You also have an empty wall to the left hand side ..... Consider a heat resistant glass worktop saver (you can even get ones with designs and colours). And consider what you do cook ..... Stews? Maybe get a slow cooker ...... Fried? Air Fryer ...... Stir fries? Electric Wok. Otherwise, it seems to me that you have made a great lifestyle for yourself!
I had an apartment like this in tokyo, except i had a tiny balcony where i kept my washing machine and hung my laundry. I ended up living in it for three years! I saved so much money, i paid off my student debt in three years.
I lived in an apartment that exact size my first six months in Japan. You get used to it. The Apartment I spent the most time and was 36 m². It seems small at first, but I really got used to and enjoyed the size. $200, great price!
I have a 40 meter apartment as a phd student in Germany . I struggle to keep it tidy , i must learn from you some of these tips to keep the house minimalistic .
Hey man! I remember seeing your videos around a year ago when you first started. I just recently got your videos recommended again and am blown away with how much your cinematography and videos have improved!! Continue to keep up the good work and I'm sure your channel will reach that 100k subscribers mark really soon.
I live in Germany and my apartment is about the same size. I also have a small laptop table that I use for everything. For many people it would be too small, but I personally like living in such a small, minimalist (and cheap) apartment.
Get a wood board and have to cut down to size so that you can cover the sink when not in use. That will give you more counter space to prep your meals bruh. Big ups from Saint Lucia.
New subscriber here. I'm in a 1500 sq foot home in rural USA on 3.5 acres. I'm torn because I love living here but also can't help but image being in your shoes. I have an incredible amount of maintenance that I share with my husband. But it can be exhausting at times. Just another idea for you and your so wonderfully teeny kitchen. Two cutting boards. One for the entire cook top area to include your hand space and the other for just the sink. You can do your meal prep work with the sink open to rinsing whatever veg and also cleanup your dishes/utensils. Get that put away then cover the sink to move your prepped food over and uncover your cook top. Thanks for sharing your world. I look forward to viewing your other videos. You're doing a most excellent job!
@@LaJuan.FTB1 Thank you for the kind words. My go to system is creating a list of extra tasks on top of my daily routine and sticking to it till everything is accomplished, though that's sometimes two days later. lol
I love your living room! Simple yet it is comfortable. Also like your color scheme of white and blue, nothing is overwhelming and it’s clean looking. Very nice!
Your apartment is actually nice. For the kitchen part you could consider buying a sink chopping board that you could put over the sink and that will "double" the space for prepping food.
I love what you’ve done with the place! Your bedroom, office, and living room look so inviting, bright and beautiful with the pops of blue against the white in the sunlight.
The hanging things you hang your clothes up onto the wall on are for curtains. They help insulate the walls during winter so the heat stays in and it reduces heating costs. (I grew up poor and we used rugs and tapestries for that, which is how i know) :) As a minimalist, (one that doesn't have a lot of stuff but utilizes the stuff I have) i actually like your apartment and feel like it's a true minimalist vibe.
Although small you’ve created a lovely bright, clean organises space. It feels very light and airy. I applaud you on the minimalist…one thing I would really struggle with
The hooks above your desk are designed to be used to hang up your clothes. Your apartment is well designed. I'm impressed that you are able to fit a full sized bed, rather than a twin as I see so often in Japanese micro apartments.
You can also use the hook system to hang things on the wall without having to make holes in the wall, such as paintings, key holder, ..., by using transparent or white wire/thread. The idea of using the rug to create the illusion of separate zones is quite clever. It also adds some warmth and depth to the white and bright room. Nice video :D
I love it. Its almost the same size with my apartment here in South Africa. The only difference is that i stay with my children, yip in that small space 😅😅. We make it work though. Thanks for the video
Very nice, and very livable. Much better than the tiny home trailers I see all over You Tube. ! Love this apartment ! Bright, clean, practical , livable ! 🥰🍃🍂🍁💗✝
I get the idea of the genkan, but, as a disabled person, what I see when I see a genkan is a perfectly accessible place made inaccessible by a single step. It would be nice to have that space for shoes without the step. There are so few accessible homes (anywhere, not just in Japan), that this simple change would make a big difference without inconveniencing abled people.
Just don't step with your socks into the genkan! It's seen as a "dirty" area, that's why you keep your outdoor shoes there. Directly step with your socks into the clean inside area, then your apartment will stay even cleaner. Lovely place you have!
You can get a big chopping board to go over the sink as working space in the kitchen. And when you don't use it you slide it somewhere vertically out of the way till you need it again. I also have a lack of kitchen counter issue, it worked for me
