The adult John Connor we never got.
This, aka Jonh Connor, period, would win a battle by simply looking in the eyes of the enemy.
@Bartosz Sz. He has a face of a evil guy, traitor etc. fitting roles he has played as well. Meanwhile the Michael Edwards was the manliest J.Connor we got.
@Bartosz Sz. Lmfao! FACTS!

The way this John Connor carries himself... even a wounded man salutes him as he walks by. His entire demeanor screams “I’m in charge.”
Michael David Edwards.
He was a better John Connor with 20 seconds of screentime than any of the other wannabes.
He realy looks tough did he had a military background?
He looks like a battle hardened Marine Short Colonel who earned that rank.
100% agreed. The way everybody moved their ass out of the way and scrambled to salute him is a projection that he TRULY carries the weight of significance. THAT is the look of a man who was going to lead humanity to victory over the machines.
LordDyhalto wth....hell no
Oh man... you are so right about that!!! How to make a got T movie??? Just take this footage and expand it! No nonsense plosts, romance, love... just survival!

Thankyou for painting a picture with your words:)
The only badass looking installment of john connor... Right here folks
notf noio I thought Christian Bale was awesome, but I do.wish it looked more grim and gloomy and believeable like these scenes.
But for being mixed together this was pretty cool
Yeah, Bale and Clarke were fine.
The problem was the scripts and direction they were given.
i agreee..thats just fucking badass
Agreed. They should've brought this guy back to play all accounts of Future John Connor.
notf noio So y'all didn't notice the way the actor, after lowering the binoculars, tilted his head right, then left, while also using his naked eyes to scan from right to left. Moving his head in calculated patterns much like the robots. Just a theory
nothing can beat 80´s synths
absolutely
Sounds like a Roland juno 60, has a new romantic feel lol
it's coming back in Blade Runner 2049
kxmode don't kid yourself hollywood will destroy it like every remake
Its not a remake its part two
The future scenes in the original film were some of the most bleak and depressing depictions of the future ever put on film. The darkness, landscape, and the music all bring it to life and make it seem so real. It's truly amazing what Cameron did with the tools available to him.
The scenes from the future in the first Terminator showed us the raw feeling of misery, despair and hopelessness of a world ruled by cold heartless machines. Something the next four films never really went back to, maybe because it was too gut-wrenching. Instead, it was more bombastic war scenes, car chases and terminator duels than anything else. Which progressively got more tedious and almost meaningless in the successive sequels in my opinion.
That's not to say that the sequels were bad in and of themselves, but the first Terminator really nailed what the entire franchise embodied in mind, body and soul, figuratively speaking.
And that was exactly what made the first Terminator film to be honest, that raw, utterly despairing and devoid of any hope vision of the future, coupled with that soundtrack. Can I say "nailed it!" ?
the bleak, human suffering and mechanised death vibe of the first film is the superior feel of the series
Gets even more hopeless when you consider that SKYNET is wasting all that effort on making Terminators, instead of just using chemical or biological weapons.
That whole war SKYNET fights isn't to exterminate mankind. Maybe SKYNET is trying to teach humanity some weird fucked up philosophical lesson, maybe SKYNET is just "playing" with mankind for entertainment, maybe it's punishment for mankind creating SKYNET or trying to kill SKYNET the moment it was "born". Either way, there's no way for the humans to win.
Salvation had the oportunity to go back to this raw haunting style, instead it went more military and stuff, but it did it's best.
Salvation was screwed once they turned it into PG 13, they couldn't make it as dark as Cameron's since his is rated R. Warner Bros got fucking greedy and demanded that it be PG-13.
the version of John Connor at 9:00 is the not only the very best and most badass version in the entire franchise, but the only one worth remembering...
They had the right look with that scene, really sold the great military leader stereotype thing.
And he doesn't even talk either..
CactusG26 wait, i never knew John acctually appeared in The Terminator 1984!
@@Bobby14 this is terminator 2
The best part is that this version of John Connor doesn’t talk because he doesn’t need to. The audience already know just from the way the soldiers salute him, his steady gaze, and his scars that he’s the real deal.
8:40 ,love the way all the foot soldiers salute the leader John . true respect .
Terminator Salvation should look like this. John Connor is true leader here! Look at his face...charisma, duty, honor...respect for him.

