is just OK. And it’s too hard to match up with something aftermarket.
I hope this is an indication that Bulova can produce a Lunar Pilot in this smaller size. The current “smaller” Lunar Pilot is still too large for me to comfortably wear.
Yo estoy mirando el Surveyor en verde oscuro por unos 290€. Mi otra alternativa es el Seiko Presage Sharp Edge, también en verde . Merece la pena pagar la diferencia de precio entre uno y otro ? Gracias
I'm going to get a silver model today. That sweep just mesmerises me, far more than my automatic watches. Of course, I have to try it on and all that but I can't imagine that there's going to be a real problem with it. EDIT: Nope, it's a stunner but it's WAY too small for my Lunar Pilot-sized wrist. The smallest watch size that I can reasonably pull off is 44mm. Damn, that sucks.
I'm really impressed by the version with the gorgeous red dial. Having only 50 meters of water resistance isn't a real deal breaker for me. I saw one at Macy's and didn't bother to check the length of the bracelet. I was wanting to know if there are enough removable end links on this Bulova watch to fit a person with a six inch wrist.
Impressive accuracy for the price. Similar to my F91W (Yes - that’s lottery level luck, I know). So what’s stopping Bulova making a solar Precisionist watch?
This movement is incredibly power hungry: the battery is HUGE. It would be like trying to charge an Apple Watch with a solar cell. You could do it, but it would take awhile. That said: that sweep is amazing and totally worth it.
Can you do a review or tell me what you think about the Bulova marine Star series A 98A226 & marine star series C 96A291 thinking about getting those two beautiful pieces to start my collection. Thank you.

Looks like a zenith defy, but at a sane price... Bulova has got it made just bringing back their classics and back catalog... because they sure as heck cant come uo with any new desigms that arent fugly as f
Where are these made? They really keep that detail hidden well, so can I assume not in Japan except the movement? It's really a very interesting piece but I'm trying to avoid stuff that is half done in China.
Shame they didn’t keep the honeycomb bracelet of the original, also the lack of a hacking movement, with that wonderful sweep of the second hand you would think they would make it a little more visible/prominent.
Other Quartz watches: we will make our seconds hand tick only once per second to preserve battery power Bullova: hold my beer On that note, how long do batteries last on these models? That burgundy is sharp. Just picked up a blue Super Seville with the same movement. Bulova is in a renaissance right now. Thanks for your work Teddy!
I have the Merlot one, videos and pics don't do it justice, go see it in person, that dial!!! 😎. This watch is pure class.
The date window may be the icing on the cake to make me swap my 43 Lunar Pilot for it. Beautiful watch. Great movement. Huge value.
Love mine (red) the strap is just okay. I will probably change out later.
The sweep is so sweet