I love it ❤ . I feel like I have too much anyway. I haven't been a good steward of all my stuff and I 2 rooms in my home that I don't even use, but I'm getting at downsizing. I'm so glad I came across your channel 😊
You can have a cutting board on top of your cooktop for prepping. Just get a couple of cut 2x4’s , put them on each side of the cooktop , and then just place a thick cutting board over them ( creating height over the cooktop ). This can help with counter space while still being able to use the sink to wash veggies for example. Another very useful thing nowadays that every home should have, is an Air Fryer. Man….i just can’t live without it. You do have space for it, so it can help with the cooking .
Get a wooden or heavy duty plastic cutting board big enough to cover the sink hole and that will extend your one handed counter top to both hands 🥰 store it over the sink or stand it on its side on the side of the wall next to the burner.
In all the homes I've lived, while I've enjoyed more square footage for visual appeal, I stil tend to concentrate my activity to tight spaces I think of as "mission central" or "the captain's chair". The rest of the dwelling is sparse. I can be quite content in that sized space. The ceiling rail hooks are to hang things (clothes, decor) and not put holes in your wall for hooks. I understand that in Japan you can purchase wires or other hardware bits for the rails that will suit your needs.
This apartment it cute, clean and efficient. I like it. I might get a higher base for the bed to allow even more storage beneath it but it's also good as it is.
Since your bed is small you can convert it to a MURPHY BED it will increase space when you need a bigger room. 2) over head boards or counters that run across walls will create space and free ground space
Very cool - how does one find an apt like this? I am thinking to go to Japan soon and wondering of the best sites to find a space like the one you have.
Hi from Australia, thanks for your detailed and cheerful video. Just a thought, when you're clearing the lounge space for strectching can you sit the table and chair on your bed? You wouldn't need to fold the table legs up. Just plonk them up there and when finished put them back in place
One thing I really do not get and I've seen this many times within other videos of different people: If you get out off your shoes why not get out of them already facing the direction of the entrance and immediately get out of your shoes and step onto the apartment floor with clean socks. Because if you get out off shoes within the dirty shoe area and step onto the same floor your shoes touched the floor you are taking the dirt, bacteria etc from the outside world into your apartment. I do this at my home too.
I like that mini apartment. If I lived in one, I would put a curtain room divider for a separate bedroom. And buy a small couch for the living room and I'll need a bigger refrigerator too.
Actually a very cute apartment…..and looks comfy…..has done a good job with it. And can get a cutting board of some kind to cover sink which will help a little.
1:46 Hey. I am using the same dish soap. I prefer the bottle to be a tab bigger. Seems I need to refill it up quite frequent. 6:57 That is strange. It looks like a curtain rod of some sort maybe was to divide the other side of the wall which was part of the whole room space and now split into 2 separate units and they forgot to remove it??? How is the insulation? Does it get cold/hot when you turn off the ac unit quickly??
Hello first time seeing one of your videos, just want to say the rack thing on the wall is for hanging art like japanese wall scrolls, they do that so people don't go banging nails in the walls.
in this kind of kitchen people but extra large wooden cutting board .sink cutting board.and put it on top of sink to get that extra area for preparing meals, later you can just store it . Btw I love the video, its cute place , pretty good price
Try using a cutting board that covers the sink area. That will increase your counter space.
That's a great idea man! I'll grab one haha
I did this too. I also used small wooden blocks so the cutting board sat level over the burner and the little area the size of your hand.
I was going to mention the same thing.

Me too, clean and tidy. Foldable vacuum and mop .... impressive.
For $200, that is a steal! It would cost at least $1000 for that size in Singapore! Lucky u

I love the small living of Japan ! Can save a lot and it's so non-judgemental
It's the 'the office' sign for me 😂
😂😂 Work with what you have right?
Would never have guessed the apartment size based on past videos. I love the plants and accents.
This is genius. It’s a perfectly designed space for one person. So many storage options! I’m impressed!
Thank you!
I wish we had apartments like this in northern Ontario. I would actually be able to afford it.
So clean and organised! Amazing 🤩

Air fryer brother! Air fryer....
Air fried food is the best. This comment deserves a super like.
Convection oven uses even less electricity.
Great idea!
You brought an air flyer, and brought into consumerism.

This was the best descriptive walk thru I’ve seen. Living as a minimalist does seem inviting. Very simplistic and grounding. Wish you the best 👍🏾

I like it. Awesome. I think that the hook system on the wall is for some sort of curtain.
I thought so too! But its so random to hang a curtain on a wall, or I'm too unsophisticated to understand why someone would. Probably the later lol
