This was extremely informative. I will start saving up immediately. I have an anxiety disorder, dissociative disorder and extreme depression and have been speaking to my therapist about a service animal. So thank you for making this video.
I was diagnosed with CPTSD last week and I've been planning on getting a puppy, so I'm hoping to self train it to the best of my abilities to be an unregistered service dog. I understand it is a very new process to get a psychiatric service animal so I wish you the best luck!
Just got mine a 2 yr German shepherd I have social anxiety and extremely bad depression this dog helped me calm down and be around normal people easily and helped me learn and communicate easier
True, but if your dog is trained to alert, and provide a solution they are service dogs. On the ADA website if you have a dog trained to alert when you're about to have an anxiety attack, and provide an action to help you come down from it, then they are a service dog

I have anxiety and depression but my parents say that I don't need a SD because I take medication for it, but the truth is is that every medication that I've been on doesn't help at all. I'm going to talk to my therapist as soon as I get one, and talk to him/her about it and start saving my money, because I truly believe that a SD can help me :)
Here I have the same situation :( I’m unable to continue my education because my anxiety and bipolar disorder are really horrible…. The problem is how to convince them. I’m gonna talk to my psychiatrist today to see what she says Edit: I also take meds but doesn’t help me totally
I have almost the same situation going on. Although my parents are supportive about the service dog idea. I’ve been on medication for a while and it’s not helping. Actually it’s getting a lot worse. I’ve been thinking about it for a while. I also have tic disorder. Tic disorder is an uncontrollable movement or uncontrollable repetitive mouth sounds. My anxiety and depression is incredibly bad. I also have recently started having a bit of stuttering. I also recently have panic attacks. Hope everyone can feel better.
My wife had an AvM( brain bleed) and she was in desperate need of an emotional support animal. Even though we got this little peekachu as a puppy, he has grown into the best dog for the job. He is not all business so he knows he a dog so when he sees a squirrel 🐿️ he is on his tail. But if she has a bad day he don't leave her side. We luv u Chino!!!
Im starting to believe a service dog could help me so much with taking my medications for depression, help me feel more confident going outside cause sometimes im just completely unable to due to anxiety, and also emotional support I need an animal that will cuddle with me and hug me and be there for me. animals comfort me so much. I do have a dog but shes the family dog and shes old and she prefers to be alone. I think a service dog could change my life
I have extreme anxiety, and have really bad panic attacks out in public. I also have some form of ptsd and usually panic around men, or when people raise their voice. I struggle with daily depression and often don’t want to get out of bed..On top of all of this I also have autism and can get overstimulated and panic over that too. I’m looking into this and it was very informative! I will start saving up!
I feel you on that. I’m currently owner training a SD. Let me tell you, it helps. He’s almost fully trained at 1.5 years old. He’s a life saver. I would definitely recommend if you need one. They are a great tool
i’m also in the same situation, but i have severe dissociation as well which causes me to be prone to getting kidnapped/crimes. rn my parents basically just don’t let me go anywhere alone bc of it but idk how it’s gonna work when i’m an adulg
A service dog will help tremendously! AS LONG AS YOU realize that the animal is just as important as you! Meaning proper care and feeding and activity! WHICH can give MOST PEOPLE that benefit as well! Taking care of an animal is as important to YOU as it is to them! Every aspect of a dog is beneficial to your health! 😘😇
I have extreme anxiety, depression and ptsd, but my parents think you have to have a physical disability to get a service dog. I know that a SD would help me tho. I am going to start going to a therapist, hopfully they will understand! Also thank you so much for making this video!
I really don’t mean to be rude but, why would you consider a service dog before at least going to therapy? If you have extreme anxiety you really should have seen a therapist sooner, you deserve it! ❤ I hope stuff gets better for you.
