I fully balance train my dogs. That means I use tools like the Prong, and Ecollar, in order to train them. If you don’t like or disagree with that method, that’s totally fine, but please do not leave comments bashing the way I train my dogs. It works for me and my dogs. If it doesn’t work for you and you found other ways, awesome! Please don’t leave nasty comments over it. All of the tools are used and fitted properly/ safely. Thank you guys 💜

Lexie Godbout I agree that ecollars can be really great training tools! and so can prong collars if you use them in the right way and don’t abuse using the collar.

When your friend (totally just blanked on her name) asked her dog to choose the chips, it totally reminded me of me and my now retired SD.
I was in Publix one day and couldn’t decide which pasta to get. I told my dog to nudge one of the pasta boxes. He chose the one I hate. So we got into an argument about pasta (yes my dog and I, he’ll talk back to me sometimes lol I’m insane). THEN this random lady walked up and says “I agree with you dog, that pasta is objectively the best.” She then walked away. Nothing else was said. She just walked away.

I don’t hate you or anything I feel like you two are wonderful dog trainer but from 2:30 to 3:35 Max looks like he’s shutting down. His tail is tucked and he doesn’t want to walk. Is there a reason for this? I would love for you to respond. Max is getting so big too! ❤️
Danielle 1244 I agree with you. The trainer is saying “I’m sorry buddy, I know 9 is a high level” while Max, whines, pants, and attempts multiple times to “pancake”. This tells me that he’s shutting down from the overstimulation of both the prong and e-collar corrections. To keep Max happy and engaged, I feel her and her trainer should stick to one correction type at a time so as not to overstimulate him. This is coming from over 15 years of training experience with service dogs (both seizure and guide) and balanced dog training. Definitely no hate here either. I’m all for education, not harassment!

Amy steed it can be very upsetting. I was grimacing the whole way through. Especially when Lexie and Nolan chuckled and ignored his clear stress signs. We can only hope that she takes the advice people are giving her to prevent Max from completely burning out. The rush to make him perfect so that Lexie can tout “7 months old, bitch!” Is only detrimental to his development and mental health.

Fable Thorn she’s scared of water. We are working on it, but she really hates it. The only time she isn’t scared is in the bath, but the hose scares her. So to keep her the safest while not paying full attention we tied her up.

I can't believe how big max has gotten. My family and I are discussing adopting a German Shepherd to train for my sister's needs since her SD passed away last month. Watching how well Max has done, I hope hers can do just as well as he has. #shepsquad

When he was lying on your neck he was checking for a pulse ♡ love you and your videos !!
Prong collar are a lot safer than snapping on a flat collar. Prongs properly distribute the tug through the neck whereas a flat collar just yanks on their trachea. Prong collars also mimic a mother’s bite when rugged on (as for a correction with a command). Also, Lexie knows her dogs abilities and such when it comes to the e-collar. She knows what levels are too much for Max.

I asked my grandpa if I could train his puppy as my service dog (I'm moving in with him) and he was so happy about it because he thought she'd be perfect for service work, and he thinks all GSD's should have a job. Now he's excited about the idea and we're going over the laws together and buying her a nice vest. I'm so grateful for him being so supportive about it! We're going to go up to my new school together and discuss bringing her to school with me. Your videos help me a lot knowing other people have gone through it and still do, and it makes me less afraid to put myself out there. Thank you!
Just make sure you get your dog certified as a service dog. Otherwise you’re doing something illegal and wrong. You cannot just buy a vest and do some training and call it a service dog. Make sure you have an actual reason needing a service dog specifics are outlined on many websites. Be aware there is a difference between service dog and emotional support animal.

@@yadogbaby9025 my mom. well the first thing is you talk to a therapist. they will be the ones to truly decide if you need one. then you need to choose the breed best for you, smaller dogs are usually used for anxiety. you also need to make sure you can handle the financial abilities that the dog needs like vet bills, collars, the vest, etc. you also need to choose if you buy and train the dog yourself, or if you find a pre-trained dog. there are programs to help people with less money get the service dog they need, but you would still need to pay for other expenses. so yeah. I would suggest doing a little more research so you get exactly what you need.
How old are you and if you dont mind me asking why do you think you need one and what benefits do you think it would provide?

Where can I buy those leashes?? They I have looking for some good quality rope leashes for my dog but can’t seem to find one I like and or trust
I make my own leashes. I've been lucky to find used climbing ropes and I buy leash clips- both trigger and traditional leash clips and cut to the leangths I need/want. I also get the rings for the longer leads.

Awesome video! I tried to stay awake for it but I couldn't, lol. Do you have any good dog shoe(s) recommended? Mainly for small dogs, like a chihuahua. Because she's my sdit, and I would like to start more outside training but it's so hot it really does burn her paws, and the places we go sometimes have dirt, or mud, or just nasty stuff on the floor and I don't want any of that in or on her paws while practicing, or just playing. - Sending love from a service dog team (in training)

That's not even balanced training, in those first few minutes what I saw could be considered borderline abusive. That poor dog. He is so unbelievably confused and he is just being punished. He isnt asked to do anything, just punished when he doesnt guess correctly. He is very clearly uncomfortable, trying to get away, trying to lay down, crying, all signs of a shut down dog. Use aversive tools if you must, but dont use them like that. That is not okay.

@@Iceblinkwolfsong I don't have enough money to go to a professional. If I did I would get a professionally trained ptsd/anxiety dog. While I can't afford to get a new dog or spend thousands to get my dog trained by a stranger, I still need a sd. I appreciate you taking the time to reply to my comment though.

I do have a question for you, I have watched many of your videos before, but I am just wondering why you picked a Husky to be your service dog. I have no problem with it and love huskys my father and I actually train service dogs. I know typically huskys are more vocal then other dogs so I'm just curious as why you would pick that dog. (But Dakota is a very good puppier)
Dakota was a family pet before Dakota began her training. I don't know for sure but I'm guessing she temperament tested her and started training, she just happened to fit so she didn't have to get another dog.

What she did to her poor dog is absolutely disgusting and disturbing.
I honestly had to look back on it and idk what i think. I think that max was learning to get used to his shoes. But he also looked overwhelmed. Maybe it was because it wasnt lexi training him. He obviously wanted to lay down and calm down and i would have let my sd lay and take a break if i dont feel well then they let me take a break so im going to do the same for them. But also max will have to work even if hes a little uncomfortable. So im not taking sides max is well trained now and is fine in every situation.