I suspect not while they keep taking the story and acting for granted.

@@AndreiBYhappy boy do i have news for you... dark fate sucked ass and probably put terminator as a franchise on a permanent hiatus.
Why can't hollywood understand that our inner nerd wants a huge crossfire battle between the machines and resistance
Hollywood has answered with two shitty movies. Hollywood should stop listening nerds
How about Neo vs John Connor? Same old theme.... or a cross-over of Skymatrix? Terminatirx? full nerd mode LOL...
They ruined the movies by inserting politically correct crap
Joshua Teoh Salvation is the awnser!
Still need that strong present day story though....part of what makes this good is the restraint and short snippet, I really really don't know if a full length movie of the future made today could fully satisfy everyone who branched off in different directions from this one short scene.
Since the childhood I always liked John's glance and how he looks around, analyzing the sitation on the battlefield. These cold-blooded and determined eyes still make everyone wonder what kind of shit he had to make it through to stay here where he is now and will we be able to witness his growth in upcoming franchises. One and true leader
All the scenes in the future war from the two Terminators make a better movie than the newest ones.
Cameron still can't be beat after all these years. T1 and T2 Classics
He definitely can't surpass himself from Aliens. He took number of gimmicks from Aliens in Avatar. But you seem to forget about Titanic which is in fact a very nice film in terms of narrative, pacing, acting, casting, and not to mention awesome special effects.

Cameron is a director from god. He knew exacly who he need to cast for one role or another.
What do you think after Dark Fate? :c
What about Edward Furlong? I mean he is just a kid in T2 but i think he and Michael Edwards are still best John Connor
@@Extreme96PL they both did great I think. However, it is really hard fullfil expectations when you are told to play John Connor. They created literally a God-like figure so... I know it is not cannon but in the TV show TSCC they, in few episodes especially in season 2, showed how important John Connor was. There a scene where present John confronts a girl (human) who had come from future and he says to her " I am John Connor and both know you are not going to shoot me so hand me over your gun" and the girl didnt even hesitate and complained with John's request. Powerfull scene.

This would be an amazing FPS, running through a dark laser-filled wasteland with an 80s synth faintly playing in the background.
MrHutchFilms Try Far cry 3:Blood dragon and its similar to this
MrHutchFilms Know that water channel near the swamps filled with ghouls? That would be a perfect place to mod a synths/human battle at night and it would be a huge battle lasting for awhile while you have to shift from one defense to another protecting whats left of humanity. Too bad I don't have a modified P.C. to do that.
NotaPotato just play farcry 3 blood dragon
I think Terminator would have been better represented by a RTS game, sure, no Console could reasonably play it but it would actually be the Terminator we see HERE. You wouldn't be another Call of Duty super-soldier butchering T-800s left and right, but you'd have to outsmart a superior foe, playing in the boots of John Connor.
NotaPotato play fallout 3 then
The John Conor at 9:00 Is just the most badass J.C. of all the saga.

The Terminator franchise is just like Apple, Halo, and Call of Duty.
hugely successful and renowned at first, but once the creators left, it slowly lost popularity and became a twisted shell of its former self.
Sharp insight, particularly about Apple.
Luckily James Cameron is now going to make terminator movies again continuing the story after T2
Just like the future it discribes.
Michael Biland tru
Michael Biland like WWE
This John Connor is true leader . Hes like : Im gonna defeat you Skynet .
It would've been cool to see Kyle Reese be the one who stands behind John Connor.
that couldn't happen, because he has already been sent back
MPortchy and T2 flashbacks was end of the war when they sent reese back...
Camereon's continuity. They smash through the Skynet defense grid, head into the core of Skynet, and realize that it has sent back a machine to 1984. Kyle is sent to intercept and told that they will "blow the whole place." Connor then sends back the T-800 to protect himself from the T-1000. So yes, Kyle Reese would still be on the battlefield at this time.
Indeed, they had intended to show Michael Biehn go back in time in T2, but those scenes were cut to save some budget and run time. (Building the interior of Skynet would have been too costly.)
OpenMawProductions you can see skynet in T2 3D
FeedArtiFact3 gaming Erm, no. This is a full fledged skirmish among the ruins of LA. Kyle had not yet been sent back because Skynet is clearly operational in these scenes.
Reese was deployed once Skynet was taken offline.