Thank you for this. I am bipolar and have manic episodes and have problems with motivation to get out of bed, nightmares, forgetfulness to take my meds, anger/anxiety, wanting not to leave home. I have meds that really help control my anger. It's a whole new world now with the med paliperidone. I have trouble recognizing that mania is happening because all I know to detect them was severe anger but I literally don't get angry any more but have started having mania in a euphoric, extreme binging on internet learning, racing thoughts, uncontrollable talking etc. I have recently learned that a dog can possibly improve my quality of life even though the meds work very well and we could always use a helping hand. I trained my dog of 13 years to be an emotion support dog and she worked great and had to put her down 7 mo ago because of cushings disease and making the choice to let her go was extremely difficult and I have episodes of crying still because I can't stop thinking of how depressed it still makes me and i am having trouble getting another dog because i dont know if i can go through the amount of pain again when it eventually crosses the Rainbow Bridge. Any advice from anyone on how I can let go of the pain and feel like it's finally time to get the psa dog? I already have my Dr support but fear is causing procrastination. Any thoughts? You can't value any amount of money spent getting a psa dog because it can change your life and keep you sane, which is why I am now finally thinking about this but still fearful. Thanks for reading this and any thoughts people can provide is greatly appreciated.
Another animal, esp. if you can get a service animal can greatly improve the quality of your life. it is scary and painful when you have to lose them. A new one will help alleviate that pain. All we can do is be grateful for the time we have w/ them. I cried for days when I lost my last cat. I had pre-emptively made sure to get some younger ones, because I could lose another as he's getting up there. I live one day at a time, and don't let myself dwell on it.
Thank you so much for this, I honestly wish I would have found this earlier. I live in Durban, South Africa and honestly could not find any place to help with service dog training in my area and places I did find where on the other side of the country and cost a fortune. I suffer from major depressive disorder and social anxiety to the point where I don't feel like leaving the house, I only go to university and back home, the only real friend I have is my dog. I don't know why but every time I asked for help on this nobody reached out and my parents didn't want to help because they didn't want strangers to think that there is " something wrong " with me
Since an ESA is not the same as a PSD, that makes sense. At the moment I have an ESA that my psychiatrist confirmed for me but I'm saving for a trained PSD. 💗
THANK YOU. I have anxiety and my pills don't work mostly. I also have a unknown disorder so they are almost using me for research and so far they got:meltdowns, anxiety, extreme growth, early baby teeth, a unknown chromosome affected, etc. So im thinking of getting a service dog. My mum thinks its a good idea. My anxiety can cause me to have meltdowns and not try stuff again to avoid disappointment. Even going to talk to others I avoid unless I know you well. I want to get a poodle( not standard due to prices of trimming and shaving and not a toy).
As a 100% disabled veteran for PTSD, could this help? The only thing I leave the house for is my dog's insulin, or to pick up an online grocery order that I don't leave the car for.
There are places that give service dogs for free to veterans. I've run into quite a few of these organizations bc I'm disabled and need a service dog but I'm not a veteran. I think it's awesome there are places that do this for our service men and women, they also have places that you can go and live for a few weeks while you are matched up with a service dog and these places are extremely nice. Please look into them, you are a veteran and it's the least our country can do for you, plus it free. Thank you for your service. Im a coma survivor and have died many times so I have PTSD and hate leaving home, I need a service dog but living in disability won't cover the cost. I worked and had a great career then one day I literally died at 26 and woke up weeks later to find out I had a heart condition. I was an athlete and in great physical shape, I wanted to go military but I knew deep down something was wrong bc I could not run long distances but could win all short races and was also recruited for college scholarships for ball but I broke two discs in my back senior year, I still hadn't made up my mind about college or militarty. I was devastated but turns out breaking my back saved my life. My heart Dr says if I had done either I would have died , he is still blown away I didn't die on the field. I was just getting a routine physical and had just talked into the room when I literally fell over dead on front of my nurse. I have long qt syndrome. Please check into service dog for veterans, I've seen so many places bc I've been searching for one myself and the only discount or free is for veterans and I think that is awesome..thank you again for your sacrifice for our freedom 🇺🇲
Thanks I have anxiety attacks at public stores at first they check getting an emotional support but I realize I can’t take them anywhere public and I usually have them in public
I have anxiety (but never went to a doctor) but during my day once a day a have a anxiety attack or panic attacks. I can’t breathe properly, my heart starts beating really fast, my hand starts shaking really bad and I cant talk like normal I talk like in fear. Sometimes my stomach hurts and I few the sensation that my knees can’t support me. I want to sit really bad. But I never went to a doctor. Edit: I’m not American but I live in California so no health insurance and no money. Idk were to begging 🥺
You could potentially contact a clinic and ask if they have any available students that are working on a practicum. Also, you can find clinics that are not for profit and can do a sliding scale based on your income.
