    Can confirm this. I received mine 10/21, ordered first week of August. Bike is the new model. The thing is a tank and has a ton of power. Definitely a big bike. Fits me well at 6’1” 230 lbs. Excited to put some miles on it. Thanks to TailHappyTV for putting it on my radar. Keep doing your thing bud. Cheers

      Be careful. I had issues with the bike I took delivery of in August and Steve (the CEO of Wired) did nothing to help me. Thankfully they weren't issues with the motor or battery but, if you have issues with major components like that, I'd be afraid he would be even MORE inclined to avoid helping you. All he seems to care about is selling as many bikes as he can.

    The fact that it gets 38mph at 2200w on 4" wide tyres means the motor is is super efficient. I'm curious if 3" tires would fit on the rims. It probably can sustain 2200w at high speed because of air cooling.

    Love the wired freedom. I just wish they had the same bike with more typical mountain bike tires like a 27.5 x 2.25. Also wish it had mounting points for a front mount basket or rack. I want that same frame motor battery etc just hate the handling of fat tires

    • @dixienormis3614
      @dixienormis3614 Рік тому

      It’s too heavy and powerful for mountain bike wheels.

    • @g00fysmiley
      @g00fysmiley Рік тому +1

      @dixienormis3614 it is neither too heavy nor powerful. Many cargo bikes use 20 or 26/27.5 x 2.1-2.4 tires, and they can have 400+lb capacities. As to power plenty of DIY bikes out there with 80V battery packs and powerful controllers rocking 2k watt hub motors and they do great. I keep hoping for one to hit the market to avoid the DIY route and hoping wired expands thier kine so I do not have to.

    • @dixienormis3614
      @dixienormis3614 Рік тому +1

      The cargo bikes are built different though. Shorter 20” wheels typically. A taller heavy bike like the Freedom would suffer with traction. If it were 10-20 pounds lighter it would be ok I bet. I have a few e-bikes one has 29x3 wheels and that is ideal for a bike the same height and weight. I don’t really love fat tires they are too slow and not nimble but I think it’s ok given the weight and motor acceleration

With that said, the idea of bombing down a public beach on an e bike this close to people is mindlessly inconsiderate and the kind of stuff that will give local politicians a reason, justifiably so to start over-regulating. Shocked to see something this irresponsible. I just wish more people in the UK, esp in the North East would swap their car journeys for e-bike journeys. If anyone form the UK or even the North East of the UK is reading and is considering an e-bike, a 25 mile round trip is easy. Having owned both a mid-drive and hub-drive bike, I would recommend the mid-drive as it forces you to do some pedaling and is a lot easier to ride should your battery die. A hub-drive, especially those with throttles tend to make you lazy, and if the battery dies, it's like dragging a tank."

    I've been riding my Wired Freedom (original model) on the same single track mountain bike trails as my 29r, and it's been fantastic. No, it's not as nimble as my 29r, but it sure climbs those hills a lot faster and saves my knees from the inevitable post ride aches. I do try and treat it with more respect as I don't think they really designed the bike for this type of terrain. Nonetheless, it's does an awesome job of hauling my 225 pounds through the hills. @@MrT-tn4qe The rack was bent so bad that the fender bolt was pushing into the tire so much that it was not rideable. Also, the deformation caused the whole right side of the fender to be jammed against the tire. The derailleur guard was jammed into the derailleur causing shifting problems but I was able to fix this. But, to make matters worse, Steve told me to remove the 2 back bolts and then pull hard on the rack with the upward motion to bend it back and this ended up bending the bolts (replaceable) but also stripping the front bolt holes in the frame. He wouldn't send me a new rack or compensate me at all so I can have a bike shop fashion something for me that fits. But no issues with the drive train.

      Corvettes go over the speed limit and are still legal. The law should not be on the vehicle but if you get caught speeding on you. Restricting bike to slow speed or power is stupid. They should change the law you cant go over 20mph in class 2 places/trails... or 28 in class 3...or you get a ticket like driver would. But that runs into problems if kids dont have a license. so maybe make it also age restricted. But what happens if your 14 year old riding a class 3 bike in a class 2 trail... IDK, I dont have the anwer to this but the fact you say its illegal it is! but that is a silly law comparing it to vehicles is what Im saying.
