What is a Service Dog?
A Service Dog is any dog Trained to perform Tasks to help an individual with a disability.
What’s the difference between an Emotional Support Dog and a Service Dog?
Emotional Support Animals do not require training. They are not allowed in public places that don’t allow pets. They are not Service Animals.
What Tasks does Dakota Perform?
Dakota is a 𝘔𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 Alert and response dog. She is for psychiatric and medical/ physical purposes.
Her tasks consist of but are not limited to: Anxiety/ Ptsd alerts, dissociation alerts, guide work (during a ptsd episode), Deep Pressure therapy, Opening and Closing Doors, interfering with self harm, Finding help (normally leading me to my family if I enter an episode away from them. She’s trained to find a family member and nudge them), Blocking and covering (creating space between myself and other people).

laartje24 yeah I get that too. I’ve got college friends, it’s not like I don’t enjoy the learning aspect, it’s more so that I hate the drama that engulfs Highschool. That doesn’t seem to happen as often in college.
I literally graduated this past May and I'm still like "yo, can I graduate into a full adult sometime soon" so like same

@@grimcifer666 hair has to be tied up and in a plait, earrings are only allowed in the lower lobe and have to be a plain stud or pearl that can fit through a refill paper hole. I thought that was normal

same, i still have a while till i *possibly* get one. i have to go to therapy and get diagnosed first, but i have severe anxiety, possibly social anxiety, in public places.
I was going to take my service dog in training but my school with picky and they said she has to be certified

I think for anxiety it’s different, those are emotional support dogs and they don’t have as many perms which is what makes them different but they are still really helpful!

I do not miss that part of HS...lol college sometimes your first clas sisnt till 9:30am...so you can sleep in till like 8:00am and leave by 8:30am...yeah college is way better...hell if you can, ypu can schedule your classes so u get up "early" maybe 2 days out the week...and friday usually dont go to school... Lol college is so much better

I was in Florida for the past week, hitting up Disney. (My feet hate me. )While I was on vacation my dog was too at this dog ranch place. Last time she went there she absolutely loved it. I get to pick her up later today!

And now the school is just ignoring me completely. I'm constantly stressed out and I can never focus in school and I'm constantly having episodes/attacks it sucks. I swear I will never stop loving your videos. Dakota is so funny! It makes me look forward for when my service dog passes training so I can have him with me. This really makes me feel so secure about service dogs and the service dog community seeing how much dedication and hilarity is put into every day with a service dog. I have always had anxiety and I went through a traumatic experience when I was younger dealing with sexual assault it’s only been 1 year since I got out the situation and I’m now 19
I have panic attack’s and take meds and sometimes that’s not enough
Does that justify me having a survice dog or should I wait out these panic attack’s

@@louietheservicecat2584 I'm decently sure you can get a service animal for anxiety attacks, because they are similar to ptsd attacks. Emotional support animals are for emotional support, not for handling attacks of any kind.
Get a service dog if your psychiatrist thinks it would benefit you ❤

I did not have a Service Dog when I went to college on campus so having one at school for the first time in law school is definitely interesting, though Aslan is 7 1/2 and been doing this his entire life, so that helps. Thank you for being an inspiration but also for being honest. Most people have NO clue of the issues that Service Dog handlers face every day just about. And seeing what you and others have faced in schools prior to college is even more eye-opening! Keep taking the stand and being awesome!

My family recently got a purebred siberian after losing our pitsky. She has a beautiful red/brown coat much like our pitsky's siberian dad and it is the most talkative dog I've ever met tbh

One time someone brought a therapy goat in training to our school. He ran up and down the hallways and was really cute.
Hang in there sweetie! I remember high school and it sucked big time! I'm 63 now and my life has been full. I have 2 grown children. My daughter Dedra is 42 and my son Delon (rhymes with melon🤣) is 39. Make the most out of school bc it's only the beginning of your life and your future is yet to be decided! Just enjoy your life and live day to day bc time takes care of everything! Pretty soon you'll be in college and then before you know it you'll be married with a baby in the near future!