1. Don't train your dogs to fight other dogs in public. 2. Don't make them food aggressive. 3. Love on them and teach them how to act no matter what color or culture.
I spoke to my old psychiatrist a few years ago about getting a service dog. He told me that he didn’t think a service dog would work for me, and when I tried to explain why I thought having one would work for me. He then said I just wanted to have a pet dog. I had 3 dogs at the time. I have a new psychiatrist now
You didn’t deserve him to dismiss your feelings & request . I’m happy that you got new psychiatrist & I’m excited that maybe you’ll get a support animal 💓
Why would it be different to have a service dog, since you have 3 of them? I'm not sure what a service dog does differently for things depression or anxiety? My cats help quite a bit, but they aren't trained of course w/ whatever training a dog might have.
I find myself prioritizing my dogs needs over my own a lot. But at other times its the only thing that gets me out of bed. to me its a fair trade. Also taking care of my dog reminds me that i need to wake up, eat, go outside etc. he wont let me sleep in until he is fed/walked bc he knows i will sleep all day if he lets me lol.
The definition of what qualifies as a disability when it comes to mental health intrigues me. I wonder if behaviors caused by what would be considered mild anxiety for example could affect the diagnosis. For example, according to that definition, I simply have mild anxiety though I am diagnosed with severe anxiety. When my anxiety is triggered I am still able to go about daily life for the time being. But if not addressed within the next hour or two, can lead me to what we call a "shut down" where I will not respond to any outside stimuli, outside of a visible flinch away from any touch. I will run if bothered for too long and if any try to physically remove my from my shut down I'll latch onto the closest thing and it'll take quite a bit of effort to retrieve me safely. The last time this happened all the school staff, security, and local police had to pull me from a bathroom stall and this took almost 4 hours alone. Perhaps a service dog could be trained to recognize and prevent the first signs of a shutdown, or if one does happen provide instruction to available adults nearby of how to retrieve me (as well as find me should I attempt hiding) via papers in pockets on it's vest.
I need serious clarification. So I struggle so badly with depression and anxiety that it has made it physically impossible for me to stay out of my bed for more than four hours. If I am out longer than that I simply get light-headed and panicky. Now here's the thing, because I live with my parents who FORCE me to do everything (get out of bed, go to school, leave the house, etc) would I still qualify? If it weren't for them I literally would have dropped out and stayed in bed all day, even with their reminding I still sometimes don't have the energy to talk, eat, drink, take my meds, etc. I've also lost multiple jobs due to frequent and uncontrollable manic episodes. Again if it weren't for them I literally wouldn't-couldn't do anything with my life.
I'm 20 and have Sever Anxiety, an eating disorder, Panic Attacks, OCD, Dissociative episodes and Autism. I'm currently in the process of being evaluated for a service animal💗 as of now I live with my parents and refuse to leave the house without one of them.
Same i refuse to go out alone i literally can't go out by myself bc if i would i would have anxiety or panic attack and i have severe anxiety also and it's sooo bad that sometimes i can't do anything
I'm going to a psychiatrist soon. I'm going to try some other treatments before resorting to a PSD. However I think a PSD would help me alot. I can't talk to people and end up having small breakdowns after conversations especially with new people. I can't speak infront of people. My meds helped but now I've reached the max dosage and it's starting to work less. I literally spent 5 years of my life unable to sleep without my back against my wall, having constant nightmares, paranoia over people and sounds, and literally having visual hallucinations.