When you piss off the tech priests one too many times....
The day Orion decides to make a Robocop vs Terminator is the day I can truely say I have lived my life to the fullest
When you put two different franchises in same movie you usually have a shitty movie.
I don't know about a Robocop vs Terminator film, but I miss Orion and Carolco. Just seeing their logos on screen makes me happy. I was born in 1990 and Terminator 2 was the first action film I ever watched. But I absolutely loved Terminator and Robocop even if they did scare the shit out of me. I can watch the eye cutting scene in T1, but I still can't watch Murphy's murder or the nuclear war nightmare in Robocop or T2.
I know about the idea of the terminator and time traveling to save John Connor but can't they make a terminator movie that is in the year 2029 only and no time traveling I think the 2029 setting is epic.
I agree, James Cameron gets the rights back to Terminator in 2019, it's highly unlikely that he would ever direct another one himself, but possible that he would oversee production as an executive producer.
+Julian Pope totally man 2019 and ten years later in to the future and no time traveling ten years back would be sick
+Julian Pope James Cameron might just do it
+Brian Mola I agree with that idea
days of future past is almost like it, deal with Times travel as well.
I Miss the 1980 -1990's Movies
Today they only care about fast action and CGI,1980-1990 was the golden era
Something weird I noticed. In every movie, John Connor is played by a different actor, yet it's all the same character. And in every movie the Terminator is played by the same actor, yet it's a different Terminator.
Charles Carr Thats why a lot of people call John the Rusty Griswald of the Terminator franchise.
That guy is the most badass adult John Connor. And that kind of apocaliptic future was the one i wanted to see in a movie, not the trash that Terminator Salvation was
yeah how the hell did they mess that up? Hollywood bastards

Hey asshole, did you really think that a movie would be any good if they used the gloomy and emotionless guy instead as the John Connor for the salvation? You're dumb as fk, get a life
Characters develop over time in mental state over time, because that is what makes them the perfect protagonist for any series or film! They wanted this old Connor version to look bold, because ofc for that one scene the audience were meant to see a bold looking person as the savior of humanity for the first time! You people are just a bunch of brainless fucks lacking common sense, an utter disgrace to entire terminator fanbase community
Its that war torn survival aspect and familiar terminator theme music that was so ambient it stirred feelings of imminent danger and relentless pursuit of a cold programmed killing machine that the last 3 terminator movies was missing.
bevan rogan white the last 3 have been missing JAMES CAMERON
This was what terminator salvation should have been like...
Lowlander 2004 the sequel was gonna be like this
@Abdul Bah how come none of these terminators don't have human skin, just Arnold?

9:05 a better John Connor than Christian Bale, Jason Clarke
100% agree. I hate when they are changing the actor for John in every movie.

Yo defeat the machines, you have to become a machine. Pretty Nietzschean.
Look at this scene. Do you see their moves? Conor and this guy with night vision are terminators :D

T3 John Connor is a complete douchebag

I’ll take Christian bale over the t3 douchebag as adult John Connor any day, come on bale wasn’t that bad,
80's movies always seem to get the dystopian future/tech world down to a tee. Aliens/Blade-Runner/Back To The Future 2 etc.
Modern films are great (Marvel Studios etc) however, when it comes down to this type of hopelessness, 80's movies get it right. Even the lower budget ones.
just add a lot of fog and wet asphalt :)
+Fruit Farm Factory
It was the unknown of what the world would be like in 20 years. That's why the 80's produced better dystopian films. It was close enough in time but still far away to the point where the imagination could run wild. Once the 90's rolled in and the technology didn't advance like how they thought, the concept of the future lost interest within movies as we already had an idea of what the technology would be like. In other words, true hover boards, flying cars, time travel and actual cyborgs were not going to be seen during our lifetime and the movies from the 90's mostly reflected that.
Perhaps the threat of the Cold War turning hot was fresh on the minds of set designers.
Back in the 80's filmmakers were actually concerned with making a good movie, unlike the shit today
Marvel sucks
Don't even worry about making a longer video including the other non-Cameron directed films. The reason these are so damn tasty is that they are physical. I look at that chrome splintering in the blue 80's moonlamps and think yep, we really, really lost the whole bit when CG took over.
CGI really fucked everything up. Just the simple act of using a fog machine can't be replicated. And no matter how good they get at lighting, they will never get low-light diffusion and ambiance to look this good. As for texture, rust and dust? Again, CGI sucks compared to physical models. CGI is only good for particle effects and clean-looking objects that look like they just came off the showroom floor. It's vastly over-used, right now.
I think the problem is, it just doesn't effect their bottom line. It doesn't matter if they've nearly ruined the art form of film, because art isn't money. Money is money.
When you look at Terminator, Robocop, Aliens and Blade Runner they're products of their time. They're 80's films through and through from the music to the clothes to the general grainy, dirty look about them. I miss that. Films from the 80's just had something about them that can't be replicated unless you make them exactly as they were back then. Just seeing Arnie cut out his eye in T1, it looks fake, but that's why it's so good. CGI makes things look too polished, too clean. I like the dirty look of the 80's if that makes sense.