I have a panic disorder that has caused me to faint on two occasions in the past; it's well managed now and my cat fills the role of emotional support animal (though I haven't gotten any paperwork for that, she helps by just being herself tbh) but it is in the back of my head that if I'm ever forced off my meds for whatever reason or if it gets Bad again i may need to look into a support dog that can help if i get lightheaded, unfortunately I'm allergic to dogs lmao
I am gonna get a service dog for my anxiety and depression. My doc either says it’s high functioning anxiety or autism. We both agreed that we think I could benefit from one more than not. I am very dependent and I can’t be alone outside of my house or I’ll have a panic attack or medical episode. I’m looking to get a golden retriever bc their success rate is SUPER high for service dog work
I have bad axienty to the point I can’t go outside on my own. I also get very terrified from loud noises (from past “things “) to where im shaking . I also get very freaked out during drills .I’m always stressed too.(other things make me very stressed to the point I’m crying/almost) And nothing seems to help. Do you think I should get a service dog?
I am unsure if I need a dog at all. I haven’t been diagnosed. All I know is I have extremely bad anxiety though it hasn’t been as bad as it was in my past years

I have anxiety and depression. I get panic attacks on the daily, usually multiple times. For example when I have one I will tap my foot, scratching and pinching my arms and legs. I was wondering if I would qualify, I am in middle school and want this to stop it’s been happening sense I was 8, and I’m on meds but it’s getting worse.
I want to get my son a service dog he has depression and anxiety bc his dad passed away on his birthday last year but he also has vasovegal syncope that comes along with it and when he gets emotionally elevated he passes out and walks his head on stuff.
I might’ve missed it but I didn’t hear you say the difference between service dogs and emotional support animals. It’s important to talk about the public access rights. Service dogs have public access right to do their training as we are emotional support Animals don’t have public access They are not permitted in public spaces.
Emotional support animals don’t even help or even trained, they just say they are servicedogs to get brought into stores when they don’t even put them on a leash, they carry them in their cart and man, I have my servicedog I trained myself he just ignores all those that are in carts barking supposedly considered as servicedogs..it all takes TIME & PATIENCE if you want a servicedog (a lot of treats)
hello, i have currently been out of school for over 7 months because of my anxiety. It stops me from doing even the simplest of tasks but i might be getting medication soon depending if there is medication for my anxiety levels. I cant even open the door for an uber eats person who im only going to say 'hi' and 'thankyou' to because i get so anxious.
I absolutely understand. I'm no longer in school but when I was, I was consistently missing school. It was awful. I desperately wanted to be able to do things that other people could do. What I wouldn't have given to be able to have a PSD at the time (and even now, I'm saving for it currently). But I do think you should look into it; you would absolutely qualify. I wish you the best and am sending you lots of love. 💗
So was wondering if I qualify. I have an anxiety disorder, a panic disorder and PTSD. When I have panic attacks I get dizzy (making it hard to stand or walk) I get migraines (that affect my vision in my right eye. It either gets blurry or I just completely can’t see out of it) and I can leave my house but when I get into public I can’t go into public places without getting anxious and I have panic attacks. I also am anorexic so I don’t eat a lot but idk if that has anything to do with it. I often pull all nighters bc my anxiety gets to me so I don’t sleep a lot. Idk if I should talk to my doctor but even on my walks if I come across a car I get anxiety (I’ve nearly been hit 3 times). One of the only things that help are dogs, I’ve tried 20+ tips to try to help but nothing works. What should I do?
Can you have a dog that is trained to do service dog work and not be certified or legally recognized? I at points have severe anxiety attacks and have a long history of self harm. I would like a dog that would be trained to intervene to prevent or stop that. But by the definition given in this video I don’t know if people would see as a disability.
Don't go by these online videos. Talk to a professional. A service dog can be trained at home. You don't need registration, although it's recommended. (USA) All you need is the dog to behave through extensive training to be behaved in a public space, and to perform a task related to assisting you with your disability.
@E Boston registration to a website promoting is different from registering your dog to other dog compliant sources. I think we are speaking on 2 different things.
I thought about getting a service animal for my PTSD, but I honestly think a personal protection dog would be better suited. I was almost game-overed by someone I know, and that has re-engaged my PTSD to an almost debilitating point. Knowing I have a dog that will defend me would put me more at ease. Unfortunately, my current dogs have proven to be big chicken dogs (though I don't blame them because it was a very scary situation). Knowing what kind of service you need from a dog is important. ESAs, SAs, and PPDs all have a place and purpose. Make sure you talk with your doctors to figure out which is best for you.
I have severe depression/anxiety and ADHD and I’ve asked many time for my parents to get me a service dog. They won’t because they’re like “oh you take medication so you don’t need one” I’m thinking of training my dog but my parents won’t let me. Mind you I have panic attacks quite frequently whenever I’m around other people.
I have anxiety I have been to the doctor for it she recommended therapy but it didn’t help I stopped going.when I talk to my parents about it they shut me up. What should I do I’m 13
Hello! I can go outside and go to school with medication but going to a place such as the mall even with my extra anxiety medication dosage causes me to have a panic attack, would I be qualified for a service animal?
Just watching this makes my anxiety sky high RN the only reason why I am watching the is bc I am training my dog to be my service dog rn bc I have rlly bad anxiety I can't go anywhere without think about people and I am rlly scared of people so yea that's why I am training mine
Great video! Is there anyone adopting dogs from shelters, training them and then selling them as emotional support or service animals? My disabled mother has been on a waitlist for almost a year, meanwhile dogs are being euthanized if not adopted. Seems like a great service for everyone
i physically cant leave the house because of my anxiety and depression, i think a service dog would benefit me but i cant afford one due to high cost, i would be able to afford their basic needs (like food, equipment, etc) but cant afford the actual service dog, anyone got any tips?
I have had anxiety for a few years and wanted to g3t a emotional support dog to stop me from doing bad habits feeding my anxiety. Example stop me shaking my leg and focus on something else? What do I get?
What do you mean by service support dog? Service dogs and Emotional support animals are two separate things, the terms aren’t interchangeable. ESAs are pets that provide emotional support, they are not allowed anywhere in public that is not pet friendly. Phsychiatric dogs are task trained to mitigate a disability (emotional support is not a task by law) and they are allowed anywhere in public even if it’s not pert friendly, with a few exceptions of places they can be denied legally.
i currently havent attended a full day of school since april 2022. Ive have ptsd from my old school, severe anxiety, depression, and agoraphobia. I dont know if i would qualify for a SD but i want to knwo the price for emotional support dogs. I have talked to my school about it and they said that they might consider looking into it for me.
Hey! Im so sorry to hear that. Service dogs can help ANYONE with a mental or physical impairment that effects daily life. I’d say you qualify. Sending much love 💕
I have ptsd extremely bad and got a cat as an emotional support how do i register her to be my service animal. Because my ptsd has gotten so bad i have panic attacks going in public. I took my cat riding with me one day and it helped. What website and steps do i use to register my cat as a service animal😢?
Naw, cats can’t be service animals, if you train it to be on a leash, sits stays, does everything you tell it to do especially in public on a LEASH..not carrying it inside your cart going shopping
I need a service dog my mommy and daddy are going to get me one because I have several learning differences and several ADHD and several autism and several Seizures
I'm a frontline respiratory therapist who cared for the 1st Community spread COVID patient in the United States. I suffer from PTSD. Due to our state laws, I'm not categorized as a first responder, therefore do not have access to the financial resources that others receive. I have 3 young kids, and want to be around to see them grow up. Can somebody help me get a service dog please?