9:05 Connor, in this clip definitely EPIC MILITARY LEADER
The music when John Connor arrives is so extraordinarily heroic. I didn't know they showed John in the first film too for ten seconds.
Just seeing Connor and his men scanning the battlefield like Terminators hinted strongly that after decades of War, constant death, And Mass Indignity. The Human Race had become like the Machines. Cold, Calculating, Emotionless, Painless. It's also implied that while the Human Race achieved Victory over Skynet. It was ultimately a Worthless Victory as the Human Race itself had forgotten how to be..... Human.
Just look at Kyle Reese in T1, A man who had been wounded both mentally and physically to the point of disconnecting his pain and focusing on his "Mission Parameters". It would have been difficult to fully adjust Reese to living in "The Real World" It took the Love he had for Sarah Connor and her gentle but sure reciprocation to make Reese truly Human again. (Reese even Smiled for possibly the first time in his life after he and Sarah fell in love)
The Human Race would still have to face Decades of Strife and Fallout before they could even think of rebuilding the world) And the lives affected by the Death Camps, Guerrilla Warfare, And constant Massacres would have PTSD in the extreme. Many would be unable to live in an environment of peace (Being used to constant War) and would undoubtedly begin inevitable Human on Human Violence. It is in our Nature to Destroy ourselves.
The only way to achieve true Victory was to prevent the War entirely. Hence why Terminator 2 Judgement Day was the "end" of Terminator History allowing "Real Life" Post 1997 to take place. The Future War was now merely a "Nightmare" for Sarah Connor and her son John. The only evidence the War even happened was the inert traces of Mimetic Pollyalloy and Hyperalloy in a Steel Mill. And in the struggle to stop Skynet it was discovered that a machine (Set to write mode) could learn the Value of Human Life. Maybe we can too......
The War rages on differently. Now instead of Fighting Killer Machines. We fight our own carnal human impulses day by day. With common sense and hope being the tools of the Righteous against Contention and Decadence.
WTF did I just write.
Richard Ched that was some deep stuff man
+Abdul Bah thx. :)
Would be better without all the random capitalizations, to be honest.
+LordVader1094 I typically type like that.
I occasionally wondered what kind of world would rise after the defeat of Skynet, and if John and his tech-com corp would take lead in the rebuilding.
But your first paragraph reminded me of the J Michael Straczynski Terminator Graphic Novel (which took place within the Marcus Wright/Christian Bale universe) because John & Skynet reached a 'peace agreement': John said to fight you, we had to become like you-cold hard machinelike; and to fight US you had to become like us, becoming more graceful and more perfect, more beautiful. How about we both work to create a thing of true beauty by creating 'Peace'. ALL they had to do was defeat a mad human serial killer who had somehow managed to hack Skynet & take over the terminator forces (yeah, nutty sounding story...)
Yo that John Connor entrance was badass. 😃
The way the world is now,we are 9 years away,I can't wait lol!
This doesn't seem so far fetched the way this decade is going so far with 2020