If I have understood you correctly, you said that Service Dogs are indeed allowed everywhere... ABSOLUTELY TRUE. Than you mentioned that the dogs have to be in an area that permits them.. NOT TRUE. The ADA is a Government Agency protecting the rights of both you & your Dog. Call their toll free number & they are the ones I recommend you speak with, as they will advise as to the Federal Laws on this matter.
Yeah, doesn’t seem very accessible to those with disabilities-especially if they rely on SSDI. I was looking up info for a few disabled people that I thought would benefit from this but they won’t be able to afford it.
If you cannot afford a service dogs there are programs that help you get money and some programs that get you them free and they get the money from donations
I have my dog. Shes a husky but she has been undergoing training since 2 months and its been 6 months I'm in hospital because of a failed attempt. And i miss her If she was here, she would stay on the bed at my foot until i ask her to come with me

And she's about 5 years old now I've trained her to my standards on what I expect from her and she's great she's not regeristed as of yet but going to work on getting that happen. She's is going to be my ESD.
I don't like things I've not seen nor subscribe to a channel before I've seen its content. It's not my responsibility to ensure your channel grows. It's your responsibility to put out quality content that makes people want to return for more. Perhaps request a like and subscribe at the end of a video? After someone has had the chance to view your content? Food for thought.
People may read this as harsh and think that you are (fill in the blank), but I have often thought the same. What I don’t mind is if someone puts in their intro something like “if, after watching, you have found this helpful/enjoyable etc. please consider 👍🏽”. Then the same at the end. Now, I haven’t watched this yet (scanning comments gives me an idea of what I’ll be seeing/if I want to see it) and this might be similar to what the person says 🤦🏽♀️. But I thought you’d appreciate you’re not the only one. I will do ‘all the things’ if I like what I see and would like to help a channel grow because of good content.
I’m only part-way through the video and notice how often you say “I guess”. Is it habit when speaking? It makes me feel a bit like you’re not fully informed? Honest question, no judging.
@@magpiesneedle2575 I do appreciate it, thank you. I noticed the same and it was one of the things that made me comment. I wish the channel owner had replied. Perhaps he will to you.
I have a lady in my building that has a dog that pees in the hallways. Completely untrained. Then turns around and calls it a service dog when we ask her to get it trained.
Stop calling an emotional support animal a service dog please. Emotional support animals do not hagve the same Rights as a service dog ajnd it really is making it look bad people with truly untrained dogs walking around with service animal on a dog that is untrained.
He's not calling ESA's a trained service animal. In this video, he's literally referring to Psychiatric Service Dogs. Those are VERY different than Emotional Support animals. An ESA does not require training and, like you said, doesn't have the same rights as service dogs. Psychiatric Service Dogs, on the other hand, ARE trained and ARE protected under law for travel and going into businesses, etc.
@@vinovinrose1 Right now, i'm on a search for a dog that needs a home, rather than trying to buy an expensive one from a breeder. Whether it's un-diagnosed CPSTD. Those dogs are not allowed in hospit'll.Or. Or any other place?I know this for a fact Because support dogs are not regular. Dogs for handicap. These dogs have not been trained. Therefore they're not. You don't get a service dog for anxiety. You get an emotional support animal. Emotional support animals are NOT the same thing as service animals and they are NOT entitled to go wherever service animals go.
Get a "Service Dog" a dog if you "feel" you have to have it to survive, (think how ridiculous that actually is) stay home & let the rest of us enjoy a meal without dog hair

I’m gonna talk to my psychiatrist today to see what she says
Edit: I also take meds but doesn’t help me totally
go get a dog, people does dont understand when you live with mental condition but dogs are angels
I hope whatever you are going through that you can get through it dogs are the best.
Tell them the dog can get your meds for you 😉
My wife had an AvM( brain bleed) and she was in desperate need of an emotional support animal. Even though we got this little peekachu as a puppy, he has grown into the best dog for the job. He is not all business so he knows he a dog so when he sees a squirrel 🐿️ he is on his tail. But if she has a bad day he don't leave her side. We luv u Chino!!!
I had a brain bleed as well, wife had concussion in the same accident. I have severe depression and anxiety. She has acute PTSD and high anxiety.

I think a service dog could change my life
Yeah but who can afford tens of thousands to get trained to certified as service dog to travel together ¿ I just want those tiny dogs size.

@@janettemartin4604 Oh dw!! I take care of my pet lizard and my dog, takin care of another dog is no problem with me.
That’s what’s happening with me. It makes me so sad. I just decided to train my girl anyways. She helps a lot.

I don't know why but every time I asked for help on this nobody reached out and my parents didn't want to help because they didn't want strangers to think that there is " something wrong " with me
I qualify, the hard part now is just actually going out and talking. (I haven’t been out of my house for a month or two 😣)
When the topic is about dogs that is a very good conversation starter hang in there whatever you are going through.
Good luck, honey.
My dog is an emotional support animal. My therapist wrote the note for me and it didn’t cost me a single thing.
Since an ESA is not the same as a PSD, that makes sense. At the moment I have an ESA that my psychiatrist confirmed for me but I'm saving for a trained PSD. 💗
Please do more research before posting. It only takes a minute to learn the difference between a PSA and a ESA.
ESA is not a PSA.
Emotional support animals are not service animals and do not have public w esa
I only want my service dog to be a rescue.
Did you ever find out the answer I want to know as well
There are places that give service dogs for free to veterans.

I have a new psychiatrist now
He seemed very rude. I'm so glad you got a new one.
@@SpanishBarbieWorldA support animals is NOT a service animal.
The idea of a dog sounds good, but I don’t leave my house, so the care, feeding, walking seems overwhelming
I find myself prioritizing my dogs needs over my own a lot. But at other times its the only thing that gets me out of bed. to me its a fair trade. Also taking care of my dog reminds me that i need to wake up, eat, go outside etc. he wont let me sleep in until he is fed/walked bc he knows i will sleep all day if he lets me lol.
i’ve got anxiety and bipolar disorder so i’m gonna try and get one of these puppers
You should Quified for a ESD
I need a service dog but I don't have enough money for one
You can self train a service dog but you have to look up those laws for your area

All I know is I have extremely bad anxiety though it hasn’t been as bad as it was in my past years
Brilliant info, now i’ll turn that into practice, apply and Get a permit.
There us NO permits for service dogs.
Does anyone know if being forced to go to school counts as not bad enough? (I have anxiety attacks like once a month)
Q3. Are emotional support, therapy, comfort, or companion animals considered service animals under the ADA?
A. No. These terms are used to describe animals that provide comfort just by being with a person. Because they have not been trained to perform a specific job or task, they do not qualify as service animals under the ADA. However, some State or local governments have laws that allow people to take emotional support animals into public places. You may check with your State and local government agencies to find out about these laws.
Absolutely
What would you recommend for a 27 year old with anxiety and autism
I want to get my son a service dog he has depression and anxiety bc his dad passed away on his birthday last year but he also has vasovegal syncope that comes along with it and when he gets emotionally elevated he passes out and walks his head on stuff.
I might’ve missed it but I didn’t hear you say the difference between service dogs and emotional support animals. It’s important to talk about the public access rights. Service dogs have public access right to do their training as we are emotional support Animals don’t have public access They are not permitted in public spaces.
Emotional support animals don’t even help or even trained, they just say they are servicedogs to get brought into stores when they don’t even put them on a leash, they carry them in their cart and man, I have my servicedog I trained myself he just ignores all those that are in carts barking supposedly considered as servicedogs..it all takes TIME & PATIENCE if you want a servicedog (a lot of treats)
if im too scared to go to school and in public and i havent gone outside in a month and skipped school for around 30 days this year qualify?
hello, i have currently been out of school for over 7 months because of my anxiety. It stops me from doing even the simplest of tasks but i might be getting medication soon depending if there is medication for my anxiety levels. I cant even open the door for an uber eats person who im only going to say 'hi' and 'thankyou' to because i get so anxious.
i have autism btw
He said if it holds you back from needed and important life tasks. school and getting food sounds like it qualifies. Autism is also an added criteria.