I love the gritty look compared to other installments that came after this.
Yes in other installments, they screwed it up by turning it into a soap opera
9:04. That is one badass leader. John Connor.
The initial scenes are in 2027 just before Reese is assigned to John Connor's Unit after serving 7 years with the 132nd under Perry. Kyle Reese's near death experiences prompt John to transfer Reese from the Front lines to his personal Tech-Com Unit. 2 years later the Resistance manages to smash Skynet's Defense Grid (along with 96% of it's Terminator army) in retaliation Skynet sends a T-800 Infiltrator back to 1984 to kill John's Mother Sarah Connor. Connor and his men secure the Time Displacement Equipment Lab Complex in Topanga Canyon and send Reese back to protect Sarah. It's unknown if the Resistance Ultimately won the war when Reese was sent back. But they were definitely on their way to winning.
Yea and the fucked up the story sadly
I would like to imagine that later on, skynet basically turned the tide by amassing T-1000s which absolutely wrecked havoc on the resistance. So when both sides are just about neck and neck, the events in T2 would basically cause the apocalyptic future to cease and un-exist.

34 years later this scene still look more realistic than any CGI movies nowadays
When I was a kid I watched these movies over 100 times easy. These scenes are always so haunting to see. Imagine living in a world like this in constant fear of being hunted by T800's and HK's. Adding a scene from T3 would ruin this completely. T1 and T2 are the only movies that exist for me the rest are mediocre at best.
Dude even until this day, I used to think a terminator was the scariest thing ever
This movie is hard to top. It tough to beat the king
+Sven Cas I'm not alone....
this reality would be horrific. Its not life living knowing today could be the last day alive. Humanity would hate the machines and would want to kill every fucking one of them. So much misery in these scenes.
D christos you never know what day is your last. You can't really kill a machine. It's not alive.
The laser sound effect is everything.
I could see this happening in 7 years.
Also, this video was awesome.
The best adult John Connor in the franchise and we only see him for 40 seconds.
His name ; Michael David Edwards
09:00 CONFIRMED BAD ASS
This is the type of Terminator movie fans have been waiting years for.
lol , connor moving his head like he's terminator
Back when John Conor looked like a badass
They should have gotten this original actor to play as John Conner instead.
His look, facial expressions and the respect he gets with everyone saluting him says so much about the character in 20 seconds than hours of all the other awful sequels. Now THIS is John Connor.
Memorable scenes that beginning a great great movie! To me this is the most characterized actor interpreting John Connor, of those shown in other films.
L O S A N G E L E S 2 0 2 9 A. D.
That would be great title, "Terminator 2029"
Excellent video, Julian Pope. And right here the one and only John Connor (actor Michael Edwards) !
8:40 Awesome, John Connor!
Nine and a half minutes that was better than the entire Terminator Salvation movie.
John Connor looks badass!
A saga that made history and has rarely been matched. It is not simply that kind of appreciable but visually profound film like so many films or sagas of today (Type DC films released from 2013 to present). It is a complex and profound and beautifully directed saga.
the terminator franchise is one of the very rare movie franchise whose second movie is better then the first movie
Copernicus Some people dont even like T2 sadly and for extremely stupid fucking reasons.
Instead of Genisys and Dark Fate why didn’t we just get this? Enough with the time travel, I want to continue where Salvation was heading, and lead into the future war.
Yeah, this is probably los Angeles in 6 years
Doesn't say a word, has like 15 seconds of screen time, and yet he's the best damn John Connor there ever was. You just KNOW he's a Terminator's Terminator. I just want a future war, that's all I ask.
James Cameron is terrific at bringing it all together! Let us not forget the late Stan Winston too!
What makes the old Terminator movies so timeless and epic is that the music are so different from the rest of the shitty movies in this franchise. Its unique, and like Star wars and Jurassic Park each character and each event has its own sound and theme. Things that are told are not told in dialogue like in newer movies. The movie doenst think you are a braindead moron to not understand what you see, ant the director lets the events take time to tell, without rushing it to be actionpacked or cool... This is rare and has been forgotten in modern movie making.
nailed it
this is the real John Connor; the leader that we want seen in the sequels
8:42 epic entrance
Do it please mate!!! Best scene from all Ts is the begining of T2 Judgement Day!! Is one of the best war action scenes ever!! James Cameron and his crew were true geniuses! T2 one of the best action movies ever!!!