Where are the links you referenced? Specifically psychiatric service dog vs ESA?
Are there no financial assistance programs to help low income people get a service dog ?
Yes(for training, but not for upkeep {ie food and vaccination}), but it depends on what state.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to start a conversation with my therapist about this?
i stayed home from school for nearly five month’s straight due to depression and anxiety, that counts as a disability, right?
Can you have a dog that is trained to do service dog work and not be certified or legally recognized? I at points have severe anxiety attacks and have a long history of self harm. I would like a dog that would be trained to intervene to prevent or stop that. But by the definition given in this video I don’t know if people would see as a disability.
Don't go by these online videos. Talk to a professional. A service dog can be trained at home. You don't need registration, although it's recommended. (USA) All you need is the dog to behave through extensive training to be behaved in a public space, and to perform a task related to assisting you with your disability.
LOL no such thing as registration for service dogs in the u.s.
@E Boston registration to a website promoting is different from registering your dog to other dog compliant sources. I think we are speaking on 2 different things.

What if I work full time but avoid anyone at all costs? I lose it in seconds and scare myself sometimes cause I cld do something stupid.
I need a service dog because i get so stressed i just stand there and sometimes i have panic attacks

Yeah, doesn’t seem very accessible to those with disabilities-especially if they rely on SSDI. I was looking up info for a few disabled people that I thought would benefit from this but they won’t be able to afford it.

If you are unable to have a dog where you live then visit shelters and volunteer to play with dogs ;)
I only want my service dog to be a rescue.
❤
Friendly reminder that emotinal support animals do not have public access
Friendly reminder that a psychiatrist service dog are not emotional support dogs, they are service dogs
“We will link an explanation”
Doesn’t link it
I'd rather adopt a stray dog from a homeless shelter.
The dog will feel your love regarless is SD or street dog. You can train the or better they can help you to understand your hormonal release
@@vinovinrose1 Right now, i'm on a search for a dog that needs a home, rather than trying to buy an expensive one from a breeder.
Whether it's un-diagnosed CPSTD. Bipolar disorder, Burn-out, Anxiety&depression, ADHD, or just mild depression, i know that I need a dog that needs a Forever home in my life.
Your dog will pick up on your vibes..any good dog will. Its all about the relationship with the pet. Keep your money.
You can do that! You'd just need to train the dog to become a PSD (though it would need to be tested on its training to be qualified as a PSD). :)
Those dogs are not allowed in hospit'll.Or.
Or any other place?I know this for a fact Because support dogs are not regular.
Dogs for handicap.
These dogs have not been trained.
Therefore they're not. Qualified to entered hospitals or any other place we had an order them out. I don't like dogs in Walmart. Or hospitals. Because support dolphin, jump out and attack other dogs.A regular service don't let this guy full you Service dogservice dogs are trained. These dogs are half not trained. Most places now and I agree with them. They're not being allowed in hospitals.Or stores
Dog pooping in the house gives me anxiety and depression
Folks. Get some fresh air, eat healthy, exercise, read, and work on yourselves please. Life is tough, but you are ALL living in the easiest time in human history
FFS all you need is an ESA
ESA are not service dogs

You can train your own service dog.
@Ausgar-yc1yl im not able to another animal live in apt wasnt PLANNING on 2 cats but they over ruled me. Have 2 cats is pushing limits. Place where i live doesn't hardly allow any animals. Needing to move from where i am now to find a place can afford plus allow 2 cats which are E.S.P.A. is rough
@@guppy0536 I wish you luck in finding a new place. I am sorry they are giving you a rough time.
